I came inside and like many Indian places, there's usually no happy greeting or a smile. Which is what I was expecting. So I went and ordered chicken tikka masala, naan & Chana masala to go. I waited about 10-15 min and my food came out packed well. The restaurant is small and cozy. There's a few TVs and it was warm inside, but they had a fan running. Asli Purani Dilli ka taste, right here in Fremont. We rolled in hungry and ordered chole kulcha, poori aloo, samosa chaat, chai, and mango lassi. Every dish was on point -- chole tangy and rich, kulchas soft and pillowy, poori aloo straight out of a Chandni Chowk Sunday morning. Best part? Not oily, not heavy. Yummy! I got a bunch of dishes to try from this place. Food ~~ Chilli Soya Chaap: First time trying it and pleasantly surprised. The texture is good the sauce is like chilli paneer a little tangy and sweet and salty. It's definitely heavy on the taste palate and need rice or something to balance it. Malai Kofta + Plain Naan: One of the better malai kofta I have had in the bay! Very flavorful and the kofta was so soft and fluffy. The gravy was nutty and had a great consistency. Def want to get it again. Naan was fresh too and soft. Chole Kulcha: Kulcha was good they stuffed it to the brim. Chole was not bad but nothing really stood out. What a hidden gem this place is. The ambience is average for an Indian joint and while it's no hole-in-the-wall kinda place, it's not swanky like Khaati Peeti just across the parking lot either. Service was polite and courteous. The server checked in with us a couple of times which is always a plus for me. But food is where this place really stood out for me. We ordered a couple different things and they almost all got a high rating from me: Daal Makhani (4/5) came with Lachha Paratha. Perfect blend of creaminess and not overly spicy. Lachha paratha was huge and nicely flaky, though perhaps it could have been a wee bit thinner. Amritsari Chhole (4/5) - came with a stuffed Kulchha. The kulchha in itself was delish! My only feedback, a little less dhaniya seeds please. The chhole was also authentic tasting, thought the punjabis would disagree with me on the spice levels. Masala Papad (4/5) - who puts peanuts on masala papad was our first thought. When we had a bite, my wife and I both said, why the hell not!! Nicely crisp with peanuts onions and tomatoes. I would have like a few more tomatoes, but still great as is too. Masala neembu paani (2.5/5) a bit sweet and have had better elsewhere. read more

This restaurant is one of the most delicious North Indian restaurants outside of India! I have been frequenting this place for a while now and this review is long overdue. This is the real deal- the closest you can get to an authentic Punjabi dhaba outside of Punjab. In particular their Amritsari Chana Masala is to die for! This is a complex flavored dish that most Indian restaurants don't get right. You had to go to Amritsar to experience the real taste - until now you can get it in this small unassuming little place in Fremont, California! They import their spices directly from Amritsar and the owner is also from there and they have mastered it. Don't miss this! We ordered an appetizer of full chicken which we asked for it to come with everything else: side of rice; chicken platter; and one order of tikka masala with a side of garlic & mint naan. They were giving out samples of their Chicken Tikka Masala with beautiful smiles during Pizza My Heart's grand opening, and I'm so glad they did because I finally found an Indian place I really like. TAKEOUT REVIEW: We always order Indian food from our same favorite places, but today we decided to try the new Delhi 6 Indian restaurant at the Fremont Hub. We were pleasantly surprised by their flavors and extensive menu. We now have a new restaurant to add to our favorites. Their appetizer menu not only includes basics like samosas, but also tandooris, chaats, and even Masala french fries. They have a vegetarian menu and a non-veg menu, both with excellent curries. Although I didn't try any yet, I'm excited to see fish curries on their menu too. They also have a large selection of rice biryani dishes and different naan options. For our first visit, we went with plain rice and plain naan, which were excellent too. What we got: + Lamb vindaloo - large chunks of lamb and potatoes in a rich curry. + Shahi Navratan Korma - cauliflower, peas, and cubes of cheese in a creamy, tomato-y gravy. The menu mentioned raisins, but I didn't notice any. Dish was delicious and my favorite so far. + Chicken Malabari - large chunks for tender chicken in a coconut cream gravy. Another favorite. + Butter Chicken - agree with everyone that it's the best butter chicken I've had + Plain rice - basmati rice was nice and fluffy + Plain naan - this was fluffy with a nice chew. Giving a 3 star because we ordered a chicken noodle non spicy because