Great experience with $40 4 course dinner. Came with a friend on Diwali and the staff was super friendly and attentive - almost checking on us TOO much . Not sure food was the best ever but for meeting a friend/industry colleague to hang out with for the first time, it was a lovely and comfortable spot for 3 hours! Dehli-6' dining room is much more sophisticated, dark and swanky, than initial impressions might have you believe looking at the location on the side of an office/apt tower past the corner Irish pub.. Understaffed at the tail end of a birthday group and about 3 other tables, it took 7 minutes for water, another 5 minutes no menus so I got up and grabbed some and waited 5 minutes to get in our order...our server also making drinks. Emptied my water and it took 5 mins after entree arrived to get refill and a jug to fill ourselves. So be patient here the food is very good. Most entrees $21+ and rice is a la carte? Steep upcharge too at $6 but probably 2 cup dish with cumin seeds. Chili Garlic Naan $4.50 was not as crisp on the edges as I like and light on both garlic and chili but it was hot, fluffy & soft and served to accompany our curry, not realizing the rice did not automatically come with the entree curry, we quickly tracked our waitress down to add a bowl. The Goat curry $21.50 was excellent though, topped with slivers of fresh ginger, of which I wish there was more. Sauce was thicker, depth in curry spices, ordered mild and still a nice touch of warmth builds after a few bites and lingers lightly. Goat was so tender and good helping of large pcs with some bones, it was the best goat! Hubby and I shared on a late night 8pm dinner having just got across the border and had an earlier appetizer today, it was plenty for us with the 2 starches. Love the Goat, nice ambience in the swanky dining room, need more help between bar and tables but I would return to D-6 for the quality of the curry :). But I will say if you enjoy sea salt lemonade, get the Indian style lemonade. If not, I would NOT suggest it (not slaying the day). Our food came out pretty fast, and the fams water was CONSTANTLY being filled. The place was legitimately lit and no cap, def giving Indian vibes. Ive been here twice and I absolutely LOVE it here. It's quiet, authentic (seeing it filled with Indians dining here is always a good sign), the service is friendly and appreciative, and walking distance from home to boot. Ive ordered the garlic naan and eggplant bharta both times Ive been here. It feels like home, feels like comfort food, and Im not even Indian. With great anticipation for months now, I finally went back to Delhi 6 with my sister today. Ordered the tandoori salmon dish with a different chicken dish (mango chicken curry), and was super disappointed. The tandoori chicken was nothing like I remembered - while it retained the asparagus and beans and salmon, it was made with cauliflower and tomatoes, while missing the micro-greens and cilantro. The flavors of the new/missing ingredients clashed to create a subpar flavor. It's still ok, but was definitely not worth driving two hours (and paying $21) for. I'm sorely disappointed. The mango chicken curry is actually pretty good, but it had ZERO mango taste. The ginger overpowered any other flavors in the dish, which is fine. It's actually a really fantastic ginger chicken, but not a great mango chicken. So just level set your expectations. While the ambiance is quite lovely and the service wonderful and attentive, I would absolutely no longer recommend this place based on today's performance. So sad because I had dreamt of coming back for the good part of a year. *sigh* So long, Delhi 6. read more

*Review for takeout during COVID I've ordered takeout and dined in at several Indian restaurants in Vancouver and Surrey over the years and was looking to try a new place. I ordered the malai kofta and paneer tikka butter masala as well as three different types of naans (plain, garlic, and chilli garlic). The curries were tasty and the naans were nice and thin. I liked that the kofta balls were soft, though the gravy could have been more flavorful. That said, don't bother ordering different types of naans since they all taste the same and it's not worth paying extra for them. Not sure if this was a mistake in packing my order but when we called the restaurant to give them this feedback, Geet was quite rude and blamed us - super disrespectful, they lost my business. If I want Indian food, there's tons of other nice restaurants in the city who won't give me attitude! read more

Expensive but absolutely delicious. This place had been on our radar for a while with their large vegetarian/vegan section of the menu and I'm glad we finally tried it. We ordered dinner takeout during the week and our order was ready within 20 minutes. We got the mushroom masala, bhindi masala, and butternut squash & mango curry, along with some tandoori roti on the side. Everything was amazing, with perhaps the squash being the unique standout. We ordered things medium/spicy and that brought some nice heat. Portions are generous, which they better be for the price -- the total came to $60 (after tax), which is probably the most expensive Indian place I've been to in Vancouver; however, the quality is so good that I'm happy to pay it. The inside of the restaurant is beautifully decorated, including a nice waiting area. They have plenty of tables for small and large groups. It wasn't very busy on a weekday