I have been going to Dr. Milliron's office for dental work since the early 1990s. I can tell you with all the confidence in the world that he is among the best dentists in the D.C. region. I have had several dental hygienists over the years and only one was a little rough. All others were excellent. And Dr. Milliron himself is kind, caring, and has a sense of humor. Dr. Dennis and his staff are amazing! I dreaded looking for a new dentist when we moved to DC, however, Dr. Dennis came highly recommended. I was glad to find a good dentist on my 1st try! The staff is super attentive, they go over charges with you and are always available to answer any questions. I had 3 procedures done fairly quickly in preparation to start an Invisalign treatment with an orthodontist. Pricing seemed fair when compared to other dentists in the area. The ONLY downside is the parking situation, but then again, that has little to do with the office and the services they provide. PMI will charge you an arm and a leg - its DC after all. read more

I hate going to the dentist. And I mean truly HATE. 13 years in braces, extra teeth, compounded wisdom teeth, sensitive gums, and major jaw surgery have all led me to this conclusion. The dentist is evil, and always has been. Hence why I waited 2 years after moving to DC for my first cleaning: not a good idea, folks. I finally mustered up enough courage to make an appointment, and the reviews here led me to Dr. Jani. The office can be a bit difficult to find, as the entire complex looks like apartment buildings (in fact, I think they are all apartments, except this office). I was shocked by the beautiful and spa-like decor when I entered the office: it was like a little oasis, complete with a Bergdorf Goodman catalog. Cool colors and couture put me at ease. I filled out the necessary paperwork and met Joe, the resident receptionist/greeter/all around friendly guy. He settled me in, hung up my purse (nice touch!), and explained the plan for the day: x-rays, a good cleaning, and an exam by Dr. Jani. The x-rays were a breeze: I always love to see my Terminator-like screws show up! I then met Ellie who gave me a very thorough cleaning, which I desperately needed. She was never condescending about how long I had waited to return to the dentist or about my obvious lack of flossing skills. That was a first! Instead she recommended I come back in 3 months rather than six, just to improve my gum health. Makes sense to me. She even did a very detailed rating of my gums and documented it so we can track my progress. Dr. Jani was very kind, soft-spoken, and friendly. I liked him immediately, but even moreso after the exam. Again, there was no nagging about what I should be doing, just a realistic summary of what was going on with my teeth and gums. I appreciated the way he spoke directly to me, not trying to dumb things down too much but also not speaking in medical terms. After my appointment, Evelyn did a fantastic job of walking me through upcoming appointments and my insurance info. I have never been to a doctor where they pull up your exact insurance information and explain it all to you. I've never felt so informed. It's a very strange feeling for me to find myself walking out of the dentist's office in a good mood, and yet here I am. I *could* chalk it up to a more mature me, but the nerves I had before my appointment make it clear that Dr. Jani's office is the only dentist's office I'll ever NOT hate. read more

"Do you have mostly female patients?" "Why do you ask that?" "Because you have fashion magazines in the waiting room and don't dress like dentists." "We just like promoting a casual, relaxed atmosphere." Dr. Jani shouldn't have been taken aback by this exchange given that he dresses as if he's going clubbing: well-fitted, stylish shirt and pants, lizard ankle boots. I always feel underdressed when coming here for an appointment. Combined with the fact that every time I see him, he's jetting off to some fabulous locale like Nicaragua or Vietnam, I feel so boring and nerdy. Is your dentist supposed to make you feel this way? When I first came here four years ago and saw copies of W and the Barneys catalog in the waiting room, I knew I was going to be taken care of. And I have been. My cleanings and exams have always been thorough. Dr. Jani is friendly, answers all my questions, and never rushes into doing procedures unless they are absolutely necessary. I never deal with billing hassles thanks to Joe and the rest of his crew. The only con is that making an appointment for this office is probably harder than getting into Komi. Still, I wouldn't go to any other dentist if I can help it. Maybe I should don Prada for tomorrow's appointment... read more

