OMG I love this place! We went for lunch one weekday, and my gyro was amazing. I woofed down the entire thing. It was so good. The rest of my family loved their salads and other meals they had ordered as well. We enjoyed our meal so much, that we went to the second location a few days later for dinner, and had the ribs. The ribs were fantastic. They have a Greek Baklava milkshake! Their regular baklava is a great move...I highly recommend. Slalds are fresh and green...no bag lettuce here. Big chunks of fresh Greek feta. My Dad loved his soup. Service here is a combo of order at the counter, then pick up your food when your number is called. When you are finished, there is a person who buses your dishes and cleans up your table. This way, everything is fresh and clean for the next customer. This place is busy all day long. Haven't been here in a long time. It was right before the lunch rush. The place has been renovated and looks welcoming and amazing. There is staff behind the counter, staff to bring the food to your table and staff that clears away your tray. The food is still amazing and worth the price. Normally I order the gyro but today felt like having a burger. Never had anything else here and it was very good. The fries were crispy. The mushrooms were good but small. Another fantastic lunch with my coworker at Dengeos today. They have not failed me after all these years. I opted for a hamburger this time. It was cooked perfectly. The buns were soft and fresh, the patty was cooked perfectly, and let's not forget the crunchy lettuce that made every bite delightful. I'm not sure why I never ordered it before. I sure will order again soon. My friend had the chicken stir fry. She said it was very good and enjoyed it very much. They have a large private parking lot. We were visiting Chicago and we all wanted something different to eat , so happy we found Dengeos. It was like a Greek diner , but counter service which was really interesting because I'm not familiar with it , made it a bit difficult tho because the menu is EXTENSIVE ! So much to choose from. It was impressive. I was in the mood for Italian Beef so I ordered one with cheese and it was amazing , everyone in our party loved the food. Grew up coming here, always loved it. Not sure what happened over the past few months but food quality and customer service has taken a dump. Dengeos was the go to spot to grab a bite to eat with friends growing up. As I get older, I often visit as a treat. This location in particular, has a huge community base where they support so many local teams. You can often come in and see a team dining. My family and I come for the gyro plates, the portions are great and we can always count on them to nail the flavors. The fries are always crispy. They also offer the true American classics like burgers, hot dogs, ribs and more. Now it's so great to see more locations open up so it's more accessible in different areas in the burbs. read more

Better customer service is needed when you call and explain to management the quality of the food was not good. Long time customer and the manager showed no Empathy. Visited the restaurant Monday early evening and got home the ribs were not the normal. The taste was old. I now longer live in the Evanston/Skokie area so there was no way I could return to the store the next day. But the manager only offered me to bring the food back and it was not that easy when you live in the South Suburbs. His attitude was not even I'm sorry for your experience. So I will not be back even if it was a first time he heard someone complain about his ribs. Guess what it's a first time for everything. I will visit Hubs next time another one of my favs. Even the extra order of fries I purchased to eat during my ride home was cold. Located right on the corner of Main street and McCormick avenue, the scent from all the deliciousness cooking inside spreads throughout the neighborhood. The indoor dining area was packed and lively. The atmosphere was very welcoming and inviting and felt like I was about to eat at one of my family parties. I knocked this review one star because the ordering line and organization in who was next and where to go was a bit chaotic and no real organization to speak of. With that said, I decided to take the first opportunity to order when I could. We mostly ordered chicken dishes,, chicken Philly, chicken gyros (the chicken is shredded like the traditional gyros meat and not chunks like other places), chicken kabob and side orders of fries, and there Italian meatball for my daughter. I was beyond grumperella & despite having a sore throat & cough from hell, I wanted a gyros. Of course I creeped Yelp & saw the gyros dinner was recommended. YAY. Yes to the big plate & give me extra pita. I did not care that I might struggle eating. I was ready to just not have soup again. (I was also ready to scream at the next person who called, reminding me to have more liquids.) My food arrived & it was massive container - packed wonderfully with everything separated. Thank you - I like building the gyros my way or just savagely eating & not bothering to wrap it up as a sandwich. This place just KNOWS. Lots of delicious tzatziki was also included. The veggies were the freshest I've had & the meat was perfection. Not greasy, not over cooked. Also, crinkle fries - crisp & lightly soggy goodness! It happens when you get things delivered. I was beyond happy, eating everything as is, bites of gyros meat, pita, some sauce, bit o' onion, etc. It was heaven for my haggard self. And I had leftovers! For the price paid, I adored this meal. I've been coming here for years and realized I never gave this place its flowers. The food in my opinion has been great and has always been consistent. This is the only place where the salads are always fresh, and their soups are always on point! Their service has always been fast and mostly efficient. It is a very busy restaurant so sometimes it can be jam packed, you gotta give them grace for that! Dengeos has been at this Skokie spot forever and I see that they have other locations now (haven't been to Glenview or Buffalo Grove yet). My favorite items here are the gyros, ribs, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, ribs and Steak sandwich. They're very consistent and I've had many impromptu dinners and lunches here with family members. The parking lot is a nice size and the line moves very quickly. I don't typically order a gyros but when I'm here, that's what I like to order. read more

My boyfriend and I were walking around the Skokie Sculpture garden and smelled something delicious as we passed Dengeos so we decided to ditch our plans to cook and have a quick lunch here. Their gyro sandwiches were stuffed with meat, sauce, tomatoes and onions. It's definitely a filling meal. Last night we ordered it and to our surprise it was marinated shredded chicken pieces, you can taste the bitter lemon.We love lemon and love seasonings but this was not good. It made the pita bread fall apart because it was so heavily marinated and left a bitter aftertaste. We thought that maybe because it was almost 9:00 and we were getting leftovers. I spoke to someone there the next day and they said they changed the recipe and received great feedback. I told him I was sorry but we'll have to go somewhere else now. The portion size of the salad is pretty small compared to Panera bread) -Gyros: the meat portion was pretty small if you compare it to a gyro fast food joint. Taste wise, It was okay. This is a very popular local Greek diner.  They have a big menu and are pretty quick on the food for you.   I apparently must have been here some 11 years ago because there's an existing Yelp review that says so.  They have maintained the place and have a large albeit sometimes crowded dining room.   Anyway I dropped in with the intent of having a quick carryout weekday lunch at 1pm.  I ordered their gyros sandwich for $9.49.   It was so quick in fact that I'm sure it was already prepped and packaged because it was only lukewarm when I ate it shortly after leaving.  The last bites of the generous sandwich were cold so I can't say it's the best gyro sandwich I ever had but it was still pretty good nonetheless. read more

I ordered delivery from Dengeos last night. It was my first time. It was so good. I ordered a gyro plate. When I opened it I was amazed how organized it was. Sliced tomatoes separate, onions separate a huge amount of gyros separated in aluminum foil and of course sauce in a closed cup. Not only was it neat but the onions were the sweetest I've ever tasted. Instead of slop I got build your own. Not only was the food good but presentation was excellent. Great quick service restaurant with a parking lot, helpful workers and tons of tasty Greek platters. The ribs were falling off the bone, the gyro and pita tasted perfect and I enjoyed my greek chicken, lemony potatoes, and fresh. greek salad.
