Brought family into Coquette for a birthday celebration for the books! [[HIGHLIGHT]]One of the best seated dinner experiences in Vancouver. It's cozy, not over the top, excellent service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We opted in for the repas de famille at Coquette and we were once again not disappointed. Between the 4 of us, we got to try quite a few staples on the menu like le canard and other seasonal off menu items. The surprise of each dish is very much part of the fun! We were pleasantly stuffed by the end of the meal and overall it was about a 2.5 hr dining experience. Staff was absolutely wonderful. Our waiter described each dish and the chef came to out to meet and asked if we have any allergies or specific foods that needed to be omitted. If you speak French french, you'll find that some of the staff are from France and are more than happy to converse. The restaurant definitely changed my perspective on classic French foods and dishes in a good way. I will be not so patiently waiting for my next visit back soon!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice cozy spot on arbutus. Atmosphere is lively yet also quiet enough.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Amazing food, we had the duck and the special for the night which was a beef tenderloin. All cooked to perfection with the lovely pairings you can expect for french cuisine. Service is super friendly and helpful, great mix of a homestyle feel with a high end restaurant. Overall a beautiful date night spot.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]What a romantic and pleasant ambiance! I loved the decor, furniture, and soft lighting. The interior truly drew me into this restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall, I would definitely recommend checking this place out on Thursdays for their live music evenings![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Here is everything I tried: + Salad Nicoise (5/5): The tuna in this was soooo flavorful. Complimented the aragula and green beans well. Lightly dressed too. Simply a scrumptious salad to start our evening. I would order this again! + Steak Frites (4/5): Perfectly cooked steak, in my opinion! Well seasoned and each piece was so tender. The steak truly shined. FYI - you can't order this well done :) The frites were crispy and thinly cut, but had a sweetness to them. Tasted almost like sweet potato fries! + Pasta de Jour (3/5): Today's pasta was a linguine sauce rosé, with trout and halibut. The linguine was clearly handmade with good texture. The rosé was more tomato than cream, and it had a strong citrus element to it. On the sour side slightly. They didn't skimp on the fish, which was tender. This wasn't my favorite dish, but a decent try!

We love French cuisine! We got the family style dinner and added on the chicken special for the little. The coq au vin was phenomenal and my favourite of the night. If you are into drinks, definitely give the "some like it hot" cocktail a try! It is served hot as the name suggests. For dessert, the mousse au chocolat stands out. It is creamy and chocolatey and just the right amount of richness so you keep going back for more. Ambiance was nice and dreamy. Perfect for date nights. Service was great and the food came pretty quickly.

My friend and I had a lovely dinner here recently. We sat outside on their pretty balcony under bistro umbrellas and string lights, among planters of boxwood hedges. Really lovely. We liked how the staff here all speak French. (Being from Montreal, I like to practice it occasionally). No-one laughed at my butchering the language, and they all were really nice. The bartender made me a wonderful sangria - one of the best I've had in a long time. My friend had some wine (they have a very good selection here. Nice!). We both ordered the steak frites. The meat was cooked perfectly and was delicious, but the fries were not crispy, and mine were too salty (as well as a tad limp). But other than that, our meal was great. And I had a fabulous coffee to end the meal. Just perfect. My friend and I chatted for quite a while and nobody rushed us or kicked us out of our table, which we really appreciated. Oh, and they have free wifi too. Everything about this place is delightful. We already are looking forward to returning.

Came here for my birthday with my family and decided to do the Family Style set menu. Each course was so tasty! Our server kept refilling our bread so we could finish off all the cheese and meat charcuterie board! :) Highlights for me would be - the salmon - squash tartare - fried pork with mustard sauce. - chocolate pudding dessert Overall, our server was knowledgeable and awesome, the food felt like they put a lot of thought into it and were generously portioned (we all left STUFFED), the ambiance was cozy and romantic. Highly recommend!

salade niçoise ($25) was pretty good i'm a big tuna guy. might be my default french res order so far