The staff are extremely kind and the office is beautiful! I called for an appt and it was scheduled for later that week which is UNHEARD of for most appointments. The dentist was quick and friendly, and I was out the door in about an hour. The only down-side to this place is location. I've lived in DC for two years and know my way around pretty well, but I highly recommend google-mapping the place earlier. I missed my appointment looking for it because it was in an apartment building (luckily they rescheduled me for early the next morning- another plus). I had to park in the garage which charged something like $25 over anything past an hour. I was parked for an hour and 6 minutes and had to pay... womp womp. So before you go make sure you: 1. Know exactly where you are going, and in which building the office is (there are two large builings and about 5 different entrances). 2. Give yourself enough time to park on the street. Walking 6 blocks may be a pain but its better than paying over $20 read more

I've been to Dr. Milliron about 3 times in the last 6-7 months so I finally feel qualified to write a review about him. I have experienced no glaring negatives - Dr. Milliron and the hygienist are both friendly and personable, and the staff is helpful in explaining everything else. While the front desk does like you to call ahead 24 hours if you have to cancel or change your appointment, they did it for me on short notice once, which I appreciated. My first encounter with Dr. Milliron was a root canal, which we all know are never pleasant. Though he doesn't do them himself, he has a friend over in Dupont Circle (Dr. Fonseca, another good dental specialist) that he called and helped me set up an appointment with. He prescribed me medicine for my tooth pain and to my knowledge did not charge me for the x-rays to see what the heck was wrong with my tooth and what was causing such great pain. Dr. Milliron even explains to me what he's probing my mouth with and what the tool does (though most of it goes over my head since I'm not a dentist), and constantly checks to see if I'm doing ok in the chair. He doesn't hassle you if your teeth are less than stellar on your visit. Also, the office and waiting room is really nice. It reminds me more of a hotel lobby than a dentist's office. A word to the wise - I would suggest finding a parking spot out on Virginia Ave or taking the Metro instead of parking in the garage across the street because it can get rather expensive. Recommended - as long as I'm in the DC area I see myself being a patient of Dr. Milliron's. read more

Dentists stress me out. I generally suffer from uncontrollable shaking and complete anxiety hell from the time I enter until quite a while after it's over. That being said - Dr. Jani and company created the best dental experience of my life. When you get there it's more like a salon. The dental areas are away from the main area so you don't hear drills (which is what starts the shaking) and they have nice music going to relax you. After filling out my paperwork I was promptly taken back and received information about how my teeth currently looked and what the possible treatments could be. I have options? That's NEVER happened before! Generally all dentists I've seen just do what they feel is right whether or not you're completely on board. Throughout the procedure (I had a cavity which required my nemesis the drill) Dr. Jani made sure that I was as relaxed and as comfortable as I could be. He worked quickly and didn't try to have a conversation while his hands were in my mouth (one of my biggest pet peeves); however, he did take the time to make sure that I knew what was happening and knew my options. I made an appointment for a couple of weeks from now for a cleaning and I wasn't in a fit of nerves from having to do so. At the end they completely explained exactly the costs of my visit and what was going to be covered by insurance and what I was going to owe. Even if I didn't have insurance to cover it I thought it was incredibly reasonably priced (I called many places looking for a dentist and many were just ridiculous). I'm terrible at understanding insurance so it's nice to have someone go over all of it so that you can actually understand. If you have to see a dentist in DC I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Jani! read more

Everyone I interacted with was nice and professional. The office is kind of swank and they do all of their paperwork on ipads. Dr Jani was so nice and informative and gave very helpful suggestions. My biggest issue with dentists is that I often feel like they are trying to "upsell" me for things I don't need. I never want my medical experience to be based on the dentist/practice selling more services, given how vulnerable and uninformed I am in these situations. That said, this practice was NOTHING like that at all. Not even a hint of it. I plan to keep going here until they kick me out. read more

This place is great. I have been going here for 5 years. Dr. Jani is my dentist and I adore him. He explains everything really thoroughly and takes plenty of time to listen to questions. He has the practical approach to dentistry as opposed to nagging about flossing that you get in other places. As Jenny mentions, the office staff here is also amazing. They are super friendly and know how to help with all the various insurance paperwork (they do it for you in most cases). I have stayed with this dentist through an insurance and employer change and for me that is the highest compliment you can get. read more

