Breakfast is the main time to come to this long time favorite in Bloomington. Denny's Doughnuts always has a variety of sweet treats on hand. It also has an indoor dining area if planning to sit and stay. Coffee is basic but it's hot at least. There's also bagels as an option. A pretty worn out looking bakery from the looks of things in here. It's obviously been here quite awhile, and is one of the few breakfast places around for locals. The main thing is the doughnuts obviously. Has a few other things to get started in the morning. It's about $2 for coffee, which is pretty basic stuff out of a well. A few flavors. There's nothing really interesting about it. It's about $1.50 for a bagel. These again are pretty basic, with limited options as far as toppings. Come here if getting a pretty basic breakfast. It's basic coffee and lots of doughnuts. There's also some bagels but these are unremarkable. read more

Oh my goodness--thank the universe for Denny's Doughnurs & Bakery! Traditionally, our marching band eats cookies and drinks hot chocolate after a long day of competing. In the past, the cookies were purchased in the suburbs of Chicago and driven to the Bloomington area. After many failed attempts to source cookies within the band budget, it was suggested we call Denny's! Not only were their cookies $6 cheaper (PER COOKIE), they were willing to customize them to match the show theme of wolves. The price was so nice, we ordered 2 for every high schooler! The cookies came out exactly as I imagined and they were so delicious! We enjoyed some leftovers back home for a couple of days. I am already dreaming about the cookies for the 2026 marching season! read more

Pumpkin quest 2025 continues and I hit a couple local bakeries for their seasonal favorites. Stopped at Denny's Donuts on South Main in Bloomington, Illinois and Got a friendly greeting when I entered the restaurant. Big business is take out but the also have a large seating area to sit and enjoy your treats! It was later in the day and they were out of pumpkin donuts so I had a apple spice doughnut instead. The Apple Spice donuts came three ways: cake, cinniman sugar or carmel. I got the. caramel, and I have to say the apple spice flavor was delicious with just enough spice and caramel not too thick, but added a nice note of sweetness. We'll have to come back for the pumpkin donuts earlier as they generally sell out per the staff. My 5 year old and I went to Denny's to pick up some donuts for a play date and for our family. While trying to decide, the staff was super friendly and helpful. The girl waiting on us was very sweet to our son, unlike another bakery in town. She was patient and friendly. All of my experiences at Denny's have been positive! I have sampled a few of Denny's bakery products over the years and honestly I have mixed feelings. I do not care for the cakes. We have ordered them for corporate events and I am just not a fan of the frosting. Just be sure you do a tasting before you commit when planning a wedding. The cookies are always great, and overall the donuts are not bad, I am just not blown away. They do have my favorite glazed donut in all of Bloomington- Normal, though. Average donut bakery serving average donuts. Yes, they can beat Dunkin or WalMart but when you go to a bakery you expect more. The Orange Juice donut was the best of the bunch I purchased but still not more than a light orange flavor in a dense cake fried donut. The Banana donut was almost gross with no real bananas and some fake banana flavoring. Fake banana works in candy but not in bakery goods. There was a Butter Curl donut that I was told wasn't available anywhere else so I tried one. Nothing special, just a yeast donut without a hole and no real special flavor. The Bavarian Creme was average too and didn't have much filling. I didn't buy anything else but they did look to have a nice selection of decorated hard sugar cookies. They also serve lunch foods during the week at the next counter but I was there on a Saturday afternoon. The location is good being on route 51 just south of the Wesleyan and ISU campuses. Not a big detour off of I55 and no more than ten minutes from most anywhere in town. I'm going to bet it the prime location that keeps this place in business and not the food. The parking lot could use a bit of repair and the yellow parking strips are quite faded and some drivers parked where ever they wanted because they didn't see the stripes. The general cleanliness both outside and inside was below my standards and dirty tables inside and piles of junk outside along with filthy windows makes me consider that food prep areas may also suffer from cleanliness issues. They could have gotten three stars if it were cleaner. Pricing was very reasonable and wouldn't be worth any higher of a price. I doubt I'll go out of my way to go here again when I can snag the same product at any Casey's Mart just off the expressway exits. read more

A fellow Chicago-Polish transplant heard this was *the* place to go in Bloomington-Normal for bakery quality pączki. Having moved around for much of my life, it had been years since I had the pleasure, so I was excited to tag along and try out Denny's Doughnuts -- obviously, baked goods from Kroger won't make the cut here. They have several options for filling (though if you want Bavarian cream, you'll need to come early -- they were already out by 10:30 on a Saturday morning). Raspberry, lemon, blueberry, and strawberry were still available, though. The strawberry filling was very thick and sweet, especially since the outside of the pączek was covered in granulated sugar; I ended up with an impromptu lip scrub by the time I finished it! Blueberry was covered in powdered sugar, so while my friend insists it was delicious, it still made a mess. The raspberry and lemon appear identical, both coated in a glaze -- and that was the problem. While the lemon was personally my favorite (the lightly sweet glaze perfectly counters the tart lemon filling), I would have liked to get the chance to try the raspberry. However, the staff kept mixing them up and giving us lemon instead -- I only noticed when I brought it home for my spouse to try, and my friend just dealt with the pączek she was given since she only spotted the error after taking a sizeable bite. Repeatedly serving lemon pączki when customers ordered raspberry is where they lost a star; otherwise, I found the baked goods quite enjoyable and at great prices ($1.40 total for a single pączek). I'll be back, and probably keep eating lemons. read more

Wow, yum, delicious, fabulous goodness! A few of the reviews and even photos almost kept me from stoping by. But I drove right by there and had to stop it was literally too convenient. They have so many good option, try the old fashion. The set up is totally old school including cute little old people shooting the breeze, enjoying tasty treats over a cup of joe. Denny's Doughnuts is an institution. Denny's is located between Bloomington's two main one-way streets. It has floor to ceiling windows, old men in trucker's caps sitting in "their" seats greeting regulars, and the kind of tired staff who you worry might roll their eyes if you ask a question but instead will surprise you with a quick smile that you somehow feel a sense of accomplishment for earning. Hands down one of my favorite places in town. Donuts are made fresh every morning, and it's always destined to be a good day when I'm in the area and stop in for a donut or two. I'm extremely fond of the blueberry cake donut they have. For someone who doesn't even like blueberries, it's a wonder I like them. So good. I just got a long john and a wheat bagel with garlic and herb cream cheese and I was NOT disappointed! Initially, I got the long john because I thought it would be filled (it wasn't) but even still, it was one of the lightest and moistest donuts I've ever had Also the bagel was delicious and they give you LOTS of cream cheese! This place is not ope 24 hours and there are some odd balls hanging out in this place. The donuts were decent enough and they have wide variety to choose from in their baked goods. The pace is old and unique and for this it is deserving of a special place as few new construction of building would resemble this. the coffee was good and the doughnuts pretty much basic but at east made on sport at the warehouse behind it is indication this place sells and ships these donuts to other outlets in the area. read more
