Birthday find! What a gem of a restaurant, clean, friendly, great service. We were celebrating my husband's birthday and so we ordered some yummy stuff. Onion rings for appetizers, oh my, what a great surprise. The rings are huge, large serving, hot and delicious! I'd come back just for the onion rings. I had the classic burger with French fries, which was cooked to perfection, in my opinion. I loved the bun it was served on, it was soft and didn't fall apart while holding the burger. The fries were crisp and delicious! My husband ordered the classic burger, but included the baked beans, which he liked, even though he thought was sweet. He actually ordered it so I could try it, and I'm not a bbq gal, but I will order them next time we visit, and we will definitely visit again, soon. Just a side note, the chef and two other employees were seated near us, having a meeting, as the restaurant was getting busy, the chef got up and helped seat the guests that had just entered so as not to have to wait for the server, she was busy too. I was impressed, he didn't hesitate, and as I said, it's very friendly. Del's is easy to find and access, be rue to try it soon. Happy eating read more

Came to get an early dinner and drinks with our friends who live near by. Everybody jumped into their food before I could take pictures of what they ordered, but overall we were all happy with our choices, which included the Big'O Sammie, Fish and Chips, BBQ Brisket Sammie (mine), and the BBQ plate. We also got the loaded Frieda to share for the table, which we upgraded to tater tots because...well, TATERS! Overall we were really happy with the service, cleanliness, and staff. I got my sammie with a side of Collard Greens, which were well made and flavorful. Sometimes they can be too salty, but they found a great balance here. Would highly recommend this place if you want to watch any sporting events too. You'll get a good viewing spot pretty much anywhere you sit. read more

Met up with some friends for some day drinking today. None of us had been here, or even heard of it. Recommended by another friend who'd only heard about it. I arrived just as it opened at 11:30 and grabbed a big table in the bar area. Kelly had a cold one in my hand within seconds. And that was an omen of things to come... The others arrived and we ordered ribs, tots and burgers. And more beers. Kelly--who strongly resembles Harley Quinn--was super nice and uber attentive. The perfect bartender. As a matter of fact, she snapped some of the photos I posted here. The food was tasty and hot and came out right away. Everything was reasonably priced...especially the local beers that were $2 off! Although I have heard good things about this restaurant, I must say that I was disappointed, when I finally tried it. Food was decent, but not outstanding. Portions were ok, but not large. Atmosphere was fine, but not quite like the photos and our table was sticky and felt unclean. A roll of brown Paper towels (instead of napkins) on the tables reminded me of a restroom and prices appeared rather high for what I received. And lastly, instead of adding a BS 4% "surcharge" why not be honest and list the real prices on the menu. read more

It's 10:10 and I wanted breakfast but the kids wanted to try this place.. was a little disappointed but went with the flow. Not a big eater so got a kids meal. This place is so cute. It's location was really hidden between the freeway brindle and of condos. Goes with the hideout. The bbq here were pretty good. They give u a ginormous portion. We have ate here in store before. The good is great. Communication between the staff/ client/ back of house is not good. Said I can't have dairy/ cheese or butter on anything/ they said- no problem. Lots of send backs - sadly. We did enjoy the Brisket and Pork! Yesterday ordered through GH and ask for no sauce on meat? So they didn't send sauce on side/ as requested! And on my wife's Mac n cheese, because I said I was allergic to dairy- they sent us- cooked macaroni? I have laughed so hard in years. THIRTY EIGHT BUCKS. That's what a burger and two beers set me back at this joint. THIRTY EIGHT BUCKS. For a burger I had to send back coz it was at best medium when I asked for extra well done. I know there's a lot of talk about inflation, but does THIRTY EIGHT bucks for a burger and two beers seem outrageous to anyone else??? The burger was excellent - after I sent it back and they cooked me another one - but it wasn't twenty bucks worth of excellent. To add insult to injury they tack on a "surcharge" to help cover "rising costs"!! I always thought a restaurant's costs were part of their business expenses - not something that was ADDED as an addition to the customers tab. We've been back twice now for a casual dinner and I'm sure we'll be back many more times with friends and family. The food has consistently been great quality and comes out in under 15 mins. We never have to wait too long for a wait staff to come by and check on us. They also have a great selection of beers and drinks - overall the menu can cater to almost everyone. read more

