One of the best experiences I've ever had at a Denny's. The food came really quick and was solid. Usually when I order a Grand Slam, there's something off about it, but here, the eggs were tasty, pancakes fluffy, bacon crispy, and hash browns flaky and delicious. What really sealed the deal was my waitress. I can't recall her name, but one of the sweetest ladies I've had the privilege of having serve me. This is the worst restaurant experience I've had in recent memory. The floor was extremely messy, the tables near us were not cleaned up for a good chunk of the time we waited for our food. Speaking of the wait, it took an 75+ minutes to get our food while the restaurant was about half full. The waitress while not "angry", was not very friendly. This started with her telling the hostess "don't sit them there unless you get them drinks". I don't know how it can be possible to mess up Kraft mac n cheese, but they did. We got there this morning and it was alittle busy they sat us at a booth (there was 4 of us) my dad was a bit bigger so we had to switch booths and the servers didn't like it they gave us dirty looks and treated us rude, our food took at least an hour when he brought our food out mine took longer for some reason. Here we are again 3 years since we have been to this Denny's and since my last review. Wife and I both ordered the Apple & Cranberry salad. (Cranberries aren't just listed as an ingredient, it's actually called "Apple & Cranberry" in large print.) They were actually pretty good although they would have been much better if they would have put the cranberries on/in them. I called the waiter over and asked him wouldn't it make sense to put cranberries on their Apple & Cranberry salad. He had to look it up in the menu to check it. They took 10% off bill. read more

Our server tonight was Mary m she was not a good server she acted like we were an inconvenience she was short never came back to the table to ask if out food was okay which it was not my boyfriends hash browns were in fact cold and it took us asking another server for help to get her to come ask us anything which she still didn't ask us if everything was okay just gave us our bill and our box and walked away. Now that Denny's has been trying to reinvent itself as classy & healthy-ish, it's actually decent to come to. The food has some variety other than the basic food groups of greasy/sticky/salty/gooey, & the lack of smoking is a plus as well. Decent place to go if you need to study late at night (although bring headphones) or just want someplace to congregate (the waitstaff is usually good about letting you linger provided you toss them a couple extra dollars). Worst service I've ever had. Came in with a table of 12. Most of us waited well over a hour for our food and quite a few were wrong and had to be sent back. I wish I would have listened to the other Yelp reviews of this place before stopping. We were in the mood for "moons over my hammy" for breakfast so decided to make a quick stop here while traveling. We were seated after a short wait, so far so good. Our wait to get drink orders taken, about 7-8 minutes, which was a little annoying. Another 15 minutes before our order was taken, now more annoyed. Another 10-12 minutes for food to arrive, full fledged annoyed! The food was just okay; I was not expecting fine dining, it is a Denny's after all...but the wait to be served was disappointing. There were only about 5 - 6 tables seated so I just don't understand. Only two servers and a hostess or manager that I could see. I'm not likely to return. Sorry Denny's. The wait staff is mediocre at best. The menu is your standard Denny's corporate menu. The coffee is pretty crappy and you're lucky if you get refilled before you run out. I guess the only thing they have going for them is that their wifi is more reliable than certain other diners in town and they're open 24/7. The hostest Lee made our experience rather uncomfortable and unenjoyable. He came over to our table after a few minutes to take our drink order because our waitress wasn't available. I made the joke of saying "clearly she's not here" in a joking manor and my guest and I laughed. He then proceeded to get defensive and become standoffish. Not understanding that it was a joke, took our drink order and walked away. Came back with our drinks and said he was getting us another waitress. When she came over she herself did not understand what happened and my guest then explained it to her. The waitress, who was acting a little out of the ordinary then told us that she would make Lee come over to apologize, he never did. It made out dining experience awkward to the point of almost leaving. On top of that the food we received was not the best. Our sausage was burned and dried out, toast not toasted, an extremely overwhelming amount of powdered sugar on french toast and a sticky table. We were too embarrassed to inform them of the terrible food. We are as much as we could, paid our bill and tipped well then left. The waitress then ran outside in the rain to hold up a small piece of paper that she wrote on saying sorry. The meal as well as the