My blueberry pancakes were good! 3 to an order, average sized. Maple syrup is served in the plastic containers which was a little bit of a turnoff honestly, but it did the job. BFF had the Newark single pancake with scrambled eggs and bacon, which she asked to have substituted for fruit, but they were unable to accommodate. I had coffee and a glass of water. The meal came with a small--very small--OJ. The coffee was very fresh and hot. Being a sugar addict, I always appreciate dispensers over packets that get strewn over the table and makes for a very sticky dining experience. Presentation of the plates was very appetizing. Pancakes were golden brown. Light and round. Bacon was cooked soft just the way I like it. And the eggs were scrambled hard. I thought I was going to need a doggie bag but I was just too hungry. I cleaned all of my plates. This place rivals Tops and I say this very prudently. Tops menu is humongous but this streamlined menu was quite sufficient for breakfast. This will be my new go to breakfast spot when I am looking for a good meal in Newark. I love it's proximity to Newark Penn Station and Newark Broad Street Station. Clean, courteous, great food, kind and attentive server! Just went with the family to the Newark Performing Arts Center for a graduation and were looking for a great breakfast spot to kill an hour or so. We found this diner and were so happy to find such a clean, solid place. Our server, Melissa, was extremely kind and attentive and made sure to check on us frequently. We all got breakfast specials which included many different options, and all came with juice and coffee. All in all it was an A+ and we enjoyed our time very much. We have been here several times for breakfast and lunch. It's an excellent local diner that's warm and cozy. The waitstaff are friendly and service is very fast. As for food, I usually order a vegetarian omelet with their delicious, seasoned grits. I'm always surprised when I manage to eat a whole bowl of grits here but it's delicious! For people who don't eat pork, their beef sausages are split and cooked on the griddle. Very tasty. Their pancakes and Belgian waffles are consistently good. Their coffee is always good too, the sign of an excellent diner. The only bad thing? They are not open on Sundays. :-( read more

Waitress was very kind and was quick to bring refills and ask how we were doing throughout. I ordered a pesto grilled chicken panini which was on their lunch specials menu. For 10$ I got the panini, fries, and a cup of soup. The soup was tasty. The fries were the typical crispy diner style fries, very good. The panini was surprisingly good. The service here was absolutely delightful. My friend and I came to Newark for a concert at the Prudential Center, and popped in for breakfast before we got in line. Our server Medina immediately treated us like friends. The food is great, but we came back again the next day mostly just to see Medina. I decided to order from deluxe diner because they had a large variety of options including some things that it's normally hard to find available for delivery. I ordered ribeye steak which was cooked good and they did give the steak sauce I requested. I got mashed potatoes with gravy which to my surprise were homemade and tasted really good. The corn was also fresh and tasty. I also got a side of Mac and cheese because several reviews I saw raved about it. They were not wrong because it's delicious. The rice pudding that I got for desert was very tasty although a bit runnier than I usually like it to be but the flavor was so good that I would order it again. I ordered a muffin to have later or tomorrow morning so I haven't tasted it yet but it looks and smells wonderful. We will be in town for a couple more days so I might order again because this was a great experience. My food was delivered early, the food was excellent, and the prices are fair. read more