my 7 year old was going to eat it. All they did was cooked it with ketchup and no chicken. I tried takeout from here on a rainy weekend. I had the aloo tikki chat and the soya chap. Both were so well made . The tikkis were crispy and the chat was very well spiced . The sweet and little hotness from the spicy chutneys was really good. The soya chap was done well as well. The chaap stir fried with the veggies and the sort of indo Chinese food was good. All dishes were executed well and super reasonable prices. Went well with the green chutney and tamarind sauce. The dining space is cafe esque and nicely done. The dal makhni here is to die for!! Reminds me of India! Buttery delicious goodness. You can get it as a combo with laccha paratha or just as an entree. We get it with the kulcha which also great! Oh gosh, this dinner was absolutely delicious. We had some amazing food with great portions at a very very good price point. The Amritsari kulcha was perfect & hot with a blob of butter just like how I remember having it in Amritsar. The malai Chaap was one of the best I've had in the bay & their naans were yummy too. Perfectly seasoned & cooked! The shahi paneer was a bit tooo sweet for me but rest of my family did enjoy it so that's a personal preference. I must admit the smell of a particular aloo dish from the nearby table was irresistible & I really wanna come back to try it ;) I noticed they also had some $5 menu items (changes everyday I think) so that's another excuse to come back for sure. Tucked next to Safeway on Mowry, Delhi 6 (that is exactly the same name of a Hindi movie in 2009), is a small but comfy Indian restaurant. Although the wall art is kind of tone deaf to Indian culture, like the movie that failed in box office, the food was very compelling in its taste and flavor in most part. Drawing parallels to the movie, the street food items like saunf paneer tikka and largely popular biriyani steal the show like the Bhor bhaye song while Chole lacks the traditional Punjabi taste. Really enjoyed my dine in here. The place was very clean and tidy which I liked. I felt very comfortable. The ambiance is beautiful with carefully curated artwork on the wall, nice decorated lighting, even the nice wood tables. The music reminds me of temple music and also there was an incense burning which was really nice and peaceful. The food was great, and you can tell it's handmade from scratch. I had aloo naan with my main courses and usually my go to is aloo paratha which is essentially the same but this naan was STUFFED with aloo and so delicious! It was piping hot so you know it was made fresh! I'd love to bring my family back here for a nice sit down dinner again. read more

We are long time Fremont residents and we were excited to try this place! To start we enjoyed the masala fries and the samosas. Can recommend the butter chicken and the chicken tikka masala - all was a great spice level and so flavorful. The owner was so kind and offered us dessert to go with a well spiced, delicious chai to end the meal. Update on Catering as well as recent visit to Dilli 6 We ordered Multiple dishes and special mention is for Butter Chicken where all the guests it was out of this world. Some of them even confirmed that the Butter chicken in better than Amber (SFO) or Rooh. It is worth mentioning that the butter chicken at Dilli6 is priced 50% level as compared to Amber/Rooh. Other excellent dishes were Kadhai Paneer, Dal Makhni, Garlic Naan Our today's visit included Dal Makhni, Chole Kulche and they were amazing. They server authentic North Indian Food with Dal Makhni cooked in Ghee and served with white butter. Writing this review after multiple visits to Delhi 6 . Most of our visits were on weekday/ evenings and we found the restaurant to have many open tables and thus no waiting!!!. We have now tried Mushroom Mutter (Dhingri Matar- Some places it is also referred as Khumb matar) and it was finger licking delicious. Our experience with Amritsari Dal Makhni w/ Laccha Paratha was amazing as well - The dish comes with steel Katori full of Dal Makhni. I have tasted Dal Makhni all over India and this Dal meets the best. The Laccha paratha was soft, well cooked and plain yummy. They normally give Gulab Jamun with this, but the sweet young server named Armaan requested us to try Kheer, which he said is prepared just now. Right on- The kheer was Excellent!!!. Not very sweet, appropriately viscous and downright delicious. So far everything that we have tried is excellent- Kulcha with Chana, Samosa Chat, Masala E Nimbu, Sweet Lassi, Masala Tea. I had the vegetable pakora and chai. The pakora was pre-fried probably earlier in the day or the day before and then refried for my disappointment. The chai was blunt and utterly average with too much ginger powder and not enough cardamom. It would've been nice if they were playing music from Delhi ideally classic or 90s.
