    Chicken biryani, pani puri
    Vineeta P.

The food was delicious, the chicken in the biryani had a slight sauce to it which made it more flavourful and the right amount of spice. The portion was huge, we had a few plates between the two of us and still had some leftover. The staff were kind and the restaurant had plenty of seating.

Amazing portion for less than $20. I really like food with strong flavor and this is one of them. It was my first time trying biryani and it was spiced really well. I had to get a box since it was a lot of food for one sitting.

This place has much hype and I can see why. The biryani was really good. We got there around 845 and they told us it would be a 40 min wait so we opted for take out. The place was packed with people and was pretty loud so I'm glad we chose to go. We ordered the chicken 65 and the goat biryani. It is the best chicken 65 my husband and I have had! And the biryani was packed with meat and masala and it was delicious as well. Going to be dreaming about this chicken 65 until our next visit to Vancouver!

Outstanding food here! I discovered this place through work colleagues who recommended it for a proper spicy biryani. Tonight we had chicken lollipop appetizers, Paneer Butter Masala, Mixed Tandoori Platter, and the Chicken Dum Biryani (hot). Every dish was served fresh and service was timely and well paced (appetizers and mains were nicely spaced). Staff were attentive and we were seated very quickly after arriving. The ambiance was really pleasant, and our group had a great table chat even with music playing. I will be coming back here again soon.

I love Indian Food and after being at a recent Yelp event, this location was another location owned by that restaurant. I knew I had to try this location as well. Disclaimer: I ordered from a delivery app to QE park. Mine was a favourite to all those who can handle heat. Chicken 65 3.5/5 Goat Biryani 4/5 Nan 3.5/5 Pickles 5/5 Spicy Kahdoo Ka Kheer 4.5/5 In comparison to dining in, obviously temperature of food and texture is going to differ a little bit. What was surprising was the food tasted really good cold, and even super cold straight from fridge, as I had leftovers the next day. The basmati rice from the Goat Biryani had such good texture cold. Pickled green mangos along with the the spices and sesame seeds were some of the best I've had. Looking forward to dining in next time.

I was craving for biryani and remembered trying it here from another event. I ordered it and another dish (papdi chat) through a third party delivery. Unfortunately the chat never arrived, the restaurant staff forgot to put it in. 3 stars because of the missing item. It was quite disappointing as I was so looking forward to trying the street food snack. I called the restaurant and they acknowledged and explained they forgot to bag the chat. They found it sitting there. Not the fault of the delivery person but this incident made me wary of using these 3rd party delivery in future and it was my first time using it! I usually pick up my own food and so I shall continue to do that as long as I'm able. The food itself was very tasty. I forgot about the heat from the spice. They did not tone it down which was great if you were missing the spicy food in India. The vijayawaya fry chicken was so tender and flavorful. The portion was huge too. Lots of chicken pieces underneath the rice. I don't eat that much and this made 3 meals for me. The raita and salan complemented the biryani perfectly. Pappadum was yummy too. I'll definitely want to try the papdi chat and other dishes in future. The restaurant is pretty big and good for bigger groups. Street and side parking are available.

Chicken biryani, goat curry, garlic naan

We ordered three dishes: garlic naan, goat curry and chicken biryani. Paid about $45 with tips. Excellent food! Packed with lots of flavour and just enjoyable to eat. Our curry was medium hot and it ended up being too spicy for me but we loved it! The garlic naan was fluffy, soft and crispy. The goat curry was our favourite! It's probably the best goat curry we've had yet. We've had so many delicious goat dishes at other restaurants but this one was just top-notch! We love that it comes in a little warmer that keeps it warm throughout the entire meal. Chicken biryani was good; nothing too special about it. We used the gravy from the curry to add flavour to the biryani. Unfortunately, the front of the house needs a lot of work and training. The waiters were lovely but it seems like there was nobody there to lead and guide them. We had placed our name on the waitlist (or thought we did) and were asked to take a seat, so we did. About 5 minutes later, another waiter comes to ask for our names to add to the list. We were so confused. Anyhow, they ended up seating us within 10 minutes, so that was nice. We sat for about 15 minutes before anyone came with a menu. They brought us a bottle of water but no glasses, that came about 10 minutes later. It took about 30-40 minutes for our food to arrive. The three tables that were seated after us were served all their food before us, so we had no idea what was happening. We were a pair (2 people) and the three tables after us had at least 3 people at each table. We were about half way through our meal before the rice dish came; it was a bit weird to have finished the naan and wait in the rice dish. Your food is excellent but your services aren't on par. It would be good for business if the front of the house were more organized and if there was a better strategy for managing customers. We love your food and will definitely be back but this time we'll order take out. I really think you deserve a 5 star but unfortunately, the services and wait times need a bit more work. I'd like to be able to give you 5 stars next time! Keep up the good work with your flavours!

