Why in the world would you spend 25 minutes in a vinegar shop? Because I just discovered that my favorite salad and bread dipping balsamic vinegar can be so much more than I've ever imagined. I've been using "balsamic" vinegar for a very long time. When I run out I go to the market, stop by the vinegar display, pick a Balsamic vinegar, and voila' check it off my shopping list. The only difference I've noticed is the labeling. Those days are officially past. Once in a while, I find a product that is amazingly good, and inevitably it's in a shop that's a bit inconvenient to get to. For example, there is one chocolate shop in New York City, that is the only outlet in the US for chocolate confections that are just sublimely superior to any other chocolate I've tasted anywhere in the world. Today, if I don't come home with a couple of boxes, you'll know I did not really make it to Manhatten.
