My mom ( 91 years young) recently flew MKE-SLC-SJC and returned via the same route. Before her flight I called and spoke with a VERY helpful agent and arranged a wheel chair to get her to/ from gates. The day prior yo her flight I was checking the status and noticed an option for low vision assistance and checked the box. We'll, mom my arrived home yesterday and said Delta was the best flying experience she had in years! She felt taken care off and accommodated for her special needs. Some of the things the did: walking her down the jet way and getting her seated ( she can't see we'll enough to read the seat numbers), put her bag up for her, changed her seat to an aisle and also moved her seat closer to the front, and were just so caring. We'll done Delta,! and thank you for taking care of my mom. read more

In my adult life, this was my first experience with Delta Airlines coming out from the SFO airport flying to LAX (roundtrip flight beginning of December during the weekdays was a little over $100). For basic economy, seats are assigned after checking in, and passengers get a free carry-on and personal item. I was set to depart SFO at 1:35pm and arrive at LAX 3:05pm. When I got to the gate, it was crowded. We were told 20 minutes before the flight was set to depart that the flight was overbooked, and that they were requesting passengers to volunteer themselves off the flight. Yikes. I can't imagine being in a situation where my time was so flexible like that, but to my surprise, a couple went up to the Delta Airline clerks and asked about their options, and what bonuses they would get. It was all airline jargon to me, which I didn't understand, but it sounded like they would be offered miles if they let go of their spots, and nothing else. I prayed I was not selected to be kicked off the plane, since I had booked other accommodations and timed events. Eventually, I made it on, though it was unclear whether they had forcefully removed people or had enough volunteers. As my ticket was in one of the last boarding groups, when I got closer to the plane, we were notified that they ran out of overhead space for carry-on baggage, and that our luggage would be forced checked baggage for free. I asked a barrage of questions to one of the flamboyant attendants because I was puzzled by the entire unfolding situation. Well, I had no choice. They lined up us budget stragglers' luggage, put a tag on them and gave us a matching bag claim number, and we boarded without our stuff. On the plane, someone had identified Delta doing something erroneous to their luggage, and they were thanked for letting them know of the issue and given some miles. The entire debacle caused the plane departure to be delayed by half an hour. Over the intercom, when everyone was seated, they announced, "Sorry for the delay, we had an abnormal amount of bags come in." I got an aisle seat, looked through their in-flight entertainment on the electronic displays, and requested complimentary earbuds to plug in to it. They gave us two snacks and beverages about half an hour into the flight, which was nice. The interior was a bit more dated than I expected, though it had cool ambient blue lighting on the ceiling. The short flight was okay, but the overbooking and baggage issues were concerning. Despite the delay, the plane arrived on time, so I guess the pilot made up for it with speed. I ended up retrieving my checked bag rather quick from the luggage carousel. While the outcome was alright, I definitely expect an actual smooth process devoid of overbooking or baggage fiascos when I fly anywhere. read more

Delta canceled Flight DL 930 due to a mechanical issue. Delta was unable to rebook us on any alternative flights. As a result, my family -- including a minor child -- was forced to remain at the airport overnight. No hotel or transportation assistance was provided. Eventually, we had no option but to return home by Uber at our own expense. Delta has since refused to reimburse our transportation costs, even though the cancellation was due to a mechanical failure, which is fully within Delta's control. Additionally, the airport staff were unprofessional and unable to provide clear assistance. For every basic question they had to make phone calls, acting only as intermediaries without authority to resolve the situation. After many hours, we were simply told that there were "no flights" available. The cancellation process itself took approximately five hours to complete, creating unnecessary stress and hardship, especially while traveling with a minor child. Delta's handling of this situation reflects a serious failure in customer care, communication, and basic passenger protection obligations. I am requesting full reimbursement of our transportation expenses and appropriate compensation for the overnight disruption caused by Delta's mechanical failure. read more

I've flown Delta twice in the last year. The first time was a domestic flight. The second was a domestic flight with a connecting international flight to Ecuador a few days ago. We flew Delta Comfort this last time. I have to say there was plenty of legroom. And a great variety of snacks. On the ATL to SFO connecting flight home the flight attendant sat the wicker basket between the three of us and we quickly picked out as many snacks as we wanted - pistachios, chocolate shortbread cookies, chips, etc. Granted they don't give a whole beverage can but I'm guessing you can ask for one. All in all it was a seamless flight from SFO to ATL to UIO. And reverse coming home. read more

