Emirates has the best airplane ever . Welcome to the A380 experience! Hubby and I flew internationally to Dubai & South Africa! Great entertainment ! Movie and TV choices were plentiful! The selection was world class and varied from Hollywood to Bollywood to Nollywood! Lots of room for walking and also restrooms were decent! On our 16 hour flight to Dubai they offered two full meals plus a pizza or sandwich snack. The had unlimited beverages and offered them on demand throughout the flight. On our 8 hour flight to South Africa the entertainment was better and had a greater selection from the continent. Great engines, superior room and excellent flight! Felt like luxury from the moment we boarded till we arrived in Dubai! We spent 2 nights in Dubai! Amazing time and deserves a whole chapter itself! Super impressed with this world class airline! One star less for the fact that we had to pay for the seats after purchasing our tickets !! Otherwise I highly recommend!

Have been traveling between USA and India+Dubai for the past 16 years. We had many bad experiences with them in the past with staff behaving rude to us. Borderline racism in every process from check in through on board staff . Over the years we switched away to Singapore Airlines due to the way better experiences we have had with them I however had to do a quick trip to Dubai on October 9th and had no other option but to take emirates. Staff has improved in their behavior however I found a large screw in the food. I have attached a photo of it with this review. Staff didn't seem bothered with the find and didnt consider it as a big quality problem. I was offered a replacement meal however Overall I would recommend staying away from this airline. Never had a food issue with any airline I have travelled with including lower cost domestic ones like Frontier and Spirit

Welcome aboard the Airbus A380-800, the largest passenger airliner ever put into service, with 623 passengers and 3 connecting bridge gates! We made reservations from San Francisco to Nairobi, with a stopover in Dubai. Want to reserve a specific seat? Starting in late 2016 it will cost $40 per person for the first part of the flight, and $25 for the second portion of the flight, or $260 for both person for the entire 4 legs of the roundtrip! Or you can wait until 48 hours before the flight to pick your seat for free, for that portion of the flight only. Lots of seats available even in window and aisle 4 days before the flight. 48 hours before the flight, we log in, and a message appears to try again later. Hundreds of people logging in at exactly 48 hours before the flight, crashed the system. I call direct, and all aisle and window seats are gone. Wife is mad because her cherished window seat is gone -15 hour flight to Dubai, and there goes her beauty rest, as she leans against the window using it as a pillow. Emirates offers an upgrade for each person in the party for $1000 per person in the party. We consider it, but the offer is snapped up by others in an instant. We check in our oversized luggage to Nairobi. Total length + width + height cannot exceed 62", nor weight exceed 50 lbs. $100 surcharge for each bag exceeding the guidelines. Takes 20 minutes to check in our luggage to Nairobi, but the booking agent forgot to give us a second pair of boarding passes for the Dubai to Nairobi portion. We haul our carry on luggage, and enter through one of three entrances to the A380.Plane has two decks, each deck stretching the entire length of the aircraft.. Beautiful aircraft, with the seats having an inch+ more legroom and more width than the latest version of the Boeing 747, its main competitor. One place where that inch + makes a huge difference! I should know as I sat in a center section seat, hemmed in on both sides for 15 hours! Plane had a read out on the partition wall, with the vacancy/occupied status of each of the pair of restrooms in our area. After breakfast was served, we had two straight hours where there were no vacancies, with primarily women waiting. Flight was 90% Asian Indian. 3 free hot meals served on this aircraft, and they are well prepared, tasty, served with metal utensils. Only got 3.5 hours of intermittent sleep due to 3 crying babies in our section of 76 seats. Wife had it worse, as she was seated next to an arm rest hog in the aisle, who also had acute body odor! And there as a crying baby two seat away! Least you think that was a fluke, on the trip back to SFO had 4 crying babies in my section of 100. Lots of young Indian engineers and their families going to and from India through Emirates Dubai. Made it through the 15 hour flight thanks to some top flight movies such as the 2016 version of the Magnificent 7, and the latest Jack Reacher thriller! In Dubai, we had a 15 hour layover and used a complimentary hotel stay overnight, complete with dinner and breakfast buffet, and free shuttle to and from the hotel to the airport! We were anxious to get the hell ouf of Dodge,as it was 117 degrees in Dubai!

Worst service ever. Confusing line out of order. They did not tell us that you need to have a up to 6 months valid passport to fly when you already got 4 months valid left on your passport why the hell would emirates not tell us that there is an issue when buying the tickets and checking in, they don't say shit until we arrive to checkin . Stay way from this horrendous airline and save yourself the torture .

