Ordered a custom cake for 40 people. They promised to deliver it to the restaurant directly. When the restaurant brought out the cake we were absolutely in complete shock. The cake was nothing like we ordered. The shape, color and decorations were completely different. The frosting looked like it was applied by a child. Outside of of the store front and general area looks pretty beat-up and scary, although I didn't care as I was here for some Gata cookies/pastries (see my pic). It was $7 for about a dozen of these and they're best when freshly made and warm -absolute deliciousness. Very simple ingredients: flour, butter, yeast, margarine, sugar and vanillin -and taste amazing. Service from Daniel was direct and I had to ring the bell at the counter to get his attention at the front of the store. Seems that everyone else was baking in the other adjoined room. Inside was full of knickknacks decor, not too many of the cakes/desserts featured. No inside or outside seating. No frills kinda bakery, but the Gata cookies are worth it. This great treat is 100% natural, crispy on outside and nice smooth doughy inside. Nice caramel color from the egg wash makes it even more appetizing. It is not very sweet. Fairly light comparably to the other Gatas. All resulting in a delicious cookie that will be very hard to resist eating just one! Fantastic with coffee, Tea or hot chocolate. Freshness is guaranteed since they also distribute throughout the city. They are open from 9 to 3 six days a week. Do not rely on the published internet hours. Call before you go to make sure they are open. I suggest to go there in the morning. I bought this Gata from Jones in Hollywood on Santa Monica Blvd and I'm completely utterly disgusted. When I almost bit into a long piece of hair that was attached into my gata. I can only rate the one item I have tried-their Armenian gata. My bf's mom recently introduced me to this Armenian specialty bread called gata. It is a cross between a sweet bread and a pastry and apparently it comes in two main varieties-a large round bread or in this bakery's case, miniature smaller ones with a crunchy filling. Some research tells me this later version is also called nazook. This place produces gata that will satisfy those who are familiar with it and also please those like me who were not. I shared it with my coworker friends, who have also never tried this or any Armenian pastry-they loved it. If I had to describe it in a way more familiar to Asians/Chinese people, I would say the mouthfeel and flavors are somewhat similar to pineapple bun/boluobao but just entirely different shape-soft sweet bread, crunchy sweet filling in the middle (not top). I think the crunchy filling might contain walnuts-just a warning to those who have nut allergies. Hot tip (pun intended)-place one or two on a napkin and microwave for 20 minutes for a delicious fresh out of the oven feel. read more

I have been amazed with their cakes for quite a while. My mother used to get them for special occasions as well as for tea time with friends up in San Jose at Kalinka (Russian Grocery store on Almaden Expwy) Imagine my surprise when I moved down to San Fernando Valley to find out that this little gem is a couple miles from where I work! I come here every month to get a cake for a monthly team meeting (and once in a while a cake for me and my friends) The place is small and doesn't look like much from the outside. It's in the same shopping center as Stars Drive In. They have a few display cakes in the front as well as little pastries. i wish they could have more of a variety, but I don't think they get enough foot traffic for that unfortunately. read more

I ordered a large Grillyage (Triple Chocolate) Cake for my wifes birthday, over the phone, based on the picture from the website. When we picked up the cake, they gave us the small version instead of the large. We returned to pick up the large cake - so we had both at the birthday party. When we cut into the large cake, it was substantially different than the smaller cake (which was delicious). I called the bakery to explain that we didn't get what we ordered, and was told that they never look at the website and that it was my error for ordering a Triple Chocolate cake instead of the Grillyage cake (which is the same cake on their website). We were disappointed that we had to buy two cakes in the first place, and they were completely uninterested in resolving the problem with the large cake. Very frustrating. read more

We wanted to get a custom cake for our baby shower. After calling several other bakeries, we discovered that August was apparently the worst month to try and order a custom cake. And we started looking 4 weeks in advance! The prices quotes almost put an end to our custom cake plan. But then we called Pierre's Cakes and spoke with Elena, the owner. We emailed her a photo of what we wanted, then came to complete our order in person. Not only do they have a large commercial bakery in the back, they also have a large professional team of cake makers. Therefore, they do not get backed up and can take your order on a much more short notice. Second, their pricing is very competitive. Thanks to Pierre's Cakes, we could actually afford to have a beautiful custom cake. Finally, the cake tasted amazingly! We received so many compliments from our guests on the taste alone. The flavor we chose was "chanel", which is very delicate and had just the right balance of sweets and slightly sour. Finally, the entire cake is edible. I called this shop to place a last minute order for my daughter's 3rd birthday. I called on a Thursday for a Saturday pick up (Yes, two days notice). When I first spoke to the very nice lady on the phone, she qouted me $40 for a small cake that feeds 10 people. With fondant frosting (i always thought fondant frosting looks elegant on cake but too sweet for me). The lady wasn't familiar with the disney character I requested so I decided to drop by and show her a picture. Honestly, on my way to the bakery, i was already thinking "if the cake doesn't taste good, it's ok... As long as they can pull off the design that I like". With this in mind, the lady worked with me wit the color scheme i wanted.. In our conversation, i've noticed how detailed she was with the colors and the design. She also explained to me the difference between white chocolate and fondant frosting. I trusted her suggestion on having white chocolate frosting instead of the fondant. She also made a suggestion in the flavor of the cake which is the chocolate mousse. After we agreed on the design that i wanted with no figurine (because of short notice), she still requested pictures sent to her email and ended up with a $35 price on the cake. I paid her a deposit and scheduled a pick up time of 12noon. Saturday - had so much last minute errands and had to pick up the cake at 11:30 instead of noon. I was so excited to see the finished product! (Pic is posted on yelp) i thought it was beautiful! Saturday at the party - after opening the box everyone was surprised on how beautiful the cake was. I even made them guess how much i paid for it! One person thought i paid $80! Haha.. So, cutting of the cake came and tasting came... And everybody LOVED it! My daughter had 3 slices! My husband who's a big critic on cakes also loved it!The cake was moist and flavorful! Some guests thought it was an ice cream cake! i'm not a cAke-fan, especially birthday cakes. I always find them either too sweet and/or too dry. BUT Pierre's pastry changed all that. I am already thinking of my next birthday cake order! =) read more

I brought three pictures of different cakes and told her which details I wanted from which cake. She recommended a few changes and had some great ideas. We got generous portions of different flavors to take home with us to try, and each one was amazing. We couldn't pick just one, so we chose Griliyage and Aristocrat.
