I visited this office for a routine dental prophylaxis (cleaning) and left extremely disappointed with the quality of care. What should have been a standard preventive cleaning turned into a painful and unnecessarily aggressive experience. During the procedure, there was significant pain and excessive bleeding, far beyond what is normal for a routine cleaning. Even more concerning, one of the fillings in my molar was pulled out during the cleaning, something that has never happened to me in any prior dental visit. At no point was there a clear explanation for the level of force being used, nor was my discomfort adequately addressed during the appointment. A routine dental cleaning should not result in pain, heavy bleeding, or damage to existing dental work. I have had many cleanings over the years, and this was by far the most uncomfortable and poorly handled experience. Based on what happened, I genuinely don't understand how this practice maintains such high ratings. Patients should not be expected to accept this level of care as normal. I would not return or recommend this office based on my experience. read more

This was BY FAR the best dental experience I have ever had. I arrived and everyone was very nice, and put me at ease. I explained that I had had a bad experience the past year, and had not been to a dentist since, and that I was supposed to have 4 fillings which I never did. Dr. LaRose was very kind, and this is the first time I have ever had a doctor do the cleaning himself. He talked me through everything he was doing, and looked at my teeth before and after the cleaning and let me know that he disagreed with the previous dentist, and that he only wanted to replace one very small filling that had fallen over the years. He is out of network for all insurance companies, so I had to pay out of pocket. But, they will submit the paperwork to the insurance company for you, so even though you pay upfront, you may get some kind of reimbursement for your payment. Even if I don't get any money back, it was well worth it to get my teeth cleaned and have such a positive experience. The view (as others have mentioned) also doesn't hurt! read more

This place is the go to for great care and customer service. As soon as you walk in you are greeted with a warm welcome. The staff is very proficient in there work and use all up to date hardware. The Doctor himself is as nice or nicer than a Chic-fil-a employee. The employees make sure that you are more than comfortable and will make sure you are in any way necessary before your procedure. I was TERRIFIED to go to a dentist after several bad experiences and, honestly, fear of the damage after several years of not going. Dr. Larose came highly recommended and I decided I could not put it off any longer. I could not recommend this office enough because: 1) It was easy to make an appointment, they open early and my appointment began promptly, and the location is convenient/easy. 2) Every single person I interacted with was very kind and no one judged me for my dental negligence. I even noticed from some wall hangings that the NEWEST person in the office has been there since 2003! 3) I have never gotten such a thorough teeth cleaning, but because of some numbing agents there was minimal pain and the hygienist humored me through the whole thing. 4) I left feeling like I had learned a lot about how to care for my teeth going forward. read more

I'm a long-time patient. A week ago this Saturday, July 11, my right front tooth began disintegrating, When I saw Dr LaRose on Monday, I learned that problem tooth was actually one of his own crowns, only a couple years old. This he would replace at no cost. But I also pointed out an issue with another tooth that had long gone unnoticed/unattended. Dr LaRose said this was a quick, 'easy' fix that could be repaired 'in no time'. He also identified 2 other teeth/same problem, and set to work. I doubt Dr LaRose spent more than 10 minutes and $.50 in materials. But he charged me $782 for these quick, 'easy' repairs. The emotional turmoil of having to see a dentist mid-pandemic is difficult enough, but the hassle and trouble of needing a crown replaced is significant. Had I been the dentist with a long-time patient a long-time patient I'd have either graciously comped the quick, 'easy' repairs or offered a substantial discount. Instead, Dr LaRose charged full freight. I was really really disappointed with what was no more than money grab, and I came away feeling nothing but abused.Very disappointed in you, Paul LaRose. read more

If you need a dentist, don't hesitate to try Dr. LaRose. I've been going to Dr. LaRose's office for over 20 years and while I'm not sure if I've ever reviewed them before now, today's visit is definitely worth writing about. Usually I'm lucky enough to only need twice a year cleanings. But on the occasion that I have a small dental emergency (like today), Dr. LaRose and his staff are always so flexible to get me in quickly and help solve my issue with the upmost of care, professionalism, sensitivity and patience. Jamie who works in the front of the office is sincere and kind, pays attention to all the little details in scheduling, is a great communicator, and just seems to really enjoy working there. Michele who usually cleans my teeth is absolutely the best at making me feel comfortable, always remembering to numb my gums before the cleaning, and is a wonderful conversationalist who takes my mind off of any discomfort with her calm, yet efficient manner. Dr. LaRose has perfected the balance of outstanding, trustworthy dental work and knowing how to ease a slightly anxious client's nerves. I used to tease Dr. LaRose about his soft humming along to the music playing while he did his examination, but truth be told, it's that extra special way he makes you feel comfortable while you are in the chair. You can tell he cares so much about his business, his staff, and doing the best for his clients. His offices are clean and beautifully decorated with pictures his wife put up of their family over the years - it just makes you feel a part of their family and I guess that's another part of what makes the dental experience there so pleasant. This is not the stereotypical dental "laughing gas" talking. I just think when customer service and integrity are spot on, it's worth mentioning. read more

I came here for a second opinion. The whole office staff is wonderful and they worked with me to make sure the visit was covered by the insurance. I was seen right on time. The doctor spent time reviewing my x-rays and examining me before giving his assessment. Only then did he look at what the other doctor recommended. A great unbiased second opinion and they were just genuine about making sure the problems were fixed. The most pleasant dental experience I've ever had. I was referred to Dr. Larose by a fellow biking friend. I am seriously afraid of dentists and hygenists - I have had some bad experiences in the past, where I have been "butchered" in the chair, by uncaring dentists/hygenists. I tell them that I need for them to be VERY GENTLE. My appointment there recently went very well. It's a pretty small office, a little claustrophic, but not too bad. The staff at the front desk are very friendly and caring. The hygenist, Michelle, was pretty good - I told her that she does her work like Jiffy Lube - fast and efficiently. :) One main thing they do is to apply a numbing solution (by a swab) to your gums, so that you don't feel any effects from their cleaning and work. This makes a HUGE difference right off the bat. I had full mouth x-rays and also bitewing x-rays done, along with the cleaning. They found that I needed to have a filling re-done, so I came back a few days later to have that done by the dentist, Paul Larose. Dr. Larose is a friendly guy, and you feel at ease in his presence. Hanging on the wall nearby is a Washingtonian magazine cover, saying that he made the Best Dentists in DC. That is reassuring as well. :) He also applied the numbing solution to the gums BEFORE he put the novocaine needle in - another great thing - that I didn't need to feel that needle. :) He, like the hygenist, worked fast and efficiently, and had his assistant there to take care of the hose to suck out any liquid in my mouth. They worked very well together. I must say, it's one of the better dental appointments I've had in my life, and that says a lot, since I'm 50. :) I've had a lot of life experiences! Although he is not covered in my dental plan, I think it's worth it to have him as a dentist, since he is close to my office and also is a very good dentist. He and his staff have worked together for many, many years, and it shows. I can recommend them highly. read more
