I had the most unfortunate situation occur that resulted in my having to put down both of my dogs at the same time. Timeliness was essential as a pain medication was wearing off for one of the dogs. This was my first time at the clinic and they cared for me and the dogs like we had been going there for a long time. One of my dogs is difficult in her old age and was a nipper, the other as calm and sweet as can be. Upon entering I immediately thought this is definitely the gateway to doggie heaven as they had a wall with tennis balls, dog treats and squeaky toys for the dogs. We were immediately welcomed in and got settled. Every step of the way the team treated my babies with kindness and compassion. At the end they wanted to make sure I was also ok. I have only put one other pet to sleep and they spoiled my two till the last second with peanut butter, comfortable towels and blankets and enough space for us to say our goodbye's. I called Saturday around 11 and they fit us in at 2:30 and they understood the urgency of the matter. If I were to ever get another four legged friend I would take my dogs there as they seem to go above and beyond. I would recommend them to anyone in need of compassionate end of life care. I had found a stray kitten that seemed to be hurt and i wanted to adopt her but had other pets at home. So i called a bunch of other vet and vet urgent cares to get a same day appointment but they all said they could not do same day- Except Sploot! I was so excited and relieved when they said 1 of their 3 locations had availability the same day. So i brought the stray cat in, they gave her antibiotics for some congestion and also ran blood work to make sure she didn't have any passable diseases. Most lab work takes at least a day to get processed but Sploots took only 15 min which was amazing so I knew i could bring the cat home to meet my pets the same day. I will for sure be going back to Sploot. Their team was also very nice, and the service was great. read more

Like many vet offices these days, this one appears to be owned by private equity investors (read: profit-grubbers)... and it shows, sadly. Everything about my visit (desk staff, vet techs, facility) was a B+ or better... except for the actual vet interaction, which I'd say was a C-. So... why two stars? A C- isn't so bad, right? Because I don't grade vet compassion and clarity of communication on a curve; anything below B+ is a failing grade. I felt zero care or compassion for my feline roommate from the vet, herself. She wasn't able to clearly articulate why she was reaching the conclusions she did, nor why she was recommending all the medications she did -- especially the one that would require a follow-up visit if prescribed. I also felt as though she lost interest once it became clear I wasn't going to subject my pet to painful (for him) and profitable (for them) additional services. I called to give Sploot my feedback, and was told the medical director would call me back. Instead of a call, I received an email that didn't address my specific concerns, but did refer to my pet by the wrong gender throughout. (I'm not offended; I'm dismayed by the lack of attention to detail.) Really bad experience. Not recommended. read more

PLEASE READ! DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE I deeply regret ever taking my cat Lola to this place. From the very beginning, Dr. Stephanie Cruz-Rincon showed a complete lack of experience. She overlooked obvious symptoms and MISDIAGNOSED my cat, giving a completely irrelevant diagnosis that put Lola's life in danger. On Saturday, September 27, I brought my cat in to have her left hind leg checked. Lola had very clear and alarming symptoms: swelling, redness, heat, pain in her left hind paw, and fever. (Now I know these are textbook signs of infection.) Instead of addressing the obvious, Dr. Cruz ignored all of this and gave me a completely wrong diagnosis -- claiming Lola had congenital knee problems (which my primary vet later confirmed she does NOT have). Even if her diagnosis of "patellar luxation" had been correct, it had absolutely NOTHING to do with the swelling, fever, and pain Lola was experiencing in her paw. I should've walked out the moment I realized she didn't even know how to properly hold a cat -- I placed Lola on the exam table so she could check her, but the doctor just stood there without making the slightest attempt to hold her. Lola was in pain, scared, and wanted to go back into her carrier. And instead of securing her, the doctor just stood there doing absolutely nothing, allowing Lola to jump off the high table and injure her paw even more. I was shocked, no competent veterinarian should ever allow that to happen. I had to step in myself and offer my help to wrap Lola in a towel they had on the exam table so that the doctor could even attempt to look at her paw. To make matters worse, they took Lola to the back for X-rays, and when they brought her back, I was told they only managed to do an X-ray on her RIGHT leg (the leg with NO symptoms). Then I was told they couldn't X-ray the left leg (the one that actually NEEDED to be examined) because "she was stressed and didn't like it." Why on earth would they X-ray the wrong leg and then try to charge me for it, when I clearly came in for the symptoms in her LEFT paw? This is absurd and completely unacceptable. Instead of focusing on her painful, inflamed paw, the doctor even started talking to me about Lola's teeth-- as if that was the reason I brought her in. They injected a pain medication and told me to bring her back in 10-14 days... The very next morning, Lola's condition worsened dramatically. She was in severe pain, her paw began discharging, she couldn't walk, and I had to rush her to the ER, where she was immediately diagnosed with an infection. She had to be sedated so they could clean her wound and give proper care. I was left with a huge emergency bill and a cat who suffered unnecessarily. All of this could have been completely avoided if Lola had been given the correct treatment at the right time instead of being MISDIAGNOSED. On Tuesday, I took Lola to her primary vet, who examined her knees and confirmed that she has no issues with her kneecaps. The diagnosis I was given at this place was completely irrelevant and dangerously wrong. How can a licensed veterinarian overlook such obvious, visible signs of infection? After speaking with two other doctors, it is inconceivable that anyone with proper training would dismiss what was happening here. read more