They have an outdoor patio area but the seating is on couches you and would have to lean over to eat at a coffee table. We thought that it would be very awkward for eating. They had one high top table outside that we took. Sunday is pizza night and all the pizzas were $17.95. The FIFA game was on both inside and on the patio. For dinner we shared a diavola pizza and smoked salmon parpadelle. The pizza was good but the crust was soggy. The salmon parpadelle was good but I think it would have been better with another pasta - spaghetti, linguine or fettucine as the pasta could not be twirled with a fork and spoon and had to be cut up. The service was excellent. When our server Malaka heard that we were coming in from Abbotsford she said that she would give us the "best seat in the restaurant". When we opted to sit on the patio she gave us a complimentary tiramisu as a thank you. It was such a kind gesture. It was a nice relaxing evening and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Four of us ordered one dish when we arrived, and then placed another order about 10 minutes later. After waiting for an hour, both food orders were completely missed by the staff. My friend at least received a drink, but I ended up sitting there drinking water for over an hour and left with an empty stomach. Didn't taste very fresh and the orange vinaigrette sauce didn't do anything to help it. The jasmine rice balls were an interesting touch. Wouldn't recommend Shishitos and cauliflower ($14) - the cauliflower florets were nice but the shishitos were lacking that snap you get (it was a bit soggy). Wouldn't recommend Steamed Bao bun with butter prawn masala ($21) - this was one of the highlights of the night. The butter masala went so well with the Bao bun and it soaked up that sauce perfectly. Loved the snap from the shrimp but wish there was more of it dispersed throughout the dish. Definitely get this dish Crab satay ($19) - this dish was weird... The crab was misled by the flavour of the peanut sauce and it just didn't work well together as a dish. Each component was fine on its own but nothing worked together. The cabbage salad felt like just an afterthough. Would not recommend. Sweet and sour pork belly ($16) - this dish was also interesting - it felt more like just a crispy pork belly. That's it. The sweet and sour sauce felt non- existent. There needed to be another punch in this dish to make it more complete. Wouldn't recommend Sea bass ($37) - this dish was great. Loved the texture of the sea bass. The potato gnocchi was a nice touch and that Goan curry sauce went really well with everything. Wouldn't order again Beef Kad Pra kao ($29) - this was another miss. The beef wasnt chewy but it lacked flavour. It needed more basil in it to bring out the flavour. Nothing about this dish impressed. Wouldn't order again Dubai chocolate bar ($17) - absolutely delicious. Loved the crispness of the chocolate crumb offset by the softness of the dense pistachio creme and the chocolate ganache. The little bits of the rose petals gave it that essence that it needed. It wasn't overly sweet. Would get this again Overall quite a few missed and some great dishes. The serving sizes are appropriate for the price. The service was great and not overbearing. Definitely try the steamed bun, the sea bass and the Dubai chocolate bar. My biggest issue with the dishes were that the garnished were almost the same for every dish. I understand it's for the pop of colour but it was so repetitive and didn't add any value to the fish other than the pop of colour (the green shoots and the red radish). I had the spiced Guatemalan carajillo it was pretty smooth and not too sweet. I would want to try their other drinks as they have quite an extensive menu.

The entrance is completely unmarked, with darkened windows and no signage; you literally have to decide whether to push or pull your way into the gloom, which fits the "thief" theme perfectly once you step inside. Inside, the space leans into a **chic** speakeasy ambience, only slightly undercut by 90s chillout tunes that are a touch loud but still on-brand for a laid-back late-night hideout. The food is where things really land. Frog legs arrive as the star curiosity and end up tasting strikingly familiar--so much so they echo the famed chicken wings from Anh and Chi in both comfort and flavour. The beef tartare is properly seasoned and genuinely delicious, rich but balanced enough that it never feels heavy. Ox tail is a unique inclusion on the menu and it follows through, offering deep, slow-cooked flavour that stands out even among the stronger dishes. Duck breast is cooked to a textbook pink, tender and juicy, an easy "order again" plate. Dessert keeps the momentum going. An oolong peach creation acts as the perfect finishing touch: fragrant, slightly floral, and just sweet enough to close the meal without tipping into cloying territory. Service and atmosphere reinforce the sense of a discreet drinking den--this is the place you duck into for a properly made drink and a series of small plates, not a high-traffic scene bar. With nothing to complain about--from food to vibe--The Good Thief feels like a well-executed concept: a hidden, unmarked bolthole where you slip in from the dark, linger over excellent plates, and slip back out just as quietly.
