We took flight UA 2108 this morning from Charlotte to Newark, and all of the United Airlines staff was very friendly. Unlike so other airlines we was impressed that the staff allowed use to board with the military, because we could show a valid retired military ID card. The boarding process was very easy and not delayed. The flight attendants were very friendly upon boarding, and handed out sanitation wipes to every passenger. They were as very attentive and provided us with a snack/beverage. The flight captain was also very professional and gave the passengers In-flight updates. Most importantly, we arrived safely 30 minutes early in Newark which was very awesome. This professional service is why this airline is our main carrier!!! read more

My wife's first time traveling alone, and United delayed the flight because they scheduled it without a crew. This forced her to miss a connecting flight and spend 8 hours at Dulles. The 'resolution' was to offer her a $15 meal voucher, which is barely enough for a "casual dining entrée outside of airport prison. Arriving 9 hrs late meant she couldn't get a rental car, and after 30 minutes on the phone, constantly being lied to about refund/credit options, she was offered a voucher that will expire and has no cash value. Garbage company and garbage support staff from the check-in to the phone bank. Wish there were negative stars. The wife was in tears, 500 miles from home and stranded at the JAX terminal because of UA's incompetence and laziness. Enraged at the treatment she received, she headed to a sister's funeral. If a gate agent suggests, "You could switch airports," and that airport is a 2-hour drive, enroll them in geography classes. read more

Be extremely careful if you are flying on their Basic Economy. They are about one thing and one thing only ... MONEY! Since I was not paying for a carry on, they would not allow me to check-in online. An agent would need to verify my bag at the counter. So thankfully I work in the direction of the airport and was able to stop at the airport before returning after work for my actual flight. I saw it on YouTube, but didn't believe it. United's standards of personal items and carry on size is extremely warped and restrictive. Their limits are much smaller than other airlines. They wanted to charge me $30 for my under the seat bag. So thankfully I had my book bag and was able to transfer my items there(traveling super light since I was going back home) and take my under the seat bag back to the car. Granted, I am doing this well before my flight. If I had waited until my actual flight time I would have been stuck. The plane was a ERJ 175 and my under the seat bag would have CLEARLY fit under the seat. Only reasons for the 2 stars, I was impressed with the leg room you have though it was a small plane. But if I could deduct 1/2 star I would. I sat in the last row(after someone took my seat) which is very close to the rear attendant station. Not organized at all, our first flights were very delayed. And heading back home me and my boyfriend weren't assigned to sit near each other any more for a total of hour to get from Charlotte back to Hawaii and we could not sit together for our departing flights. The first plane going to Charlotte had tv n wifi, but the last 2 planes had none. Heading home back to Hawaii, there were no more space for our luggage, and I'm still just upset we did not get to sit together while heading home but we did leaving to come to the mainland. read more

All the airlines tend to suck lately. Some suck more, some suck less. There was a time that gave my business to US Airways. They started to really suck, so I switched to Continental. After their merger with United, they too started to really suck. And now I mostly fly with Delta and they haven't yet started sucking for me. But sometimes I'm flying with my old buddies at United because the schedule or the price just happens to work out better than the one at Delta. Charlotte's United people are lonely. After March 31, they're alone here because US Airways left the Star Alliance that they shared with United. And even though the merger with Continental completed eons ago, there are still the "United" gates and the "Continental' gates separate here at Charlotte. Oh, well. What are ya gonna do? Today's bag check experience was a reasonable one. The gate agents do a decent job of trying to keep passengers in line and board in the right order. And when they have info on flight delays, they share it. But I'd still rather be with Delta. read more

Frankly, after our last experience with United (3/26 HNL-CLT) we were not looking forward to spending 12 hours with the "air Nazis". Our day started with a 6am departure from Charlotte (to Houston). That, for the most part, went off without a hitch. Our flight was very good and the staff were generally pleasant. Once in Houston, we had about an hour and a half to make it to our next gate (this was a welcome change from our experience trying to make a connecting flight in Chicago), and the girls loved riding the train for the terminal transfer. At the gate, I asked if we could change our seats from 30a, 30b, 31a, and 31b to the entire row 51 (at the back of the plane). The agent asked me: "Why would you want to give up decent seats for CRAP seats?" "Well," I replied, "With the whole row, we could have a parent on either end, and twins in the middle with room to stretch out, play and hopefully nap. Make more sense?" With a fair amount of resistance and a pretty distinctive stink eye, she reluctantly agreed to the change. After settling ourselves into our row, we had a pretty uneventful flight (which is a good thing). There was plenty of food for purchase and a reasonably pleasant flight crew. United Airlines has the most unfriendly staff if you are flying out of the Charlotte Douglas airport. They act as if they are above customers and can ruin a customers trip in a second. They talk in rude tones to customers and sometimes won't even talk, just point when a customer asks a question. They are also terrible at being able to help a customer when they have a problem. I would stay very far away from united if you are flying out of Charlotte airport. read more

