Arms And Embers is located in the quaint downtown district of a small town, there is street parking and small random public parking lots. Seating options include, high and low tops and partial booths. The restaurant offers an open concept and decor is simple with a slight industrial flair. We have visited for both breakfast and dinner and were greeted warmly each time upon entering. On a whim we tried them for breakfast and our breakfast experience was very nice. We selected the loaded biscuits and gravy and the classic French toast both were delicious, full of flavor and nice portions that offered a bit of leftovers. (none of this is pictured) Our dinner experience was planned based on a specialty menu offered for a holiday that grabbed our attention. We made reservations and planned to try several things from the menu. We figured that since this was the only menu offered that evening that special care and attention were being given to each dish. We started with two appetizers: brussel salad, their version of bruschetta, and a couple of cocktails. All were decent and tasty but not necessarily "special". We decided on entrees of the flat iron steak and blue crab pasta. The cut of steak was very nice quality and cooked to perfection. But that is where the experience ended. The accompaniments of mashed potatoes and fresh green beans were lack luster, the beans definitely fresh but not seasoned nor were the potatoes, the only flavor on the plate came from the demi reduction. The pasta was very disappointing, the lump crab linguine ended up being canned meat atop of noodles. My dining companion was very put off by the dish but at $30 for the plate, they thought they should at least try it. Needless to say, we didn't finish either meal and asked for a take away box as to not leave two half eaten meals on the table. We will definitely keep Arms and Embers in mind for breakfast and good service but will steer clear of partaking of other meals.

Main streets are the heartbeat of communities, where commercial and cultural elements combine to create a meeting place for the masses. These districts of commerce offer revived storefronts, warehouses and factories and are fertile grounds for gastropubs, bookstores, microbreweries and boutiques. Grand Ledge's Bridge Street is such a hub, reminiscent of similar commercial centers in DeWitt, Williamston and Old Town or REO Town in Lansing. Arms & Embers Grill, which opened last May and has been under the ownership of Jordan Rivas since October, has situated itself to provide community connections just east of the Grand River along Bridge Street. This New American restaurant and beer bar serves breakfast and supper options and has an interior that's appealing without hitting you over the head with any particular theme. The name comes from the "arms" on the beer taps and the "embers" from the large fireplace that dominates the dining area. The arms serve up several Michigan-made brews and ciders, and while it was too warm outside for a fire, I could tell how welcome the embers would be on a blustery January day. What's OK The Fully Loaded Biscuits & Gravy ($14.50) presented well: creamy sausage gravy ladled atop two soft biscuits, a sunny-side-up egg and potatoes, all topped with bacon lardons and cheddar cheese. If only it tasted as good as it looked. While the biscuits were fluffy, the gravy was devoid of flavor. The side sausage patty ($4) was very flavorful, but the gravy meat somehow missed the mark. My much better half ordered the huevos rancheros ($12.50), and while the serving size was a tad small for the price and the smothered queso topping reminded me of a Super Bowl Crockpot dish, it was better than my meal. The corn tortillas weren't soggy or undercooked, which is an easy mistake to make l, and the Mexican spices were fragrant and enticing. My daughter ordered the Croissant Heaven ($11.50), which was a flaky, buttery success, but the egg was slightly dry, and the sandwich could have benefited from some smoked cheese. A larger croissant would've greatly improved the handheld mechanics, as some of the ingredients were falling out of the sides of the bread. What's really good Arms & Embers does chicken extremely well. The jerk chicken sandwich ($15) and Moroccan chicken sandwich ($15) were well-marinated and juicy, and flavors from both coastal regions were on point. These sandwiches far exceeded my expectations in several ways. The bread on the Moroccan sandwich was so soft and pungent that I thought it was made in-house earlier that day. The bread maintained its firmness against the moderate spread of tzatziki sauce across both sides of the sub. Speaking of tzatziki sauce, I mentioned it was only a moderate helping, which was initially disappointing. However, as the sub slowly disappeared, I realized it was the perfect ratio of sauce that neither disappeared next to the delicious, sliced chicken nor overpowered the sweet grape halves or cleverly tucked arugula sprinkled throughout the sandwich. The jerk sandwich came with a grilled pineapple slice that added another layer of island vibes. The whole chicken breast was served burger style, and my only wish was that it had a bit more heat. The garlic-Parmesan fries ($10) were a light, slender alternative to the usual carb-heavy steak fries that fill you up after several handfuls. They were topped with a tasty combination of minced garlic, chunky Parmesan crumbles and herbs, and they kept calling my name throughout the meal. Best bite It's hard to impress me with restaurant mac and cheese, but Arms & Embers ($12) did just that. It was a cheesy success, with a sauce that was properly gooey without being runny. The smoked gouda was the star, and the fresh green onion on top was a surprisingly delightful accompaniment. The portion size was solid, but it was so good that I still wanted more.

The ambiance of a hometown grill brings the local flavor of the Bridge Street commerce area to life in a cordial yet intimate setting. There is one large screen tv to entertain the masses of sports fans. The food is interesting enough and the portions are large enough to go home fully satisfied with a To-go box at your side.

The food is reasonable but don't order the mini champagnes because the price is outrageous! Comparable to Be York City prices!!

Got there 30 minutes after opening and there was a 45 minute wait. So today we were in the area and thought we would try again. To our disbelief we were sat at a table immediatly. Lucky us, I thought. We first ordered beverages. When the waitress returned, we ordered an appetiser of Arancini to start off and also our main dinners which included soup or salad. We both love arancini and haven't had any since we moved from Florida last October. I will admit we are used to having Sicilian style which usually is filled with rice, saffron, meat and vegetables, like peas. To our surprise the salads came out first. We both ordered a ceaser salad which was over whelmed with parmesan cheese and very little lettuce. The Arancini arrived and there was five perfectly round what tasted like cheese balls. Some white rice with lots of cheese filling laying in a bowl of marinara sauce. We each had one ball. My entree of chicken Marsala arrived with a side of Fettuccine Alfredo. Basically it tasted like chicken with mushroom gravy. Very unappealing. The Alfredo sauce was flat, no flavor. My wife's Penne with Pesto lacked pesto. Tasted good but could of used more Pesto. I just have to say that this was the most lackluster Italian dinner I honestly have ever had. I really just don't understand the high reviews. I guess it wasn't our lucky day.