I've been to this restaurant during it's many, many failed business after failed business. I do have to say Del's has been my favorite one so far and I really hope they make it! They are busy all the time and that's a great thing! I've actually had to skip going here because it was too busy a couple nights and there was no where to park. It's a good problem to have! They have great food - I'm a sucker for BBQ so I've probably tried it all! Last night I tried their Mac n Cheese with smoked brisket and it was amazing!!! The service has always been great (for the most part - when you walk in prepare to not be greeted - there is a sign to sit anywhere, but it's not right in front of you when you walk in). The place is clean and they offer FREE soft serve vanilla cones (one per customer)!! I'd definitely recommend this place and will also be going back! read more

I have passed this spot tons of times driving up and down the 8 freeway. The mysterious tall yellow sign indicating Del's Hideout no longer a mystery now. They have an extensive beer tap list, a great menu of bbq and burgers, etc. They even have a whole playground area for the children people bring! Each day has its daily special, monday is happy hour all day! My friend and I ordered the mac n cheese and a plate of sliders. The sliders were so good we ordered a second plate along with a bowl of chili. The chili has chunky pieces of meat and was filling. I will for sure visit this place again! Came here tonight for takeout with my girlfriend. This is one of the Cohn Restaurant Group family not far off the 8 and Waring. I came here following a pretty disappointing experience yesterday with another CRG restaurant so my expectations were not high. I ended up quite impressed. The Food: My girlfriend ordered the impossible burger with onion rings. I had the TJ burger with fries. We also ordered the Ahi Poke appetizer for my mom. My burger was cooked perfectly at a medium. The flavor was excellent, I asked for a side of aioli which was also excellent. This burger was spicy, just how I like it. Unfortunately the fries were cold as it was 15 minutes back to my place. My girlfriend enjoyed her impossible burger. Her onion rings were HUGE! My mom didn't enjoy her Ahi Poke dish. The Ahi Poke rice was not the sushi rice expected, and the flavor was off, but it's a bar, not a sushi restaurant. The Service: I called in ahead to order which was seamless. The order was ready exactly as estimated on the phone. The Establishment: Pretty cool bar. It has some old school arcade games, plenty of TVs and a fair amount of seating. I had a really nice dinner here. Got the Del's Burger, which has pimiento cheese and a fried green tomato on it-- perfectly cooked and I liked the flavors. Everything's open air with large garage-style doors that are open to the outside, so I'm not sure how it'll be in the winter, such as it is in SAn Diego. An unusual location for the uninitiated. Del's Hideout is located on a cul de sac surrounded by Motels, townhomes and apartments. If they did not have sign clearly visible from the 8 Freeway, you'd never know it was there. Once found, parking is easy and the restaurant makes a good impression upon entering. Clean, nice decor, fairly bright (good at lunch time) and immediate attention by a server. The menu is mostly BBQ, but we didn't feel like that. My better half wanted a burger and I decided on a Turkey Club with the thought of taking half home (good thinking). We ordered fries and onion rings as sides. Food came out after 10-15 minutes on 14" x 10" metal trays with wax paper on them. This worked well as both trays could barely hold the food. The burger was great, well cooked, juicy and even a bit greasy. To my surprise the turkey on my sandwich was smoked and quite good. The fries were plentiful and good and the onion rings were even better. They were gigantic and came with a delicious dipping sauce. Really enjoyed the garlic pickle as well. I helped my better half finish the burger and took half the turkey club and rings home with me for my dinner. Service was efficient and friendly, atmosphere was fine and the food tasty, so it's five stars from me and we didn't have any BBQ! Next time! A good place for sure. The food turned out to be FANTASTIC. Had some left for leftovers. The place is busy & really a good experience. It is not formal at all, & plenty of seating. (Parking is a little tight) but we found a place... Kids, & adults all there havin fun. Also ice cream cones free all, while you wait. We really do recommend this restaurant. Don't even think about getting the big handles of beer during happy hour. It's a total rip off and they don't tell you. The menu says $4 for a beer and it was $13.50 on the bill, which they don't even let you see, you have to ask for it. My wife's beer was $17.50!! The bell pepper rings are good.