Lastly... ask what sort of Dx Sploot gave their furry child, and or prognosis, and if it's costing them the price of a luxury vehicle... or better yet... ask if their baby is still alive... :( Before you trust your furry baby's life with Sploot... try one of the many wonderful NON-CORPORATE Veterinary Facilities in the area... there are plenty with great reputations that are not beholden to stakeholders, shareholders, investors... and overlords pushing questionable veterinary practices and enforcing what I can only assume are medical sales quotas. One of their doctors wasn't made aware of the results of her PCR test from TWO MONTHS AGO!!! They are chock full of incompetents and liability deniers ... I honestly don't know how this place doesn't have a much higher rating. We had the best experience at Sploot at this location. My Yorkie had a bad bout of sudden diarrhea, which overnight turned into bloody stool (sorry for the graphic description). I called a local vet first thing in the morning and they recommended Sploot and that I make an appointment online. I was able to get in that morning, they saw us right away, gave us a treatment plan and she was looking and feeling better by the time we left (as was I!) We still need to do more diagnosing and treatment, but every person from the receptionist to the vet tech to the veterinarian was friendly, caring and knowledgeable. Please DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET to sploot. My experience was at the rosco location. They over charge for everything with hidden fees. I was never able to get a detailed receipt. Last week I took my dog for a same day visit cost me $400 one visit. My dog had her eyes really red and barely able to open it. They only wanted to do a simple eye exam to see if anything was inside her eyes. My without being a doctor I had the feeling it was something more serious I beg them to do a cornea exam - specifically to check her eye pressure first they say they didn't have the equipment took my dog to a private room come back stating they they the exam. Send my dog with sample eye drops and a couple days later I had to take my dog to another vet and they found glaucoma and lost of vision. If test would have been done correctly at Sploot my dog would not lose her vision. read more

I bring my dog here for basic care needs. Today he had something either lodged in his mouth or a slightly dislocated jaw. We live around the corner and they refused to even take a look at him in the lobby real quick to establish the issue. These corpo chain vets are over priced, the staff is judgey if you don't feed your animal the most expensive food and they take away from small business vets that should otherwise be getting your business. I just got home from the vet visit and immediately needed to review our experience! Our pup has major anxiety around vets, typically requires IV sedation to get anything productive like vaccines done. We were Banfield Optimum Wellness members but they had no appointments available so we have Sploot a try. From the moment you walk in, the lobby is friendly and calm. A scale for the pup's weight is flush with the ground which is MUCH easier to get on than the typical boxy scales at Banfield's. The front desk was so sweet and helpful, took us to our room and showed us where we could find water and treats for Ellie. The vet tech was calming and thorough. The patience needed with my reactive dog is NO JOKE and every person we interacted with was up for it. The vet tech was kind with my scared dog and did a great job of navigating my dog's yelps, ducking, and dodging. Our veterinarian Dr. Kuhn told us she is a "sub" but she was equally wonderful. When it got difficult getting anything done, they offered to take my dog to the back to see if they'd have more luck by themselves. While we could hear my dog's sad/scared yelps, we also could hear the staff giving cheers, love, and reassurance to her. Eventually the yelps went away! We literally cancelled our Banfield Optimal Wellness Plan while waiting for Ellie to come back into the room. Ellie came back with all of her vaccines up to date!!! My dog mom heart is so full, as we usually leave the vet with an overly sedated dog that isn't able to walk independently and requires a few days of rehabbing in order to be up-to-date on shots. The vet was very upfront about pricing and what we could expect to pay, also explained what she'd like to tweak for future anxiety management. I cannot say enough good things, this will 10000% be our vet of choice. read more

