Dr. Jani is the best, and the hygienists are great as well. The office is well-appointed and feels cozy. Never a hassle as far as billing my insurance goes (not the case with some dentists!) Also, as one reviewer mentioned, one of my pet peeves is when dentists try to upsell (braces, nightguards, etc.). I, at least, have not experienced any sense of upselling in my conversations with staff. Now, if they recommend something to me in the future, I know I'll actually need it! read more

I've been a patient with Dr. Jani for almost 2 years now. Everyone here is really friendly and goes out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Dr. Jani might be one of the calmest, laid back people I've ever met. He's very non-alarmist and will answer any question you need to ask him. I really like that I've never felt pushed into anything here. He even recommended against an in-office whitening and told me exactly why. I mean, how many other dentists would turn down extra dough because they thought over the counter treatments would work better on your particular set of chompers? I had such a wonderful experience today that I owe it to Dr. Milliron to write a review. This dentist was recommended by a friend, seconded by Yelp Reviewers, and confirmed by me -- First, the office: Clean, comfortable, welcoming. Equipment is modern and appears more up to par than my last dentist. Large viewing screens for the dentist to closely examine teeth. Even the bathroom is nice! Second, the staff: Friendly, polite, informed, pleasant to speak with; they treat you as though they have known you for years. They value opinions and care about the client. Third, Dr. Milliron: Very knowledgeable and patient to answer questions. He told me exactly what he was looking for to determine the health (and problems) of my teeth as we viewed the screen together. He told me which of my supposed "problem teeth" needed to be worked on soon and which could wait (or had no real issues). I had four problem teeth (I had just seen my previous dentist a few weeks back, who was no help and I thought may have caused the issues). Two teeth were causing me pain. Looks like I need to come in for some minor work, so I will be back soon. Looking forward to it. He also perscribed a special mouthwash for me -- to help with one type of issue I may have. His assistant Anna is very competent and pleasant to speak with. Additional pluses: The office was able to see me on such short notice. I hate going to the dentist, but the staff here are amazing...friendly, professional, but not stuffy. It feels like a casual good time when in the office. I didn't think it was possible but I actually ENJOYED my visit to the dentist today. I rarely write reviews but I felt compelled after my visit with Dr. Milliron today. I walked into the swanky office in foggy bottom. The waiting room is tastefully decorated with really eye-grabbing art pieces. The coffee table was filled with fashion magazines like Bazaar, Vogue, etc. (I love leafing through these mags all the while internally hatin' them for highlighting shoes that 1% of their readership can actually afford.) I hardly had a wait. Within 3 mins, I'm was in the reclining chair. BTW, I called a week in advance of this appt so they saw me really quickly. Dr. Milliron entered and he is the sweetest man with a gentle smile. And get this, he did the cleaning himself! This is UNHEARD of! He explained everything he was doing. He balanced the line between advice and comfort. I felt safe. My old dentists were tools who made up issues for the sake of charging more to my insurance company. This wasn't the case with Dr. Milliron. He did my cleaning all the while checking for abnormalities. He didn't push unnecessary procedures on me. He was just so sweet about the whole thing and I got the sense that he actually likes cleaning people's teeth. Who knew one could be inspired by a dentist? I hope I have as much passion as this guy and his air-scraper thing. read more

I recently was seen by Dr. Jani at the office in March, and though my visit was very pleasant; my billing experience with them afterwards was far from enjoyable. Their office manager Tom was rude and inappropriate to me over the phone after I had paid in full for my visit, then they deposited the check from my insurance after I had paid. If I hadn't called my dental insurer to inquire about my claim, I'm not sure they would have re-imbursed me. Drs. Jani and Milliron - please do not ever have your office manager speak to patients like he spoke to me. He refused to write me a check and THEN HUNG UP THE PHONE ON ME. read more

