Beware. We asked them to write a contract for reinstalling and painting an iron fence for us. They told me to write the contract. I asked them for their legal company name, address and tax id number, they told me to find it on Yelp. I asked them for a copy of their insurance God forbid a worker gets hurt while working on the iron fence, they told me they didn't need to give me their insurance. They wanted a 50% cash payment the day before starting the project, saying we can trust them because of their Yelp reviews. I cancelled a $6,000 verbally agreed job with them because of all the red flags above. I would be highly suspicious of a "company" with all the red flags we ran into above, be warned. read more

Great communication and quality of work! My gate door was colliding with the fence at the bottom. Not only did they fix that issue but also replaced the door knob hardware to ensure that everything was in working order. I have one of those old black-painted iron fences with the little "fleur de lys" points on top, with 2 entry gates on the front of a standard Chicago lot. It was very neglected. It had 17 of those points missing, it was fully rusted through in 2 spots and rusty all over, and both gates closed poorly. One stuck in its frame and both had bad "rod and catch" type latches. A week after I first contacted Delgado Welding for an estimate, the work was already completed and done well. The replacement sections are almost indistinguishable from the rest of the iron bars, the replacement "fleur de lys" points match the old points very well, and the gates open and close smoothly and even have replaced springs. I gave the 5 stars for promptness in responding, setting a date and completing the work, as well as doing a great job and being easy to communicate with. I'm not an expert on pricing this but I felt the price was very fair, and it was much lower than the other estimate I got -- and that competitor would have taken 3 weeks longer to even start the work. read more

I didn't get other quotes since it was a smaller job. His quote seemed fair and I was comfortable agreeing to it. Based on the prior reviews, I called Andres to see if he could fix our metal front gate, which hadn't been closing since about 2 weeks after another guy came out to fix it several years ago. Andres simply cut a small section out of the adjoining fence, used a strap to pull the fence over about 3/8 of an inch and re-weld it back together, which allowed enough space for the gate to latch again. He even bought the correct spray paint to touch up afterward. All done quickly and efficiently for $300. Money well spent. read more

My Roth iron gate swelled during the summer days from the heat. It was extremely difficult to open. After setting up an appointment with this guy. He quoted me a ridiculous amount to repair. I told him it was to much and not to fix it. About a month later I was still having issues and really needed to get this resolved. Plus I started to have issues with the lock due to the gate been forced when opening. I called Delgado back and pleaded with him to repair. I told him I would pay the ridiculous amount of $150.00 he quoted me. Then he told me the price went up to $200.00. I just wanted to get it repaired so I said ok. I asked him to fix the lock too. The issue started from forcing the gated open. He was then saying that would be another $50 to look at, and another $100.00 if he had to change the lock. I didn't respond back after this. A couple days later I found another contractor who charge me $20 for the gate repair. All that was needed was to shave the Roth iron down a little. It took him 5 mins. As for the lock. The tumbler just needed to be changed. Thank goodness I found some one else who was honest. read more

We hired Delgado Welding to build a new gangway and back/alley gates. They did a fantastic job. Andre did his best to build the gates exactly to our specifications. When we pointed something out we did not like, he made the necessary adjustments. They were very efficient in building the gates and worked around difficult weather to complete the job in a couple of days.
