I've been with him for 11+ years and here is what it's like to visit this practice. Arriving- He is in private practice and owns his own very nice stand-alone building with private parking. It is just off US Route 27 North. Parking is a snap. Ambience- The interior is spotless with a comfortable waiting room. I don't spend much time there as his process is very efficient. His treatment rooms are also very comfortable. Network- He is part of the Advent Health System as are all of my specialist MDs. It's wonderful and extremely convenient that all of my Docs have access to all my records! Intake Process- When I show up, I usually see two or sometimes three folks that take care of the basics. They are friendly and efficient, do their thing and then pop me into a treatment room. So customer service is exemplary. I usually wait about five minutes before the boss shows up. Bedside Manner- If you are expecting a crisp white jacket and formal attitude, you are in the wrong place! He usually wears shorts and for me he hits just the right balance between casual and getting the job done! Super easy to talk to. If I get a blood test, he calls me within a week after the results are in. Faster if it's something serious. Language Barrier- Folks sometimes ask me if he has a difficult accent and the answer is absolutely not! Anyone who has ever met him will say the same. A quick visit to the front desk to pick up any follow up paperwork and I'm out of there! Conclusion- So I experience an excellent environment with solid caring and friendly staff. My records are organized across my Docs. Dr. Sharma's bedside manner suits me, and I trust him! It's a solid five stars from me!

The last time I came here was to see Dr. Kattan to go over a "possibly abnormal" EKG for a government position I had applied for. The EKG was taken at another clinic by a flight surgeon. He said is it was most likely normal but wanted a review from my primary care physician saying it was normal and that I don't have a history of heart problems. I have a few Doctor friends that I had look at the EKG and all said that it was normal and that some people had inverted t waves and so long as I've never had chest pains or shortness of breath, that it's normal. All 3 of my doctor friends asked me before hand if I've ever had chest pain or shortness of breath and I responded no. When I visited Jay Care, they of course took a copay. They took my vitals and then I saw Dr. Kattan. She looked at the EKG, knowing that I have a clear medical history, and asked what I needed. I told her I needed a letter on letter head from her to the government agency saying that my EKG was normal. She told me that it wasn't normal without asking any questions about me. I advised her what the other doctors said (including one cardiologist). She didn't really fight me much, and wrote on a prescription pad that my EKG was normal and signed her name. I repeated that I needed it on letter head and that she had to send it. She kind of just shrugged and said to give the note to the front desk to make a copy for my file and that they would take care of it. Then she asked me if I wanted to do blood work. I said no, I feel fine and don't have any symptoms. She seemed shocked. I repeated that all I needed was the letter. That ended the appointment. I checked out. I kept following up to see if they had sent a letter. Finally two weeks later when I called for the 5th time, they told me that Dr Kattan wrote my letter and gave it to me (she was referring to the prescription paper). I repeated that it wasn't sufficient and that I needed it on letter head and that Jay Care had to send it. Bottom line, 6+ months later they still haven't sent anything. I had to go to another clinic that I had gone to before I'd started to go to Jay Care. The doctor took a look, asked me about chest pains and shortness of breath and then quickly determined that it was normal and that I was just one of those people with inverted t waves. Dr. Kattan is no longer my physician and my last visit was basically me paying for nothing.

I wish I could say I was being dramatic- as this "fine office" made sure I felt "dramatic" before finally leaving after a two hour appointment. I have given them chance after chance- hoping and praying something would finally help. Firstly, I have driven my aunt to excel pain and spine for years and she has seen excellent care from Dr. Patel. He is kind, has a well developed listening ear, advocates for his patients, and is all around an excellent dr and man. He goes as far as to call my aunt "Aunt F****" and always greets her with a warm smile and a hug. I brag on him so much to distinguish him from this place and highlight how he is separate from this. I was told I had to see a PA my first visit and could follow up with him later. The first Pa I saw was kind, compassionate and explained everything thoroughly. I did leave crying only because I would be waiting two weeks for injections and two weeks after that for my f/u after already dealing with this pain for months. Also my kidney levels are off ( my creatinine is high) because of how many NSAIDs and tylenols I've been taking to try and cope. I did mention that the ER doc I saw was extremely compassionate as she had dealt with the exact same thing and had to have surgery for it. She even mentioned that nobody truly understood what it was like until they experienced it and that she understood that there was a struggle and stigma around this type Of pain. She advocated for me heavily and prescribe pain medication to help me so far. It was the only thing that could help me get out of bed only because it gave me just enough relief for me to do my dishes without tears, run to the store (with someone to carry things), go to physical therapy or my doctors appointments without too much assistance. She let me know I would be eligible for those (very much only a possibility and only if the injections didn't work). I said absolutely i don't want to need them I just don't know how to make it to that apt without being able to take NSAIDs or anything. She prescribed the meloxicam for emergencies, but unfortunately it isn't worth it often to take. I understand my youth and that I'm too young to be facing this but I am and my symptoms are real. The last thing I would like to do at my age is sit hours in drs offices, or on phones with them. I want to be at my job that I love, going out with friends on the weekends, or just to get out of bed without tears in my eyes. Instead, I'm having to ask for help for the simplest of tasks, sleep my life away, face criticism and accusations most appointments, and constantly fight for myself and my health every day. The wait for the injections was unbearable. I called a week after the apt and begged for new meds or something to help. The said it would be no problem to up my pregabalin and to change my muscle relaxer. The walgreens it was sent to would not take my insurance so I had to call and request it to be sent to a new one on a Friday. Never received them. Finally the injection appointment I had so desperately looked forward to came, they were extremely painful but went smoothly. The dr even stated that while I took them well, he could see and feel how much pain I was in. He told me I was strong and did great and to ice it. I mentioned the meds to him when leaving, he said no problem he'd fix it. A few days goes by and I never get my meds. I say to heck with it I'm already suffering I can't keep begging them, it takes too long to get an answer anyways. Plus when you're throwing up from getting out of bed too fast, you don't have too much energy to wait on hold for an hour. So I keep going, trying to stay positive. I'm waiting each day, praying, begging God to let them work. Each day I was disappointed. I finally see my pcp who finds that the meds were sent to Walgreens but never sent to Publix. I say don't worry I'll call Walgreens then. Walgreens states they have nothing in their system. I have to call my pcp's emergency line to have them filled and as the angel she is, she fills them.
