The calamari appetizer was a great start for the table! Excellent fried haddock! Shrimp scampi over linguini was good but the shrimp didn't taste as fresh as I am used to. We were in the area to visit Hamilton college for our daughter. A quick search on Yelp revealed this gem of a restaurant. They brought out a garlic bread that we simply could not resist, despite our low-carb ambitions. It was buttery, but not overly, moist, warm, the best we ever had. We started with the salmon wasabi tapas dish, accompanied by the fried deviled eggs appetizer, both dishes were amazing, flavorful and balanced. Our entrees consisted of a Top Sirloin & the Short rib gnocchi. The sirloin was cooked to perfection, but slightly bland. It was paired with green beans, carrots and mashed potatoes. The gnocchi was great, delicious short ribs, mushrooms, and broth. The sun-dried tomatoes were a very nice touch. The service throughout was fantastic. I thoroughly enjoyed 2 appletinis, while my wife slowly sipped her chocolate raspberry martini. We are from Massachusetts, I guess we'll have to come back. read more

Dinner at the Delta Lake Inn tonight. The place is out in the middle if nowhere at the end of a road. I'm betting the view here would be good in the daylight, but in the cold, dank, and wet of a February night, we weren't seeing it. So several folks in our group ordered many different things, but I'm only going to review my food. I ordered the 10 oz. sirloin landslide steak. I ordered it rare, and it was cooked accordingly.. well done. I also ordered it with a smothering of sauteed onions, and they didn't dissapoint either. The garlic mashed potatoes were also excellent. Overall, my meal was very good. The garlic table bread was also pretty good. Everyone else in the group said their foods were very good as well. I have been to the Sunday breakfast buffet on a few occasions. The dining room is a little small and tight, but certainly bearable. I did like how the waitress kept bringing me more mimosas. I think they were all you can drink. The buffet options were decent. Not the best eat-in breakfast I have had, but all and all its pretty decent. My husband and I were in Rome, NY for the weekend. We were not sure where to go for Sunday brunch. We went to the Delta Inn based off fellow Yelper's great reviews. Wow, what a treat! The location is really beautiful. It is near Lake Delta and a large damn. Plus, the fall colors were really spectacular to look at while we had brunch. I imagine this would be a great venue for a wedding. The service was fantastic, everyone was so friendly. My husband and I are not usually big fans of buffets, but this brunch buffet was exceptional! They had so many options... smoked salmon, eggs benedict, a carving station, antipasto, etc. and it was all really delicious. The mimosa's were fantastic and plentiful. We ate so much that we could barely move for the rest of the day. If you are in the Rome/ Utica area this brunch is not to be missed. Make it a priority for your trip and you will be glad you did! read more

A well-decorated, inviting place on Fish Hatchery Road, with very tasty food, good portions, and friendly service. I tried the grilled steak, Italian greens, & mozzarella open-faced sandwich on garlic toast of some sort and it was DELICIOUS! We went to Delta Lake Inn for our anniversary and had a great time. We'd heard about their Sunday brunch from our plumber and have been meaning to try it for some time. We were a party of 4 and ended up seated at a 8-top in a separate room off to one side so we really felt like we had the place to ourselves. The downside was the room was in fact off to one side so it did not have great air circulation - it wasn't hot but it wasn't as cool as the rest of the restaurant either. Things got off to a bit of a rocky start when our server did not understand our wine order and the hostess came to check to see which bottle we had ordered. The server arrived with the wine and bottle opener only to dash off to have someone start the corkscrew into the cork for her. She managed to get it open but it was touch and go for a minute. Our friend remarked that perhaps she did not open many wine bottles and she admitted most folks order by the glass. The food was really tasty - I had the lobster risotto which was rich and flavorful. Everyone loved their entrees. We splurge on dessert and shared several - the pumpkin cheesecake, peanut butter pie and an apple dish that I don't recall what they called it. All were tasty but the peanut butter chocolate pie was very, very heavy. It was good but the piece was too big even for sharing, a much smaller slice would have been plenty. This place is really trying to bring some class to Rome, NY. And in my opinion, it is on the road to success. The views are spectacular, overlooking the Lake Delta Dam, right next to a golf course (Keuka?). There is ample seating inside, including a full length bar in its own area. The service was excellent, although perhaps a bit over-zealous at times. I won't fault the guy though--like I said, they are trying. And he was never pushy and anything so whatever. We started off with an appetizer of calamari, which was very tender and good. The cocktail sauce was excellent, with quite the kick of horseradish. After that came the soup and bread service. I had the seafood bisque, which was very good, but also very rich. Perhaps it would be over-rich to some, but I loved it. And it made for great dipping with the homemade bread (only one type of bread was served, but it was delicious). The bread also came with some sort of herbed butter and olive oil for dipping, but I enjoyed it so much with the soup that I never tried either. Two others at dinner had the house salads instead of soup. They looked like standard salads, but nothing bad. For dinner, I had seared sea scallops with risotto and vegetable medley on the side. The scallops were delicious. Again, there was certainly richness to the sauce they were served in, but I thought it was delicious. Choices, by the way, for entrees, included steaks, seafood, chicken, and pasta. I believe the only vegetarian dish was a pasta serving, although I could be mistaken--perhaps there were no vegetarian dishes offered. I can't positively remember. For desert, two of us shared a slice of key-lime pie. The pie was incredible, and I am thoroughly glad I made room for it. Overall, prices are a little steep, but on par with the Beeches or the Savoy--the other higher class restaurants of Rome. And while you will have to drive out of town for the Inn, it is worth it as it sits right on the lake, with views of the dam and the Palisades cliffs. Certainly, it is worth the drive out to try it out. Help a local business in a small Upstate town succeed and head over if you're in the general area! read more

