Which, I'd been nervous about after I mistakenly went to a 'holistic' dentist for that, which cost so much, and took very long to redo. I had to go to a perio specialist, then to put my zirconia implant crown on, Dr Edwards did a whole procedure to do that perfectly. And I'm very grateful to him that I can now chew normally and not worry about it anymore. Being born without an adult tooth is no picnic, but luckily there are pros like Dr E to help us out with these things in life.

They want you to blindly sign a screen to something that they have on their separate screen that you can't see, but even if you see it or they print it they could steal your signature or you could actually be signing something you have no intention to sign. You spend your whole life being told to be cautious of this and yet now this wack process is becoming more and more frequent. And not only do they not read the document, they just sum it all up. What's the point of even having a signature at this point?

While the front office staff and most dental assistants have been pleasant over the years, there are significant issues that overshadow these positives. Dr. Fox, the primary dentist, unfortunately displays an aloof and sometimes condescending demeanor. This attitude is particularly concerning in a pediatric practice where a warm, reassuring presence is crucial. The practice does offer some child-friendly amenities like toys in the waiting area, Disney movies playing during procedures, and the no cavity club with tiny plastic toys, but these small comforts don't compensate for the larger issues. Their hours are inconvenient: Monday through Thursday: 8:00am - 4:00pm? PPS schools this fall 2024 will start as early as 7:15am, which will make it even more difficult for us working parents to get there. It was already difficult enough. Sprout's fees are excessively high, especially considering the quality of care. They seem to price themselves as if they were a cutting-edge, boutique dental office in an upscale area, which is far from the reality of Portland and their facilities. This disconnect between price and value is stark and disappointing. A major concern arose when they made an error with my younger child's filling. This mistake was recently discovered and corrected by another dentist, who not only charged less but also used more advanced technology. This incident seriously undermined my confidence in Sprouts' competence and honesty. I've also noticed a tendency to push for unnecessary treatments. For instance, they tried to sell us on dental sealants for both kids, despite them being advised that they had very recently received sealants through a school program. This kind of upselling feels unethical, especially in healthcare. My advice to other parents: 1. Scrutinize your bills carefully. 2. Don't feel pressured to immediately agree to suggested treatments. 3. For any significant procedures, always seek a second opinion. 4. Be aware that there are other local dentists offering superior care at more reasonable prices. We've since switched to a new dental practice that provides excellent care without the inflated costs or questionable practices. It's a relief to have found a dentist we can trust, both in terms of quality care and fair pricing. With better hours, too! In conclusion, while Sprouts may have some surface-level appeal, the combination of high costs, questionable competence, and pushy sales tactics make it a practice I can no longer recommend in good conscience. Our children's dental health is too important to compromise on quality or ethics.

They got me an appointment the next week for the root canal with Dr.Dar, and during the procedure the dentist cut my permanent retainer and did not get consent, nor figure a plan for after with the retainer. Again, no mention that it had been cut. I had no idea. My teeth started to shift, and I got headaches, and then realized what had happened. I went back to that dentist (and was charged $150 just to be seen and they tried to charge me more), and the dentist was so rude about it and refused to do anything at first. I requested that he just cut the retainer so that it would no longer be pulling and causing more damage, after some back and forth he just removed it, but left all the glue. It was a horrific experience as I had to go back to my orthodontist and go through re-treatment and spend $1500 to fix this careless mistake. My orthodontist was also floored at the situation, and baffled by all of it and especially that they sent me out the door with all that glue. This situation was so frustrating, and not to mention, being in braces is painful and a hassle. (I had been through it already, and to have to be back in braces because of someone else's error that cost me time, energy and lots of money).
