One thing to keep in mind is that it is first come, first served, so I highly recommend arriving at least two hours before opening because the line fills up quickly. Once it was our turn, the veterinarian did an amazing job. I took my dog in because he wasn't feeling well. They performed blood work, thoroughly evaluated him, and identified an issue with his kidneys. They prescribed medication and explained everything clearly. I have to be honest, I was a little skeptical at first because they don't have much curb appeal compared to the other vets in the area, but when I got an estimate of almost $2,000 to have my dog's tooth extracted, I decided to give them a chance, and boy am I glad that I did! The front desk staff was friendly and attentive and Dr. Leslie took the time to meet with us and explain how the procedure would go. She also told us that the whole tooth did not need to be extracted because the root was in good shape so just the part that was cracked would be removed. The total cost including anesthesia, removing the broken part of the tooth, medication for pain and antibiotics as well as a nail trim was $280 which included a $30 first time examination fee. This tiny vet facility has been in this area for decades. We took our animals there in 2002-3003, when that strip of Chi Ave was barren. They are still there today and we started taking our rescue dog there. They give you very down to earth advice and can work with you on realistic cost management - if you need that. I think they are the vet equivalent of a local diner with community roots. It would be such a shame to see them get pushed out or pushed to change due to gentrification. read more

Delta is the best Vet hospital I have ever been to in my 72 year old life! My cat survived thanks to the care of the great staff and doctors there, all of them! Truly, my cat, Mori, was at death's door, and ready to be euthanized when at their office she wanted to get out of her carrier, and walk around! After not walking, eating, drinking, having diarrhea and severely stuffed up from an Upper Respiratory Virus that almost killed her. But, they gave her the right medicine, with the right care, that I followed up on at home, and now she is almost back to her old self! Eating, drinking, normal bowel movements, all of it! Avoid this place AT ALL costs!!! Scheme place and very unprofessional I went to this place today around 9:15am and ask them if they do groom services and they said yes. I called back at 12:42 and ask if my dog was ready to pick up and the receptionist told me no, the dog wasn't ready. The receptionist called me back at 12:59 telling me that they were going to cut my dog hair short because they didn't have the proper equipment for it at the moment and if that was ok with me. I told her yes because I thought it was only little bit short hair, never thought they meant BALD but the worse part of it was that my dog is SEDATED right now which they NEVER disclose with me and there were cameras there to prove it. I tried to get an explanation why my dog was like that if I didn't give no permission for her to be sedated and the male doctor LIE saying he told me which he didn't. At first, I was super thrilled by the service of this facility given that they accepted my walk-in to their clinic with a stray cat I had been 'fostering' (still allowed it outside) for the past few months. The cat had sustained an injury to its leg that caused it to limp and being concerned about its safety in the city with an injury I managed to catch/cage it. The stray not being aggressive unprovoked was not thrilled to be taken to the vet but was handled with care in my presence despite its agitated behavior which I am very grateful for. When the vet first broke down the cost of the treatment recommended, it was an unofficial (handwritten) itemized list that came to approximately $300. If I could re-do my experience, I would have asked for a copy of that list seeing as it was not offered to me. The list included treatment of the limping leg as well as some other minor cuts--while under anesthesia-- accompanied by antibiotics and pain meds as well as two tests for incurable disease (e.g., FIV). Vaccines could not be administered due to the cat having a fever. There was mention of a bath that would be included but ended up not being provided... I confess I was emotional during the entire debriefing of treatment as I was conflicted knowing I was only trying to help a stray without intention of keeping it knowing how much it enjoyed the outdoors even in the winter. When I received a phone call while waiting to pick up the cat, I was not using critical thinking when I was asked about adding more services of treatment that would bring my total to $550, which I declined and was told that the total for treatment would be $400. I did not question the additional $100 because it did not even pass my mind the original estimate was $300. To be fair to myself, the woman I spoke to used quite a rude tone with me when I was asking about services for stray cats and if Delta Animal Hospital had any affiliations; she demanded I pay, to which I clarified I had no intention of not paying, just that I wanted a safe alternative to letting the cat I cared about find a safer home than the streets... other than that interaction, the other staff were amiable. However, considering no vaccinations were administered and no additional complications arose during treatment (that I was informed of), I am not entirely sure why I ended up paying an additional hundred dollars. I have managed to keep the cat indoors and will try to continue doing so for its safety but do not feel especially compelled to revisit this clinic for vaccinations--however, seeing some prices posted on the clinic walls, the vaccinations do seem reasonably priced (~$40-$65) as well as visitation ($50). Again, if I could go back, I would request a copy of the list of treatment and the estimates, that is my recommendation to anyone wanting to receive treatment! All that being said, I am really grateful to Delta Animal Hospital for even treating the sweet cat that happened to find me considering he was a stray that could pose health risks...thanks to them he is able to walk normally again and his eyes seem brighter! read more

