When I noticed that Deli South had Corned Beef Hash on the menu - I knew that further investigation was required. Turns out it is a scratch-made Corned Beef Hash. Ordered that with two eggs over easy and Rye toast. Paid with Apple Pay. They give you a number to place on your table and then they bring the food to your table. The corned beef was chopped on the small side - which IMO makes for better "hash." There were some potatoes mixed in. Overall, very tasty. Rye toast comes unbuttered - I should request they pre-butter the toast - by the time it gets out to you - the toast has cooled off and it's harder to spread the butter. This was AMZING. The sandwiches here are definitely made with love. I can tell here that the employees here love what they do. They took my order with a smile on their faces. Not only did they serve me a sandwich but also brightened up my day with the positivity they bring to their shop. The place is also really nice. It can get packed but there's room for everyone and the all seats make up for it. It never gets too loud thanks to the respectful people that come here. Look this is NOVA - you're just not getting NY level deli here. Is Deli South the jewel in the crown of delis? No it isn't, but it has something that is hard to find around here, consistent decent food and great service. The food is good, not epic, not drive 2 hours out of your way amazing- but it's good. We were hungry. Driving through the town of Leesburg and finding an awesome deli place was a win win for the weekend. Yelp gave these guys food reviews and I was hooked. I love the custom sandwich option. I went to town with a fully customized wrap from the sauce to the meat. The lettuce was super crisp and portioned well. This place has a nice and pleasant atmosphere, but the food I ordered was just alright in my opinion. The other items people ordered looked more appetizing. I had ordered the corned beef Reuben sandwich with fries, yogurt and chocolate milk. the Reuben sandwich was kind of thin with not a lot of meat and lots of sauerkraut, and it tasted kind of imbalanced(?) which is disappointing for a near $8 sandwich. T hey also forgot my fries and took the sandwich back to get it, which I thought was weird because I wanted eat quickly and I thought they'd just bring the fries out separately- which they eventually did anyway on another plate. Lastly, the yogurt we got was expired and had to get a refund. Not a good first experience, but since I'm in the area quite often, I'll try this place again and see if there are different results next time. read more

Great spot for breakfast! The chorizo breakfast burrito was massive and packed with chorizo, egg, cheese, and potatoes. Comes with small containers of salsa/sour cream, but with the size of this burrito, you'll probably need more. The tried and true, the original, taken for granted, "Old Leesburg" haunt. Many things come to mind for Deli South, and they are all true. We've been coming here for years, mostly for a quiet breakfast, reading the paper, sipping good coffee and seeing our Leesburg friends come in, grab their bagel/sandwich/omelets heading to the farmers market or running errands. Always delicious, sometimes just crazy busy (busy market days for instance) and good quality. Chorizo omelet is amazing, hash and eggs is also fantastic. Bagels are huge and various spreads hit the spot. Reasonable prices, accommodating, seem to have a good sense for COVID requirements, and well worth a pop in if around the area. Oh, and to confirm, they do lunch as well, and their sandwiches are very, very good. read more

Delis are a dime a dozen, and at most can be quite an unforgettable experience and the ones that shine can make your mouth water just at the mention of their name. Deli South has been around Leesburg for years, and most of the time they do a good job with their selection of sandwiches, soups and breakfast offerings. Yesterday was a most unforgettable visit except for the vegetable bisque....I remembered it all afternoon :) Note to the owners, some veggies require you to make sure the strings are removed otherwise you find yourself pulling them out of your teeth at the dinner table. Also, can we just talk salt content for a while?? IMHO less is the way to go, especially if a soup is in hot hold and as time goes by the flavors intensify...ergo, large quantities of water were consumed for the rest of the day. I ordered a bagel split, toasted and requested tomato and a slice of provolone to be melted open-faced. What I picked up at the counter as our name was shouted across the kitchen, was a toasted bagel with a slice of provolone (somewhat limp from the heat of the toasting of the bagel itself) topped with a couple of scrappy under-ripe tomato slices...OYE VAYE! My husband's sub was full of meat and fresh lettuce and hot peppers...but, sorry folks yes, there is a but....the bread was either stale or had been brought out of the freezer and thawed. You can always tell people because the crust is not crisp and there is a funny taste that only freezing can provide. I've had better here, and we'll probably end up there again (in a hurry, headed to a soccer game down the street), but not as a normal routine I'm afraid. I prefer to do more positive reviews, but let's face it would you want to read any more from me if I wasn't honest??? read more
