I had orders a cake over a month ago paying $272.00 dollars in total for a two layer cake. Today I received a call telling me I would need to pay an extra 60.00 dollars for fondón that was not added to my bill. I will no longe be bringing my business to this location. I told them my budget and they told me what they could accommodate me. now 3 days before the party I need to rush to find a new bakery. I was so satisfied with my purchase of cakes at this location. I purchased a total of 3 cakes for my twins first Birthday and they did not disappoint. The large sheet cake was marble with vanilla custard. It was so moist, fluffy , and not too sweet! The fondant work on the farm themed cake was stunning! It was exactly how I asked for it . I also got two small cakes , marble cake with chocolate chip filling ( as this filling is one of the most popular) The guest at the party kept asking me where I got these delicious cakes ! The only negative thing about this place is they do not have a separate line for cake pick ups . Zero for customer service.. I walked into the bakery last month to find two employees head down fixed on their phones with no hesitation and no regard for the customer who just walked in. I walked up to one of them and asked a question. The young woman's head was still down until she answered the question. I used to work at this place. Maybe its because I personally worked behind the scenes that I despise it so much. Maybe its the fug owner who seemed so caring and grandma-ish when I interviewed, but quickly turned into a pompous tyrant. But lets just stick to the food. Every employee that works there touches the food when you're not looking. That I promise you. Maybe it happens at other places and its not a big deal, but it happens. And when youre constantly dealing with 409, its not a good idea. If you notice in the pastry section, theres no sliding doors like most bakeries have. And, the bakery also has a decent amount of fruit flies. I've had to brush them off for customers at times. All those pastries that are not refrigerated by the way, they are simply covered with plastic trash covers at night. Theres a really simple way to remediate this (really): invest in sliding doors to keep out critters, and you won't have to use trash bags stuffed in a dusty cabinet. Some things are not even covered properly. Also, everything in that bakery is color coded for freshness, not for what day the items are made, but for what day the items are put OUT. Not that this matters, but I always felt pressured to lie to customers and make their products seem fresh(er) and as if they were made day of. Its frozen and put out night before when theres room for it. But the worst thing ever was when I worked with a MANAGER there and I dropped cookies on the floor, and she decided to put them back on the tray because no customers were near. "Five second rule" she said and walked away. Whatever, I hated the customers. ALSOOO, they prepare a lot of their cookies and pastries on top of a trash can because theres not a lot of room on their workbench. So they place a lot of trays over the smelly trash. Yum. And you'd think they'd get the B or C they deserve on their rating, but the owner seems to have good connections with the health inspector that visits there. I'm sure a lot of bakeries run this way, but experiencing it was the worst experience for me. and the pastries are sometimes still yummy. Actually, I'll freely admit their cream puffs are their most delicious (and safest) asset. However, despite this, I got free pastries when I worked there (so I didn't care for quality) and I guarantee a penny will never go spent here from me. read more

This is my boyfriend's account. Im here at my sons birthday party at this moment and even though i told them (written on my receipt as well) that i was going to pick up my order between 1-2, my sister JUST left the bakery now (3:30), AND they had her wait for 30 minutes there. Thanks to them, they made her miss half of the party. Whats the point of asking your customer what time your order needs to be ready if it wont even be available at that time? Quite unprofessional of them. They said they had a lot of orders to prepare since it was the weekend.. Then next time dont bother to ask when i want my order ready. Many of my guests werent even able to try it out because my cupcakes and cake arrived so late. Aside from the delay, I wasnt even impressed with the taste. Im not saying it tasted bad, but I couldve easily picked up something from Vons and it wouldnt have made a difference (I ordered a choc cake with chic chip filling). Im very disappointed. I signed up just to review this place. To be fair I never tried their wares, as they didn't give me the chance. We had gotten a quote form them for cakes. We needed a large order of cakes (approximately 11 8-inch cakes) We were quoted relatively reasonably but then when we mentioned that this was for our wedding reception, (not that we needed specialty decorated cakes for the wedding just the plain cakes we were originally quoted for) The price went up 50%. no change in product, no change in delivery time, merely a change in the TYPE OF EVENT the cakes were going to upped the price. So they lose our business and all our friends as well. Good planning folks. I never saw the place and I believe the sanitation complaints since the complaints for DISHONESTY were spot on. read more

anyone else thoroughly disturbed by Patrick H.'s review?!?!? I just bought a box full of cookies that i'm not even sure i should eat. I'm hoping that since the review was some 3 years ago, things have drastically changed and this chocolate rugula i'm putting in my mouth right now is perfectly untainted... My family is really big fan of the cookies here so whenever we're in the neighborhood we drop in for a few. The other stuff?? not so much. The cakes are a little dry and crumbly and the breads are a bit too soft. They definitely need a bit more bounce in their step. the servers are a little short sometimes... trying to just push you along and not really making much effort to interact. What kinda got me last night was that they were putting out more cupcakes in the display close to closing which didn't really make much sense.... aren't you suppose to make those in the morning so that they're fresh for the day?!?!? confusions.... I originally wanted a birthday cake from Porto's for approx 60 ppl for my daughter's b-day party but as it turns out, when I called Porto's to order the cake, I was quoted an outrageous amount of $$$ and I was also told I had to call 3 weeks in advance to order...?????? WORST BAKERY EVER!! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS PLACE!! I placed an order for cupcakes a week in advance, even emailed and provided a photo of what I was requesting. The girl who took my order told me they could create the cupcakes and I paid the deposit (I also asked them to give me a call if they encountered any issues). The day of my sons birthday party I arrived to pick up the cupcakes @ 10:00am his party was at 2:00pm. I stumbled upon Delicious Bakery and decided to give it a world. First, I checked out the place to see the variety of their baked goods. I finally decided on grabbing a mixture of cookies ranging from chocolate chip to raspberry danishs'. Delicious indeed! I never imagined that my local neighborhood bakery would be this good but it is. Delicious Bakery is located in small run strip mall with various other food places and is in the corner and not easily seen. The shop itself is small and sometimes, it gets so crowded, there's barely any room but for good reason: this place has the best baked goods in the valley. If you want something homemade and indulgent, this would be the place to get it at a good price. I recommend their chocolate chip horns - they are so good and you will find yourself eating the entire thing in one sitting. Don't be surprised if you want another one. Terrible service. Came in specifically for a particular pastry, in additional to other items. The server took my order, got a box, and started to get the particular pastry I wanted. A lady sitting there seem to whisper something in her ear and she all of a sudden stopped, walked away and said, I'll be right back. She was gone for several minutes. Comes back and says, sorry but those are for someone else. I'm thinking, what the heck? They are there. You were serving it to me (leaves me hanging for several minutes and now I can't have it because a caller wants them?). I was surprised. This was absolutely ludicrous. If there had been a phone order prior to my arrival, shouldn't them have taken them off display. There were several. All I wanted was one from that particular pastry. If is on display and your about to serve it to me, how do you now tell me it's for someone else? Almost in the box, and they change their mind. I got upset. Awful traffic, bad day, and this just topped it off. Forget about it... I walked off and didn't order a darn thing. Truly unacceptable. I did call to speak to the manager Samantha who was courteous, but all she could say was "sorry". What can we do to make it better. They should have asked this when I was still there instead of just saying sorry. You can't sorry bad service. Besides, if the order had been previously done, they items should have immediately been taken off the display. Otherwise, they are available -- or should be, anyway. It's like a store reflecting a price and then charging you more at the cash register. Some people may think this is silly, but at the end of the day, service is service.