I can Honestly say I don't like United. I picked it because the flight was cheap and I needed a last min ticket, but honestly I wish I would have drove. The staff was very rude, on and off the flight the check in lady argued with a family for about 15 mins about carry on luggage and then threatened them saying their bags won't make it on the come back flight. On board, the staff was just as rude, as soon as they handed out drinks they were grabbing cups out of people's hands before customers were even finish. Here's the worse part, I checked a bag for 25$ at that brand new came off the flight and the bag looked like it was 20 years old, ripped, dented in the side, and pull handle no longer works. I couldn't stay directly after the flight but went back the same day and was told nothing can be done even though I went back the same day. I will be calling corporate head quarters. If I can avoid united Airlines I definitely will be doing that from now on read more

If I don't have to book with United again, I won't. We were flying from Charlotte to Ireland and had connecting flights to catch. They were semi-helpful getting us a new flight so we could make our connection when flights were delayed due to weather. However the seats weren't even next to each other. When traveling 8 hours transatlantic, you kind of want to be with the person you're going with. On the return flight, it was a travel day from hell. They partner with Air lingus and we were able to check in no problem for our first flight. However, united wouldn't let us check in for our next two flights at the same time. They also didn't give us a receipt for our luggage. We had to go to customer service after landing to get our boarding passes and to make sure our luggage had made it, making us almost miss our connection. We also had to go through security 3 times even though all 3 flights were on the same trip. In addition, every flight we were on was overbooked and people around us were frantically trying to get on the flight. They tried to make us check our carry-ons for each flight and we had to fight them saying we didn't have enough time between flights to wait for our bags. Then with what happened to that poor gentlemen getting forced off the plane... stay AWAY from United. I gave two stars because we made it safely home. Thank you to the United pilots. read more

My flight from Orange County, CA was diverted here due to bad thunderstorms around Newark Liberty and the experience has left me wondering, was I just part of some fucked up psychological torture experiment? After landing at around 3:30pm and being told we would back in the air around 6pm, they pushed it back to 7:30, then to 9:40, they announced that we would be boarding and finally being in our. This news was met with a loud applause, but when we finally taxied onto the runway, the captain told us we would not be departing due to excessive time and return the terminals where there was a manager that started yelling at everyone like we were somehow responsible for what we were just out through and told the airline takes no responsibility for all the bs and we were especially on our own. We ended up having to rent a car and drive 10 hours to get home. This airline can suck it. read more

The problem is when we went to the United baggage counter, the guy was rude and disinterested in helping us find out what happened to our bags. So I haven't seen my family in three years due to being in military and covid. I was finally able to buy a tickets after I got out of the military. So my family would be able to see my daughter for the first time. I got the tickets 4 months prior. We showed up to the airport a hour early. We stood in line just for an United employee to have an attitude with us telling us that we had to use a kiosk. So we switch over without a problem. Until it came to our bag. We had 40 minutes till our plane left. I was notified that I had to check my bags 45 minutes ahead of time. So another employee sent us back to the first lady that we had seen. We waited 20 minutes. The lady ended up disappearing for 20 minutes. We kept asking where she had went but was told she would be back any minute. We finally decided we wouldn't take the bag bc we didn't want to miss the flight. By that time we only had 15 minutes. But we still had to wait to get our boarding pass. We were then told by a male employee that it would be best if we cancelled the flight that way we would have some type of refund. read more

The plane stewardess are rude, and the company lost my baggage (which was only one gray bag.) My luggage was with my friends luggage whose didn't get lost. The luggage claim associate was very rude. She basically told me I was screwed. Don't fly United Airline. This is my second time on a plane and it will be my last on United Airlines. Hello. I Purchased tickets to fly to Montana from Charlotte. I leave out on June 25th from Charlotte and I received a call from United 2 days ago to let me know that my flight schedule had changed. I understand that with what's going on. But I now have 2 lay overs in different cities on the way there and now on the way back!! That's not what I purchased. And to make it worse on the way back home I can't even get back same day now and my self and my travel partner both have to work! I purchased these tickets almost a year ago and then you let me know 2 weeks before I leave that I not only have 2 layovers both ways and I can't get home same day. But I have to stay at my last layover for a full day! The representative I spoke with on the phone said I would need to make a reservation for a nearby hotel and rental car or taxi. I have not budgeted or have the budget to pay for those expenses which is why I booked our trip on the dates that I did. When I asked which state I was having to stay over night in..... the rep told me the wrong state. Told me Washington state is where I will be. When in fact it's actually Washington DC!!! He told me he couldn't do anything to help and that I was out of luck. He said for me to go to your website and submit my complaint to your feedback section. I did that and still have not received anything back from your company. This is our first time traveling with United and it's not making me ever want to give this airline a second chance. I really do feel as though my flight home as well as the rental car/taxi and hotel stay for the night should be compensated for us. I'm trying to reach out to your company any way I can. This airline doesnt even deserve 1 star. They are so idiotic and money hungry idiots. How do you not mention to one that economic tickets have changed recently and you cant carry more than one item?! They told me I couldnt have my purse! Really?! I have a meal cooler for portioned meals and they only fit containers not a purse! Tried to up-sale and say well you can pay $400 to check additional bags here to make your flight. OR go through security again and check the bags $25 per bag. My plane ticket cost less than $400!!!! I'm no exception - United CLT bumped me from Business to an ECONOMY middle seat because they switched to a smaller plane and didn't have enough seats. But the main problem I have with United is that the service personnel are understaffed, undertrained, and overworked. As a result, customers get quite frustrated, and these staff get even more frustrated! Lesson learned - fly Delta or American from CLT! read more

