Unfortunately I didn't have the best visit at bulla Gastrobar! My friends and I came in during restaurant week this past Thursday night and I had such high hopes. The bulla mule was very tasty they had some cardamom syrup in there for a fun flair and their patatas bravas were also good to start with a few positives. The ceviche started out really good but then I bit into a piece of fish that was still iced and frozen on the inside which wasn't great. I decided to get the paella with chicken and it was a huge portion, but overall pretty bland so I requested some sauce to help it. When I had my meal my fork was taken from appetizers and no one came by to help for almost ten minutes and the first person I asked forgot. The service in general was just very slow. Best things the table ordered: pork skewers, corn cream that came with steak with steak, patatas bravas, mango sorbet that came with the flan

I was quite impressed with their wide variety of food selections. They have plenty of Tapas which includes a chorizo sausage. I'd recommend perusing the menu prior to coming. See photos attached. Calamari is what I was craving, so Calamari was ordered. I was very pleased with my steak. There are plenty drink selections. They have plenty wine selections, so that made me happy.

While visiting we decided to give these guys a try since the menu looked good & it was close to where we wanted go. Drinks to start we had Pink panther , Bougie Palmer , they were not bad good in taste light on the alcohol. On the food we decide to give a few of the tapas a try , they start u off with some bread & olive oil, not bad. We had the Meatballs , these were good , The Garlic shrimp was a favorite for us, good tasting shrimp, nice dipping the bread in the sauce. The Montadotos was the winner this was very good & finally the Truffle Carbonara , it was not bad good taste to the sauce & pasta. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice looking place with a nice but simple decor, dimly lit, service was not bad a little on the slow side but not terrible.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Good music playing, we enjoyed our meal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Montadito de Chistorra: This dish had Spanish-style sausage, piquillo confit (peppers slow-cooked in oil), and just the right amount of shredded manchego. Perfect for my meat and cheese lovers. Truffle Carbonara: While it's a classic carbonara, the addition of truffles makes it truly exceptional. My fiancé couldn't keep his fork off my plate, and I can't blame him - it's that good! Bulla Burger: This burger is amazing! With piquillo peppers, caramelized onions, cheese and a honey thyme glaze all on a brioche bun - pairing it with their saucy papayas bravos makes it even better.

Had a wonderful birthday brunch for my friend here! She reserved a mimosa tower and we had a great long table next to the bar. Service was great as we had 6 people and the waiter kept up with us all nicely. I ordered patatas bravas, charcuterie, and not pictured a kale caesar salad. I was impressed with all of the food and can't wait to come back and try more. They were out of the churros though and I was looking forward to trying these

Immediately bringing up a rival rating service was not what I initially had in mind for this review....but Google has them at 6,000 plus reviews, and a 4.9 overall rating. That's an incredible sample size. The good news is they lived up to the hype. As soon as you enter you are greeted warmly by the hostess. You are then lead through the beautifully laid out dining room. The entire space is well designed and decorated, the art is tasteful, and the lightning is very fitting for a laid back dining experience. As I got comfortable, Delilah my server appeared with menus and a wealth of knowledge. She asked was it our first time, and when I said yes her eyes lit up! She recited the entire menu by heart, not in a rushed robotic way either. Small details about what was spicy, or a house favorite she had it covered. 5 star service from Delilah. Then comes the food, I order the patatas, and grilled steak small plates. The patatas came out piping hot and flavorful, a great compliment for my grilled steak. The steak itself was a perfect medium well temp, the overall flavor was magnified by the cumin. The dish came with a mushroom foam on the side, and it was a nice offset for the heaviness of the meat. Lastly I decided to go for the trifecta, and try the paella de pollo. I will say it was good but not mind blowing. I've had it in Madrid a few times, and still wasn't too impressed with the dish in general. But I had to give it a shot. Overall 5 star service, 5 star food, 5 star ambiance. This should be atop your very shortlist of restaurants to try if you haven't. Pro tip: Have a marg! The lavender margarita suggested to us by Delilah was A1. Just ask for light ice, it's already a short glass and the ice is overflowing. Otherwise a incredibly crafted cocktail.

We had a lovely birthday brunch for my friend here. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The mimosa tower and our long table by the bar made it extra special.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was great, even with our group of six. The menu has a wide variety, especially the tapas, I'd recommend checking it out beforehand. I odered steak, and shared some patatas bravas, charuterie, and a kale Caesar salad. The chorizo sausage on the tapas menu was a standout. Drinks and wine selections were excellent. The only letdown was that they were out of churros, I'll definitely be back to try them next time.

I love this place! It's more on the pricier, fancier side. Been here twice, and the tapas here are some of my favorite to get. They have a variety of tapas, and all are delicious and flavorful. The tuna tar tar was so yummy with the wonton chips. Cocktails were okay. Service was very nice. Staff was nice and food came out in a reasonable time :) [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance is very nice. Like I said before, it on the fancier side, so it's perfect for a birthday dinner, girls night, or date night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Check this place out!!

So on arriving I was a little concerned. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The location is very nice but part of a mall, not my thing at all.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But the reviews are excellent so we proceeded. My concerns were entirely unfounded. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The food, drinks, service (Naomi is awesome!) and atmosphere were excellent.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We are planning on moving to Charlotte within the year and this place will be on heavy rotation!

Great service (we had Camila), all food and drinks ordered were really good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a great ambience and really a taste of Spain[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Wish the menu given was the same as the QR that is on table so we had to keep scanning to see all options

I have to admit we love this place. The food and service is great. This time we went for lunch. The portions were great and it was a great value. We decided to add the tomato Brad to our order and this is the only constructive criticism I have. The tomato bread this day was flavorless. I do make my own and like rosemary and a bit of salt to create a great flavor. This had no seasoning at all and for $19 with cheese and ham a bit of a let down. Our server at the bar was outstanding. Allowed my wife to try multiple wines in her birthday to choose the one she really wanted. I would recommend this place to anyone. We love it and continue to go every time we have a chance.

Ask the Community - Bulla Gastrobar

Is there brunch on weekdays as well?

Bulla Gastrobar only serves brunch on the weekends from 11a-4p.

Cab the paella feed more than one person?

Yes, it can definitely feed at least two people. I had the seafood one, and I liked the prawns the best.

Modern high ceilings keep the sound level high and white/black modernist decor gives the impression that patrons are more intent on talking than taking the time for serious eats. That said, the bar side seating is less noisy so pull up a table. The menu is smallish for tapas but that doesn't mean the kitchen is trying too hard. We had empanadas; good flavor but there was little sauce for the beef filling and the pastry was grey instead of golden. Shrimp are served in a red hot earthenware bowl with 6 simmering in an hot oil-heavy broth. The oil was spicy and surprisingly better with the big crusty bread hunk served alongside. Shrimp were a bit mealy and were likely thawed. Stuffed red peppers were very good with plenty of cheese filling and a tangy balsamic glaze. Drinks are fast from the nearby bar and there are occasional $1 mojitos that bring in nearby Southenders. Service is pleasant and fast; parking is in the adjacent deck across from the bank. We'll return to try some different things next time to see if the kitchen is upping their game and to try the paella, which takes time to make right and the menu reflects that 30-45 minute wait for that signature dish.
