This review is just about the food. Got two different sandwiches, fried pork and cuban. They were humongous and definitely hit a spot while hungry. But overall, I think while both sandwiches were so big (sharing portion sized), and there was flavor in pork, as a sandwich I needed more flavor. Maybe some pickle or mustard. Stayed 3 nights in Key Largo. Door dashed some chicken noodle soup, grilled cheese, and flan our first night and then stopped in the next three days for breakfast or lunch. Service was good and they had a steady stream of customers. Coffee was fantastic, bread great, all so good that if we ever make it back to the keys it will definitely be on the itinerary. One star is an over accomplishment. Purely being in their presence, watching them con me and my pregnant friend into paying $160 for beans, rice and plantains for 15 people has actually not only caused a rift in our family dinner, it made us dumber in the process. As stated in Billy Madison, "everyone in this room is now dumber. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul." These people speak perfect English. They also serve terrible food and the wrong food. We learned that our 10 flour tortillas actually cost FOURTY DOLLARS. $40. For 10 tortillas. And to top it off... we get home, and THEY ARE WHITE CORN TORTILLAS. Do NOT come here if you don't speak fluent Spanish. We are locals and got hosed. I can't imagine what tourists endure. read more

Sandwich Cubano please! I promised myself I would try a Sandwich Cubano before I left back to LA. On the way to Key West, me and one other person made a stop here for our first meal of the day. We shared their ginormous Sandwich Cubano ($9) and some Conch Fritters ($8) in their dining area. The sandwich cubano is a pressed Cuban sandwich with chicken, ham, white cheese, and other goods. We each had a half and I couldn't even finish my half because it was so big. It was alright. As for the conch fritters, an order was 4 large pieces. It was served with a red vinegary cocktail sauce. The conch was pretty good. The pricing at this place is pretty good. Other items on the menu included breakfast items, mexican items, other types of sandwiches, meat and seafood plates and desserts. There was a lot of choices and they even had wine and beer. As for service, it was extremely slow. One of the waitresses didn't know English that well. I was trying to ask her questions on what they had and she excused herself to find someone who can speak better English. The process took a VERY long time. The food took FOREVER and the check also took FOREVER. The inside of this place is pretty large. There is an area for pick up and a dining area. The restaurant kinda needs renovation. It has a old vibe to it. I recommend just ordering and picking up. read more

The rabo encendido (oxtail stew) was by far our favorite part of our meal! We didn't even see it on the menu, we googled it from a picture hanging up and WOW. The flan and mojo sauce are also highlights. We sat outside on the patio while eating delicious food and drank Cuban beer while people watching, we are so happy we stopped in. read more

Authentic Cuban Cafe in Key Largo. We came here for breakfast around 8 am and when we left there was a line outside. Their cuban coffee is delicious and a must try if you are in the area. I also recommend their breakfast sandwiches on their fresh cuban bread. The prices are reasonable and staff is very friendly. read more

I hate saying this but now I understand why Starbucks next door had so many people while Dennys cafe had zero customers, and we were the only people there the entire time. The place was pretty clean and cute inside, and menu looked promising. The lady was super friendly at first but her agenda was to recommend anything that cost more so she could collect mandatory 18% tip. She was very pushy and tried her hardest to talk me into ordering something that I didn't want. She was very attentive at first but once we ordered and she brought the food, she never asked if we wanted anything else (I did want some kind of sauce as my omelet was super bland but she was nowhere to be found). We waited forever for our check and we were in a hurry on our way to Key West. Honestly, their coffee was the best part of our dining experience and it wasn't great... The worst part was that everyone in our group who had some kind of meat in their meal had a bad stomachache later. The place has a great potential so hopefully things improve as I would much rather go to unique local places than the chain ones. read more

My husband was in charge of picking places to go and he choose this place. It's a cute hole in the wall. We ordered the Cuban sand which and a side of bacon and 2 coffees. This is the second time I have had a Cuban sandwich and both times the bread is so thick and I am not a big bread girl. They didn't have that much meat but the flavor was good. The side of bacon was huge and was tasty and crispy. Would I come here again no but I'm glad I got to try and support and small business. read more

The Cuban espresso here is great! We came every morning. I wish we would have had time to sit down and eat.

Almost swallowed a 1" piece of steel wire that was inside a guava pastelito on 1/6/24. A sharp piece of steel from a wire brush. Was on my to a gig when I stopped by to grab a cafe con leche and pastelito. Was an inch away from going to the hospital instead of going to the gig, really scary... Otherwise been here 50 times without any problems. Literally takes one small mistake to lose my business forever. read more

Oh my god this is the best Cuban food I have ever had! My husband is Cuban and so his is dad and they recommended we stop here on our way to key west. The Cuban coffee was to die for as well as the Cubano sandwich. It was so perfect from the bread to the cheese to the pickles. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Had the tostones con camarones and the lobster bisque. My husband had the ropa vieja. The tostones were a new thing for me and I loved the flavor but they were a little dry. That may be normal for this dish as this was my first experience. The bisque was wonderful; flavorful with plenty of lobster. My husband describes the ropa vieja as above average but he's had better. The restaurant is divided into two sections. One side is very casual and the other a little more formal. We had great service and a wonderful Chilean Chardonnay. If you are close by and like good coffee, you gotta stop by. We came with a group and they were able to accommodate us easily. They brought us buttered Cuban toast, which was quite good! The pastries are tasty and the breakfast sandwiches are savory! You have to get a coffee though - offered hot or iced. The orange juice is freshly squeezed.