The SFO to ATL (San Francisco International Airport to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport) route is one of the routes I've flown most often since 2001, when one of my sisters moved to and settled in the Bay Area. Before then, our immediate family traveled from the East Coast to visit other relatives in San Francisco. Most of my flights out of and into SFO have been on Delta, but it hasn't always been that way. I started out flying United more. SFO is a hub for United. ATL is a hub for Delta. So, I've had plenty of nonstop flight options between the two airports over the years, more so on Delta. It's great. In general, I've had no significant issues flying Delta out of and into SFO over the past 20+ years. Delta has been pretty solid and reliable. Typically, flights from SFO to ATL have about a 4.5-hour in-air flight time, which I think is great. Flights in the other direction, ATL to SFO, take longer - up to about 5.5 hours. Still, not bad, considering it's nonstop. Jet streams are the reason why eastbound flights go faster than westbound flights. Also in general, I think Delta and United out of and into SFO are about equal in terms of on-time arrivals and departures, customer service, fleets, and in-flight features and amenities. With Delta, I can't ever recall a flight cancellation connected to SFO. I've dealt with delays out of SFO, but they've never been bad. My definition of "bad" when it comes to flight delays is having to wait for hours, missing connections, and/or having to leave the airport and come back the next day. That happened to me and my wife last year with multiple Delta flights originating at RDU (Raleigh-Durham International Airport). I also understand that delays are sometimes out of the airline's control. My friend and I were delayed for 1-2 hours on my last Delta flight out of SFO (bound for ATL). Delta promptly emailed me complimentary hotel, transportation, and meal vouchers. I didn't need hotel and transportation, so I only claimed the meal voucher. In my experience, Delta meal vouchers are good at certain airport food and beverage vendors only. Some vendors don't accept them and the only way to find out is to ask each vendor. Also, disappointingly, the vouchers can't be used for Delta's own in-flight meals. You'd think they'd be good for that. Also in my experience, the vouchers have very short redemption periods, like 24 hours. That's kind of a bummer too. In terms of frequent-flyer programs, I've found that I can get more for my miles through United MileagePlus than Delta SkyMiles. One United mile goes further than one Delta mile, and that's not just for flights, but for other things like rental cars. I'm not sure, but I think United has more retail partners than Delta. Some partners both airlines share, like Starbucks. When it comes to ridesharing services, Delta partners with Lyft and United partners with Uber. Link your Delta SkyMiles account with your Lyft account so you can automatically earn SkyMiles every time you ride Lyft. All in all, I like Delta. It's the airline I've flown the most, because most of my flights have been based out of Atlanta, with United second. After that, no other airlines are close. read more

Had a decent relaxing flight both ways from SEA to SFO and back. Flew biz class which was comfy with wifi and tiny chip snacks. I'm short so I can't really review the leg room but it seemed roomy. At SEATAC I was able to get a Delta agent outside to check my bag and it was easy. At SFO there are kiosks to do your own check baggage label but you still have to stand in line to actually check it so I'm not sure that was a times savings as there was a long line and only 3 agents. Line took less than 10 min and I was off to security. The flight to SEA was delayed 12 min because of air traffic but we somehow still got there on time! read more

Flying from Atlanta, Delta is always a move. So when I flew to SFO recently, it seemed like a regular degular plan. Until we hit baggage claim. Well, when I arrived in San Francisco with my teammates, we were bummed to realize that one of our bags didn't make it in the connection process. After realizing that, I went to roll my suitcase over and realized that 75% of one of the wheels was gone. This being a 53lb bag (lol), it could barely stand up any longer with most of the wheel gone. Such a bummer! This was a barely used Lucky bag that was so cute, I wasn't ecstatic. Luckily, we flew Delta and I knew they would make it right somehow. Having worked in customer service for many years, I'm a 'more flies with honey' kind of person and my mama raised me right. And I'm so glad that I was calm and took a moment to go to the Delta Baggage counter that's located in the airport. There we met with Briana who was hard at work helping another group who must have had their bags misplaced as well. With my coworker, Briana quickly worked to help him figure out what happened with his bag(s). I was so happy to hear that although his bag was misplaced, it would be on the next flight out from ATL to SFO and that it would be delivered to the hotel we were all at. Not only that, Briana asked for details about the bag so that she could personally pick out the bag when it arrives and send it out for delivery to him. Wow. When it came to me, I explained to Briana about my bag and how I could barely roll that big boy out of the airport, let alone drag it around SanFran for a week. She was so kind and understanding. I completed a form and she let me know my options: Have a new bag sent to my home (I think they would replace it with the same version) or I could take a new bag that they had in the back. Obviously I could only choose the latter or all my business could be laid out in the streets of the Bay if I made one wrong move while walking. Briana quickly returned with a plain black, huge bag that was similar in size to mine, although very boring-looking compared to my cute bag, lol. What an angel! She really breezed through our issues with empathy, patience and kindness. Tempers can flare everywhere, but the airport is a different kind of customer service beast with people from all over. So to be in a role where you're probably handling issues vs. taking in all the love (like pilots, no shade! lol) after people are tired and jet lag from flights? With a smile on your face and offering 5-star service? Give Briana a raise. She could have brushed off my teammate and let him be without a bag for hours or days, she could have told me to take my lil broken wheel and get out of her face lol. BUT - she didn't, (thank God!) she had us walking out of the Delta Baggage area laughing and smiling, and down 1 bag +1 wheel, with a new great customer service experience under our belts. read more

