On the way to Pfeifer Falls Trail at Big Sur, we wanted to have some breakfast before climbing up the trail. We found this one on the way and we stopped by. It's on one way street which we didn't know it has a parking lot so we parked on the street because we don't want to u-turn if we missed the parking lot. Anyhow, the restaurant is nice and clean, also showed its age a little. We're seated right away, the server was extremely attentive and pleasant, wonderful. We love the superslam from Denny's the last time we tried after years of missing it. We both ordered the superslam as usual, everything came out perfectly cooked. We're quite happy. The hash browns were our favorite because we can't make them, always crispy outside and moist inside. The butter pan cakes, the crispy bacons, the sausages and scrambled eggs were excellent. A perfect breakfast before a hike. Denny's now is our official breakfast restaurant LOL. read more

I ordered eggs, with sausage, hashbrowns, and pancakes to go. The eggs were cooked perfectly (over medium). The hashbrowns were browned well and good. The sausage was almost inedible -- the quality is awful. It tastes like you are just eating fat with no flavor. The pancakes were alright. I'm giving three stars because the service was very quick. I have eaten here for several years , always during the Sea Otter Classic. In the past (3 years and before ) the service was weak. But at least for the past 3 years this team has been incredible. The place is clean, and service is fast. They hustle and are very friendly. It's turned into a joy to eat here. And the taste is as I expected. Whatever the owner does, do NOT get rid of this staff. If you want general maintenance to be done while you're eating a stack of pancakes come here. We were enjoying our last day in Monterey and we see a man spray painting door handles while we eat. The air flow was coming to our table. So yeah, my two small kids were getting high with spray paint while they enjoyed their grand slams. Worst Denny's ever. And that's saying more than I can bear to realize. The food was on-par for Denny's, but the service seemed embedded with ethnic tension, as the staff seemed unconcerned about English-speaking patrons. I can only guess that's why we felt discomfort with the atmosphere. Our food server was happily chatting with his co-workers, while we sat, ten feet away, waiting for fifteen minutes for him to initially greet us. Honestly, I never would have guessed he was our food server, because he was so idle and disengaged, I assumed he was on a break. The conditions might remind one of a classic diner, but, in reality, more of a greasy spoon. The door to the kitchen was layered with visible dirt and grime. So all that downtime and there's no standing order to clean? The bus seemed busy, but overtasked, so I put no shame on him. The hostess and a few servers were appropriately courteous, so, there's hope. Consider this review only for this, my first, visit. Once we were seated we waited over 5 minutes and no one came by to even give us water, while people who came in after had coffee and hot chocolate. We ended up leaving. Im the type of person to give places with bad reviews a chance so i did this one and biggest regret ever. i ordered the buffalo wings with onion rings. onion rings cold and burnt. "buffalo wings" they were popcorn chicken with the buffalo as a side in a ranch container. i bought the spaghetti with fries and suppose to come with bread but i didnt get any bread. i got OLD STINKY cheese and they put the marina sauce with my side of fries and made them soggy. not to mention it was a curbside pickup. i called them once i arrived and the man told me to pull up as i am leaving the restaurant because he didnt want to walk 10 feet. ridiculous. will not be coming back. read more

They were completely under staffed the waitress was ringing people and sitting people while food sat under the warmers for at least 10 Min. We waited an hour for our food.