I have been going here since about 2007. I absolutely love this dentist! He is very friendly and professional, and I love that his name is Dennis (the dentist...ha ha). I trust what he says and he doesn't try to prescribe unnecessary procedures. I have always had dental phobia and this practice makes me feel relaxed and respected. The dental hygienists are also very nice. I recommend Marcella. The waiting area feels like a hotel with nice art and classical music. They are always right on time. Jose at the front desk is also super friendly. I have sent 5 or 6 friends to this practice and they all tell me they love it too. It is popular so it can be hard to get in with them for the initial appointment and if you have to reschedule they sometimes don't have anything available for a month or more. I was VERY pleased with this practice, especially Dr. Jani. I am new to DC, and it was not that long ago that I had a dental check-up. But at this practice, the dentist actually did my cleaning and check-up, and he was able to find things that my previous dentist had missed for years. 4 fillings later and some root planing, my mouth feels brand new! He was so professional - and I did not feel the shots or any of the work! And all of this work was completed in one visit (after the cleaning and check-up), all within two days of my first call! I've been going to Drs. Jani and Milliron for about 4-5 years.I would highly recommend this dental practice to anyone looking for a new dentist in DC. Two reasons why I think you should trust my opinion: 1) I have worked as a dental assistant in the past so I know how a dental office should work, how dental exams are done, sanitation procedures, OSHA standards, etc. 2) My mother was my dentist until she retired about 5 years ago and I had a heck of a time finding a dentist I felt was on par with her. I am very picky when it comes to dentists. This is a clean, well-appointed, organized dental office. The dentists are excellent and know their stuff. They keep up on the latest research, techniques, and procedures. They don't try to up-sell and they really care about your health and well being. The office staff is great and will bill your insurance for you even if you're out of network (they'll send a bill if there's a balance). If you're in network they also handle everything (I've been in and out of network as my insurance changes sometimes). They make your next appointment for you at the time of your current appointment so you're always on schedule. The hygienists are great. One thing I really like is that Dr. Jani (my dentist, although I've seen Dr. Milliron on occasion when Dr. Jani was out) will clean my teeth himself every once in a while. This makes me confident he knows my mouth and will notice if things change or there is an issue. I love Drs. Jani and Milliron. Highly recommend. read more

DR. MILLIRON IS GREAT! I moved here in the early 90s. A co-worker recommended his dentist in Maryland. He turned out to be very unsatisfactory. I responded to one of those ads for "free cleaning, x-rays, and dental exam." What a scam. At the conclusion of the dental exam that dentist provided a list of work that was inconsistent with all previous dental exams. A friend recommended Dr. Milliron. After seeing him, there were two issues he recommended that needed attention. He did not find the other issues previously identified. All of his staff has been great and the location is very Metro assessible. I was pressed for time to make a flight on the last visit for cleaning. Dr. Milliron took me in early and did the cleaning himself. I only fear that he will someday retire, which I don't see on the horizon, and I'll be faced with finding a new dentist. read more

I found Dr. Milliron on Yelp and I highly recommend him to anyone in the area that is looking for a new dentist. I had my first appointment with Dr. Milliron today, and I must say, I was very pleased with the service I received. Everyone was friendly and professional. First, the scheduling process was simple. I called in and spoke to Leslie, who was very polite and helpful. I got lucky because someone had just called and cancelled an appointment so I was able to get in to see the Dr within 10 days of calling. She gave me all the information that I needed regarding getting to the office, finding parking, and getting into the building. She followed up with a confirmation call yesterday to remind me, which was helpful because of course I had forgotten :/ When I arrived this morning, Anna was very pleasant and was a great help, she did everything from directing me on completion of my new patient paper work to doing my x-rays and giving me change for my dollars so that I could feed the meter. Dr. Milliron came in immediately after my x-rays. He was friendly, and personable. He asked questions about my dental history and answered all of the questions that I had about random stuff going on with my teeth. Also (of less import) I really liked that he was dressed in regular work clothes, something about that white dentist coat freaks me out.. He finished my consult within about 10 minutes and advised me of the next steps of my treatment. Billing was a breeze, the staff (whose names I can't remember..sorry) were informed about the nuances of my dental coverage and gave me all the information I needed to know what to expect for the cost of future work. They scheduled my follow on appointment right then and there and sent me on my way. I'm looking forward to my follow up visit, this team is great. read more

