We stopped by as part of our Ramona trip to see the animals and pick up some fresh goods. There's plenty of parking, and the barn is covered in egg‑cellent egg pun signs, which definitely adds to the charm. We came on a Saturday around 11 and it was fairly empty. The "petting zoo," however, is a bit misleading. You can only pet the goats -- which are beautiful -- but many of the other animals were either not visible or behind fencing that made it hard to interact or feed them. You pay for admission and then pay again for different animal foods, which felt pricey given the limited access. The person at the front seemed confused and wasn't able to answer basic questions about the egg products, which made the experience feel a little unorganized. No one was unfriendly, but no one was particularly helpful either. I expected a warmer, more guided experience. Also, keep in mind the only bathroom available was a porta‑potty, so plan accordingly. That said, it's still a fun quick stop if you're already in Ramona and want to grab fresh eggs or see a few animals like a bunny, two goats, chickens, a horse, and some sheep. An hour later around 10am was when it started to get busy. It's a smaller patch so a couple hours is doable if you have small kiddos. There's a barn to buy your pumpkins, a corn maze ($5pp), corn blaster ($1 per shot), petting zoo (free), and some small booths of food and small trinkets. Our group had a lot of fun for the 2 hours we were there. There is a huge rock display where the kids climb and great photo ops. This patch was quite a distance from Mira Mesa (40-45 mins) but since we left early in the morning, there was no traffic and ample parking. Parking is free and lots available.

You can feel how much she genuinely cares about every child and parent who comes through. She made everything feel so thoughtful, intentional, and special for the kids. Every little detail felt considered, and it created such a warm, welcoming environment. All of the animals are clearly so loved and well cared for, which made the experience even more meaningful. You can tell this isn't just something she runs, it's something she pours her heart into. The next day, she hosted my group of friends and it was just as incredible. You make an appointment to come and pick your own. They have a few acres and a few different types of hops. If you are a local brewery or a home brewer you should check it out. She has a natural talent with horses and has elevated my riding beyond what I thought possible. I started off taking lessons with a lease horse most of the past year. The experience was so educational and really helped get my confidence back. Recently with Jen's help I purchased a 3 year old thoroughbred and have him currently in training with Jen. The experience has been so rewarding and he is progressing so nicely, I couldn't be happier! My two horses (20 year old and 3 year old thoroughbreds) are so happy at CJ Ranch. They enjoy the activity around the barn and all the familiar faces that stop by and say hi. I travel often for work and its so nice to not have to worry about my horses while I am gone because I know that Jen and the rest of the CJ Ranches team are taking good care of them. We visited midday on a Saturday and there were lots of people there, but it didn't feel crowded. There were many spaces to gather: the patio by the wine bar, a grassy area next to the bar, an air-conditioned room with a couple seating areas, and a massive front lawn with picnic tables and bounce houses. The setting was enhanced by the music from the guitarist. These grounds deserves 5+ stars! The kids in our group (ages 8-13) had fun going on the hayrides, exploring the estate, and playing on the bounce houses. Glad to see that one of the bounce houses was only for kids ages 4 and under. They also offer craft activities on Sundays. We adults enjoyed the music, ambience, and wine tasting, especially since the kids were occupied with activities. The winery served several types of wine and sangria. The adults in our group rated the wines 3 stars- not amazing but not bad either. They served burgers, sliders, hot dogs, bratwurst, and nachos with ground beef, all sourced from cattle raised on their ranch. The kids and adults gave the food 4 stars.