I was excited to try Hyderabad Biryani House after eating at their sister restaurant in Delta, Bahubali Biryani House. I was craving the Chicken 65 I had tried at Bahubali and happy knowing that there was a closer location to order it. The flavour was spot on. Spicy creamy curry coating the juicy chicken. I would say that it wasn't as crisp as at Bahubali. It had reminded me previously of a fusion between Korean fried chicken and curry, where the coating of the chicken was able to maintain its crunch under the sauce. Perhaps they make the chicken in advance here, as the menu item is quite popular. We also ordered a Goat Dum Biryani. The goat was actually quite tender, not what I had expected. There was a decent amount of goat within the rice. Everything was nice and fluffy but not as hot as I would have wanted it. The restaurant is named "biryani house" but the biryani didn't stand out to me as much as other dishes. Our friends ordered the Madras and naan. Definitely a sweeter flavour profile than the chicken 65. The naan was light and chewy, perfect to go with the curry. I would definitely come back for more hyderabadi food!

Authentic Indian food must try! They have vegetarian or non-vegetarian versions of appetizers, curries, sizzlers, naan bread, rice, especially their biryani rice, and more. If you like spicy dishes, you've come to the right place! You can also request for milder spiciness. The servers are very friendly. The dining area is spacious and comfy. We started with a glass of mango lassi. It tastes very mangoey and summery. The fried chicken nuggets go well with the refreshing cilantro yogurt sauce. The prawn masala (curry) was delicious that you would eat more naan or rice with its sauce. They were very generous with their prawns. Overall the flavour was great for every dish, except that they were a tad too salty for my taste. - Chicken chatapata dry (fried chicken with mild spiciness) - Prawn masala (seafood curry) - Tandoori butter naan - Dum rice (Biryani) - Mango lassi (drink) They have street meter parking or pay parking at rear. They also accept reservation.

I will only go back to this place for its food. The food did have flavors. Or maybe I would say takeout is best option. They have more than 1.5 hour waiting time even in the middle of the night. Worst part they don't even care. They are extremely rude. And there were empty tables which were not cleaner. Ambience is okay. It does not seem to be very clean, especially floors, wall and table. Overall ambience is below average .

We ordered the family pack chicken biryani for the 4 of us. Our waitress had told us that it could feed FOUR people. Unfortunately this was very misleading, and we were left with way too many leftovers than we could handle. We also ordered butter chicken paneer, gobi manchurian, and baby corn masala. All three were very appetizing and cleared easily. The gobi manchurian was especially a hit for our table. The single portion biryani is best to order instead of the family pack as it can feed 2-3 people. Frustrated that we were lied to, they know their portions well and left us with more than we could handle for their profit.

The entrance is completely unmarked, with darkened windows and no signage; you literally have to decide whether to push or pull your way into the gloom, which fits the "thief" theme perfectly once you step inside. Inside, the space leans into a **chic** speakeasy ambience, only slightly undercut by 90s chillout tunes that are a touch loud but still on-brand for a laid-back late-night hideout. The food is where things really land. Frog legs arrive as the star curiosity and end up tasting strikingly familiar--so much so they echo the famed chicken wings from Anh and Chi in both comfort and flavour. The beef tartare is properly seasoned and genuinely delicious, rich but balanced enough that it never feels heavy. Ox tail is a unique inclusion on the menu and it follows through, offering deep, slow-cooked flavour that stands out even among the stronger dishes. Duck breast is cooked to a textbook pink, tender and juicy, an easy "order again" plate. Dessert keeps the momentum going. An oolong peach creation acts as the perfect finishing touch: fragrant, slightly floral, and just sweet enough to close the meal without tipping into cloying territory. Service and atmosphere reinforce the sense of a discreet drinking den--this is the place you duck into for a properly made drink and a series of small plates, not a high-traffic scene bar. With nothing to complain about--from food to vibe--The Good Thief feels like a well-executed concept: a hidden, unmarked bolthole where you slip in from the dark, linger over excellent plates, and slip back out just as quietly.

Later, I was told it was part of Odd Society's Covid protection and helped the bartenders stack things up. Okay, fine, but tear the damn things down. They're obnoxious. Odd Society creates an array of liquors made from ingredients sourced locally by law. It's required by their license. I tried almost all of them, and most were fantastic. Not long after we were seated, the remaining tables were all taken just after opening for 30 minutes so I would recommend reserving if you prefer tables over bar seating. The waitress brought over a drinks menu and food menu. The menu showed cocktails at $13. We chose our drinks and ordered, then the waitress came by with a second menu that she said was for Sunday only. She apologized and said she normally doesn't work Sunday's so she didn't know this promotional menu was available. This menu had some cocktails on promotion that I would have not minded to try, but I had already received my cocktail. Oh well. I had the Violet and Claire, which looked great and tasted pretty good for the first half. However by the second half of the drink, it started to taste too sweet. It was not bad for a cocktail, overall. My friend said the Smoke Between the Sheets cocktail was alright as well. We got our bills quickly as we had a second place to visit afterwards. After paying, I snapped a picture of the bill at the time but did not notice until I got home that to my surprise, each cocktail was listed on the bill at $14.95. I recalled their physical menu saying $13, and verified this with their menu online. Unfortunately, I did not notice the discrepancy until I was home, otherwise I would have mentioned something. Note that our visit was at the end of November 2021, and at the time I'm writing this review (December 26, 2021), their online menu still has cocktail prices at $13. So, I am not sure if this was a one time mistake when we paid, or if they have just forgotten to update their menu? Either way, this was disappointing. Because of the entire experience I probably won't visit again, especially with all the other options Vancouver has for cocktails.

