Solid meal but I've definitely had better. Nothing really stood out for me. We didn't order any beer (tragic since it's a pub) but I don't think it would've changed my mind about the food. Additionally, it took a really long time for our food to come out while I noticed that other tables, that arrived after us, received their food earlier. Street parking only. They take card but will have extra charge so recommend using debit or bringing cash to avoid the fee. Overall, may be a good place to grab a drink and hang out with others. This corner pub in the Crown Point area of PB has been frequently mentioned as having one of the best burgers in the SD area. It's a first come, first serve operation in which all of the seating at the bar and high-top tables were open. There was no onsite parking lot, and you may have to circle around the nearby side streets multiple times to find a curbside space. A small chalkboard menu hung to the left of the kitchen entrance in the back of the establishment. Hamburgers and cheeseburgers were available in either a 1/3 lb or a 1/2 lb patty along with french fries, that was it. Between 11 am and 2 pm on Monday to Friday, there was a lunch special for $19.50 that included a 1/3 lb cheeseburger, fries, and a soda or pint of beer. It was a good deal if you selected beer as the beverage. I went with a 1/3 lb cheeseburger with french fries. In hindsight, I should have ordered a 1/2 lb cheeseburger without the fries which were hot and crispy but not worth the price for the amount given. The burger was assembled nicely on a sesame seed bun. The meat was juicy, but again a larger patty size would have suited me better as I was quite hungry. It took close to 30 minutes before my food was ready due to the heavy volume of orders. Rocky's Crown Pub serves a solid burger, but I would hesitate to call it the best in town. read more

I first stepped into Rocky's Pub in 2005 when I was on active duty, and I've come to this place at least once a month to enjoy these amazing burgers. A couple of people complimented my outfit including my server, asking about the pieces I was wearing, how I put them together, and what inspired my style. It felt natural and engaging because it was made personal rather than just small talk about sports or what you'll be doing next, which made the visit even more enjoyable. Now, onto the burger itself. A great burger is all about balance and can come down to a science, and Rocky's absolutely nails it. The bun is perfectly toasted, sturdy enough to hold everything together, especially with the lettuce placed on the bottom to prevent it from getting soggy. The cheese is melted just right, surround the juicy and well-seasoned patty, and the toppings are crisp and fresh. Every bite had that perfect mix of flavors and textures that made each bite just as satisfying as the last, no uneven bites with too much sauce or pickle. My only minor gripe were the fries, and that's just me being nit-picky. While they're solid and in no ways a complaint, I personally prefer the shoestring fries that often come with burgers back in NYC for that added sense of nostalgia.
