Spoiled pie from barons market on menifee, bought it on 6/7, had a sold by date of 6/8.
    Wil S.

This is not for this location, but it is the California Mountain Bakery Pie that is freshly delivered (especially to the Barons Market in Menifee), instead of pointing fingers at the delivery driver or barons market, I thought this should be brought up to your attention. I had bought a mango apple pie at Barons on 6/7, the pie had a "sold by date of 6/8." I went home immediately to eat the pie, half way through my family and I found mold. I want to believe that eating it fresh at the actual location or buying it frozen may be the safest bet to consume this pie. From the time it leaves your bakery, I really don't know how it's handled or if the place that is storing it is properly ventilated/cooled to keep it from spoiling. Again, it isn't about this location but about your fresh pies being delivered to nearby stores. And since it's your name on the box, you are def getting the photos and review as well.

Best pie in Julian. Period. Oh, you need to know more? Julian is famous for apple pie, and you can't go wrong with any of the pie shops. But if you're looking for the best one, this is it. They're also less crowded since they don't have "Julian" in their name. Not only is their pie perfect, the people here are so welcoming, and the vibe is so cozy and clean.

I've now tried 3 pie shops in Julian. California mountain bakery is by far the best IMO! We opted for the boysenberry crumble. The apple and boysenberry came through so well without being overly sweet and sugary. The crumble was such a nice texture. Overall 10/10. We also had breakfast sandwiches and iced coffee there. There is a lunch menu if you need a quick place to eat as well.

Amazing Bakery we found our favorite bakery here. We shared 2 slices only because we just have lunch 20 mins ago. So it was Cinnamon Ice Cream on top and hot apple pie. Gee if I wasn't full I could of enjoy a big slice it's that good!! It's very clean inside, and so friendly too. We will be back soon for more delicious pie and sandwiches But what we like to try is their Poblano Chicken Pot Pie!! It was sold out so next time I'm making sure we try that first. Thank you the delicious ice cream and Pies We'll see you again California Mountain Bakery My favorite one here in Santa Ysabel

Visited 4/12/2025 Today I was thinking I'd tell you about a place that most never have heard of. It's not real noticeable from the Hwy if your not looking for it but it's sure worth stopping by for some satisfying munchies. This place has some of the best Pies and Breads in the Julian area. It's like combining Julian Pie Company and Dudley's Bakery all in one only with extras not available at the other two. This place not only has excellent Apple and other hand made Pie and Amazing Fresh Baked Breads, Pastries, Croissants, Biscuits and much more. They also serve Breakfast Sandwiches served on just baked Buttery and Flaky Croissants or Fresh out of the oven Plump Biscuits. Hash Browns are also available . This is what I was in the mood for today. I ordered a Bacon Egg and Cheese Croissant then A Sausage, Egg, and Cheese Croissant and A Plain large Croissant to have with breakfast tomorrow. Also Ham an Eggs is another Choice. Both sandwiches were very tasty and made nice and fresh. There is a nice table area decorated very cool Service was Friendly with a smile. I'm not putting down Dudley's or The Julian Pie Co as they both have very respectable menus. Just saying C M Bakery has it all. For me I like this place better for my taste. On your next trip up to Julian this place is worth a visit. Just Saying

The best apple blueberry pie I have ever had! Let me start by saying, I don't like apple pie because I am not a fan of cinnamon; however, I decided to have a bite of the slice of apple blueberry pie we ordered and it was heavenly, like to the point, I would've (and should've) bought a whole pie. The blueberries were a bit tart and a bit sweet and there was no cinnamon flavor to be found. The crust was crumbly and delicious. The gentleman at the register was friendly and helpful. We also ordered a sandwich that was stacked tall with meat and cheese and all the fixings. The best sandwich we had while visiting. The inside has plenty of seating and there is an outdoor area as well.

Boysenberry apple pie with cinnamon ice cream

Come here if you want the best apple pie in Julian! I sometimes dream about their apple pie with crumbles.. the crumble is crunchy and so different from other places around. I literally go to Julian just for their pie! So far I've tried the peach apple, mango apple, strawberry rhubarb, boysenberry apple and summer berry apple. All are amazing. Perfect balance of sweetness and tartness!

We live in Arizona now and don't get to Julian as often as we used to. We came to Gillian today specifically to go to California mountain bakery. We love this family run business and everything is absolutely delicious! Great people! We vacillate between the cinnamon roll and the sticky bun, but we think the sticky bun edges put the cinnamon roll just a tad for us. We also got the blueberry cream cheese danish. Excellent! We always start with a breakfast croissant sandwich so the sweets have a buffer zone before they hit! Ha! We'll be back in the spring!

Pot Pies cinnamon buns & bear claws

The Hidden Gem! The pies are fresh, not overly sugary & perfect! Flavors vary with seasons! Apple being the main event of the area! But don't forget about the berries! Peaches! The pastries are baked to perfection. Almond Bear Claw that is a must try! Home made puff pasties with homemade creme cheese & berries or cherries! Turnovers done with puff pastry & pie crust type. Homemade Croissant's daily! The best turkey Sandwich you will ever taste!! (Bet me) And Chicken pot pies! U can take home frozen or order heated up! Very tasty & different mouthwatering flavors! Order ahead so u get what u want as they sell out quick! Can't forget the assortment of homemade breads! Pepperoni rolls! Sourdough, Rosemary, jalapeño, potato, & French breads baked fresh daily!! Call ahead & place order! The staff is friendly & helpful & quick to gather ur order!! Worth the drive! This place alone beats Solvang's pastries! Plus more reasonable price!! Did I mention Brownies? Over the top! Highly recommend

Maggie misses the fresh baked fruit bars and were soft and full of sweet fruit flavor.  Cashier told us they are only baked on Saturday now.  We touched the fruit bars and they were all hard from sitting around half the week.  It's sad as we loved stopping here after a trip to Julian for fresh baked treats and Doc Brown's Root Beer.  Looks like we will have to buy all our baked treats at one of the Julian bakeries like Apple Alley that bakes their pies every morning.  https://www.hungryones.com/2021/10/apple-alley-bakery/ Staff was nice and efficient.

They were sitting right next to the Julian pies and it kinda looked like a fight, like a battle of the mountain bakeries kind of fight. Needless to say, I grabbed both because everyone immediately glorifies the Julian pie so by including the Ramona pie, my objective was to introduce some low risk novelty for my Christmas get-together. I didn't have high hopes for Ramona's blueberry because I was suspicious of the huge bready looking crust roll in combination with the sticker on the front boasting "no seed oils". I'm not fluent in baking alchemy. I was raised on Costco pie (bleh). So, I thought this was going to be dry and overly sweet but much to my whole family's surprise, Ramona was the winner! My takeaway: Do not discriminate the chubby crust roll! Take it from me because I'm a savage that eats a pie right out of the fridge. The crust is like a shortbread cookie. It's almost on the Italian pastry spectrum. Very delicious. Very coffee friendly. The blueberry filling was also perfectly balanced. It wasn't too sweet and even with the crumble topping, I felt like I could eat it with yogurt in the morning and trick myself into calling it a wholesome breakfast.
