We stopped by for dinner last night around 6pm. There were about 8 people in there. Almost left but stayed. My eggs were raw, bacon was old, did not get my sausage, coffee was ice cold. The manager was clueless about how to run a restaurant and he was rude. The only positive thing was the waitress. She was brand new on the floor by herself, no one training her, but she was trying her best. DENNY's needs to replace that manager and assistant manager ASAP!!!!!! We walked in waited to be seated for about 20 minutes. I had to ask if they were going to seat us. We finally got seated, then we waited another 20 minutes, people who came in after us got seated and served drinks while we were still waiting. They were more worried about being on the cellphones or checking them than their customers. We ended up getting up and leaving and went to a mom and pop shop instead. Can I give no stars? Let's just put it this way... If you need to eat gluten free, just get water. I've tried eating there a couple of times since my last review. How can the food be both raw and burnt at the same time? I order only items marked with GF...it means nothing to this Denny's. I was lulled by the waitress' knowledge of the GF items on the menu. She's not the cook. The entire time I was eating, I imagined Gordon Ramsey critiquing my plate, interchanged with the Christmas meal scene from 'Christmas Vacation'. Back to them being unsafe for anyone needing to be GF, I can't understand how they managed to make GF salmon (dry and crunchy around the edges o_0), hash browns (raw, yet burned potatoes loosely piled on the plate needing to be eaten with a spoon because they fall through a fork), and "sauteed" zucchini and yellow squash (literally raw but burned to blackness (did they use a blow-torch? napalm??)) in a way that would give a gluten sensitive person gluten poisoning. Not attentive waitstaff. Took us forever to be seated, finally had to go find a waitress and ask. A long time between sitting down, placing drink orders, food orders, getting our food, and paying. Again, paying took forever to get someone to help us and the second time we left money on the counter and left. It really wasn't busy so I don't know why it took so long. I normally don't leave reviews for anything but had to for this one. Never go here EVER. Everytime we go something is always wrong with our order and it's not simple mistakes either. From fries and the whole meal being ice cold to them forgetting all our sauces we paid extra for and them telling us oh we're out of that sauce but still charged us anyways to forgetting a top bun on the burger to them forgetting every single topping to put on a burger meaning no lettuce tomatoes onions NOTHING was on it besides a flimsy piece of chicken that looked like it was reheated in the microwave. I visit here always on my way back from Texas, late nights. Jessica is always a pleasant and delight at the end of my road trip. So I thought hmmm, I think ill take the family in on Sunday. That was the worst idea. We were sat and our drink order was taken, 10 minutes later we received them and our order was taken. We watched our waitress put in our order, and we waited. We were seated at birds eye view of the kitchen. The cooks were not anywhere to be found. I timed how long before a cook began cooking again, 17 minutes. this is 10 am where it is the busiest times, how does your cooks and manager go missing? The food was terrible and looked like it was thrown on the plate. The butter was melted on my pancakes. Our waitress had no name tag. The only time ill visit Dennys again is on my drive in between1@2 am where I know the service will always be good service. They could take a few lessons from your grave yard girl. And maybe think about better management. read more

We just had the worst experience EVER! I don't even know where to begin. When we first walked in the lady at the counter ignored us. Then once we sat down we waited about 10 minutes before anyone came to get our drink orders. It then took about 10 more minutes for the to bring a cup of coffee and watered OJ. Yes, watered OJ. We sent that back twice. Other patrons were also sending their "OJ" back. We still don't know who our actual waitress was. Supplies (ketchup and sugar packets) at the tables, ours and others, were out. No one ever came around to check on us or ask how the food was. My husband had to flag down a random waitress to get a refill of coffee. The so-called manager was very loud and barking orders to the waitresses. You could tell other patrons waiting to be seated, already seated, and waiting to pay were also disgusted. I really like this Denny's. However, the hostess (manager) never cracks a smile and just expects you to follow her to a table...Brenda the busgirl is the hardest worker in that place. She is 70 years old and runs circles around everyone. This particular Sun morning the joint is half empty and the waiting area is completely full because no one is seating them. The young man waiting tables is twirling his thumbs because he has one table. Leadership is seriously lacking here. Why are the two oldest women in this place the fastest and hardest workers??.. Really.. Whats wrong