First thing that came to mind was to check them into a pet hotel, but it just felt wrong... Cats don't like changes, they like their familiar hiding spots and their routines, and they really don't need a whole lot of attention. I felt like a pet hotel would be a little stressful for our cats... I got them an automatic food dispenser before the trip, so all I really needed was someone reliable to check on them once a day, empty their litter box and refresh their water. I considered asking our neighbors or a friend to help out with that, but I also didn't want to give them a chore during Thanksgiving week... I found Pet Sitter Carmel Valley here on Yelp and thought they would be perfect for my needs. And indeed they were perfect! Edie and Jen are super friendly and very professional. They stopped by before our trip to meet me and see the cats, they asked all the questions, took the house key and we were all set and ready to go! Jen would text me everyday after her visits to let me know how the cats were doing and she always sent me a few pictures - what was really nice to see when we were missing our fur balls! She even managed to bond with one of our cats I thought would never come out of under the couch when we were away!!! :) I'm so glad I found these ladies! We will definitely reach out to them again next time we travel and recommend them to neighbors with pets. They are genuine pet lovers!

Ellen called me the next day and schedule for a meeting. She got to meet my dogs, and they were really fond of her. It made me feel really comfortable about leaving them with her since one of my dogs isn't very people-friendly and very nervous around new people. When we got back from Big Bear, I noticed an update Ellen left behind for us for each hour and each time she came to visit. She gave them full attention and they seemed very calm, relaxed and happy when we got back. Which is a great sign! I will definitely use Pamper your Pet again, they're really great!

The staff is WONDERFUL!! They remember my dogs name, even when she hasn't been in awhile! When I drop my dog off I can look in the viewing window and see how sweet the staff are to my dog and all the doggies. Last time I watched, I saw the staff pick her up, which she loves, give her a little snuggle and then put her in her favorite spot - on the top of the stair structure where she can oversee everything. They love to give scratches, pets and attention to all the dogs, it just shows you how kind, thoughtful and attentive they are. I love that they have the mutt-cams so we can watch all the fun. :) My dog sometimes doesn't want to leave she loves it there so much! We chose this place because we love how they are cage free when boarded overnight and they give you the cutest report card when you pick them up.

They sent home a first day report card which told us about how she did, what dogs she played with. They have cameras in the play yards so you can spy on your dog which of course we did. It was the first time we spent significant time away from her. She had a great time after being a bit shy at first. We decided to send her a second day in a row. Took her early (7:30) so she would be one of the first ones there. She had a great time. She easily interacted with the pack. There are many handlers on duty so that any problems are addressed immediately. Addy had to be "redirected" a few times for over enthusiasm We look forward to taking her back once or twice a week. The pack experience is ideal for a one dog family looking for supervised socialization. And she comes home exhausted

That, in turn, made me more comfortable about leaving my baby with people I don't know. By the second day, Georgie was excited to step inside and didn't notice when I left. Danielle was a great pet sitter. I feel bad taking so long to review since I had hoped to a long…read moretime ago, actually (or, more accurately, I thought that I had put up a review some time ago). Danielle took care of our cat several times between 2015-2016 when we first moved into LA. We would happy have kept having her take care of our family furball, but unfortunately we moved out of downtown and our cat, who was fairly old, passed away. It can be hard to find a good pet sitter, so we were really glad to have her around. I would say that Danielle's greatest quality as a pet sitter is that she genuinely and truly cares about animals, which means that she spends a lot of time thinking about how to take care of them (e.g., she had some good suggestions about minor tweaks that would make our cat happier in our apartment, since he used to have more space). I would definitely recommend her as a pet sitter: she was very prompt, reliable, and gave us good updates on our cat while we were away. We'll miss having her services, but wish her the best as she keeps up her work downtown.