night. They have a variety of options, including vegetarian and vegan choices. I tried the eggplant bharta with chili garlic naan. You have an option to choose the level of spiciness from mild, medium, and spicy. Mild was what I expected for mild. I think next time I would go for medium. The curry at first looked small to me, but was actually quite filling. I liked how they added some peas for colour and some texture. My friend ordered the chai. They don't have a non dairy option for the chai, so I just had a small sip. I found it to be quite milky and the spices didn't come through as much as I would have liked. Service was very attentive. Whenever another member of our party showed up, they filled their water promptly. They checked up on us and were friendly. Overall, they serve tasty food and have great service. The only thing is that they are a little on the pricier side. The curries don't come with rice or naan, and you need to add these on as a side at an extra cost. Came for dinner with a friend on Thursday night around 7:30 and was able to get seated immediately as the restaurant wasn't too busy. I started with the ginger marinated lamb chops ($18.95) as my appetizer and was blown away by this dish. It's enough to be a full meal for someone who's not super hungry as you get quite a few lamb chops. Plus each bite bursts with flavor as it's well marinated. I was afraid it'd be too spicy given the description (I have zero spice tolerance), but luckily it wasn't too bad. I also shared half a tandoori chicken ($16) with my friend. The chicken was okay but some parts of it were dry and hard to eat. Not my favorite that I've had in Vancouver (try Tandoori Fusion for good tandoori chicken). The ambiance of the restaurant was nice and spacious and modern, with plenty of natural lighting during daylight hours. Would love to come back again for their lamb chops! Been wanting to try this Delhi 6 Bistro restaurant for a very long time and finally made it with 3 friends. Upon arrival, the interior was warm and welcoming. We snagged a cozy booth with ample room. In looking at the menu, there were a variety of options for the meat to vegan eaters. The price range for the mains are in the middle. About $3-4 higher than the smaller family run Indian Restaurants but lower than the higher end like Vij's. The sides like rice and naan are not included with the main. Also noticed a modern mix to some items like the organic quinoa with pesto naan. There were 4 of us and we didn't know how big the mains were so we ordered one each to share. The mains are big enough for 2 people to share and 3 mains would have been enough for us along with the appetizer, naan and rice. All the items we ordered were tasty, colourful and served warm. We ordered: 1. Fish Pakoras ($13): so soft and one of the best I have had in the city. 2. Beef Vindaloo ($18.50): asked for mild and it was just the right amount of spiciness for us. The beef was so soft and just melted in your mouth. The sauce was amazing over the rice. 3. Mango Chicken Curry ($18): chicken cooked in mango sauce with coconut milk, curry leaves and ginger. It was tasty and not sweet at all. However, I gravitate towards more savoury dishes so this was not my favourite main. 4. Delhi 6 Goat Curry ($17.50): I normally do not like the smell or taste of goat but the onions, turmeric and other aromatic spices covered the gamey smell so I was able to have 2 small chunks and liked it. 5. Spinach Paneer Curry ($16.50): spinach purée with fresh cottage cheese, curry and cream. A beautiful vibrant colour dish and tasted as good as it looked. Yummy! 6. One order for onion seed naan ($3) and one order garlic naam ($3.75). Each order had 4 slices. 7. 2 orders of Cumin Basmati Rice ($5/order) Two of us had chai but it served luke warm. Once mentioned, our server apologized and informed us a new batch was being made and would be served a hot one. Hot it was but not the best chai. A bit weak on the spices so didn't have the pungent spice notes lingering. We enjoyed our dinning experience and would definitely come again. When yelp informed me of this new-ish Indian restaurant and I saw it had 5 stars it shot to the top of my list for "need to try asap". My partner and I love Indian food and could spend days at both Vijs and East is East. We're now thrilled that we can add Delhi 6 to the list of our favourite Indian restaurants. When we arrived about 4pm in a Saturday, there was only one other table of two in the very spacious and open dining space. We were seated in a booth in the back corner by the window--perfect! They have a very large menu, so deciding on what to try was a challenge. In addition to spinach paneer, which I have to try everywhere it's available, we tried their lamb samosas, ginger marinated lamb chops, and butter chicken. Lamb samosas: 5 stars. So so flavourful! Definitely want to get these when we return. Lamb chops: 4 stars. While the meat was cooked perfect, the flavour profile of Vij's are better. Butter chicken: 4 stars as well. Good, but I'd like to try something new on our next visit. Spinach paneer: 5x5 stars! They've done it! I've found my new favourite spinach paneer in the city! Enjoyed a wonderful experience last night at Delhi 6 Bistro which included an amazing meal, lovely service & a gorgeous dining room with excellent lighting which is super important to me. We had the Butter Chicken Tikka Masala, Prawn Biryani, Garlic Naan, Roasted Cauliflower and a pair