Delta did a fantastic job at transporting me and my grandson to ATL to catch our connecting flights to our vacation. Check in was smooth, there was no line to check our bags, the boarding process was organized, gate agents were professional and proactive, this was just a great experience. Delta's 717-200's are aging, and it's about time for the last semi - McDonnell Douglas variant to retire. These 717's were going to be MD-95's, before being bought out by Boeing. There are only 2 airlines in the world that operate 717's, these are Delta and Hawaiian. Anyways flight attendants were great, pilots were on the younger side but that's what you expect on these puddle jumper jets. What a great experience from Delta! read more

I show up to the CLT airport 2.5 hours early because I received an email stating that they were having a higher than normal amount of flyers. No problem. Have first class tickets Then I go to the gate and the plane is delayed more than an hour. My next flight got delayed so okay, I can deal. Then it's stated that the plane has not even left Atlanta because they do not have a flight attendant. So then they stuff me onto an almost full plane in coach. I am giving Delta 5 stars today. Arrived 3.5 hours before my flight and knew the policy of not being able to check in my bag until the 3 hour window. I saw a skycap from Delta outside and took a chance by asking if he would overlook the standard policy. He took in my bag, provided a boarding pass, and directed me to the Pre-check area of the terminal. Absolutely unacceptable behavior and service from Delta Airlines. My family had an extremely frustrating and disrespectful experience at the Charlotte, NC airport that needs to be called out. When my father arrived in Charlotte, his baggage did not arrive with him. Upon asking Delta staff for help at the airport, my family approached two women working at the baggage claim desk. From the very beginning, they were unprofessional, dismissive, and outright rude--despite the fact that my family remained respectful throughout the entire conversation. At one point, after one of the women asked my family a question, my younger brother (who is a minor) tried to respond calmly--and was yelled at by the other employee who shouted, "THAT'S WHAT WE'RE TRYING TO DO" while rolling her eyes at him. He wasn't being argumentative at all--just trying to help clarify, yet was met with hostility. Eventually, they told us the missing bag would arrive the next morning and be delivered to our home. My father provided our full address and showed his driver's license, which has the correct address printed clearly. The staff took this information--and still managed to deliver the bag to the wrong address over an hour away from us. We've now spent over two days calling Delta repeatedly to try and resolve this. Today, my father was again met with disrespect by another Delta representative, who yelled at him and blamed him for giving the wrong address--even though he showed his license with the correct one, and has lived at the same address for nearly 30 years. She then dismissed him by telling him to call a different number and refused to help further. My father has now been on hold for hours, and we still have no resolution, no apology, and no idea where the luggage is--luggage that was brand new and worth hundreds of dollars, and was packed for a family wedding we now might not be able to fully participate in. The complete lack of accountability, the disrespect, and the incompetence displayed by multiple Delta employees is beyond disappointing. Unfortunately, based on what I've heard from others who've dealt with Delta, I strongly believe this was not just bad service--it felt racially motivated, as we've heard similar stories from others who've been treated this way by Delta specifically. I would advise anyone considering flying Delta--especially families of color--to seriously reconsider. read more

