Went for taco Tuesday. Saw the menu has changed. Everything sounds good. I will need to go back to try some other things. You buy 3 tacos and get 3 free of the same kind. MUST EAT HERE!! Just left this restaurant and as a chef myself, absolutely LOVE IT! It's authentic Cuban cuisine. I had a party of 3 with a toddler we all ordered something different and everything was delicious! Even my son who's a picky eater absolutely loved his chicken tenders. Midnight Sandwich and Cuban Sandwiches were finger licking good. Hubby got the Masitas de puerco with rice black beans and maduros and he cleaned that plate! My mom and I popped in here for lunch a bit ago. We got in there just before the lunch rush, so the wait wasn't so bad and we managed to get a table without issue. Once we were seated we went over the menu. My mom went for a Cuban sandwich, which I can see is this place's big seller. However, I am not a fan of the Cuban sandwich as I don't like pickles or mustard on a sandwich, and I am also not a huge fan of Swiss cheese. When three of the four ingredients on a sandwich are things that you don't like, it kind of makes the sandwich something that you don't order. So I went for a Club sandwich. Sadly, that is not what I got. I got a weird bastardized version of the Club sandwich which was mostly a Cuban sandwich, but with chips on the plate. The mustard was there, the swiss cheese was there, the pickles were there. The tomato, lettuce, turkey, etc. were not there. Obviously they had not gotten the order right... or they have no idea how to make a Club sandwich despite it being on the menu. I was able to eat it, once I had yanked the pickled off and scraped off most of the mustard, but I would really have liked what I had ordered instead. If you want a Cuban sandwich, this is the place to go. If you want something else... be wary. One of the things about this place is that the method of payment is not well defined. When you order to go from the front counter it is obvious, but when you sit down and order, have the food brought to you, and then eat it, the process is to get up and pay at the front counter as you walk out, which is not how most restaurants work here. Is it weird that a place in the keys had THE BEST cuban tostada I've ever had??!!?? - I was honestly in shock. The bread was perfectly baked and had the most perfect butter ratio. As cuban tostada eaters know, this is very important! Haha. They had a breakfast special for $3 - 2 eggs, bacon/ham/sausage, toast, and cafe con leche. You seriously can't beat that. Reason for 3 stars - it's a window order type of place, but the service was excessively slow. The silverware comes in a plastic bag, but there was hard food stuck to the fork. Ew. Understated and underrated but wow this spot is excellent. The cortadito coffee made my mornings and they have a high quality menu to choose from. I had the cubano (which I've tried more than a few) and it was delicious. Perfect bread and balance of pork to ham to cheese. The service was tops and very helpful. Loved this place; came here after a long day of diving next door (shout to SailFish!) and this was walking distance and the promise of delicious, inexpensive Cuban food kept us excited. My wife enjoyed a pineapple juice and I got myself wired with a cortadito + cuban coffee. We shared one plate with plantains, rice, pulled pork and a tamale filled with pork. OMG, these tamales were heaven. The cornmeal was exquisite, soft, crumbly and delicious with the filling. Add a little hot sauce for extra kick. The pork was incredibly tender and delicious and the plantains were nice and sweet. The cuban coffee was strong, the only thing we missed was the baked dessert options, but only because we were already full to the brim! You can't beat the $2.99 ($3.99 after 10am) breakfast special - 2 scrambled eggs, choice of bacon/sausage/ham, Cuban toast, and Café con Leche. They always have lunch because it's such a popular spot for workers to snag breakfast and a to-go lunch. There's an outdoor window for quick drinks and espresso, and a hot bar with some of that delicious slow cooked Cuban goodness. And the juices, are part of its name. On the way to a Scuba trip in the Keys we decided that we needed a snack, plus we needed to kill a few minutes as we were somewhat early. Since I was driving I had Steven whip out his yelp app and asked him to look up sandwiches. He pulled up some chains and sit down restaurants and then searched "smoothies". The Juice House came up immediately and it sounded perfect for us, and happened to be walking distance from where the scuba spot was!
