This place is as authentic as it gets. The food is excellent and the service is matches. Perfect little spot for having true Cuban food. I've been here multiple times and tried most of the menu. I highly recommend the Rabo Encendio (Oxtail).

I've been to this place a few times before for toasted Cuban bread and a pastry, but not for a sandwich. I wanted a Cuban sandwich before I flew home. I didn't want to deal with the parking or crowds of Miami. The sandwich was very good. I think the Cubans in Miami might be pressed harder and slightly crunchier bread but other than that, this sandwich was perfect. Some places don't use shredded pork, but this place does and it was not dry. I wish they threw some of those potato sticks on there, but that's no big deal, since the sandwich is huge. I sat inside because I wanted to sit and relax. Nice artwork on the walls.

This is always our first stop after flying into the Keys--no exceptions. There are so many must-tries here. If it's your first visit, start with the ropa vieja, the masita de puerco, or their Cuban sandwich--pressed perfectly, loaded with flavor, and absolutely worth the hype. You really can't go wrong. On my last visit, I tried El Jefe--think of it as a wrap stuffed with rice, black beans, chicken or pork, and platanitos. Trust me, you'll thank me later. And whatever you do, put their homemade mojo on everything. It's so good I buy bottles to take home. This little gem never disappoints: great service, incredible food, and a nostalgic vibe that just hits right every time.

Easiest 5 stars I have ever awarded. Food - Amazing. Best Cubano since I was at tge Miami docks years ago. Service - Perfect. Attentive, no nonsense, like it should be. Ambience - Great paintings and odes to the island and people of Cuba. Nicely done.

3.5/5 Stopped here on my way to Key West during the holidays as I wanted to try Cuban food, and I was told Key Largo is an excellent place for lots of Cuban places. My party of 5 arrived around 2:30pm due to delays leaving Miami. It was moderately busy, but everyone emptied out as we were dining. Again, I'm not acclimated to Cuban food, and therefore was looking for assistance on what to order. To my surprise given the reviews here, the service I received was poor. My party asked some questions to clarify some menu items, and my server gave answers along the lines of "can you read the menu?". Yes, but what is yuca? What's the difference between mixed rice and white rice? It took an unusual amount of effort to get answers for some of the food items. As for the food, yes it was delicious. Most of us ordered the ox tail. It's not a style that we're used to, but there was very good flavour and it was slow cooked well. Another person ordered the mahi mahi. Decent, as he told me. Given the reviews here perhaps it was a one off experience, and honestly the food was good. I think a 3.5 star review therefore is fair for this place.

Denny's in key largo is a must visit. It feels like a locals cafe, good friendly staff, and the food is amazing. We ordered the breakfast burrito and it was so much food but with how delicious it was it all for ate! Definitely check them out if you're in the area.

Great Cuban food made to order. The staff is very nice and quick service too. Today we ordered the Eggs on a Horse (huevos a caballo) and a huge breakfast burrito stuffed with eggs, cheese, and potatoes. For the perfect treat order a cortadito with evaporated milk.

I was dying for a Cubana sandwich on my drive down from Miami to Key West. Yelp rated this place as a four star so I stopped and got the sandwich I was hoping for. It took about 15 minutes to be served and it was outstanding. The pork was lean. The pickles were crisp and the bread was as expected. Great place to stop for a sandwich. You can't go wrong here.

Cuban Cafe. Great breakfast spot close to the Marriott. Two cafe con leches and orders of egg and ham sandwich along with scrambled eggs and home fries. Really hit the spot. Great wait staff as well.

Solid spot to stop for lunch! My husband and I both ordered the Cuban sandwich. My husband said it was the best Cuban sandwich he ever had, but mine was a little dry. Was still good though. Service was good