atmosphere was just not well and full of discomfort. I was blown away. We went for my friends birthday for lunch and he got a free grand slam. Ben our server was awesome with my 8 year old son. Ben engaged my son in conversation while taking us to our table and then helped my son make a selection of food and drinks by asking him questions and providing suggestions. Called in a to-go order. When I got home, it was the wrong order. When I returned, the woman who waited on me previously looked at the receipt and said it was what I ordered. Yes, what was on the receipt was correct, but it didn't match the order she gave me. When she asked the man sitting and waiting what he ordered, it was what she had given me. She took the bag, handed it to him and walked away, no apology, no nothin'. Wish I had asked for my tip back. We have waited one hour since walking in the door. We knew exactly what we wanted to order, the wild salmon at $10.99 because we've had it at a Denny's in Illinois. We have watched people who came in after us receiving their order, eating, leaving. We were just informed the reason for long wait is salmon is frozen. Hum. I just dropped to one star. Finally received order. We could not believe the salmon was extremely dry, no flavor. Left in microwave too long to take that over half hour to thaw it? Also, had to accept the side of 12 pcs of thinly sliced, shriveled zucchini far later after receiving piece of dried out salmon. Waitress apologized for the extreme wait and then the food that was served us. We stayed very civil, left her a tip, as not her fault. We are inconvenienced having 200 miles to travel yet tonight. Could've over looked the long delay if food would've been properly prepared, enjoyed at this Denny's in Lansing, MI. First off, the positives. There really was only one good thing about this Denny's, and it's that the bathroom was quite nice. It is the sole reason I did not give this Denny's one star. It had good elevator music and was very spacious. As I went in this room first, I had a good first impression. But that was soon changed. First off, I ordered an ice water before my meal, and the water took 25 minutes to arrive. Others who ordered milkshakes after me received them first. Second, a friend of mine who ordered an omelette found a hair in it. Third, another friend who wishes to remain anonymous found the ham in the Lumberjack Slam, I quote "repulsive." And even worse, another friend who has low self esteem said "thank you" to the waitress and was left unanswered and, by extent, unappreciated as a customer. He proceeded to cry all the way back to the hotel. And finally, as the icing on the cake, my partner (in tennis) had food poisoning the day after, which we believe may be linked to the French Toast Slam he described as "undercooked." Horrible service, dirty, would never eat there again even if it were the last place to eat out at.... this dennys is a joke. You last time I went it took 10 min to get seated and 15 more to get water I have diabetes and needed some thing to bring my level up so I asked for an orange juice and it came out with what looked like snot on the glass... I walked out and went to the nearby gas station to get some thing to eat. This is one of the dirtiest places to eat in lansing and this is just one of the three chances I gave them. Sorry! They weren't even busy! I stood for several minutes as waitresses walked past me, not acknowledging my presence. One of them finally said "oh, are you waiting to be seated?" Uh, no, I just like hanging out here by your sign that says PLEASE WAIT TO BE SEATED. The waitress seemed completely incompetent. I asked for coffee with water & YES to cream, she comes back with a coffee & nothing else. I sat for nearly 10 minutes & watched an elderly couple standing where I once was waiting to be seated. They too began to grumble about the seemingly unnecessary wait. When I finally got the disappearing waitresses attention to get cream, she quickly disappears again. Completely ignores my table. I never got my water she never came back to take my order. So I threw $2.25 on the table told them that was for the crappy coffee & their service is crappy and I'm out! I've been to several Denny's in my lifetime, and sadly I discovered today that this location is by far the worst I've experienced. The loaded tater tots we ordered we raw inside and smothered with some sort of mysterious white cream sauce, yet the picture on the menu made them look like they were topped with greens and Mexican fixins. Nothing but sauce on ours. I also ordered the fried steak breakfast meal, which seemed promising on the menu but looked dry and microwaved. It seemed to be on par with a frozen dinner, perhaps because that's exactly what it is. As for the dinner my plus one ordered, it was cheap and generally unappetizing breakfast food. The service was fine, but when you consider that a meal for two (an appetizer and two entrees) costs around $29 (including tip) here, it seems like an extremely disappointing and regretful gut bomb. Especially when we could have stopped at any other chain-style restaurant in the area. read more
