This was my first experience with Turkish street food and I enjoyed it. Tostini is a play on the word panini but the common word is called Tost. A Tost is a Turkish version of your typical grilled cheese sandwich. It's a toasted sandwich usually cooked over a griddle or panini press with a crunchy outside filled with a cheese filling. When warmed, the sandwich is nice and gooey with an impressive cheese pull. The bread used is a wrap and the sandwich is long (roughly 10 inches). Tostini's tost menu has protein and veggie options giving their sandwiches additional texture, flavor and heftiness. Initially I had my heart set on ordering the Tuna tostini but I learned from the owner that they removed it from their menu years ago. I ended up ordering their chicken tostini as an alternative. The chicken tostini has chicken, cheese, tomato, spinach and honey mustard sauce. I loved it and had it with a side of chips and Turkish apple soda. The Sarikiz brand sodas are unique, refreshing and rather addictive. The apple flavor is prominent and I really enjoyed it. I plan to return for more of their menu, especially their Sujuk (dried Turkish beef sausage) Tost. I hope they stick around as I can see this being a nice spot to have lunch in the summer especially with their connected outdoor patio. They don't have a parking lot but street parking is ample down Morse Avenue. read more

The 4 star review was I didn't see any baklava out, but I did forget to ask, so thats really on me. I hope you try the Chicken and Spinach Chesse, and the Kofta was really good and full of flavor. Thin sandwiches with minimal filling and no side dishes for 15-16 dollars. I am a trained chef; I work in a restaurant, and I know how much ingredients cost and what potato is. There was virtually no potato in our sandwiches while the owner said there "is a lot" and very little meat (think as much sausage as one slice of pepperoni pizza). These sandwiches are like quesadillas with much less filling. It's just outrageous and ridiculous to pay $35 for two and leave starving. Coffee is $5, whereas most roasteries charge $3 or $3.50 for espresso. I told the owner we were leaving hungry and he didn't care, saying it's "not for everyone." This is totally against the spirit of hospitality and the whole experience was offensive to be charged this much for 2 with no drinks or sides and leave hungry. Never go here. read more

Walked in on a Saturday to order takeout. Didn't take too long, maybe 5-10min for two sandwiches - enough to get me salivating about the delicious smells emanating from the open kitchen. Looked like a cute side patio for warmer days. We immediately devoured both sandwiches and couldn't decide which was better - the chicken tostini or the kofte & potato tostini. Great addition for some atypical sandwiches in the neighborhood. Went with the sujuk (dried Turkish sausage) and also got a pagoca (savory pastry with olives). The sandwich is generous sized at $7.25 (cut in half and sharable for modest eaters) and it is priced a little more than other more common choices that are closer to $6. The pagoca was fresh baked and cooling at $1.25. It's nice that their side/bakery items are priced low and encourages trying/sharing. I asked for tap water and it was provided in a non-plastic paper cup which was appreciated, minimizing disposable non-recyclable products. Parking is free at this end of Morse. With the weather cooling now, interior seating has two smaller tables for 2-4 and one larger one for 4-6. I'd suggest that the next reviewer (if not me) to visit, snap and post their chalkboard menu with prices to Yelp. (prices have been changing - saw an photo at their Facebook page from a reviewer but can see prices on the pagoca has since been lowered, and the Sujuk sandwich went up). Lovely little Turkish place. Every single bite of the ample kofte tostini was delicious. The outer wrap is a little crunchy and inside - sauce, cabbage, potato, and kofte (little meatballs). I heard about this place from a few of my friends and boy am I happy that I stopped in. I ordered the "House Geber Durum" ( yes, weird name) and it was worth it. The food was made fresh when ordered and it was absolutely delicious. The Durum (wrap) was perfectly toasted ( Tostini :)) with a soft yet crispy crunch. Inside the Durum(wrap) had an explosive taste, I couldn't get enough! Inside is small and has a boutique feel. They also have a generous outdoor patio that's has a cozy feel. Love, love, love this place!! I was on my way home from Evanston and looking for a halal food option. I came across this place and had to double check that they serve halal because I just couldn't believe such a hip and cool place offered halal! The only complain I have against this place is that there is no phone number that you can call in order to place an order on yelp or google search- you literally have to place an order for pickup or delivery via grubhub. Since I had somewhere to be, I didn't mind the grubhub order since that means it could be ready for pickup and makes my life so much easier. I placed the order- the sudzuk and cheese sandwich for my friend and a Tuna sandwich for myself. Because I had placed two separate orders, one was ready when I arrived and they were finishing up the other one when I was walking in. The owners are super friendly- a really nice couple that opened their doors last September and was unfortunately impacted by COVID-19. The patio areas were not yet open business when I picked up my sandwiches but I made myself a promise to go check out the patio once it opens up! My friend and I had a tea picnic at Fort Sheridan and the sandwiches I got here were our "tea sandwiches" because I didn't have time to make my own. We devoured the sandwiches before I had a chance to take a picture but they were amazing!!! A little gem that has been battered by the pandemic, we tried to go several times and it was always closed. It is on a stretch of Morse Avenue that is a visual desert with very few shops so it is hard to see. We finally were able to go and it is a clean and tidy storefront. The host is from Poland who is married to someone from Turkey. We ordered the very popular Kofte and Potato Tostini which has cabbage, potato and meat wrapped in a very thin wrap that is crunchy and golden brown. It was very tasty. The overall menu is small, but all the items seem thoughtfully created and taste good. Walk on over to Tostini. You won't be disappointed. read more

My husband and I came here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and he ordered the Kofte and Potato Tostini, which he let me try. There's a limited selection of soft drinks, including ginger ale, orange soda, and water. The food came out pretty quickly. I really liked my grilled cheese. It's not a traditional grilled cheese, but it came out hot and tasty. What could be better?! I also tried my husband's sandwich and it was delicious. It had a great combination of fresh flavors. A small fast casual restaurant that specializes in Turkish panini sandwiches. The day I went I had the turkey sandwich and a small bowl of lentil soup. The soup was light and blended so that there were no whole lentils. They also offer a soup of the week. I would not call the sandwiches huge, a little larger than average, which is great for me. They also offer some sweet and savory pastries. Drink options arecoffee or Turkish tea, along with some imported bottled beverages as well as some canned coke products and bottled water. Seating is limited and there is a patio area outside. I love that this part of Rogers Park is getting some much needed restaurants and cafes that are providing quality items. I walked past several times but always when they were closed, so I was thrilled to successfully order today. At the owner's suggestion, I tried the Kofte and Potato Tostini--"Beef meatballs, potatoes, cheese, cabbage salad, ketchup/mayo, spices."