I am absolutely devastated tonight! I called this place and spoke to a young lady who told me that I could bring my sick and dying cat to the clinic as long as I was there by 2:10pm and I agreed since I live 4 minutes away. I arrived and the door was locked so my aunt called the clinic back to ask then to open the door and a different woman answered the phone, and she knew it was someone that she did not speak to earlier because this woman had a heavy accent. She was extremely rude to my aunt and when I walked in I heard her on the phone with my aunt. So I told her I was the person regatta call. She hung up and as I sat down with my severely ill cat wrapped up this woman came all the way to the door and told me to get up and close the door, I didn't realize I left it cracked open, but this woman literally stood by the door and told me to get up and close the door! She already had hollered at me saying there are people ahead of me which was understood because we called last minute and were grateful for being taken in. I went home since I was humiliated and treated so awful and my cat died at home an hour later! This woman should be ashamed of herself. The doctor wanted to do a blood test but needed to sedate my cat in order to draw her blood and my cat never recovered from the sedation and DIED within 6 hours from being sedated. Mila, our pitbull had bone cancer and we opted for euthanasia, she was 10 years and 5 months old. It was a very sad decision to make, but we were so glad we had the chance to have her checked by a very knowledgeable veterinarian at Delta Animal Hospital, she was very honest with us and didn't intend to profit more when it was clear survival chances were not likely. The staff was very helpful and kind, even though they had to explain to me more than once, I think I wasn't ready for this, initially I had hope that something more was possible to save Mila's life but this wasn't the case. Thanks to the staff for taking us at last. We could stay through all the process, they also offer us to keep the ashes if we wish to. Thanks to the doctor for being so kind to explain to me and answer all my questions throughly and with honesty. The cost was pretty affordable. We plan to take our other dogs to update their vaccines and renew their licenses. Keep in mind you need to get there between 9am and 11am, before noon to register in the waiting list, they close around 4pm and Thursdays and Sundays (if not mistaken).- I would highly recommend and they have staff that speak multiple languages, including Spanish. And you could find free parking on one of the adjacent/side streets. read more

Fantastic experience! They do only take walk ins and is first come first serve, but there was no wait on a Friday morning. The care is so affordable. The tooth extraction procedure for my dog only cost one fifth the price that a different vet had quoted, which is insane. We paid $320 instead of over $1500!! I love my dog and want the best care for him, but also believe in affordable care and not getting hustled into unnecessary charges. I was already troubled by the fact that I had to leave my fur baby here for hours on end while they vaccinated and groomed and trimmed her nails. But it's cheap here and this is where I brought my cat to get neutered and vaccinated 2-3 years ago. I was upset that when I got her back her hair was so unevenly groomed at her head. But it's fur it grows back. Not a big deal. I grabbed her and left immediately because I was already so distraught having left her there for hours. We get home and I feel something weird while I'm just rubbing her ears and neck. Move some of her fur and see that she's nicked. She didn't seem to bothered by it. My last straw was when I noticed she was limping and left red dots where she was walking. Instantly grab her to see that there's blood on her paw and they clipped her nail too far back...seeing her bleed from her nail hurt me more than I'd like to admit because I saw the reviews and went against myself because I'm broke. I would've been less upset had someone informed me and even apologized but nobody said a word to me. Not one. Like you know damn well dogs cry when they get nicked on their body when they are being groomed. And we all know that they cry when you cut their nail too far back...& nobody had the decency to tell me???? Why??? Did nobody think we wouldn't notice? If I could rate this place 0 stars I would. I only came here as I had gotten my cats from the animal rescue associated with one of their employees Magda, and she promised free spaying and shots with the cost of the adoption fees. As this is my first time owning cats I trusted their opinion when Magda, who works at a veterinary office told me my cats should go into heat before we get them spayed. Magda assured me their shots were completed and they had everything they needed done besides being spayed. I then heard cats should be spayed as early as possibly and looked that up, which is true. So I reached out to Magda to get their appointments done ASAP, she delayed this for months and months claiming the vet was on vacation, but I felt as if my hands were tied as I had already paid for the spaying costs. Magda told me I would be able to drop them off at 9 am and pick them up at 3 that same afternoon. When I arrived morning of there was a young Hispanic woman and an older eastern European woman working the front desk fighting and being extremely aggressive with one another and taking their frustration with each other out on the customers in the room. Especially the older woman, she was being extremely, extremely rude to anyone the young woman was helping including myself, ignoring me and then snapping at me when I would speak to her. The young woman told me I would be able to pick them up at 9 am the next day and walked away, I was thrown off and confused and asked the old woman "I can't pick them up today at 3pm?" and she screamed "SHE JUST TOLD YOU 9AM TOMORROW" and walked off. When the young woman came back I told her Magda said I would be able to pick them up same day and she started huffing saying to the old woman "Ohhh my God why would she tell her that". The vets office smelled and seemed extremely dirty and after that interaction I felt extremely uncomfortable leaving my pets there, but again, felt I had no option. The young woman then scruffed one of my cats and I took her back and said "She is very friendly there is absolutely no need for that" and she said "Oh that's just what we have to do" I have since learned that is an absolute last resort for aggressive cats who are risking harm to themselves or others. It made no sense why the cats would have to stay overnight as they closed at 3 and they definitely would not be getting surgery before 9AM so this just seemed like a choice out of laziness on the part of the front desk team without care or thought to the animals who are their patients. The incisions done on the cats were sloppy and caused infection in one. I took them to a new vet due to the mistreatment, laziness and unprofessionalism I saw from everyone at Delta who then informed me that my cats did not receive all of their kitten shots, necessary boosters, or have proper standard testing done on them for common diseases found in cats. These people knew it was my first time owning cats, knew I was relying on them for accurate information on the treatment necessary for them and seemed as if though they did not possess any of that knowledge themselves. Maybe they only know dogs or are better with other animals but I would not recommend any owner who loves their pet to come here. Disgusting place who does not care about their patients enough to properly treat them, to educate themselves on what care is needed, or treat the animals or humans they interact with, with decency or respect. read more