of perfect Samosas to start. Everything was very flavorful, the chicken & rice dishes were a little tomato heavy for my specific liking but were tasty nonetheless. We were asked how spicy we'd like everything and were told their spice rating is 1-5* so we requested the most spice possible at a 5*+. We thought everything was more toward a 2.5* on the heat level but maybe we're just very acclimated to spicy food cuz we eat a lot of very hot Thai food. The Chicken and Prawns were tender, samosas were large, flaky and crispy. The service was attentive & careful & the bartender made my cocktail perfectly as I'd requested & even made a special visit at our table to confirm it was to my liking. The room was beautiful with several gorgeous upholstered dining banquettes for larger families. Seeing so many Indian families dining there assured us of the authenticity & quality of the food and what we were served did not disappoint. Two of us managed to eat almost everything but we were somehow there for 2+ hours so we paced ourselves and didn't feel stuffed at the end of the meal. Everything we ordered came with Raita, Mint Chutney & yummy Tamarind Chutney so we didn't have to order extra which was very nice on our final bill which we thought was very reasonable for all we ordered plus one cocktail plus one carafe of wine. Seattleite here. Vancouver Indian restaurants never fail to disappoint. This place is a gem !! I could have been biased but then my wifey was impressed as well. Her Taiwanese taste buds have very high expectation when it comes to Indian food. We ordered Chicken Tikka Butter Masala with Garlic Naan. The curry was well good - had a nice smokiness, a little tangy and a little spicy and a littttttttle bit of sweetness to balance out all the flavor. The chicken was definitely fresh and well cooked. Although I feel that the gravy had not completely soaked into the chicken. To me its just a timing issue (marinate and cooking time). Garlic naan were soft, flavorful, garlicky ofcourse !! I would be visiting again - next time to try some vegetarian food and chicken Biryani. Would drop by for a review update when I do so. read more

Seriously, rarely find a nice interior Indian restaurant in town (except Vjis) We got booth seat by window side. We found wide menu selection of Indian dishes, including some traditional, modern, and globalized culinary. After a trip to London, we keep looking for a good Indian restaurant in Vancouver. We ordered prawns sprouted Moong Del Salad, it's so delicious and perfect to start as appetizer. Plain & Garlic Naan freshly made, it's good to go with curry dishes. Delhi 6 chicken curry was ok, It came with small pieces of chicken breast, was slightly dry and rough. Lamb curry was the star! I have ordered from this place n number of times and all the times, my experience had been great. I have tried bhindi masala, dal makhni, tandoori prawns, tandoori chicken wings, baingan bhartha, naan and biryani. I highly recommend tandoori prawns and baingan bhartha. Food is really spicy, so if you don't enjoy too much spices, ask for less spicy. The food is great and the quality is always consistent. Decided to try the restaurant for the first time two days ago - via Skip the Dishes and unfortunately, it was a very unpleasant experience overall. I understand the restaurant doesn't control the Skip process, but the instead of 37 min. as originally promised, it took over an hr. for the food to arrive. It was especially frustrating tracking the driver via the app and seeing him first approach our area, then suddenly drive away from it and stand in one spot for 10-15 min. Apparently, his GPS took him to a wrong address. Fine. We paid almost $70 for two butter chicken dishes and two pieces of naan bread. We wouldn't even be complaining about the price if the portions were normal, but each butter chicken container had plenty of sauce and literally only three pieces of chicken. Decided to order from here off SkipTheDishes because they screwed up and I ended up with $10 in Skip credits that I had to use. Because there aren't a lot of options in my area, this was one of the only places that seemed promising. I was very pleasantly surprised by this order, as I didn't have any expectations for this whatsoever. The food arrived still piping hot, and the portions were pretty damn massive. Just the appetiser would be sufficient for two meals (one if you have a massive appetite like me), and the mains were double that size. I would say that it was 500mL worth of curry for each main. Yellow Daal Tadka (5/5) At $14.00, this was so worth it. This was more like a soup than a curry, since it was extremely watery, but it was seasoned to perfection. I accidentally bit into one of the seasonings/herbs and it was nasty but I was just being stupid. The flavours were unique and it was really comforting to eat/drink(?). I would really recommend getting this dish if you're looking to try something new and you're a fan of seasonings. Eggplant Bharta (4.5/5) This was a sizeable portion for just $16.00, and would probably last 3-4 whole meals depending on your appetite. Eggplant Bharta is my must-order dish at Indian restaurants, and I love it so much. I always order this and a lentil/bean dish, which is usually daal or chickpea curry. This one was a little spicy, but not so spicy that I couldn't eat it. I would prefer slightly less spice, but that's because I don't really like spicy food. The curry was super flavourful