On 1/16/25 my mother had to go to the E.R. for having an extreme reaction to the peanuts /peanut oil the server insisted were not present in the dish when asked TWICE. This is absolutely unacceptable . Literally adding insult to injury, she informed the staff that she was having a reaction after taking one bite and they still attempted to charge her for the dish with peanuts. Miraculously, when approached again, the server suddenly remembered the dish did in fact contain peanuts. To the owner(s) and managers, please train your staff better. This was completely avoidable. If this was a language barrier issue, you must know how dangerous it is to serve food that can harm people and not be able to understand the language of your customers.

We came with our toddler, and they were very accommodating, asking if we preferred a booth or a table since we'd be clipping her high chair onto the table. Mood inside is dimly lit with Miró prints on the walls. A number of groups there that night were celebrating birthdays, so it was definitely a good vibe! We all ordered sangrias, 2 of the Miró (red) sangrias and 2 of the passion fruit (white, sparkling) sangrias. All were so delicious! Amongst the 4 of us, we split the paella de carne, gambas al ajillo, mejillones, and pulpo gallego - this was the perfect amount of food! The warm rolls they provided were so good on their own and even more amazing when dipped in the shrimp and mussel sauces. We ended the night with a flan, which was nice and caramel-y. Service was friendly, and they did speak Spanish, which was a bonus for us. I'll definitely be returning and recommending to others!

The cocktail menu did not skew overly sweet, as so many tend to. The skinny ranch water was crisp and they also made me an excellent off menu mezcal Negroni. We had the empanadas and the fried calamari to start. The latter was especially good. If I'm ever back I'd explore the tapas more. I had the wild caught Caravina, a delicious white fish, nicely seared and beautifully presented. The paella also looked great. Would have loved to try the flan, but we'd had plenty of food by then. The service was excellent. We weren't rushed and our server had great recommendations. The ambience was very relaxed and it wasn't too noisy, making it easy to talk and catch up. A nice spot for an enjoyable evening out.

I can't speak to the quality of the main drinks, since we stuck to the mimosas. They were alright, but anything that's actually a buck nowadays is getting 5 stars from me unless it's downright bad. These weren't bad, and they offered multiple juice options to mix it up. The food is fantastic. Between the flavor and presentation, you can tell they take pride in what they're serving. The server was very friendly and the place is nice and clean. We'll be back.

The Serrano, chorizo, and Manchego paired with tart green apple and membrillo was an easy favorite. Most recently, I stopped in on a Wednesday night just to grab a drink and a bite at the bar. For a random weeknight, the vibe was surprisingly lively--packed room, energetic buzz through the open garage doors, and the bartender never missed a beat. A few standouts: - Espresso 43 ($15): Genuinely one of my favorite espresso martinis in Charlotte. The Licor 43 gives it a velvety, subtly sweet finish that plays off the roasted coffee without tasting like straight syrup. The star anise garnish on top was a nice touch. - Red Sangria ($9): Dangerously drinkable, well-spiced, and not overloaded with sugar. - Ceviche ($16): Super bright and refreshing leche de tigre, balanced out with those crispy, delicate sweet potato chips. Whether you're settling in for a long tapas dinner or just dropping by for a mid-week nightcap, it hits every time!

From the beginning he was quick to respond to all my endless questions regarding our wedding. We actually live in Asheville and wanted authentic paella so when I found out Hugo was from Spain I had to reach out to him and see if he was willing to cater our wedding. After trying his paella at soda city I knew he was the one. I made some very important decisions that day and I honestly feel I couldn't have done any better than spanish bite! We needed about 200 servings and he made it happen flawlessly! The seafood and the all you can meat were the stars of the show but the vegetarian had those animal lovers just as elated! I got compliments all night from how great it smelled to how cool it was to watch them make it to how awesome it was that they could get thirds!! THIRDS!!! I love to eat but even more I love to see people enjoying food .... It's love at first bite!

Everything was delicious and very plentiful. We started with a number of tapas including gazpacho, serrano toast, skewers of manchega and tomatoes, and vinaigrette mussels. We then enjoyed the beautifully presented paella and ended with flan and churros with chocolate sauce. It would be hard for me to pick a favorite. Everything was excellent. Having Hugo cater a Spanish feast was much more memorable than just a dinner out at a restaurant. Our meal was a huge highlight of the family weekend.

Even when crowded, the spacing of the tables and overall layout ensured it never got too loud. The food was amazing!! My mom and I split several tapas, my favorite was probably the green beans! Everything we had was delicious- the paella, the charred green beans, the grilled Caesar. The cocktails were also really good and worth treating yourself. If you can, save room for dessert! They had a nice range on their dessert menu and I gobbled up the pot de crème. Our waiter was fantastic, checked on us throughout the meal, kept our waters full and made sure we had what we needed. Also, the bathroom smelled AMAZING. This may seen a little silly to include, but they had some fresh lilies in there which made the whole bathroom smell lovely (and I'm sure cover all the less pleasant usual bathroom smells ). Just a really nice detail. You can tell how much thought and attention is put into this restaurant, from the food, to the layout, to the service. Everything is given real care. This place is a gem. We will absolutely be back!

Boca is one of those restaurants that I had wanted to try growing up, but I never did because it…read morewas a bit out of my price range. That said, I finally got the opportunity to try it. It is known as a Spanish and Mediterranean restaurant that serves various tapas. There is a lot of indoor seating as well as some outdoor seating, which is decorated elegantly. The ambiance is moody and somewhat upscale for a small town. I found the service to be solid. My friend and I got the Bruschetta Whipped Ricotta, Shrimp Tacos, Moroccan Chicken Tagine, Argentinian Roast Pork Sliders, and Bourbon Pecan Pie. In terms of the tapas, the Moroccan Chicken Tagine was delicious! It is a hearty and herby stew with shredded chicken that comes with this (complimentary?) warm and fluffy bread to dip into the stew. I was disappointed in the Bruschetta Whipped Ricotta. While the pita chip by itself was good, the toppings of sun-dried tomatoes, artichoke, and herbs on it made it taste more like a slice of pizza with tomato sauce. The Shrimp Tacos were decent. I could tell that the shrimp was seasoned, potentially a bit overseasoned, and the chipotle aioli gave it a good taste. The best dish for me was the Bourbon Pecan Pie. It came out piping hot but when paired with the vanilla ice cream, it melted in my mouth. I also did not find it too sweet, which was a plus for me! Overall, I think Boca is a lovely spot for a date night. The food leaves more to be wanted though, especially when basing items off of Moroccan and Spanish flavors. I am also biased coming from a larger city where this type of food was popular and readily available. I would probably rate this spot a 3.75/5 stars if I could.