First, horrible receptionist experience. Second, got my cat neutered there was no exam or follow up. I never even spoke to a vet. I got home and realized they did an awful job stitching my cat (usually dissolvable stitches are used). I was not even told what the procedure would be like or the type of stitching they gave her. I have multiple cats and I have never not had direct communication with a vet or a tech before and after a procedure. This was very transactional. I've never had a cat have an incision this large and with traditional stitching. I am now scared it may get infected due to the third reason: strong sewage and urine odors and facility was extremely unsanitary. I am uneasy about bringing my cat back for the stitch removal as it feels impersonal and not informative on after care. I paid for a physical and never even got any feedback on that. They want to get you in/out fast with minimal interaction. I heard my cat crying loudly when being put in her carrier, she is usually very calm and she sounded in pain. There were also multiple people going in and out of the "exam room" and "staff only" room while I was waiting to get my cat. Felt very weird as I've never seen that in any other vet I've visited in the past. I only came here based on my regular vet being booked for spaying surgeries. It feels cold, unwelcoming, and dirty. Very unprofessional atmosphere, if I felt uncomfortable I can only imagine what is happening behind closed doors. Unfortunately a family member had to drop off my cat for surgery but if it would have been me I would not have gone forward with the procedure. The smell in here alone is a red flag. Hindsight is 20/20. Maybe they are better with dogs? Either way, I wouldn't bring any pets here again. Please find a more sanitary place that actually cares about communicating and having a relationship for your fur babies. read more

my experience here was disappointing I have been going to delta with pets going back to 1990s Dr Lesly is kind her father was kind. watched her run around the hospital as a child now she's the vet. nice. but my experience with her front desk female. receptionist. 2 of them are rude and have a attitude I haven't blown up and put these women in there place because I'm not there for that I'm there for my fur child Dr Lesly how do you allow them to speak to your clients the way they do at our time of need. if I ask you a question you should know the answer these women have no customer service skills. I work as a customer service I can teach them if you like how to speak to people and have compassion for those that are there with their sick fur babies after more the 30 years of going there I won't be going back unless professional people are going to be working there. Delta Animal Hospital is going to be my new animal hospital moving forward. As others have said, it isn't fancy. It just isn't. It's bare bones, definitely could use some remodeling and isn't much to look at. However their staff is friendly, their doctors are knowledgeable, their prices simply can't be beat and what they do for the animals is excellent. Plus it's super close to my new home I'm moving to in a week! I had brought my cat to another vet & had full bloodwork done a week prior to him coming to Delta. They were excellent about allowing me to bring in the bloodwork from the other animal hospital for them to look over. We then decided my cat Lumpy needed dental cleaning & a tooth extraction. I dropped him off in their care in the morning, picked him up in the afternoon, and a few days later the anesthesia has worn off and he's doing excellent. He was in pain, having trouble eating & just generally unhappy and he's a whole new cat now thanks to Delta Animal Hospital! I was quoted a price 6x more than what I paid at Delta for the same work. Yes, you read that right and think about that when you're spending hundreds of dollars. That's a whole lot of money savings. If I can get the same excellent treatment for my fur-babies at a fraction of the price, I don't see myself ever going anywhere but Delta Animal Hospital in the future! read more