Some of the tasty items in the first/business class lounge at SFO.

Their business class beats other airlines' first class. Fact. They just opened a fantastic new lounge at SFO too. A nice place to relax.

It looks like the reviews on Yelp is either 1 or 5 stars. This could tell you that they're not the best airline in the business today. I flew with them last week and that would be my LAST trip with them. I give them 2 stars and here are the reasons for that: 1. My outbound seat from SFO to Dubai was changed when I dropped off my bag. I made the reservation with the confirmed seat and even checked in online the day before. But they changed my seat from row 31 to 36 right in front of the restroom. Boy, this is the worst seat on the airplane and I couldn't change because it's a full fight (-1 stars). 2. I had the worst experience on the route between Dubai and India (both directions). They must use the OLDEST airplane as the back of my seat doesn't work. When the seat is leaned back, the bottom portion stuck out and push my waist forward. I called the flight attendants and they cannot fix it. I've to endure the back pain for the 3.5 hrs duration (-2 stars). 3. There is a curse on this trip or something. Emirates actually bumped me off on my flight from Dubai to SFO as they overbooked the tickets. They gave my seat to another Gold star members and told me to take a connection flight thru Seattle or take the next day flight. I refused to take their offer of a Free round trip with Emirates as I had decided NOT to fly with them ever again. To accommodate their mistake, they upgraded me to Business class on the longest leg to Seattle. For this, I give them one star to make it even. In short, I'd suggest you to be careful when you book and check-in with Emirates as they can screw you at their own will. Good luck!!!

The SFO-DBX flight has USB and charging points for each seat. That's pretty neat!
    Harini S.

Emirates is a convenient airline for me. They fly non-stop/1 stop to most Indian metros, they have great in-flight entertainment, responsive stewards/air-hostesses and the food isn't half as bad. The seats in the SFO-Dubai flight are extremely cramped. I'm petite and don't find it to be that much of a problem, but I can imagine how this could be a problem for taller people. Also, all SF-Dubai-Indian metro flights will have a lot of babies on board = crying babies all the time. Make sure to ask for ear-plugs before you take off ;) My biggest gripe is their customer service. If you ever need to postpone/prepone your flight or cancel or even make small changes to your itinerary, you have to jump through hoops that I haven't experienced with any other airline before. Once, I was kept on hold for 45 minutes and they couldn't even help me at the end of the call *phew*

    Ask the Community - Emirates

I have a very long flight (16 hours) booked from San Francisco to Dubai on the Airbus A380-800. I plan to bring a reusable water bottle onboard. Is there a water dispenser or will I need to bother the flight attendants?

I have only been in the economy seats. Bring extra water. Also feel free to get up and go get your own from the attendants. They did not come around enough. But the reusable comes in handy when you get there. Go to your hotels gym and refill bottle…

The plane arrived on time, and since it was an overnight flight, they gave a complimentary blanket and neck pillow, both of which were incredibly comfy. United also provided numerous food and drink services. First they brought out snacks, which were high quality cheese and crackers. After, they brought out meals, where you go to choose from chicken, beef or pasta. I chose chicken, which was a chicken polenta. I don't like polenta to begin with, so I didn't like the meal, but the people next to me had the other options, which looked very good. After a few hours, they gave everyone sandwiches, which were my favorite. Definitely high quality airplane food. To finish off the flight, they did breakfast, which tasted pretty good. Drinks were served with every meal. The best part was the in flight entertainment. The screens in front of me were equipped with dozens of free movies, free services for TV like Apple TV and Hulu, and even an interactive flight tracker. The flight attendants were really nice as well. Would definitely fly United again!

Positives - Expansive offerings of flight times and geographic coverage, and so this provides extensive connectivity. - Big hub presence across the US: Chicago O'Hare (ORD) (also the headquarters), Denver (DEN), Houston (IAH), Los Angeles (LAX), Newark (EWR), San Francisco (SFO), and Washington Dulles (IAD) - Usually lower priced than competing airlines. Negatives - Customer service leaves much to be desired. Maybe I'm comparing UA's service to Asian branded airlines, but yeah, disappointing. - Some planes are showing their age inside and out, but thankfully I mostly fly international which I think get the better planes. - My child was not feeling well once and we push the call button for help and the flight attendant just ignore us and when she finally came over, she dismissed our request for help. - My child threw up all over herself for lack of a barf bag (it was missing in our seat pocket). - Requested warm water and was given iced water when we already told them my child was not feeling well (the illness came on suddenly). All in all, not good memories of UA and generally leaves much to be desired. Thankfully, safety seems ok and pilots are experienced.