To say that I have been thoroughly disappointed by my experience bringing both of my dogs to Sploot is an absolute understatement. Sploot is not the first vet that I've been to, so I know that the way they do things is not at all the norm. I could go on about a number of matters that have left me frustrated- lack of follow ups, overall poor communication and understanding of our needs during my visits, and ridiculous overcharging. But I'll leave it with explaining my most recent experience with my one dog at the Roscoe location. I just adopted her a little over a month ago, and I brought her in for a wellness exam after a couple of weeks of owning her, my goal being an overall check to see if there are additional vax's I want to give her, to make sure she's at an okay weight and confirm how much food she should be eating (she was severely emaciated up until 3 months ago), etc. She also had discharge coming from her vulva, so that needed to be checked out as well. Naturally, I was charged the $100 examination fee for the discharge issue instead of the cheaper wellness or "nurse" exam fee. Can't say I was surprised. She was put on an antibiotic for 10 days with the assumption that it could be a UTI- glad we had somewhere to start. But I walked out without any guidance on her body weight or food servings. Also, I was told I would have to come in for additional vaccines at a later date because the vet "didn't want her body fighting off both a UTI and new vaccines." I know that's absolute BS, you all just wanted to charge yet another fee for me to come in. Ten days went by and the discharge hadn't gone away, so I called to ask what we could do. The person at the front desk walked away to speak with a vet, and came back a few minutes later to tell me that we should try probiotics, offering no explanation as to why. I took their word for it and hung up. After thinking about it for a day, I called back and asked to speak directly with a vet to ask why probiotics were the answer. I was told that the vet who had seen my dog was not going to be back in the office for a few days. I asked if I could speak to a different vet, but was told no for "continuity purposes." I explained that I was leaving for vacation later that week and really wanted a solution and to understand it prior to me heading out of town. I was told that the vet who saw Chloe would be back before I left for vacation, and that he would give me a call. The week went by and I received no call. I left for vacation. Days later, I received a TEXT from the original vet with an explanation of why he wanted to do probiotics. He also offered other solutions- getting a culture of the discharge, performing a cystoscopy, or an ultrasound. He also said that since Chloe's behavior has been normal, it could literally just be nothing, and there could just be increased discharge due to recent higher humidity. Clear as mud, right? Safe to say I was left with about 100 additional questions, but had zero opportunity to talk it through with someone since this was delivered to me via text. All I had asked was to take 5 minutes of someone's day to come up with an informed solution for my unwell dog. I would have scheduled an appointment to bring her back in just so I could talk to someone, but you guys would inevitably charge me an arm and a leg for that. Like I said, this was one of multiple negative experiences, but honestly my fingers are too tired to type more. Needless to say, I got a new vet, and just within one visit, my dog got her vaccinations, we have a path forward for her discharge issue, and I've experienced more clarity and proper communication by the vet, the techs, and the administrative team than I ever did with Sploot. One more thing I would like to mention- every single time I brought either of my dogs in to Sploot, giving them drugs to calm them down for their exams was pushed on me. Not suggested- pushed. I have never once been told by another vet to drug my dogs. It's perfectly normal for them to show some anxiety. That's just completely unnecessary and absolutely insane to me. I used to go to the Logan Square location but moved so now we go to the Roscoe Village location since I now live about 45 minutes away and it's slightly closer. We had an 11am appointment for a pre-op visit since my cat's tooth needs to be extracted and she was recently diagnosed with asthma so this served as a follow up appointment as well. As I got closer I noticed the time drastically change and said I was gonna be running about 10 minutes late because there was an accident on the high way (I was actually originally supposed to be early to my appointment according to my ETA). I gave a phone call to give them a heads up and they told me if I was any longer past 11:10, they'd have to reschedule. Kinda weird, considering I'd been told before that they have a 15 minute grace period but whatever I was projected to be there at 11:10 anyway. As I'm literally pulling into the parking lot, the second it hits 11:10, I get a text saying they need to reschedule. I literally walked into the building in that 10th minute (was still 11:10 when I walked in) and was told they need to reschedule my appointment. They said they had other afternoon appointments available, however I'm not driving an hour home just to drive an hour back out and I'm not subjecting my cat to a whole day in the car. An appointment that I ended up driving an hour for just to be 20 seconds over 11:10am, and they couldn't see me anymore regardless of their previously told 15 minute late window. Don't waste your time here. They clearly don't care about the wellbeing of your pet. read more

If you are taking in your pet to Sploot - Roscoe Village for anything other than a routine wellness check, DON'T. Sploot bills itself as an urgent care clinic, but it is far from it. I took my dog in with serious symptoms, on an urgent basis, on a Monday. Because they had no regular appointments, I arranged to drop off my dog, on an urgent basis, for an extra fee above the standard consultation fee. He was at the vet for most of the day and I was regularly kept updated throughout the day. I appreciated the updates, as I was very concerned with my dog's wellbeing. I spoke with the vet and she made several recommendations. She was professional on the phone and answered all of my question. I took immediate action on her recommendations the next day. However, this is where things changed drastically. On Wednesday, I sent Sploot all of the tests results from his Tuesday specialist visit and waited to hear back. The documentation mentioned that he needed prescription medication. Do you think they quickly filled the medication, which was necessary to prevent further heart degeneration? No, I was told on Wednesday night that I would be charged for the medication and that I could then pick it up from their sister location in Logan Square on Thursday after 12 pm! On Thursday, after two calls, I found out that the vet had been out since Tuesday and wouldn't be back until Saturday. Further, there was no other doctor who could answer my questions, unless I paid an additional consultation fee of course. Additionally, while not rude or disrespectful, the majority of the staff seems unable to adequately communicate and lead with honesty. My dog has continued to be sick and I have had to follow up with Sploot constantly because they do not communicate next steps with me. In short, Sploot - Roscoe Village is responsible for not adequately providing competent medical care for my dog and I will never be returning. read more
