My sister and I showed up around 7:30pm knowing they close at 8pm. My grandmother had just been at the doctors all day. She has cancer and was at an appointment that was supposed to take half a hour and turned into 6. My grandfather and her had spent all day at the hospital doing tests and getting fluids and all she wanted was Denny's Mac and cheese afterwards. When we showed up half an hour til close I didn't expect to be greeted with much glee, especially after admitting we had 2 more people coming but they weren't here yet. But the woman, running what seemed like to be the whole front area, was kind and didn't make us feel rushed or bad about anything. She didn't know how poor my grandparents day had ended up being or how much my grandma getting to have this Mac and cheese really meant. I've served tables for over a decade and know what it's like to have people come in right as you're about to close. So i felt bad coming in in the first place and I expected the employees to not be super enthusiastic about us being there so late. We were traveling all the way from Colorado to Chicago this was our way back, we got there and we ordered 2 strawberry lemonade's and we got just normal lemonade's wich it was fine no big deal but then we start ordering, we been in other Denny's before and we never got this experience we tried to order some fried jalapeños and the lady Sarah was extremely rude and kind of judgmental about it she said there's no way to make it and that she can't offer it in a very rude way, we're already pissed off at that point and then the food take over 1 hour to arrive and incomplete, she said "somehow the order got lost and they were barely making it" at the point we just had enough we ate and we left, such a shame to have people like that working at the establishment. read more

WOW Last Denny's American Classic Restaurant left in The State of Iowa. Took us a while to get here...Always seeing the occasional TV ad and I Always Say to Myself "Where the Heck is this Place?" And then I remembered it's hiding in the old "Flying J Truckstop"...now "Loves". So we made a point to find this classic breakfast masterpiece, almost getting swayed to "Cracker Barrel" always slammed on Sunday Morning soo back to the mission at hand; get to Denny's and soo glad it was super duper nice place with no waiting, coffee in minutes, ordered in five and food within 15...WOW again. I went with the loaded veggie omelet plate overflowing w/ hash and butter smothered rye toast, and ruby red grapefruit juice...My Norm. MY Lady went with the classic SLAM to get the big fluffy pancakes. 20 minutes later it was devoured and we are on the way for a "Sunday Drive"...Nice Surprise in Clive!!! read more

When I was looking for a good turkey dinner during the Christmas season and no one else had it, Denny's does! See pics. We stopped in for take out and it tasted very good, even though we had ours at home! Unusual, since everything tastes better fresh from the kitchen anywhere, said including restaurants. Trust me on this, I've done nearly a thousand reviews elsewhere. The turkey was moist and the corn wonderfully sweet. Even the mashed potatoes were good. Clean. Recently remodeled. Very friendly staff. Very family friendly. Plenty of parking. Marcydiner tantrum scale of 5/5-no screaming kids. Prices are good. I'm close to considering this a top ten. I'll have to eat here a couple more times first. read more

This location is located right next to the Loves gas station. Inside looks kind of older and run down. My experience for a Saturday night was good. Walked in got seated right away for table of 6. This included two toddlers. Overall service was excellent. Food is so so, but its a Denny's. Server took our drink orders and appetizer order. Appetizers came out very quickly. Ordered onion rings and bottled cap. Surpisingly the bottle caps aka fried jalapeños were crispy and spicy! Would definitely order them again. We had two kids meals - dino nuggets and the grand slam breakfast. Kid enjoyed his meal. Kids meal comes with drink and on Saturday the kids meal is free with a purchase of an adult meal. Siracha burger and fries - imo probably would never order again. In concept jalapenos, cheese, bacon and sirarcha sauce sounded good, but burger was so greasy the bottom soaked up all the oil and was pretty disgusting to eat. Fries that accompanied it were not too bad. Peanut butter and chocolate pancakes meal - pancakes where very sweet and would make for great dessert. Basic hash browns, eggs and bacon. If you are all about predictability, then Denny's is a great option for you. This chain doesn't change much - hello, home of the grand slam breakfast! The menu has quite a bit of variety so there should be something for everybody in your group. If you are on a budget, be sure to check out the value menu. I think they are used to a crowd that is willing to sit and linger over coffee, so don't expect to get in and out in a hurry. There is a TV in the dining area if you are looking for a spot to relax and get a bite while taking a break from the road (this Denny's is connected to a truck stop). I feel like the pricing could be better (it was close to $30 for two of us to get breakfast) for what you get, but you should leave full. read more