I have seen a lot of good reviews about this place and convinced our party of 8 to come try it…read moresince it's in our neighborhood and we have been looking for a new local Greek restaurant since Panos on Marine Drive closed down. Sadly, we were sooooo disappointed! We came on a Saturday evening at peak time, around 6:30pm, so granted, we expected it to be busy. We were sat nearly right away in comfortable booths with tables. The waitress brought us menus and water. So far so good! We ordered our food, nothing crazy, several got the special of the night, lamb souvlaki with potatoes rice and pita. A couple ordered the seafood pasta, one asked for red sauce instead of cream sauce and two asked for veggie lasagna's but they only had one order available. When we asked about the beers on menu, we were told each one was unavailable except for Heineken and the seasonal beer. When we asked what it was, she didn't know. She then brought the can of beer over and said she wasn't sure what type it was. Fair enough! She was young, seemed new and not quite trained with alcohol so no big deal. It gave us a giggle. It was a Granville Island radler btw. I ordered a Heineken and my friend ordered the yummy sounding spicy passionfruit margarita. My beer came fairly quick but no margarita. Then the young waitress came out to say that our food would take a bit longer to come out since they were a bit slammed with orders and asked if we wanted any appetizers. We decided we'd be ok, and decided to wait. One hour later!!!!! I'm not joking, one hour later, the margarita drink came out. Again, we noticed very young and probably newly hired staff attempting to make drinks. When this $19 drink came out, it looked like the rim of salt was touched with fingers and a lot of it was missing. However, my friend desperate for a drink or morsel of anything, decided to just have it as it came. She said it was delicious and the best thing she had. One hour and a half later!!! Our food came out. My medium rare lamb was cooked through and the pasta with red sauce came out with a cream sauce, but there was NO way we were going to send anything back as we were pretty hangry at this point. The potatoes were delicious, the rice extremely plain. All 8 of us agreed that for the price, service and quality of food, we would not be returning, although my friend said if the passionfruit drink was on the happy hour menu, she would consider it. All in all, very disappointed.

I ate at two other tasting menu spots while I was here and this place was a clear winner. It's a one Michelin star restaurant and absolutely lives up to the hype. We did the tasting menu and every single course was delicious. There were a lot of flavor combinations I'd never had before, and the presentation was on point. They took the time to explain each dish, which I really appreciated. The chef clearly focuses on seasonality and local ingredients, so the menu changes by season. This tasting menu was themed around "Preservation," which made the experience even more interesting. The ambiance was top notch. The space felt warm, intimate, and thoughtfully designed, which really elevated the whole experience without feeling stuffy or overdone. The pacing was perfect, about two hours total, and I left very full and very happy. Can't wait to come back.

I didn't realize the restaurant did sushi platters and oysters - what a pleasant surprise! The oysters were delicious. For the sushi I've definitely had better, but was still impressed that the restaurant had this kind of platter available. Portions were really big and among the dishes, the miso cod was a big standout with great flavour and texture. I also enjoyed the matcha tiramisu dessert as it was not too sweet. The staff were very friendly and attentive to replenishing drinks. I believe some of the drinks were made specifically for the event so I'm not sure if any of the ones I had are on the regular menu. However, the drinks were delicious and the 'Ryujin' especially was my favourite one (the glass with dragonfruit garnished over top!) It was fruity, sweet, and deceivingly tasted like tropical juice. I would like to return to experience the restaurant on its own sometime. In the meantime, it's an excellent spot for private events!

We ordered earlier in the day, and the shucker was clearly alert, taking the extra steps to ensure a clean finish. Truffle fries were indulgent and perfectly crisp, though the garlic aioli was milder than I prefer -- almost like straight mayo without a punch. I skipped the sushi wrap, sticking to my traditionalist ways, but my friend enjoyed it. Brownie bites, complimentary as they were, were a disappointment. Lacking enough fat and possibly stored improperly, they tasted a bit stale -- a shame, because how does a brownie not taste good? Our server was attentive and charming, swooping in at just the right moments for round twos and top-offs, which made the experience that much smoother.
