Lala's has become one of those places where I already know half my order before I sit down. The blue cheese steak bites are rich, savory little bites of trouble, the ahi tuna is always a favorite, and the skirt steak with chimichurri has that perfect bright, garlicky punch. I've also done the steak with bacon-wrapped shrimp because apparently I believe steak needs a side of more steak-adjacent indulgence. But the bread pudding deserves its own paragraph. Warm, decadent, and absolutely worth pretending you "still have room" for dessert. Now, cocktails. My absolute favorite is the poblano margarita -- just enough peppery kick to make it interesting without setting your mouth on fire. I'm also a Paloma girl, and Alyssa and Radiance know their way around a cocktail shaker. Both make fantastic drinks, are absolute sweethearts, and always take great care of us. The place itself is huge and nicely spread out, with indoor and outdoor seating, a large bar, roomy booths, and plenty of space whether you're grabbing drinks for two or showing up with the whole crew. And apparently I've committed a Lala's crime by never ordering the Brussels sprouts because my friend swears by them. Fine. They're next. Beautiful Saturday morning & I decided to join a friend at Lalla Grill at the Del Monte Mall. Good conversation, good company, immediate seating in a comfy booth near the bar, and really good service from start to finish. Our server was a gem... don't know her name, but she represented the restaurant well. The busser, cashier, & manager were equally exceptional and truly understand customer service. My friend ordered Mexican Lentil Soup & found it very flavorful with the right amount of seasoning. It was served hot and the temp remained constant as she ate it. We both had decaf coffee with cream. Yummy, made fresh pour-over style and hot! Perfect. I had Lemon Ricotta Pancakes with Fresh Fruit (no maple syrup needed as the pancakes were also perfectly flavored!). The brunch menu offers good selections with good prices for the quality. There's alot of space here for intimate meals, fun at the bar with friends, patio seating, or event space rental. With a movie theater & mall shopping just steps away, the location is perfect. Parking is ample, but I like to park at one end of the mall & earn my brunch with a nice walk to the opposite end (and back). read more

Kalem seated us and was our server. He was kind and attentive. In fact, he was so on top of it that he didn't even need to come back to the table to ask if we needed any to-go containers. He saw me with half a sandwich on my plate and came over with a box. They were very accommodating and put cheddar on my sandwich instead of American cheese. Also, Kalem checked on a dessert for me to ensure I wouldn't ingest any of my food allergies. The breakfast potatoes were wonderful. Not too bland nor were they over-seasoned. My husband said his French dip was nice and juicy, not dry and it was filling, too. Our child said the fritatta wasn't VERY flavorful but that the ingredients were good and overall it was enjoyable. As for my bacon egg and cheese sandwich, it was a bit bland, too, but very large and also filling. Like I already said, the potatoes were great!!! Despite all 3 of us feeling pretty full, we ordered and enjoyed dessert together. Even though I didn't order any alcohol, I really loved their wall of bottles. Stopped by for lunch after landing in Monterey. Ambiance is really cute with a cool little patio to dine in. The menu had a lot of selections that seemed appetizing but I settled on the steak sandwich. Food was pretty good. I had the Moroccan gnt which was pretty good although having cracked black pepper in the drink made it a bit difficult to drink. I eat at this restaurant at least twice a month and often every week and in the last seven days I have eaten there three times. Absolutely one of my very favorite restaurants on the Peninsula. You can find any type of food there and it is always excellent. Today I was there and I had a waiter I had never had before by the name of Diego. He was pretty impressive. His service was impeccable, but one of the things that really impressed me was the fact that he asked if we had any allergies. Never been asked that there before and it's a great idea. Beautiful scenery and decoration, I sat by the outdoor fireplace and really liked the real planter boxes lining the walls as it gave a warm touch, they even decorated my drink with a beautiful edible flower. There was also a few staff members hanging out and eating a couple tables down from us. The food I hoped would've been better for the price but it was basic. The Fish & Chips wasn't anything spectacular, the steak was a bit tough and the Shrimp Scampi Pasta has some tiny shrimps that were soft and mushy. The best dish we had was the Calamari appetizer. Does shopping make you hungry? It does for us. While doing our holiday shopping at Monterey's Del Monte Center mall, my friend and I popped into Lalla Grill to fuel up with some delicious eats. It's a really cool lunch spot with a great atmosphere. We opted for a table inside. Our indoor table overlooked the patio, which had plenty of tables, a fire pit, and some beautiful green plants. The menu here has enough options to satisfy even the pickiest eaters. Pastas, salads, burgers, soups, seafood, steaks, sandwiches, and a good assortment of starters. Perusing the starters, we decided to go with an assortment of small bites. We ordered the Spicy Thai Wings - A large portion of Thai spice-marinated chicken wings with an orange glaze. Wow! So delicious. These are addictive. The spiciness was perfect - a good amount of heat without having to call the fire department. We also ordered the Ahi Poke Ceviche, which, although good, could use some improvement. I wouldn't call it Ceviche - it was more like a guacamole with some Ahi Tuna and lettuce mixed in. It was served with wonton chips, which fell apart the minute we dipped them into the pile of avocado & fish. Overall, the flavor of the dish was tasty, but serving the dish with the delicate wonton chips failed in its intended execution. We ended up sprinkling the wonton pieces over the Poke. Still delicious, though. And finally, are you sitting down?....Blue Cheese Steak Bites! Yep, you read that right. OMG, these are to die for. Little pieces of steak stuffed with blue cheese, wrapped in bacon, and drizzled with honey mustard. Heaven on a plate! OK - that's the food. Service was great. Atmosphere was chill. The cocktails were inspired. We were there mid-week, and parking at this mall was easy. If you're at Del Monte Center in Monterey, I highly recommend Lalla Grill. They have another location downtown, too, if you're out and about on Cannery Row. read more

