We had no idea the level of commitment, training, and dedication it takes to lead a dog sledding team, especially in the famed thousand-mile treks of the Iditarod and Yukon Quest races. Jeff King (the "winningest musher in the world"), and his daughter, Tessa, were engaging and captivated our attention the entire time. This is a must-do when visiting Denali (even if you visit the Denali sled dog kennels--it's quite a different experience as Denali's dogs are primarily used for education and transportation during the winter months, while Jeff's dogs are true athletes and bred for speed). Afterwards, buy Jeff's autobiography so you can delve deeper into his fascinating life (near-death experiences in sub-zero temperatures and run-ins with wolves and caribou!).

The bus was very nice and our driver/guide was great - she was very talkative and told us so much about the park, wildlife, and nature. She also did a great job spotting all the wildlife and taking plenty of time to allow us to watch the highlights, including bears, moose, birds, and the beautiful scenery. Unfortunately there's an early turn-around point due to a bridge that is being replaced, but we still felt that we got to see more than enough. Highly recommend.

First, the safety policy and procedures are flawless & while the guides love to have a great time, they take safety seriously as only a Master of their Craft can! Dev & Kyle worked together like a well oiled machine and had infectious attitudes & passion for life! When I write words of praise for Dev & Kyle, you might read it as just trite sayings but you can review my past reviews and you will see some very direct & critical comments so my words of praise were 100% earned by Dev & Kyle. The course was fun & challenging so if you are scared of heights...this is the perfect fit to face your fears and overcome them with professionals! I taught mountaineering my Summer before Senior year of Military High-school & was insanely impressed with their attention to detail, safety protocol, communications and redundancies. I gave the ATV tour some critical remarks and stand by them but equally stand by my words of praise for this crew! We are a family of six and brought our four kids with us: 8-14. The guides were just superb - even the other guide we interacted with was a ball of positive fire! It's a great group of people and while the lines aren't the tallest or the longest or the highest...it was by far the most unique & diverse and definitely the longest experience to date. One recommendation - It would be great if the operator provided bug spray as a relatively low cost comfort but definitely bring your own!

This hike is beautiful, as well as a challenge! It's right by the visitor center, also close to the…read morehorseshoe bend trail, right across from the tracks for the entrance. The hike can be a little muddy, as well as strenuous at points, but if you're an experienced hiker you'll be fine. It's super windy up top so if you're visiting during the colder months make sure you layer up, even though you may break a sweat because it's very cold and windy at the top. It's a beautiful hike with a bunch of wildlife--we saw two moose! You have a great view of the park the entire way up. Definitely consider this hike if you're visiting, the view is so worth it when you get to the end!!

This trail can be found by going to the Denali Visitor Center, it is literally right outside their…read moredoor. This is a great hike and no entrance fees make it absolutely free. It is also one of the only hikes that can be done without taking the shuttles further into the park. It's about a 4.4 mile hike round trip with the option of further extending the hike once you get to the top by hiking along the breath taking ridge. In total, you ascend 1700 feet. The trail starts pretty easy, but quickly jets upward and gets steeper and steeper as you near the summit. The trail is well maintained, but loose rocks cover the upper portion. The hike is difficult, but like with any hiking, a determined little kid or out-of-shape person could still do it. Once at the summit you realize that all the hard work was well worth it. You are afforded expansive views of the entire valley and a good part of Denali.

The trail also goes along the Nenana River which is nice to see. The lake itself is pretty and nice to walk around.