Came to Denny's because everyone is always raving about how good their food is. So me, my step daughter, and my fiancé go in and the place is packed. It took them about 8 minutes to sit us, which I was impressed by because they had a long line. We sit down and it takes about 5 mins for the waiter to come by and right off the bat she seems to be in a hurry and somewhat rude. Almost as if she's hurrying us up to get our drink order. We wait, and wait, and wait. Food takes about 30 minutes to come out. My step child only ordered 3 mini chocolate pancakes with scrambled eggs, my fiancé ordered French toast slam, and I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with fries. We get our food and I was immediately disappointed on how little fries I got. I got so little that they were scattered across my plate. The fries were decent, but my sandwich was even more disappointing. No flavor what so ever! Just bland and dry! My fiancé also seemed to have had a way too small portion of hash browns and she said her French toast was decent. My step child finished her pancakes in a few bites then she complained about the eggs. I was skeptical being that she's just a picky eater, but I took a bite of her eggs and it was utterly sad. They were extremely bland, tasteless, and rubbery. We did get a 20% discount due to the wait which I did appreciate, but me and my family will never be going back. read more

I, as well, was not very impressed. We didn't want to eat our continental breakfast at the hotel & this was close by. It wasn't like some of the other Denny's that we have eaten at. 1) It was nice to see a group of employees congregated at the entrance smoking when we were walking up. At the very least have the common sense to smoke out back. 2) When we ask for a booth we were sat right by the kitchen when there were clearly other booths available. And when my boyfriend sat down in his seat it was covered in syrup, as well as the table being sticky. 3) Our hostess placed our drink orders, and clearly didn't communicate with our server, and our server asked for them as well. Not a big deal, but was annoying because we would have liked to order our food. 4) Felt overall dirty. The food was fine, as usual. I just don't like hearing the employees talking rudely about the customers and other employees. It's another common sense thing. I get that not everyone gets along or likes everyone, but at the very least have common courtesy to go elsewhere. read more

The 15 yo son had never been to Denny's, so away we go. Pre Christmas shopping traffic, just off I-80 and Hickman, getting there was ridiculous and since its part of the Love's truck stop the line of trucks getting in almost turned me back. The lot was fairly full and I was expecting the worst. Once inside the spacious restaurant we were surprised to find plenty of tables and were seated quickly with a choice of booth or table. Anna sat us and took drink order right away. Drinks came quick and we asked for a little extra time to browse. She came back in great time and helped us decide between breakfast or burgers. Recommending the burgers for larger portion we ordered: Bourbon bacon burger and bacon avocado burger. 10 - 15 min later our food showed. Burger patties were cooked perfect, medium, bun looked just like pic on the menu and not a generic white bun from Wally-World, bourbon sauce and sauteed onions spilled out the sides. The boy was very pleased with the flavor of his bacon avo burger and finished it all. All in all we were both extremely satisfied for his intro to Denny's. Who can say anything bad about dennys? It's a staple in amreicas dying dinner idustry. Be prepared to be around a whole bunch of truckers because it is a truck stop. Staff is pretty slow. Food may or may not come out burnt. I highly recommend the dennys slam burger. read more

Almost all the tables are dirty, I had to ask for a rag to clean our table, food is nasty...bacon was served cold, hash browns were mush, biscuits and gravy didn't even taste good. What can I say? It's Denny's. It's not a high class place, it's a truck stop diner like atmosphere. The food is good and cheap and service is fast and friendly. It's rarely busy and even on a Sunday morning we can get a table pretty much right away amid the church crowd. read more

This is Denny's just like most others. The food was good. The coffee left something to be desired. The water tasted strange...glad I wasn't in Flint Michigan. The service on the other hand sucked. When I walked in there was 1 other person in the restaurant. I was told to sit wherever and was promptly brought a menu and asked if I'd like something to drink. My coffee and water was brought out quickly and I asked for a minute to decide. She said she'd be right down from me when I was ready. Maybe a minute later I turned around and she was gone. Then some construction workers came in. I could hear her doing the same for them as she had for me, but with the extra chatter about who was not there, where they were going to be today ect ect. She got their coffee to them, chatted a bit more before she finally came over to take my order. When she brought my food, she said my toast was on the way. I was 1/2 done with my meal before I REMINDED HER about my toast. She spent quite a bit of time with the construction workers. One gentleman came in and stood at the counter waiting for several minutes before she realized he was there. He didn't look happy. When I left there were several people in the restaurant. The only ones who seemed happy were the construction workers. I understand the regulars thing, but your other customers are important too. read more

They made me wait 20 minutes past the quoted time, and didn't even give me my milkshakes that they charged me for.