I have lived in DC for 5 over years and the only constants in my life are my eyebrow waxing lady and Dr. Jani. I don't dread going to the dentist- I look forward to it. This office has the friendliest staff, the most gracious hygienists, and a great team of dentists. I was able to get my now husband in for an appointment after his previous dentist told him he needed over $2000 worth of dental work. Dr. Jani explained to him that was total poppycock and that his teeth were in fine shape- music to his ears! If you can get in off the waitlist- do it. I can't recommend this office enough. I have never felt so positively about a dental or healthcare practice. Dr. Milliron is knowledgeable and takes time to carefully explain things. He's got wonderful bedside manners in that sense. I had a relatively serious issue (root canal) and a series of inexplicable symptoms. Procedures and gadgets that other dentists tried to sell me made me feel like they were just butchers or more interested in sales. He didnt recommend any of them even when I suggested a couple. Meaning, he's honest. So if you've got a lot of questions and answers make you feel better, you're in good hands. The staff overall are lovely, helpful and professional. Clean, hygienic, they're just top notch. My only sadness is that I'm moving and so the love affair is short. read more

I really loved this place. I called and messaged at least 6 dental offices in DC and Northern VA asking if they could do a resin retained bridge for my missing tooth. I got estimates ranging from $3,000-4,200 which is much more expensive than the estimates I read online (but hey it's DC and everything here is more expensive). I was disappointed and thought I would have to wait on it a few years until I move back to my hometown where things are cheaper. Fortunately, after messaging Dennis Milliron's office I got a call back and they explained they could do it for $1,500. The Dr was so nice and helpful. He did an excellent job. I'm really happy with the work I had done. Installment plans can be negotiated and your financial situation is taken into account. The front desk staff weren't the friendliest people. I got a stern talking to at one of my appointments because I made it known I was kind of in a rush to return to work. She wasn't very nice but I understand where she was coming from. But overall it's a great place. The Dr and his assistant are awesome and they do great work. read more

Is it possible to love your dentist? I would have said no, before I met Dr Milliron. To start with, the place is gorgeous and relaxing, the front desk staff are helpful and polite, and the appointment scheduling process is easy. Then once you're in the chair Dr Milliron is incredibly friendly. I've had a lot of work done with him including a root canal, a whole lot of fillings, and a bunch of preventative work, and each time he's been nothing but professional, highly competent, and he's really good at putting you at your ease. Some of his dental hygienists might have been stalinists in another life, but that's the role of dental hygienists... to scare you into flossing more frequently. read more

My gut told me this just didn't seem right, plus the other dentist hadn't taken the time to explain anything to me or asked if I had any concerns. I remember Dr Miliron. Twenty years ago I went to him wanting my tooth pulled because I was in a lot of pain. Dr. Miliron told me that I reminded him of his mother. He and his nurse gave me novacain then had me to lie on a table. I asked them why I needed to lie on a table. I just wanted my tooth pulled. They told me they were going to save my tooth. I told them I wanted to get the tooth out. I didn't want this tooth giving me problems later on. They went ahead and performed a root canal on me. He also told me not to worry - that my Blue Cross would pay for everything. Two weeks later I began to receive bills for hundreds of dollars from his office. That tooth also broke off later. I'm going to have to find a dentist to go in my mouth and dig out the rest of that root canal that I didn't want. That's what I remember about Dr Miliron. read more

After a terrible time at a dentist office I shall not name in MD, I decided I needed a second opinion. Dr. Milliron took the time to literally point out things on an x-ray to walk me through his entire thought process. Not something he is paid to do I am sure. That's the thing, this place isn't a "tooth mill", serving as many clients daily as possible. If you go there you will be tended to with great care. And listened to. That matters too, right? Additionally, you will not be ripped off, which can be the downfall of other "great" dental offices. One last thing, the staff is amazing. Dr. Milliron has been my dentist since 1997. I really can't imagine myself going to anyone else, even if I had to pay everything out of pocket. Yes, he is that good. But behind every good dentist there is a great staff. The administrative staff is friendly and professional. My hygienist, Masha, does a great job at education; things like proper flossing and brushing techniques. Recently, she discovered during one of my routine visits a potentially serious abscess...and I had no idea of it, as I had no pain or discomfort. All this resulted in a referral to an endodontist, but the staff made sure the Dr was a member of my PPO and even gave me a printout of my insurance info to take with me to facilitate with the verification of benefits process. The office is very nice and close to the GW Metro station. I particularly like that the business part of the office is separate from the waiting room, and you don't hear any conversations between the staff and patients. Over the years the practice has grown and gotten fancier but the staff, particularly Joe and Evelyn, have never lost that special personal touch that makes this practice special to me, almost like family.
