They've improved the pancakes and the coffee. This time I got the Clover Skillet that has corned beef hash. It was good but too many potatoes and seemingly less corned beef. We really love the food and the wait staff that's not a question . For a restaurant that closes at 2:00 tho I would wish they would invest in a major cleanup day of the restaurant. At 10:50am, my family of five was placed on the waitlist. After waiting over an hour, we watched two families who arrived after us (one party of five and another of nine) get seated immediately. Meanwhile, we remained overlooked--despite being on the text waitlist system the entire time. When I finally approached the front desk to ask what was going on, the two young staff members appeared immediately remorseful and admitted they had simply forgotten about us. That's not a minor oversight--that's a breakdown in basic customer management. Unfortunately, the experience didn't improve after we were seated. We waited 15 minutes just to have our drink order taken, while our server stood nearby on his phone the entire time. To make matters worse, we then received a text notification saying our table was ready--15 minutes after we had already been seated. At that point, we were ready to leave and go elsewhere. Our server only approached us as we were about to get up. This was a deeply disappointing experience, especially considering I was this restaurant's very first customer when it opened--something that once made it feel special to our family. We've always appreciated the owner and what this place used to represent, which makes the noticeable decline in service even more unfortunate. We will not be returning. read more

When we arrived we were quoted a 20 min wait for a table for 2 with 7 parties in front of us and we ended up being seated after about 15 minutes. Ordered a spicy Bloody Mary and it was just meh, not very spicy at all. The fig omelet was very good, very fluffy with havarti cheese, scallions, and honey, topped with prosciutto, and fig jam. The fig jam added a very nice sweetness to the omelette. The traditional egg breakfast was nothing special, eggs were a little dense, and hash browns had no distinct flavor. And to the egg republic... for which it stands... Tim picked this place out for our day in Bloomington. Admittedly, I haven't kept up with new places in Bloomington and never heard of this place. But it struck Tim's fancy so that's where we headed and what a pick it was. Walking in, the place seemed very upscale and modern. It has that open air seating area where it gets a bit loud when it's fairly busy. That's a bit of a problem Tim and I had while sitting there, talking and trying to order food. Tim got one of the specials listed on a sign by the door and I got the s'mores pancakes. Looking around, I think I was in for a pleasant surprise as everyone's food looked delicious and plentiful. When our food finally came out, I was glad I didn't order any sides due to the sheer size of the pancakes. It was almost as large as the place and there were three of them. A gentleman at the table next to us looked over and asked, "Are you going to eat ALL that food?!" to which I replied, "Well, I am sure going to try". In contrast to whatever Tim ordered (some kind of breakfast sandwich), I had enough food for a day and a half. The pancakes didn't come with any syrup and after a few bites without it, I knew I would have to ask for some. His meal in comparison looked like a side next to my pancakes. I am guessing syrup isn't usually served with this specific dish as the waiter didn't seem perplexed that the syrup was missing. As good as the pancakes were, there needed to be more than the chocolate drizzle to moisten them up. Once the syrup was added, I went to town until the halfway point when my stomach tapped out. It was just so good and so filling but more than I could put down which is rare since I usually can clear my plate without a struggle. I knew continuing would be dancing with the devil as we still have a full day of traveling around and I didn't want to be miserable for that. The pancakes were only $10, which is a hell of a deal for how big they were. Tim's sandwich was only $12. For how upscale and fancy the place feels, the food is very affordable and reasonable. I will definitely be spreading the word about this place to anyone I know who visits Bloomington and needs recommendations. I was still full from my meal by the time we got done exploring and headed back home. Can't beat that for $10. read more

For Bloomington I feel like this is a solid breakfast/lunch spot. Lots of options with a variety of ingredients and choices you won't find in other local spots. Mimosa flight is a nice option as well. The standard breakfast items are tasty and the coffee drinks are very good. Visited again for lunch during my trip and had the stuffed avocado, which wasn't actually stuffed, but sliced with the topping on the slices. It was a nice sized portion that I had to take home leftovers of. Service was great all three visits during my week as we were promptly greeted and seated, and service came right after. Love the decor and the layout and especially the swing after seating. It's very cute and a fun place to dine in. A sure hit for the town. read more

It's brunch, after all, and this one comes with BUBBLES. And in a town that's usually not drinks-forward, the approach is well-met. The place is crawling with eager and attentive staff: your soda and coffee WILL be full, your needs WILL be met; and not in an obsequious way, but with the same breezy ease and efficiency implied by the front-porch aesthetic. A well-run dining floor features food-runners who know already who ordered what (table numbers & seat positions are a hallmark of fine-dining training) and what's on the plate in case you forgot, or suddenly remember an allergy (menu-content training, again a hallmark of the same). The floor manager wanders and stalks and HELPS her staff, which is a terrific thing to see from a management team. Clearly, a degree of intense professionalism holds this entire "down home" feel together from behind the scenes. Brava. Food is on-par and filling in portion; tho, as usual, prices are a kiss high for starch-forward plates; but that's brunch in rented realestate. A couple enthusiastic thumbs up here. As much as I've felt this town needed another mid-level true brunch option, I continue to have my doubts about this location and the failed businesses that came before. Certainly convenient for us east-siders, it's also enough off the beaten path to keep it outta site and therefore outta mind. So I was pleasantly surprised to see the parking lot crammed the first week they opened, likely thanks to social media. And although we didn't make it until the 2nd or 3rd week, the lot was full the morning we did go as well. I then came back the Monday morning after the Super Bowl and noted that most of the tables were also occupied...and other than the initial curiosities, I've surmised that it is no fluke. The food is well prepared, the menu imaginative and the service quite impressive. The glitz of the mimosa flights with smoke bubbles is nice, but the home made corned beef hash (is anyone else in town doing that?) really gets my attention. The extensive menu, including pancake tacos, multiple Benedicts and a good smattering of (open til 2 pm) lunch items, is impressive, but a wide array of beverages including a luxuriously tasty large mug of coffee is just as important. The white napkin, multiple check-in service is refreshing, especially in these days of labor shortages, but the reasonable prices and portion sizes are probably more critical. The patio out back will be nice when it warms and the flexible 'private' corner space provides large group/event options. And since the lady and I generally prefer bar height seating, there's room for 6 or 8 patrons at the bar in the center just outside the kitchen. I am holding out the 5th star based on nothing completely blowing us away food-wise, all in all I'm quite happy with Egg Republic, a fantastic new edition to the local brunch scene! read more

The menu is huge and there are lots of options for any palate. Brunch is my favorite type of meal so I had a hard time choosing but eventually I ordered the pumpkin cheesecake pancakes with a side of eggs and bacon and a latte. Everything was delicious.
