    Cuban coffee 10/7/21

This is a great lunch spot for legit Cuban food! We stop here in between scuba diving with sailfish. They have great daily specials, fresh juices, empanadas, and more. If you like Cuban food than you'll like this spot! The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is they didn't give me my tostones and I didn't have time to go back and get them.

Love their Cuban Coffee. We walked here every morning for it. Christina who is at cash register is a doll. We enjoyed her service. So personable and sweet. She had us come back for lunch to try Cuban sandwich. Huge! Large enough for me and hubby to share. The Mayo, mustard and pickles on it, delish. We look forward to Coming back in the future. This is a very popular place. You can tell with so many locals. Not expensive either. Cuban sandwich came with free soda. About $10. There are a few seats outside along the wall. Open 5am -3p

The Cuban sandwich is delicious!! Breakfast sandwiches as well and their Cuban coffee with no sugar is the best!! Price is very decent.

Eggs & Sausage - i know, it looks a little sad.

Is it weird that a place in the keys had THE BEST cuban tostada I've ever had??!!?? - I was honestly in shock. The bread was perfectly baked and had the most perfect butter ratio. As cuban tostada eaters know, this is very important! Haha. They had a breakfast special for $3 - 2 eggs, bacon/ham/sausage, toast, and cafe con leche. You seriously can't beat that. Reason for 3 stars - it's a window order type of place, but the service was excessively slow. The silverware comes in a plastic bag, but there was hard food stuck to the fork. Ew. The place doesn't feel clean. But that bread thooooo - it might have made up for it a bit.

Huge portions, great quality. Some of the best Cuban sandwich's you can eat. Would highly recommend it.

Elite modern review:…read more Very modern and trendy place to be. Perfect for young adults and college crowds looking to have a great time. The music was on point, creating an energetic vibe all night. The bar setup was amazing, fast service and great drinks. Overall, a fun atmosphere with good energy, stylish crowd, and a place I would definitely come back to.

It is a little tricky to find it, once you find the parking lot, it is super confusing as to where you enter. There are two floors and multiple doors. Finally someone directed us up the stairs and to the back of the building. We were greeted and given menus fairly quickly, but it took an extraordinarily long time to get our food that day. The hollandaise sauce was atypical as it tasted like there was cheese in it. The smoked salmon on a bagel tasted okay, but fell apart when it was picked up. The breakfast burrito lacked a lot of flavor. The blueberry pancake, although slightly overcooked, was actually very good. The bacon and fried potatoes were not crisp, as I prefer them. So if you like crispy bacon and fried potatoes, ask for that when placing your order. The windows and floors are dirty and the women's bathroom had a round hole with a dirty sock stuck in it on the floor. I actually tripped over it. And the bathroom could have been much cleaner. With a few improvements, Sharkeys could be more appealing to tourists going through and visiting the Keys.

At the recommendation of friends, our Day 1 Supper was at Mrs. Mac's Kitchen II (also called Mrs…read more Mac's Kitchen (Big) on Google Maps). Having arrived at 4:30pm, we were immediately shown to a table and informed about the happy hour specials. Not normally ones to drink much on vacation, my wife and I instead opted to live in the moment and enjoy the island life, especially since it was 30 degrees when we left Ohio that morning. As such, we each ordered a rum punch (pictured), while my best friend ordered a Bulliet old fashioned and his wife a house margarita. With drink orders out of the way, Deja, our absolutely delightful waitress, took our food orders: sauteed seafood combo (for my wife), backyard BBQ burger with coleslaw (for me), burger and fries (for my BFF and his wife, who -unlike us- were smart enough to save room for dessert). While waiting for our meals, we took in the ambiance of the restaurant, and wow was there a lot to take in! First off, we loved how the old Pizza Hut building had been repurposed and transformed into the embodiment of the tropical island lifestyle. From the display tables showcasing seashells and historic Florida Keys photos, to the license plate light fixtures, to the ceiling-mounted blue sky and clouds panels, to the fish hanging in front of each distinctively Pizza Hut trapezoidal window, we loved it all! When our food arrived, it looked fantastic and tasted even better. My wife described her seafood combo as being excellent, with the Caribbean lobster "almost as good as the ones we get in Maine." Likewise, her fish was fresh and delicious, while the shrimp were succulent. My burger was cooked to a perfect medium-rare and was topped with expertly caramelized onions and bacon with just the right amount of crispness to it. My coleslaw side was also excellent, with the perfect balance of creaminess and zing. Our friends also said their burger and shoestring fries were fantastic. To round out our meal, each of the four of us ordered pieces of Key Lime Pie, which was some of the best I have ever had in my life (and I have eaten a lot of Key Lime Pies!)! Throughout our meal, Deja checked on us often without being overbearing, and kept the drinks flowing. All told, for 5 drinks, 3 entrées with sides, and 4 slices of Key Lime Pie, our bill before tax, tip, and credit card surcharge was $163.93. Considering the excellent food and outstanding service we received, the four of us universally agreed it was well worth the price! Pros: outstanding service, fantastic flavours, great atmosphere, and the 2-for-1 drinks during happy hour were a great deal! Cons: none! Overall we rate Mrs. Mac's Kitchen as being Excellent and cannot wait to go back!

Friendly, but talked a little too much and didn't write anything down, so kept forgetting things. The Ugly: Unsure about the entire restaurant, but our table was dirty. Like old dirty. Not like, they didn't wipe it down, but more like it had never seen a deep clean and stuff just kept accumulating. I had the shrimp and corn chowder. It was very watery. We enjoyed the desserts. I'm not sure if I would come back though. I'm just wondering if the whole restaurant is dirty like our table.

Update: went back on last day - just as good. Our son got the same meal (country breakfast); I went a little off menu and elected to have chorizo on the side rather than bacon/sausage. The prices on the menu are pretty reasonable. I was going to order the bagel and lox for $16 but then I saw that the lobster Benedict was also $16, so I ordered that instead. I was disappointed though because the "hash browns" on the side were not the homemade kind, but a frozen deep fried cake. I was also disappointed to find that the "lobster" was actually a breaded deep fried mixture, like a crab cake. I intentionally did not order the crab cake Benedict because I don't like that kind of thing. My daughter ordered the breakfast sandwich with bacon and Swiss cheese. It was good, and pretty big, so she could barely eat half of it. There is a nice view of the water from the restaurant. The parking lot is pretty small. I'd probably try a different restaurant if I'm back in the area.