We had 4 gate changes, (and they never told us, I had to find out on my phone), two air plane changes and finally we sat at the gate for an hour and a half while they changed out the captain's seat. We ended up being 4.5 hours late getting into LA. They said they would give us a credit for all of our trouble and it ended up being only $50. Seriously? OMG. Fayetteville to Dulles DC8 overwing. The STENCH from the ventilation system caused ALL the passengers to choke and gag. It smelled of OVERWHELMING BO, vomit and bits of dust. Worst of all the Stewardess explained it away as 'propwash. HOGWASH! I have flow for 50 years prop planes, jets etc. I have NEVER smelled such a STENCH in my life! This was NOT propwash. This was Air Filters which hadn't been cleaned...EVER. A Ventilation system that had been cleaned EVER. IT was BEYOND disgusting! Between 'charging' for bags and 'charging' for seats United has ALOT of NERVE to charge over $350.00 for a seat on this plane. Nevermind the midcabin ceiling panels nearly rattled loose. Worst experience ever!! They kept postponing flight, then cancelled all together. Waited so long that I couldn't get to Chicago in time for my conference. They didn't care. Wanted to put me up in a motel and get me to Chicago by 5 pm the next day. We waited in Airport for 3 hours for them to try to reroute us. They had 2 reps making the new reserevations, it took them 2 hours to get last few ppl a room. These people didn't mind, they just wanted to get home. I just wanted to get to my conference. They wouldn't do anything for me. I missed my conference and lost my $600.00. Customer service did not care. Pam & Brian said call CS.. no results here either. I sent the following message to United about a flight experience. First my flight was delayed. Then cancelled. Then I was forced to stay in the airport with no food or hotel or transportation provided. "No blankets were available" so I shivered in the airport all night in clothes meant for 80 degree weather. Then I waited 11 hours to find out there is another delay in my new flight. I was supposed to go to CLT originally but I have to be extremely burdened and go 3 hours away from my house to RDU. This not only cuts out my 12.5 hour work day where I would be making at least $111 which I need to live on, but I cannot work because I will be stuck in IAD and miss work. Not to mention gas and car costs that I am spending to get myself back to CLT. When dealing with the customer service agents they all were very short and not accommodating enough to transfer me to any other airlines despite all that I had endured. I am very very upset and would rather choose to risk my life on southwest than endure another united flight. Their response was basically "Sorry you're SOL!" Never. Ever. Fly United. read more

On July 3rd at approximately 4:00 p.m., we flew into Newark, NJ from an overseas flight. All connecting flights were cancelled due to weather. We waited three hours on a line to be told that the next available flight to our destination would be the following day. We went to bagage claim to report that my luggage arrived with one wheel missing (making it impossible to roll since it only had one wheel remaining). There was a huge whole in the bag and a rip across the front. The inceredibly rude baggage claim representative whose name is Bryan said the damage is normal wear and tear and suggested we leave. When asked for the name of his superior, he said he was "the boss". Not only was this upsetting enough, but when we arrived home the following day (no reimbursement for any expenses!) our baggage did not arrive. One was still in Newark and the other was found in Dulles. Wash DC! One was delivered to our home at 3:00a.m.!?! and the other was left on our porch the next day when no one was home. Terrible customer service. This was my first time flying with United Airlines and it will definitely be my last. Upon checking in, I had asked the receptionist if my carry on would be fine to bring on the plane. They assured me it would be no problem. (A little smaller than medium sized luggage) I get to the gate, and the woman looks at my bag and says 'Oh my God, that's too big for the plane. We'll have to check it'. Okay no problem maybe the flight is already packed. Although we haven't boarded yet, so not sure how she would know that. Anyway, she wants to charge me $50 for checking in my bag at the gate. Absolutely not, I would have paid the $25 required upon checking in. They charge a 'checked bag handling fee'. Her tone was annoyed when I told her I wasn't paying this extra fee, especially since I asked the front if I would have any problems. Her solutions were to either pay that or head back to check in, to check in my bag and she'd put me on a later flight. Well I ended up paying, thinking I would get someone on the phone when I return home. Well to top off that morning, every single person ahead of me, who brought a bag on the plane, had a bag almost double my bag size! Talk about annoyed. Now, I've tried to contact United Airlines for a refund, but of course, there isn't a number to speak directly to someone. Don't waste your time and money with United. They still have a lot of things to work on. And I'm annoyed with myself because I forgot about their recent issues with guests on a plane, but never again will I do this to myself. read more