So - 2nd time in 2 days that we were told by customer service that we would get a return call from a supervisor within 1-2 hours. Guess what? 2nd day with NO CALL BACK FROM A SUPERVISOR!!! Their customer service is more like customer disservice!!! They really suck. Charged me $789.75 because they said in order to change our flight (because their 'partner airline' changed our flights), I needed to change from non- refundable to refundable to change our flight. CLT airport (delta) has awful wait lines, despite we get there 3+ hrs early, the delta front desk people have awful attitudes, no people skills whatsoever. there is no organization or communication between each other, they both were yelling at customers who were not even raising their voices, yelling at each other, and using profanity. Not a good look for someone in customer service. Another note, they were supposed to let me go through security to see my daughter off, like I always do, but they told me no this time around. After someone else that worked at delta that was front desk told me "Yes, and if anyone says otherwise, they are wrong". I've gone back multiple times to see my minor daughter off, but they absolutely refused. Her excuse was "I'm busy". I was more than polite and nice to the front desk lady. Truthfully, with all the time she spent explaining why the hell I couldn't go back with my daughter, she could have took my ID, and printed my guest pass. Front desk staff is racist to boot! I just went on Delta's website to change a flight from Tuesday 10/8 to Tuesday 10/15, same flight. the site quoted me $76 which I paid, the funds were Immediately deducted from my account however the change was not made. I contacted Deltas customer service only to be told that they are sorry but they aren't seeing a change on their end and I would be required to pay the new amount of $105. Had a very good flight from Charlotte to Atlanta. Staff was very friendly and accommodating to all the passengers. They gave a hand sanitizer packet as you came on board. Seating arrangements were so much better than American Airlines where every seat was filled. Middle seats were blocked off due to COVID. They gave a bag with snacks and bottle of water. What a treat. It was a short flight and we got snacks and water. How cool is that. There were lots of leg room where you sat down. Downloaded the Delta App to make it easier to check in. My trip has been one nightmare after another! Asheville, NC to Florence, Italy. At least 2-1/2 to 3 hours hours layover between flights. Surprise! The first flight was scheduled to leave at 12:00 noon - but was pushed to 12:56. Then we needed to make an emergency landing at a different airport to REFUEL THE PLANE. So ... despite being a 73 year old running as quickly as I could, the connecting flight left about 8 passengers behind. We missed the connection flight by 26 minutes. Got all new flights booked. More running to get the middle flight to the final connection. The middle flight was ... you guessed it ... also late! So .... I missed the final connecting flight! That's 2 for 2 Delta. The next flight to Florence is 12 hours away. I am exhausted and angry. My son is supposed to meet me in Florence, the tour group is supposed to pick me up at the airport, and god only knows where my luggage is. I'm stuck at Heathrow with NO WAY to get to Florence until tonight. Unless, I take a train to Gatwick. Delta won't even put me in the cab. The tour group is gonna leave without me and my son is going to be wondering what the heck happened to me. I am exhausted, angry and just want to go home. My most recent trip, I flew Delta from Atlanta to Charlotte, and then Charlotte back to Atlanta. While this is a no frills flight with no beverage or food service, the attendants were friendly enough. Boarding was quick and easy, and getting off the plane was easy enough. I tend to get confused at the Charlotte Douglass airport, and they were able to point me in the right direction to get out of the airport. It is easy to check in at the kiosk and get your boarding pass to get on the plane. I had no luggage to check, so I was able to check in and go directly to the TSA line to get to the gates. The line at the desk to check in and check bags seemed to be long, so I will keep that in mind next time I have to check bags while using Delta. I have no real complaints about Delta at this location. Everything was just great from start to finish. read more

This place first had delayed our flight to Atlanta and we had to miss the plane because we had another plane to out of the country. We rescheduled to the next day and guess what happens! Another two hour delay and waste of our time and money. We had to wake up at 3 am and stayed there till 11 am and had to do it again the next day. I wish I could leave zero stars. I boarded the plane heading to MSP at 7AM in CLT. After all the passengers settled in, the pilot made the customary announcements and added that we'd be in the air in 10 minutes or less. 30 minutes later we were still sitting in the same spot. The pilot comes back over the intercom, informing us that the engine will not start and it is not safe to fly. We continued to sit on the plane while a maintenance crew checked out the issue. More time goes by and the pilot says the issue seems to be bigger than they originally thought, needing to get a piece shipped in for the engine to work correctly and it would take at least an hour, so we all de-planed. The time is about 8:45AM at this point. We're now sitting in the airport and and the Delta employees at the gate stated that we should be able to board by 10:45AM. The maintenance crew replaced the engine part, and the plane STILL wouldn't start. The departure time was pushed back to 2:00PM. Then pushed back again to 3:15PM. Then pushed back AGAIN to 4:30PM. Right now the only options seem to be flight credit (like I'll EVER choose to fly with them again), wait and see if there's an extra plane, or get on a connecting flight to Detroit (which is already full). Although we generally end up on other airlines due to fares, times of travel and because of the HUB assignments we had the privilege of flying Delta recently. We were flying from Charlotte Douglas to Minneapolis and wanted to go direct each way. On the flight going to Minneapolis we were unable to sit together so we sat apart and entertained ourselves. The flight out was good and the pilot found a way to get above the turbulent weather that had kicked up. The flight attendants allowed me to sleep uninterrupted without waking me for the free soda. We also flew Delta back to Charlotte a few days later and that flight was equally uneventful. If you have not flown Delta for a while as was my case, you should do so as the customer service experience was good. Most importantly, I did not feel sick when exiting the plane nor did I get sick in the days thereafter. This says something for cleanliness and for proper ventilation aboard the craft. I am looking forward to my next Delta flight. read more