I found this place when I was looking for a non-emergency vet that could see my dog the same day, and that's almost impossible anywhere in the city or near suburbs. They're operate on a first come first serve basis, and book up for the day by noon. The wait can be an hour or more, but if you care about your pet, it's worth it. The place is definitely no frills, they're not wasting any money on a waiting area or ambiance. The prices are certainly reasonable. I've paid 2-3x as much with prior pets at other vets. The receptionists were nice enough, and very sweet with my dog. Dr. Leslie was very caring and competent, and she followed up the next day with lab reports. No price or services list no care credit offered to me I was told after the visit I needed to pay it all up front $150 to see my dog for 5 minutes and do a blood test, meds were $40 at Walgreens. I have never posted a negative review on this app before but this one is most definitely worth it. This vet office is the dirtiest place I have ever seen. I felt like I might have caught something while being there. The staff was very rude to me in person and even hung up on me over the phone. I am not confrontational so I saved my comments for their receptionist here. I called to see if I needed my pet present to pick up a prescription refill and was told that I did. When I showed up to pick up the prescription I was told that the vet did not need to see my dog and that they would pull up his file. So I wasted a good hour having to go home to pick up my dog and return to the office since I was already nearby when I called. I was told to wait in my car and that I would be told when his medicine was ready. An hour goes pass and I approach the door asking for an ETA, but was told that they simply didn't pull it up because my dog must've come with another owner. They had my dogs file in hand and said they could not find him. I confirmed the other owner was my mother but I asked why I wasn't called just to confirm since I had been waiting an hour and the receptionist was blown off. So my time was wasted again. After an hour and a half, I get my dogs medicine which also apparently increased in price in the past month. First let me start by saying I have been taking my cat to Dr. Lesley for years and her care, knowledge and compassion is so amazing. That being said the receptionist is awful. I believe her name is Dee. My cat had been sick and I knew she needed to see her vet immediately, so I brought her in, and the hours online said 9am as well as the phone recording, so that was the time we got there. As I was attempting to open the door Dee walked up and barked at me "we aren't open." I apologized (although extremely emotional and distraught) and asked what time would be the opening time. She replied with "the vet is in at 9:30" and walked right past me and my sick cat. We waited until 9:30 and promptly went in at 9:30. I added our names to the list and was told you have to wait in the car there are 4 people ahead of you. My boyfriend asked how long she thought the wait might be as we had a pet that we thought may be dying and urgently needed to be seen. She was extremely unempathetic and just said "well there are 4 people ahead of you." We waited in the car for 30 minutes and within that time my cat stopped breathing. My boyfriend went back in and walked right past her to see Dr. Lesley so we could figure out next steps all the while with her attempting to stop him. Dr. Lesley had me bring my cat in right away to confirm what we knew and handle next steps with me. Dee never offered an apology or showed any remorse for her behavior. While I understand process and procedures there is a right way and a wrong way to engage with people, especially people going through an emotional time. The utter lack or compassion and empathy were disgusting and to have someone like that as the first person the patients interact with is wrong. If she treats humans like this I can not imagine how she treats the animals. read more

She is disrespectful and acts like she hates her job. She treated me horribly twice and I witness another costumer very upset. Brought a stray cat in to be fully tested and then neutered. Was planning on making this guy apart of our family until the vet told us he tested positive for feline aids AFTER the surgery, which we had asked them to test for everything before the surgery. When asked why they didn't test for this first, they responded with well this isn't very common... already having a cat I couldn't risk bringing him home and spreading it. They refused any type of refund and told us a coworker could take him to a farm with other cats that have tested positive for this. I am furious about paying to have a cat sent to a farm when all the tests should have been done first. Not to mention, to be brought through the entire process only to find out this information last was heart breaking. I hope this vet reevaluates how they go about their procedures when it comes to strays and unknown complications. The entire process came off very unprofessional and felt like robbery. read more

We received kind and compassionate care twice this week for our eleven year old dog. Our dog had recently been diagnosed with diabetes, and had been doing very well with blood glucose monitoring and insulin injections. This past week, our dog began to show signs of other complications. We took him to Delta, as they could see him same day. (This was a first visit for our dog to Delta.) He was treated very well by Dr. Lesley Luka and her staff. We brought him back two days later and Dr. Luke was just as kind. Sadly, we will not have a positive outcome, but they were lovely. They did not recommend any invasive or expensive tests, as we have experienced with other clinics. They are kind and compassionate. The facility could really use updating. New paint, tile, etc., would really turn this location to perfection. The staff and the doctors could not be lovelier. read more

We had a very hard time with our dog of 13.5 years getting sick. We did not know what to do, she suddenly stopped eating and drinking water and could not walk. The Vet told us it is a 50/50 chance. It was very difficult to hear, but she gave us antibiotics and vitamins for the dog, sadly our dog passed away, but the vet was very nice about telling us what steps to take in either situation. We have another dog who is 13 years old and he had a horrible problem with his teeth and the vet gave him antibiotics as well and took out his teeth and he is doing great. read more