I've always avoided American based airlines. I have had many bad experiences on them, and have had much better experiences on many of the airlines based in Asia, with customer service, legroom, cleanliness, and food all being superior. But Delta proved me wrong. With all the restrictions that have been put in place for traveling internationally due to Covid 19, every country having different requirements, getting an American based Airlines that flies directly from the US to the desired destination is important these days. Because layovers in different countries could have more strict requirements than the final destination itself. That being said, I flew from SFO to JFK to Athens and same on the return. All flights left on time. Everything for the most part was good. The legroom was adequate for the most part even though after about 8 hours sitting down, I was getting stir crazy. Food was actually not bad, totally edible unlike some airlines poor excuse for food. Choosing seats prior to the flight online was easy. Emails to remind me of requirements such as PLF forms, Attestation form, Covid test 72 hours in advance, proof of vaccination (cdc cards) for going and returning were provided. All this helps a lot with the ever changing requirements. Delta will now be one of my approved airlines. Actually the only US airlines I would be willing to fly with. read more

The entertainment was perfect had our own personalized TVs and I got to watch King Richard!! There was a great variety too of movies, music and tv shows! Snack time- four different snacks and they were healthy too! And for wine they had South African chenin Blanc. Great comfortable flight to the Windy City. Highly recommend! read more

I flew Delta Airlines two or three times for business and was impressed by the cleanliness of the planes and their great customer service. And, when you hop on and off planes ten or more times a month, those two items make or break your experience and quickly become notable when you fly frequently. And after another airline (cough, Southwest) changed my itinerary twice and put me on early morning flights I did not want to endure and more importantly, had unblocked middle seats thereby crowding people together during COVID-19, I jumped to Delta. My experience on Delta was a WOW! Those planes couldn't have been cleaner than if they were maiden flights; the crew was pleasant and attentive; their in-flight movies and series, great. You could tell they had upgraded to state-of-the-art ventilation systems with the freshness of the cabin air and every surface was Clorox clean. Plus they were kind to my son, giving him an over- abundance of snacks which, being a teenager, of course he devoured in full. On time service, bags that were on the carousel just as we arrived downstairs, schedules that were sane despite being cobbled together to maximize greatly reduced revenue during the pandemic- I give Delta highest marks. They've totally won me over: Delta has my loyalty. read more

It's been a long time since I've flown Delta as my wife is a frequent traveler with another airline. We just returned from a round trip from SFO-JFK-LISBON all on Delta Airlines, and we both wanted to give a shout-out to them. From the gate personnel to the onboard staff, everyone was most courteous, accommodating, and friendly. The planes were full, but clean and the food and drink was better than expected. I realize that there are many others as well as other factors that affect travel, but when my wife keeps saying that now she's "a Delta fan," you know they've done something right. read more

We had two or 3 Delta flights during transport to and from Italy. The plane staff were cold, non friendly and even abrupt. From Rome FCO to Detroit one attendant turned out to be decent. From Detroit to San Francisco was the worst. Only one attendant showed any manners/class. A female attendant was rushing up and down the aisle looking frantic, did not make eye contact or smile once. The others were cold as well. Oppositely on the way to Venice KLM attendants were like angels. Have never seen anything like it. Made me want to use KLM in the future. The meals were great too. I'm not sure what is happening with flight attendants but I hope it can be improved. Maybe they have airlines over a barrell because they are short staffed. read more

The seats on this plane are like none other. THEY ARE TERRIBLE! The back is sunken in while the headrest juts your head forward. It's the most unnatural sitting position I've ever been forced to be in for hours. It was so absurdly uncomfortable that I was convinced I could not be the only person who thought the seats were trash. So as soon as I got Internet access again, I googled "Delta Airlines seats uncomfortable" and boy did I get lots of search results. Turns out people have written about how uncomfortable the seats are. They need to throw them all out and start again. Never in my life will I ever fly Delta Airlines again. We ended up going to terminal 3 with no luck & then, after talking to a couple employees, we were sent to terminal 2. That such a long walk & Natalie was very appologetic & accomidating; she gave us water & some snacks & we waited while she went to get our bag.