It's time to update my review of the Delta operation at Charlotte airport. They've improved. I've arrived on more of those late night "last flight of the day" arrivals and the waits are shorter. That's been my big beef. As well, the few times I check luggage it seems to arrive quick enough and with the yellow "Sky Priority" tags as the first onto the belt. This is a good thing. This people canceled my flight on July 31st. Obviously I ended up loosing a hotel night in NY which was 240 dollars. Since my trip I've been trying to get in touch with someone who can help me with some kind of refund or voucher for the money that I've lost and haven't been able to get in touch with anyone!!! Plug for your cell phone is good enough for me. With airline mergers going on at rapid pace - pretty soon we will be left with only one airline. Comfortable seats - only problem is that most seats besides in the middle, require an up-charge. Domestically, I had to pay from $9 to $59 per leg to get slightly better seats. read more

I have long avoided Delta for my dissatisfaction with the declining service. I especially don't buy flights that aren't direct, because I just expect that they'll be delayed and I'll miss my connection as it seems to be the norm. I accepted a sky miles flight from my parents for a flight home for Christmas, which of course has a connection in Atlanta. We were initially grounded for bad weather, which is completely understandable. I am a reasonable person and don't want or expect to fly in bad weather. We were de boarded from the plane after sitting on the Tarmac for two hours. What made this an unacceptable experience is that we were immediately re boarded and we had a confirmed flight time, but missed it because someone from Delta deleted us all from the flight and they had to straighten that out. They aren't offering any compensation because we are once again grounded for bad weather. No regard for the fact that we missed our flight to Atlanta because Delta deleted our flight. I am still sitting on the airplane for four hours now. I'm hungry and it's Christmas Eve. Come on Delta!!!!! AND they won't let anyone get off the plane just long enough to eat. I'm HUNGRY!!! It is now 1:12pm and I've been on the plane since 8am. Now it's 2pm and we are supposed to be in the air according to our last update 2 hours ago. No updates. They are counting us again for the third time since deleting our flight and the passengers on it. Now I'm returning home on this really terrible airline For some reason on the flight here and the return flight, they didn't give me a seat assignment. On the way here, I went to the gate agent and got a seat assignment for both legs of my flight without issue. On this flight, I had a seat from Birmingham to Atlanta, but not from Atlanta to Charlotte. I tried at the beginning of my flight (Birmingham) to get a seat and they told me that I have to wait and get it in Atlanta. Now I'm in Atlanta and I'm told that I have to wait until one hour prior to take off (15 minutes from now) to get a seat assignment. I came to the directly to the gate after landing in Atlanta and I want to get food and an adult beverage, NOT wait at the gate for a seat, not giving me enough time to do so. For some reason, this airline wants to starve people!!! I am really done!! I don't think it's worth it and will avoid Delta flights from now on. I do not fly Delta that often mainly because they don't have a ton of directly flights out of Charlotte but Cincinnati happens to be a place they do fly direct. Checkined in online flight was on time and actually landed a few mins early. They are one of the few airlines that still give you a snack and soft drink even on short flights. read more