with this picture? Anyways, Im still giving them a good rating because its clean, good prices and good consistent food. Plus Brenda and older waitress lady are awesome! The problem is there's only like two restaurants open on Sunday morning in Carlsbad (unless you want fast food). We entered & stood at the counter waiting to be seated for quite awhile, even though there were three staff standing at the counter! The restaurant is dirty and dated. We should have turned right around, but we stuck it out. The waitress took our drink orders and brought out our drinks....in dirty glasses! I ordered egg whites with spinach & fresh fruit. Went in for a late dinner this evening and Taelyn (our server) was amazing. She was very polite and friendly as she waited on us and the tables around us. Poor girl was busy busy seeing as she had 5 tables who all came in pretty close together. We loved her service and the food was great however when another server sat another table on the opposite side of the restraunt to which Taelyn was unaware of some time had passed by when whom i am assuming was a manager or maybe serving manager started to help this gentleman came over ranting about how she had to help him and to which the other servers and a trainee started very rudely asking why taelyn hadnt got that table( let me claryify that Taelyn was the only one working the floor while everyone else was cutting up with an employee that was of shift ) . i felt so bad for her she was doing her best and a great job at it too while her coworkers were being lazy and riding the clock. They were out of strawberries for an entree at another table and after this poor girl explained to tgis table and offered a substitute to fix the issue the manager from before approached her table and let them know again that they were out of strawberries and said " i dont know why she didnt tell you we were out of strawberies " by this point my blood was boiling as a server myself i watch and listen all the time and it took all i had to just finish my meal and leave because this poor girl was on her game and doing a wonderful job and her coworkers / teammates were not only singling her out but being very open and obvious about doing so. So In summary food was good service was great but her teammates could do better !! read more

The service on Monday was above and beyond. The food was even better! The manager/cook made sure we were well taken care of. As well as giving words of encouragement to her staff. The young lady was in the front, the back, cashing people out, and making sure the restaurant was getting cleaned and on a path to a successful night. All of our food came out picture perfect! Let me start by recommending that you DON'T go at peak rush times....they can get VERY backed up!!! I tend to go between 9am-11am or 2p-4p on weekdays...and avoid going during 8am-3pm on weekends....way too busy. Check the parking lot...if it is 3/4 full, your service won't be fast!! For breakfast, I love their new pancakes...light fluffy and a touch of sweetness. At other times I confess to being addicted to their Onion Rings!! My servers are usually good at refilling my drinks. then again I am a regular(they don't even ASK what I want to drink anymore!! he-he. I will be fair and give this Denny's a two star for tonight but that's pushing it. I came here late expecting a fresh made Valentine's Day dinner and was seated in a booth in the back with no silverware and no waitress to be seen at least five minutes later a waitress, a very nice lady, took our order drinks appetizers and all and was back with the drinks fairly soon. The wait for the food wasn't too long, but when we got it the wait was not worth it. My boyfriends burger was bland, messy, and watery. The patty tasted like beef you get in canned stew. His fries were alright, not the freshest, but fine. My meal was a combination of over cooked and undercooked foods plated and thrown into the microwave. My hash browns were half burning hot and half frozen cold, and my bread turned to dust in my mouth. The service was very nice and they comped my boyfriends burger and gave him free endless pancakes which were good. Horrible, horrible service! Food is what you'd expect, no surprises there. Our waitress disappeared after serving our food, never saw her again. I made the mistake of asking a different waitress for a coffee refill and got my head bitten off. Later, I asked someone else if our waitress was available and she responded with "What do you need?" This is the worst Denny's I have ever been to. we came in as a group of six. a group of eight came in after us and was seated before us. when we asked what was going on they said they couldn't see our name anymore because all the names around it was scratched off. then our order came out or should I say half of it did and they said they'd be back with the rest in a minute. the rest came out but it wasn't what we ordered. so then she comes back again with some food that was close enough so we just took it. finally the ticket get there and is all messed up. I love Deniz and go there in every town we are in but I would never go back to this one and don't recommend anyone else go there either.