This place is huge, they play very lively music and is decorated in a modern and hip place. It was very busy, but we're still able to get a table within the estimated 15min window of time. Unfortunately, the food is as underwhelming. I was very put off by the giant plates that came to the table. I was served a pile of salad that was no better than what you'd get at an apple bees. The best part of my visit was the Moroccan G&T I had. I enjoyed the mint in it, but I was very annoyed y the peppercorns in it as a garnish. A few times I ended up chewing on them or swallowing them -Find a better garnish! The servers were friendly, but when I go out to eat I go for the food and based on my experience I wouldn't come back for that. read more

First time eating here, I ordered the birria quesadilla as a starter. I was a little nervous about it since I make birria and had birria in Mexico and San Diego which taste authentic and delicious. I'm very picky with Mexican food, which is why I rarely l eat at Mexican restaurants, they usually disappoint. I was happily surprised how on point the meat was, cooked to perfection, the birria sauce a little salty but very tasty. The best part was how the taco were perfectly crunchy and still soft in the middle. Thank you Lalla for a delicious dinner. I was so happy I couldn't eat anything else. Service was a little slower but it was a Saturday at lunchtime and the staff were very nice. We ordered a pomegranate limeade, pasta al limone, black bean burger, and birria burger. The drink was yummy and refreshing! The pasta was a bit overly cheesy but I really liked the lemon flavor. The black bean and birria burgers were both delicious, very well made! I wanted to update this review since it had been a few years. I like going to this restaurant which is attached to the Del Monte mall. They have a very nice heated outdoor patio that is dog-friendly. This time I tried the California club sandwich and it was really good and I like how you could get it with a side salad instead of fries. The sandwich itself was on sourdough bread and it was a really delicious combination. The only thing that we did notice is they no longer offer fresh-made potato chips when you sit down which is disappointing. Bring back the potato chips! read more

This is the 2nd time we've dined here with our little dog. One member of our party checked in at the front, and the rest of our party and our dog entered through the patio gate, we were seated immediately. It was dinner time and all of the patio heaters were on, so it was nice and comfortable. There is a small cart with a water dispenser for your dog, and they also offered milk bone treats. Food: we ordered the: Ahi Tuna Ceviche - delicious!; French Dip Sandwich with sweet potato fries - the beef was dry but the Au jus was good and they gave me plenty for dipping; NY Steak & Frites, medium rare - the steak came out to the medium rare of our liking, and the fries were plentiful.