I paid for flights on Delta for my Son and a friend. They were to fly from Charlotte, NC to Atlanta, GA to connect with a flight from Atlanta, GA to San Juan, PR. They arrived early to Charlotte for their out-bound flight. It was cancelled. They were told it was because of weather though they said the weather was fine in Charlotte and Atlanta. They decided to drive to Atlanta so they would not miss their flight to San Juan. On their way back to long-term parking, without mentioning the airline involved, they expressed their frustration with flight cancellations to the shuttle driver. The shuttle driver said, "let me guess ... it was Delta." The shuttle driver went on about all the unhappy Delta customers he encountered every day on the job. They drove to Atlanta only to find the flight was cancelled. They were told again it was due to bad weather although the weather in both Atlanta and San Juan was fine. They did get out on the next flight. Upon his return to Charlotte, my Son had a voicemail from Delta waiting for him saying the cancellations in Charlotte were due to Delta's inability to find pilots for the flights. Don't count on Delta to get you where you are going or to give you a consistent story as to why. read more

I planned a 10 day trip to Italy which I saved up three years for. A dream Vacation that was to fly out of BOS airport on Delta Flight 6591* operated by Alitalia to FCO on April 26th, 2018. I arrived at the Boston Airport around 8:20 pm, still two hours before my flight departed. We have never been to the Boston airport and did get lost at first but then arrived at the Delta counters around 8:50 pm, still an hour and 25 minutes before my flight. There was not one person in the entire Delta ticketing/counter building! So I proceeded to get my boarding pass from the kiosk to no avail. The kiosk was displaying that it was to late to check into my flight and I started to panic. I have checked into flights multiple times an hour before boarding and have never had an issue before. We saw a janitor in the distance that spoke broken English and we could only make out that we needed to run to the International Counters. We ran to the International counters and saw no one at the AlItalia Counters either, and at this point we started to panic. It was 9:30 pm at this point and multiple TSA agents stated that we must contact DELTA Customer Service ASAP. So we did. There was a 40 min wait time on the phone and we knew that our dream vacation was about nonexistent. When we finally got a DELTA representative on the phone, our flight was taking off. The first rep stated that it was my fault for not checking into the flight earlier and that there was nothing she could do. She mentioned that for International flights, we needed to be at the Airport 2.5-3 hours before my flight and acted as if i was stupid for not knowing this. Keep in mind I have never flown Internationally before and to be rude in this situation was completely not called for. We were extremely frustrated to say the least. I also purchased the Allianz trip insurance who I talked with on the phone for another hour. Long story short we had to purchase another ticket from another company that flew out hours later. This caused us to get to our destination a day later, an unexpected $750 per person ticket expense, and the loss of 1 night of hotel. I am so very disappointed at the fact that DELTA did not mention any of this "early arrival" for international flight information to me whatsoever. Also extremely frustrating that there was not 1 DELTA representative able to assist me at the Boston airport at 8:45 pm! To top things off, the first DELTA representative we spoke with made us feel miserable and stupid that we were not at the airport 3 hours before our flight. I will be taking this matter further in hopes to communicate this poor service experience with others who are in the same position. I lost an entire day off my trip and $1500, I had to buy a last minute ticket for my friend as well, of my hard earned money that I could have used towards my dream vacation. read more

This isn't necessarily for the Charlotte hub but for Delta as a whole. They have posters everywhere stating building a better airline not a bigger airline. Based on my experiences the last four weeks I am now convinced these are a misprint. As a consistent platinum or diamond traveller (100k+) annually, I fly Delta as they are the best of the worse. However, somebody needs to tell Richard Anderson, the CEO, that he isn't building a better airline. He's building a worse airline. The last four weeks I've experienced mechanical issues on just about every flight, numerous cancelled flights and rude customer service agents, particularly at the Atlanta hub. Don't even get me started on baggage handling. I've now joined the masses in doing carry on because of the inept delta baggage handling.