Five stars, and I want to explain this properly because High Tide in Key Largo is absolutely a…read moreplace people should experience at least once. This is one of those spots that immediately tells you it's a local favorite the second you walk in. It feels homey, lived in, and deeply rooted in the community. The average crowd definitely skews older, which honestly just shows how loyal the regulars are and how long this place has been doing something right. We stood for a minute or two when we arrived, which wasn't a problem at all, but the initial interaction felt a little abrupt. Nothing hostile, just very direct and urgent. We later found out that Cathy is the owner, and it became clear very quickly that this place is her whole world. She works hard, moves fast, and runs on urgency. That energy can sometimes come off sharp, especially to visitors who aren't used to that local, no frills style, but we gave her the benefit of the doubt. There were moments throughout our visit where the tone felt a little rough around the edges, and it wasn't just with us, we noticed it with other tables too. It didn't feel personal, more like someone who is stretched thin and running on fumes. To her credit, there were moments where she self corrected, and I genuinely believe this was just a long day rather than bad intentions. Running a place like this day in and day out is not easy, and you can feel how much effort goes into keeping it moving. This review isn't meant to tear anyone down, just to be honest for future guests so they know what to expect walking in. What truly changed our entire experience and pushed this from a four star visit to a solid five was our server. Her name started with a T, she wore glasses, and she was African American, and she was an absolute blessing. She treated us with warmth, patience, and genuine care, like we were family she was looking out for. When we sat down and the table needed to be wiped, she handled it gracefully without a single awkward moment. Everything she did felt intentional and kind. She was attentive without hovering, respectful, and genuinely happy to be doing her job. There was also a sweet older Latina woman clearing tables who was just as lovely and welcoming. It became very clear that despite the different personalities, this place functions as a team, and the heart of High Tide lives in the people who treat guests with care and humanity. If you get that server whose name starts with a T, you are in excellent hands. Now let's talk about the food, because this is where High Tide really shines. The hash brown casserole is a straight ten out of ten. No exaggeration. Comfort food perfection. Crispy, savory, and absolutely worth ordering. The country style platter we ordered was also a ten according to my friend, hearty and satisfying in the best way. The lobster benedict was good, I would give it about an eight. It's a fun, unique option if you want to try something different, but not the standout compared to the rest of the menu. And then there's the real star of the show, the Key lime pie. Even if you are not hungry, come for the pie. This is hands down the best Key lime pie I have ever had. Perfectly balanced, not overly tart, smooth and almost cheesecake like in texture. It's the kind of dessert that makes you pause after the first bite because it's that good. Beautifully presented too. The decor is charming and thoughtfully cluttered in a way that feels authentic, not staged. The bathrooms are old but very clean. Parking is a little quirky but manageable, and there is parking available if you're patient. Overall, the vibe is cozy, memorable, and unmistakably local. Would I come back? Absolutely, especially for the food and that pie. Cathy, you are clearly working your ass off, and I hope this was just a rough day. This review comes with honesty and flowers, not shade. Five stars for the food, the heart, and the people who make this place what it is. I do recommend it.

Update: went back on last day - just as good. Our son got the same meal (country breakfast); I went a little off menu and elected to have chorizo on the side rather than bacon/sausage. The prices on the menu are pretty reasonable. I was going to order the bagel and lox for $16 but then I saw that the lobster Benedict was also $16, so I ordered that instead. I was disappointed though because the "hash browns" on the side were not the homemade kind, but a frozen deep fried cake. I was also disappointed to find that the "lobster" was actually a breaded deep fried mixture, like a crab cake. I intentionally did not order the crab cake Benedict because I don't like that kind of thing. My daughter ordered the breakfast sandwich with bacon and Swiss cheese. It was good, and pretty big, so she could barely eat half of it. There is a nice view of the water from the restaurant. The parking lot is pretty small. I'd probably try a different restaurant if I'm back in the area.

The first bite of the pancake tasted burnt, and we thought, ah well, it happens, maybe a bit too long on the griddle. It quickly became apparent that something was wrong in the dish. There was a flavor that was just WRONG. Almost as if they cooked in melted plastic, or made the dishes on a nonstick that was peeling its nonstick off as it cooked. The disgusting taste was strongest in the eggs florentine, then the pancakes, and then the French toast. There was one fried egg that I had that was largely unaffected, and of course the parfait. I did want to point out that the parfait was billed as Greek yogurt, but it really seemed like regular vanilla yogurt. However, given the other issues, this wasn't a problem. I will say, the service was very pleasant. Our server was brand new, so I felt bad having to tell her about the meal, but she handled it well. She called the manager over, who did comp us the meal, and we left a tip for our server. This is the only reason I'm leaving 2 stars instead of 1. The chef never came out to talk with us though, which I did find strange. Needless to say, we didn't go back. We were too afraid to do so, as we had no idea what was wrong with the food.