On June 1st, I traveled on American Airlines Flight 525 from New York (JFK) to Miami (MIA), departing at approximately 11:15 a.m. After arriving in Miami, I accidentally left my garment bag on the aircraft. This was completely my mistake and not the fault of American Airlines. I filed a lost item report but had not heard anything back, so I returned to the airport early the following morning hoping there might still be a chance to locate it. When I arrived, I met Elizabeth Alonso in Baggage Service at Miami International Airport around 6:00 a.m. and explained my situation. She listened patiently to my story and was honest in telling me that sometimes lost items are found and sometimes they are not. However, instead of simply following the standard process, she decided to go above and beyond. Elizabeth explained that occasionally items are left at the gate rather than making their way through the normal lost-and-found procedure. Although it was not part of her regular responsibilities, she personally went upstairs, through security, and checked the gate area herself. To my surprise and tremendous relief, she found my garment bag. What impressed me most was that Elizabeth didn't have to do any of this. She could have simply referred me back to the lost-and-found process and moved on. Instead, she took ownership of the situation, showed genuine care, and made an extraordinary effort to help a customer. Employees like Elizabeth Alonso are what make a company stand out. Her professionalism, compassion, initiative, and willingness to go the extra mile transformed what could have been a very stressful experience into a positive one. Please extend my sincere thanks to Elizabeth and recognize her for the outstanding service she provided. He made sure we had the best experience from the moment we got on the bus by setting up the Bluetooth before we left and making sure the cooler was stocked with ice. He even picked us up a little earlier than scheduled since our event ended ahead of time. Most importantly, he got us to and from our destination safely while making the ride fun and enjoyable. Thank you, Leland, for being such an amazing driver! We'll definitely be booking with CLS Global Transportation again for future events, and I recommend them to anyone looking for reliable, affordable, and excellent party bus service.

I recently purchased a plane ticket from Turkish Airlines through Booking.com. According to…read moreBooking.com's policy, I was eligible to cancel my ticket within 24 hours of purchase for a full refund. I canceled the ticket within that 24-hour period because I found a cheaper option elsewhere. However, I have not been refunded for the seat selection fee. Booking.com stated that it is not their responsibility and advised me to contact Turkish Airlines. When I contacted Turkish Airlines, I was informed that seat selection fees are non-refundable. I find this unacceptable because I canceled the ticket within the eligible refund period and never used the flight or the selected seats. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, if an airline requires payment at the time of reservation, it must allow consumers to cancel the reservation within 24 hours and receive a full refund. This policy is mandatory in the United States. Furthermore, the Department of Transportation states that consumers are entitled to refunds for fees related to ancillary services when the associated flight is canceled or refunded. Ancillary services include optional services such as advance seat selection, baggage fees, Wi-Fi access, meals, and seat upgrades. The seat selection was purchased as part of a reservation that was canceled within the required 24-hour period.

So be aware guys they claim they are luxury airlines but their acts like budget airlines so better to search for alternate airlines!!

Check-in agents seemed to be contract staff, based upon their generic black uniform. Check-in was courteous and easy. Security was easy. TSA Pre check and priority security seemed to be bundled together where no liquids or laptop needing to be removed. ANA's contract lounge United Polaris and United Club were both horrific and embarrassing. Boarding was on-time and merely a photo was needed to board. As our plane was merely 1/3 full, boarding was quick and we left ahead of schedule. Service started with a pre-departure beverage and we were given a couple amuse bouches for the late night departures. Heavy snacks are available at any time. Flew out on the original Boeing 777-300ER and it was fine. All the seats face forward and wifi is complimentary for Business class passengers. Apparently ANA sends out a voucher via email...I didn't find mine maybe because I booked via United? The seat itself is lieflat and forward facing. The screen is touchscreen and can be also controlled by the remote. There is a reading lamp too. The seat includes a mattress topper along with a super comfortable blanket and pillow. Service throughout the flight was world class. A meal was served 2.5 hours prior to landing. Opted for the Japanese option which included a wide variety of appetizers along with a main course of steamed fish served with a side of steam rice and miso soup.

The curry tonkatsu was flavorful and juicy and just look at everything it's paired with! We even got a personal size strawberry ice cream for dessert... Breakfast was a little lighter but the crab, smoked salmon and egg scramble simply inspired me -- I need to try to reproduce this at home! Japanese anything is just next level.