We had lunch at the Delta Lake Inn and sat on the porch. The view of the lake and dam was great. It was a beautiful day outside. They have an outside deck that looks nice too. The menu for lunch is small but has salads and sandwiches. We had salads and soup that were good. The bar also has a nice selection of wines. The waiter was friendly and attentive. We certainly will be back when we are int he area again. read more

We had dinner here last night , our 40th Anniversary. The staff was attentive and professional and very timely. The food was over the top and we couldn't ask for more. My husband and I wanted to stay local, so we booked our wedding at the Delta Lake Inn. At first everything seemed excellent, and the main event coordinator wasn't going to be in town, so the other worker, Sara, would be coordinating for the day of my wedding. The food was excellent and the weather was beautifu! However, Sara was absolutely awful to us and our guests. For the amount it costs for 4 hours, everything should be perfect - this was not the case. She was throwing fits throughout the event, and pulling me aside, and straight up being so rude to people. Some guests heard her talking poorly about me and informed me of this. I reached out to the main event coordinator after the wedding, asking to speak with the owner, she apologized and I haven't heard anything since. They probably are a great place for smaller events (baby showers, engagement parties, birthday parties, etc.) but for a large event (I had 80 people), I absolutely do not recommend! Not to mention, we were running behind and were still cut short, so I had a 3.5 hour wedding that costed thousands of dollars. I strongly advise against having a wedding here. read more

Very grateful the owners breathed new life into a historical century-old establishment on Delta Lake. DLI is my favorite place to go, ever since they opened nearly four years ago. My boyfriend and I have been here once for brunch last summer, and again last night for dinner. FINALLY. I love it here in the summer because it has a deck in the back of the building overlooking Lake Delta and the dam. You can sit in the sun while sipping on mimosas or you can put your umbrella up. There's also plenty of seating inside and a full top shelf bar if you like the AC. They also have an upstairs banquet area. Many people have wedding receptions here, baby showers, bridal parties, etc. They always have brunch on Sunday's. They're also having a Fathers Day brunch this weekend if you see this in time. The brunch is biggest style and PLENTY to choose from. You won't leave hungry. Dinner was everything I hoped it to be. I had the Greek chicken pasta and my boyfriend had the whiskey veal. Both were amazing and served with a side of watermelon to cleanse the palette afterward. The loaf of bread was baked with cheeses, herbs, and butter; served nice and warm. The salads were piled high and FRESH. Oh, and the greens as an appetizer are a MUST. They are SO good no wonder why they're award winning. For desert I had a key lime pie tart type of desert with home made whipped cream. AH-mazing. Mark was our waiter, I highly recommend him (ask him to sing for you. Seriously. He sang for the Pope.) So glad we saw this on Yelp! Seven of us, grandparents, parents & children. Everyone found something they wanted & it was delicious. I had the bourbon glazed beef tapas - awesome! We stopped here on our way home from a funeral. I ordered a margarita and a broiled haddock dish. We also had shrimp and the chilli, as it was the soup of the day. The margarita was a tall glass of ice, with about 5 ounces of liquid. 3 sips and it was gone. I then ordered a "proper" margarita, and was given some odd coconut drink. I then explained what a margarita was, and finally got one. The shrimp was not thoroughly cooked, and the scampi was more like broth. I complained to the waitress, and the manager immediately came to our table. He was prompt, understanding, and did everything to make it right. I've never seen better service. It made up for the food and drink issues. This is obviously a very upscale establishment, and I felt a bit outclassed in parking my Toyota next to all of the Mercedes, Cadillacs, and BMWs. read more

I would NOT recommend this place! We went there in a pinch to get a meal after a party. I told the waiter we were gluten free and he still brought bread to the table and LEFT it there the whole meal. Croutons came in our house salad made of mostly ice burg lettuce. I ordered crab cakes they came w rice and vegetables. It was ALL served on a bed of wilted hot lettuce. I'm sure the rice was close to being rancid it tasted awful. Crab cakes were wet and mushy. Didn't have the guts to taste the vegetables. I have visited this restaurant twice and both times have left satisfied. If you can eat out on the deck the view is lovely, but the interior is just as nice. UPDATE- I had my wedding reception here in September 2016 and it was wonderful! They were so accommodating with what we wanted to do, the room looked beautiful the evening of the wedding and we had nonstop complements from our guests about the food. What an amazing deal: a high-quality buffet lunch for under $10! The restaurant is in a beautiful setting, with many seats looking out over Delta Lake and its dam. The building has a lot of character and is very cozy. The service was excellent. There were plenty of great items on the buffet, including four or five main entree dishes. OK - our first visit for dinner in April was a great experience - Mark, our server, was wonderful. The meal was great, and also the view. The second time we went for their Thursday brunch. So-so. I think a lot of what was there on the buffet was left over from the Weds. dinner.Not terrible, but not 5 star either. Went back for dinner 4-5 weeks later and had a terrible experience. Dry steak, dismal veggies, no Mark (he was off that day), and the service was abysmal. So I guess we're 1 for 3. Will we try again? We just may go back to Joel's Frontyard in Verona.
