    WOW to the PICKES

Southridge shopping district has a lot of dining choices and this one is a good spot for breakfast, that's usually my stop in time but after Doing a little shopping we stopped In for a light dinner...Not to busy and I've had good food here soo I knew They could produce me a juicy Hamburger and it was to Be; double juicy with cheese, bacon, onion rings, L&Tomato, thousand Island of course and three big Pickles!! NICE and DELICIOUS as well, soo big I had to knock One patty to the side to get a proper mouthfull. ONLY wished The coleslaw was a better portion But it just ended up on top of my MEGA~BURGER. All was well At the Village This Evening!!

Rags left on the table, not sure if they gave it thought to clean at one point or they had a spill. Hard to tell!

Went here today against my better judgement. A friend wanted pie and it was Pie Day! The place was filthy. There was food on the floor and so many table went without being bussed. Then we're far from busy but for whatever reason were opposed to cleaning a table. The coffee mug I received was not smooth on a otherwise smooth mug which would indicated there is some funk left on it from another patron. It put up so many red flags up for this germ-a-fob. The only bright side of night was Brie the server. She was attentive and knowledgeable. It will be another 10 years before I can get the image out of my head and get dipped into another trip here. Yuck, yuck, yuck!!!

My husband and I randomly came here for breakfast. It was delicious! I ordered the Rio Grande Skillet and my husband ordered eggs and hash browns. Everything was fresh right down to the veggies in my pico de Gallo. We topped everything off with warmed apple pie (double yum!) and the service was excellent. Should we find ourselves back in Des Moines, this breakfast will be in the top of our list.

    Amazing milkshakes. A must!

I got breakfast for lunch here again for the second week in a row. This place has great breakfast items, and good pies if you like pie. Their milkshakes are to die for. Real ice cream and real fruit. Love it. For under $10 you can have a great sit down meal. Many skillet options. Many crape and egg variations. This place is not revolutionary by no means, but it is pretty tasty.

As has been the case on each of our visits, the food and atmosphere were off the charts. The service wasn't quite as prompt this morning as what I've become accustomed to, but the experience was still great. Best of all...I saw that they now have a daily Happy ("Flocktail") Hour everyday before they close - and it is a 50% Off special - so now I can add them to HappyHourDesMoines.com also!! Today, my wife ordered the Chicken Fried Steak and a Bloody Mary (see pictures) - and with all of the new items on the menu, our friend ordered the Smoked Corn Beef Hash (see picture) and I went with the Healthy Hatch Tacos (see picture). I swapped one of my tacos with our friend for 1/2 of his hash, sampled my wife's Chicken Fried Steak - and can assure you that you will NOT go wrong ordering any of them, as all were absolutely delicious!

And this was after we waited in line to get on the waiting list, just to be told to scan the QR code, to put ourselves in the waiting list. What?? I finally had to ask for the tables be cleaned so our party of 10 could sit. The waitress didn't bring some drinks, food was wrong and disappointing. They kept telling us they were short staffed but that just sounds like excuses. The two waitresses outside were not busy, it was manageable just unorganized. Too bad, it looked promising but when someone has to do your job (asking to buss tables, looking high and low for silverware), that's bad business.

It's a nice, clean, country-esque little space on Jordan Creek Parkway. They have an attractive menu featuring locally sourced meats and other products. I had the salsa Verde pork with eggs, and my wife had the biscuits and gravy. The salsa verde pork and eggs was delicious. The pork was tender, had a wonderful flavor with hints of tomatillo and lime with a lot of green chili and tomatillo salsa over the top of nicely cooked homemade fried potatoes. My two eggs over medium were on top with pico de gallo. My only knock would've been my eggs were more over done than over medium, but we're splitting hairs at that point. My wife's biscuit and gravy featured a lovely fluffy biscuit with an ample helping of sausage gravy with eggs and some of the same nice fried potatoes. I had a coffee which was fine. My wife had a specialty coffee called the Honeybee which she said was delicious. The servers were polite and attentive, and everything came out in a very reasonable timeframe. I would definitely recommend anyone in the Jordan Creek area. Who's looking for a breakfast spot to give Homegrown a go!

Our most recent waiter was Holly and she was great! She checked in the perfect amount of times, we always hate being checked on so much we can't enjoy our meal. I highly recommend their honey bee latte, I get it every time and almost always want one to go. I'm also currently Gluten Free so when I see pancakes as an option it's a must! Only downside is I wish their waiting area was larger. When it's cold or windy it gets over crowded. In a leased building that can be tough but maybe putting up a waiting area outside would be smart in all weather scenarios!

The host worked to get everyone seated as quickly as he could. A server was at the table almost immediately for our drink order, and they were served in no time. There is quite a selection of breakfast and lunch items to choose from, and I settled on The Classic. I really liked the option for a small cake instead of toast, and I enjoyed that tremendously! The ham steak was thick, juicy, and flavorful, and the eggs were scrambled perfectly. The hash browns were a little bland, and I would rather have had an option for breakfast potatoes instead. But the meal was good and reasonably priced for the portions. For those who like coffee, there is a wide selection of options. The place is cozy inside with warm colors and all of the workers were extremely friendly in their interactions with customer. I felt very welcome and the table was well taken care of throughout the meal. The restaurant itself is nestled in a strip mall off the main street, so it isn't something I would know was there if I were just driving by. But now that I know it is here, I will definitely make a return trip to try additional items on the menu that caught my attention (I'm looking at you apple and blueberry bread, cinnamon rolls, and crake!)

Located in a…read morestrip mall at the corner of Grand and EP True (by the HyVee), the decor is nothing special but it was light and bright inside. We were greeted and asked if we were dining in (it appears they do a brisk takeout business) and were told to sit where we wanted. It was surprisingly crowded for a Sunday afternoon at 4 pm. The menu is extensive and hubby and I both like Mediterranean food. I chose the Falafel plate, served with five falafel balls, hummus, a pita, and Greek salad. The portion was generous (ended up taking two falafel home). Served with tahini and their house green sauce (olive oil, cilantro, and jalapeño) It wasn't spicy but it was so delicious - I could get addicted to this thinking of all the other ways so could enjoy it!! The Greek salad was served with house dressing - garlic and yogurt, also very good. The falafel was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, and flavorful. The hummus was not at all grainy - smooth but just a tad bland. Hubby had the lamb skewers and liked them very much. Served with rice, salad, and hummus. He also took one of the skewers home. We both had the mango Fresca juice. A bit too sweet for me but I generally drink unsweetened beverages. Hubby liked it a lot. Service was friendly and we were checked on twice to ask how we liked our food. Generous portions, friendly service, good food, but not inexpensive (with tip, $55 for two) but what is inexpensive these days??