and the eggplant, tomatoes, onions and peas mashed together were melt-in-your-mouth and super delicious. Samosa with Chickpea Curry (4/5) This was $11.00, and came with two large samosas and a decently-sized chickpea curry (about or ¼ of the size of the mains). My mom enjoyed the samosa a lot more than I did, and she ate one and a third of mine. To me, the samosa was just alright, but it was a bit too heavy on the dough, despite there being a generous amount of filling. The flavour was decent, but nothing to rave about. I would give them a 3.5 while my mom would give them a 4.5. The chickpea curry was great as well - the chickpeas were soft and the curry was flavourful. There were no disappointments here, and I enjoyed eating every single dish immensely. I have been craving Indian food for forever!!!! Took me going to Vancouver to finally get my hand on some. I was deciding on this and one other place and SO happy that I chose this. My bf and I came during lunch time and it was pretty dead, but don't let that fool you! This is a must try place. The restaurant was decorated beautifully. The cleanest Indian restaurant that I have ever been to... but I don't think the restaurant is owned by Indian people either. I believe the two ladies working may be in charge - also don't let that stop you from coming either haha - Chicken Biryani - (4.5/5) - I snapped the before picture, but you know what happens to snaps if you don't save it... it disappears. Anyways, the biryani came out in a round dish, covered with naan. The lady said that this is the traditional way that biryani is presented - never seen/heard that before. They advise you to not eat the naan cover because it is usually undercooked but I tried it anyways haha. It wasn't bad :) The dish was extremely moist, spicy and flavorful. $16.95 - Coconut Lamb Curry - (4.5/5) - creamy, hearty and spicy lamb curry. So glad we didnt order plain rice because I would've devoured this dish. $17.00 - Garlic Naan - (4/5) thinner than what I normally see, but still maintained it's classic flavor. $3.50 Would I come back? Yes, without a doubt. We both thought the food was really good. It made for good leftovers too haha. HOWEVER, the one thing that did bother me... the large pieces of seasoning... It was late Sunday night and a lot of restaurants had already closed, so decided to Uber Eats Delhi 6. I don't know why, but I had never given this restaurant a chance before. The food arrived quickly and was still piping hot. The takeout bag actually felt heavy because the portions were so generous. We ordered 4 dishes, plus raita, naan, garlic naan and tandoori roti. To our pleasant surprise the food was actually really good. It's not the most authentic for sure, but still very tasty. I actually ended up eating way too much! We ordered peas and onion pulao for our rice dish, coconut lamb curry, goat curry and paneer tikka butter masala. My favourite 2 dishes were the paneer tikka masala and the coconut lamb curry. Upon opening the containers I had wished I had chosen the spinach paneer, to get a little colour variation in the dishes, but once I tasted the paneer tikka butter masala I was glad I picked it. I really enjoyed the flavour and different vegetables in the dish. And despite that everything came in a red sauce, all of the dishes had very distinct flavours that complimented each other well. My least favourite dish was the goat curry. Personally I prefer coconut based curries, but the goat itself was also quite tough. I did quite enjoy the lamb curry with its coconut milk base. The pulao was also a great addition instead of just having plain rice. The garlic naan and regular naan were great for dipping. However the tandoori roti was very bland and almost just tasted like a whole wheat pita. I would definitely order Indian from here again. read more

Butter chicken is good. It's quite runny but flavour-wise it's delicious. The portion didn't have much chicken in it unfortunately otherwise I would've said this dish is great. They didn't get my order right on Uber Eats and I dunno if it's their fault or Uber's but I felt ripped off because my issue wasn't adequately addressed. My rice was missing and I ordered over $50 worth of curry.. 2 of the curries were quite runny so not having rice kinda ruins the whole experience. The Dahl is watery and more like soup. The flavour was pretty good. Maybe this wouldn't have been so bad if they didn't forget the rice. The spinach curry is bland. I was expecting more flavour. It wasn't terrible but it was disappointing. The spice level of all the curries is very mild. The whole experience was kinda bland and watered down. I dunno if they're trying to appeal to the Kitsilano population but it left me wanting more. The overall mediocre experience with 2 out of 3 curries and not getting my full order left a bad impression. This may just have been an accidental oversight the restaurant could've fixed but Uber did not facilitate in making it right so my whole experience with them was bad. I'll try a different delivery service next time but am unlikely to order from this place again unless they fix it. I feel like it hasn't been fixed and Uber didn't really try to make it better. According to their pictures and other reviews, my guess is they are rated so highly based on the ambiance. The atmosphere looks great, but it's COVID so delivery is the way of life nowadays. Maybe I'll give them another shot when this pandemic is over. read more
