Reminds me of a good ole fashion NY Italian deli. If you are looking for "warm and fuzzy" service, forgetaboutit. You order, you wait patiently, you get your sandwich. I had a "Devine Italiano" and it was really good, plenty of meat. Nice clean store, plenty if Italian specialty foods to buy. I must admit disappointment, especially after reading about this CRAZY ITALIAN HOAGIE !! YES, it has Capicola Ham (gabagooh, you know where I'm from) Mortadella and Provolone cheese, some of the Italian specialty meats - BUT just ONE SLICE of each... and yes, the lettuce, onions, and tomato were very fresh and tasty mixed in vinegar and oils. But I don't, and wasn't expecting, the lettuce, onions, and tomatoes to be the main ingredient in a hoagie. As you can see in my photos. Definitely needs more meats and cheeses to really and truly rate as a hoagie, whether it's an Italian hoagie or otherwise. I will say I have had my share of cannoils. These were fresh and cheesy. I've been here many times. And I can honestly say that I am disappointed! I WATCHED the owner (man) weight the meat for my sandwich, (put it on the scale....take some of the scale) until the quantity was right . Then after he was satisfied with the weight, pull the meat off the scale then proceed to throw some BACK IN the supply meat container before using the rest to make my sandwich!! I did NOT like the sneaky tactics! And I have to wonder how long he's been doing that.....and what ELSE is he hiding?!?!? read more

This was a great find close to Mama's Laundromat. I thought it was delicious while an East Coast colleague thought it "wasn't bad." I will say that I wish I knew more what "with everything" consisted of when I ordered my Veggie Sub. I did order it "spicy" so they added extra peppers, but the only thing else I would have tweaked would have been to leave off the mayo. I am used to ordering veggie subs that usually just come with oil and vinegar or some sort of oil-based dressing. This sub did have oil and vinegar, so I thought the mayo was overkill. Other than that, it was a damn tasty sub. This is a nice little old school deli that is thankfully out of the way from the main Leesburg congestion. read more

Tried RJ's for the first time due to my usual go-to sub shop being closed. Honestly, I was a bit disappointed. The meats tasted good, but there was just not enough. The sub was mostly veggies. I was also disappointed in the selection of options on the menu for Italian subs. I would think for Italian specialty subs, there would be more than 2 or 3 meats. I guess I made the mistake of ordering a steak & cheese instead of one of the Italian subs people rave about in the reviews. It's a cute little shop but there was only one guy behind the counter doing everything, and he was fairly dismissive with service. I ignored that and thought the sandwich will be worth it, especially after a 20-minute wait. Well, nope, it wasn't. It was probably the worst steak & cheese I've had in years. The beef was chopped up almost like ground beef and there were barely any toppings. The bread was a little stale. I was so annoyed. Only thing that made me give 2 stars was they had the brand of seasoning I've been looking for for years. I may give them another try but not going out of my way. read more

Ordered the super hog sub through Grubhub and when I sandwich arrived the ham was rancid, it smelled incredibly strong to the point that I am unsure how anyone thought it was okay. The sandwiches here are huge! Absolutely delicious. I have tried a variety of different items on the menu and all were good! They also have an abc license, so I can grab some beer or wine with my food! I have eaten here more than 10 times and never had a bad experience. It not only has an authentic feel to the deli but also seems to have a good choice to eat for whatever mood I am in. I will be back soon! read more

RJ's deserves every one of these 5 stars, one for each unique speciality Italian Hoagie they whip up MTO style. I was there for the second time this week today, and was treated great by the managers, as usual, walking out with a huge smile on my face after punishing a regular sized Crazy Italian hoagie. This is by far my favourite place to get a sandwich in Western/Central Loudoun. If you want a taste of what a real New York hero is like, this is the place to go. First try of this deli, so I used this app to place a order for 2 hero's. Husband arrived 15 minutes later to pick up and he was asked if he placed the order online, when responding with yes, he was told they would have to make the sandwiches. So he sat and waited. What's the point of ordering online if you still have to wait for it to be made? Oh and they didn't add the tomato (which was asked for) and they decided to put pepper on half of my sandwich, half of it and I didn't even ask for it. read more

While placing the order online I thought the menu looked a bit pricey, but the reviews were so good I wanted to give them a chance. Once I got the food home and unwrapped, I was not disappointed. We were surprised to find this place was very small and has the look of a quick serve place, which it is not. The server: very nice and attentive. No one here seemed to actually be from Italy, which we are accustomed to when going to Italian places. Food: the crispy artichoke appetizer was good. The whipped ricotta appetizer was delicious. For meals, we got the bucatini and this one pasta with a pumpkin cream sauce. They were both OK, I didn't love the Brussel sprouts in my dish, just didn't go well. We also ordered the side of chicken parm for protein, which was big and good. For dessert the cappuccino was good but was sweet for some reason (I didn't ask for any sweetener). The tiramisu was pretty good, I imagine homemade, especially with it being more yellow which is more traditional.