Having had an exceptional amount of dental work done in the last 5 years, I can say that my trips to Dr. Milliron have been the most pleasant, comfortable, and informative dental experiences ever. The staff is courteous, friendly, and knowledgeable - several people have mentioned how great Joe is, and I'll echo those comments. I always feel like I come away with new information about my teeth - and encouragement about ways I can take better care of them. Joe in particular made me feel much better about getting a night guard by sharing about how he got one recently as well. And when I was overcharged for the night guard - my insurance paid more than they estimated - they had already sent the refund to the accountant by the time I called. I had pain in two of my teeth, both of which had been previous fillings. I called in worried and I got an appointment for the next day. It was a wonderful experience! I normally go to the dentist only when I have pain... Dr. Jani did not try to convince me that I have to take extra procedures or have any fillings. In fact, they were very efficient, friendly, and found out that my teeth were sensitive because of my wisdom teeth and not a cavity issue. Within 20 minutes, I have some medicine for sensitivity and a reference for an oral surgeon. I would really rec them to anyone. And I REALLY dont like dentists... read more

It doesn't get much better than this, folks. I actually look forward to going to this Dentist. They are professional, courtesious, and downright friendly. They also know that most of us don't brush after every meal--as we should, and gives solutions for this lifestyle choice instead of berating us. They also are quite knowledgable of over-the-counter products, instead of pitching their own services. The only catch? In most cases, there's a six month waitlist. Better get on it! read more

After a terrible experience with another dentist in D.C., I was lead here by fellow yelpers. As usual, I was not led astray. From being able to obtain a same week appt. to the above average skill and care given, this office was fabulous. It was my first appointment and it became very clear that I needed a root canal. Unfortunately my wisdom tooth was leaning against it and other complications arose. Not a problem! Dr. Milliron went away for a moment to make a personal call, came back, and told me that he had called his friend who was a specialist over in dupont circle. I walked over, had the procedure, and was on my way. All in all, I highly recommend it and know that all of my dental needs will be taken care of at this office from now on. read more

I went to 3 different dentists in DC prior to switching to Dr. Milliron's office. I was nervous going in at first because I had really terrible experiences at the other offices, but I feel like this practice deserves a category of its own. The office itself is very peaceful and clean (as other people have said it feels like a spa), and all of the staff are genuinely friendly. It's nice to go into a business and know that the people who work there love their jobs--it really shows! The office is super convenient to get to (Foggy Bottom metro). They do schedule 3 months in advance, but as other people have said, there's a reason they are so popular. My appointments have been with the same hygienist (Masha) and Dr. Jani for the last 3 years. I am not just Patient 3424 to them; it's a personal experience. They know me by name and and ask how things have gone since I last saw them, bringing up things we discussed in previous visits. I think very highly of Dr. Milliron's practice, and I couldn't recommend them more. read more

I'm actually a patient of Dr. Jani who is part of this practice. I've gone to the same dentist for years, always scheduling a visit when I went home to see my parents. However, with dental insurance that covered me only in DC, I took advice from some colleagues to go to Dr. Jani. He is GREAT! I love this office, everyone from the receptionist, to the dental hygienists to the "scheduler," and of course Dr. Jani. This place is professional and believes in customer service, which nowadays some medical facilities have thrown out the window. The practice is a little fancy, but never tried to "sell" me any services I didn't need like some dentists do. They are hard to get an appointment, but they are good about putting you on a waiting list and calling if there's a cancellations. The one issue is its location. It's on the outskirts of Foggy Bottom and it's a little hard to find in the Columbia Plaza area. Once I got over that, no issues or problems! Unfortunately I recently changed jobs and my new office had insurance that this office doesn't use. :( read more

I hate, hate, hate going to the dentist because of those skull-numbing drills and finger-cringing pick tools! And don't forget the syringes that make your gums go numb when they want to extract a tooth! Well, my first appointment here wasn't at all bad! Really! Not. At. All. The receptionist was very friendly, welcoming, and quite informative. She did her best and went beyond when I had any questions and boy, it was smooth sailing from there on out. Marcela was the one who took care of me and did a superb job. She was patient and courteous! I was in there for a check up and a cleaning and it went well. I won't put in the details, but let's say it was surprising that I wasn't cringing or flailing about wildly. Afterwards, Dr. Milliron came by to elaborate what was going on with my teeth.
