    Veggie omelette with herb potatoes
    Heather M.

When In Monterey and about to hit an all day EDM festival at the fairgrounds... load up at this hidden gem. Del Monte Grill and Cafe! A dinner that serves breakfast and lunch ALL DAY! Service is friendly and fast. Enjoyed the veggie omelette (made with egg whites) stuffed with spinach, mushrooms, cheese, broccoli and topped with avocado. The herb potatoes are killer and I love a good buttery toast. Washed it down with sparkling wine (sorry beer and wine only here)

So this restaurant is nestled in a Travelodge Inn, it's hard to see off of the street, even with gps. Coming into the restaurant, it has a cavernous feeling, with a huge waiting area. Coming in during lunch, I was seated right away. They have the usual diner fare. It did have a very local/family-friendly atmosphere. They do have high-chairs for the kiddos and the unisex bathrooms weren't the cleanest. As for the food, I had the American platter. It was delicious. The country potatoes were seasoned well, and they had that crispy on the outside- soft on the inside thing going on! The eggs were cooked perfectly and the meat was juicy. It felt like the cooks put a lot of effort in the meals they prepare. It does feel a little pricey for what I got though I'd definitely go back. Price: $25 (includes 20% tip)

A staple in my family!! I've came here various times with my family and friends, and have always enjoyed my meal. In the past I have ordered waffles or the classic American breakfast and even there Huevos rancheros, along with your hot chocolate. They have usually also been very busy in the past in which wait time can vary. Servers have always been attentive and very friendly. On this particular day, I had ordered the Huevos Rancheros, and came with my boyfriend and our friend. We actually had all ordered the same thing. They were good, but nothing out of this world. Definitely not your traditional Huevos Rancheros, but they were tasty. Before they were located in a different part of Seaside, but now can be found right next to the Travel lodge in Monterey . Can definitely agree that the space is much larger than their last, as it also has little to no decoration. Can definitely use a makeover to help attract new & returning customers.

The food was all pretty decent. The huevos rancheros were DELICIOUS! The coffee was very weak and I relayed this to my server who right away brewed another pot. They were very busy and the one server was working hard to make sure everyone was well taken care of :)

Combo with pancakes, eggs, and potatoes instead of bacon

Totally unassuming old school diner, but the food was on point. I was greeted and seated right away, sat on the patio with my dog. It's shady and there's glass between your seat and the sidewalk, but the noisy busy street was the only real negative here. I got a basic combo, with 2 eggs (scrambled with $1 cheese), pancakes, and had no problem getting breakfast potatoes instead of bacon/sausage. The eggs had a bit too much cheese for my liking, but got my dollar's worth. The eggs were cooked perfectly though. The potatoes were fresh, soft, and had a delicious seasoning. The pancakes were big, light and fluffy. Everything hit the spot. Not too pricey. Attentive service. Easy street parking. Will definitely return.

They have both indoor and outdoor eating, which was nice and dog- friendly, but still felt separate and protected from the busy street and wind. Service was friendly and quick. They required masks indoors and outdoors while not eating or at least when interacting with servers/hosts, which I can totally appreciate. Food came pretty quickly and was a perfect breakfast! Pancakes and hash browns came out first and were fantastic - although I prefer my hash browns just a little crispier...but still good! Hubs ordered All-American breakfast with pancakes, eggs, hash browns and bacon - nice, big servings. Admittedly, I ate a small portion of his hash browns and they were so scrumptious! I ordered the Waffle with strawberries and bananas and just a few blueberries! Omgoodness! Heavenly! It was topped with a generous serving of fresh, perfectly ripe fruit, fluffy whip cream and sprinkled with just the right amount of cinnamon! Wow! So good! I just lightly added some syrup and it was just amazing! I had to share...it was too good not to give everyone just a taste of this! I think even our server was surprised by how quickly we gobbled it all down! Lol! My husband was too quick and I didn't even get a picture! We would definitely go back! And suggest you try it if you haven't had the pleasure of eating there yet!!

A happy accident - we were on the way to a different restaurant for breakfast that had a 72-104 minute wait at 10:30 am on a Sunday. We found this place nearby on Yelp and it turned out to be a good choice. We were seated outside immediately, ordered one decaf and one regular coffee and two OJs for the kids. Prompt service. They had good flavored creamers on the table too. The food was really good. My partner got the chorizo burrito special and it was two tortillas rolled up. He didn't love that the salsa had mangoes in it, only complaint. My huevos rancheros was so good, the beans and ranchero sauce was so flavorful and really made this the best dish I ate all weekend. Highly recommend.

This restaurant recently moved from its original location. Breakfast menu looks to be the same , and there seems to be more options for alcohol, including mimosas. Ambiance seemed a little fancy for breakfast / lunch , but it's still pleasant. Servers were attentive , and welcoming. My New York steak and eggs were tasty, and the steak was cooked just right.

This place is a hidden gem. Waffle was perfect, breakfast potatoes were so yum and you have to try their pico de gallo My boyfriend had the chicken fried steak and said the crust were crispy and tasty as well were the hashbrowns. So glad we found another breakfast spot close to home. Definitely worth a try if you haven't been before. We'll be back.

Chef's Salad ordered to go. I added quarter for scale.

If you read my…read moreother reviews, you'll see that I reside in the Central Valley, which is pretty far from Monterey, but not too far. I came for a little vacation from the heat, which is definitely necessary because it gets pretty toasty in the Fresno area. I think it's all the roads and stuff. I wouldn't know, I'm not a scientist. To continue what I was saying, I came to Monterey for a little vacation! Usually I'd go eat at a little spot at a mall called Island Burger, but to my surprise, the place was permanently closed! Can you believe it? I couldn't. Because the Island Burger was closed, I decided to go elsewhere for a burger. I checked online to see what folks were saying about this place, and it seemed like everybody had mostly positive things to say. So I went and ate there! When I walked in I noticed it was one of those spots where you just kinda put in your order and sit down and wait. So that's what I did. I got the spicy burger, but I can't remember the name of it. I also got some onion rings and chicken wings. I'd like to mention that I was with my family so we could share those items. I could theoretically eat all of that myself, but that'd be a bit greedy. The burger was great and it had a good amount of spice. The meat was juicy and nicely seasoned, and the fries were perfectly crispy. The onion rings had a delicious batter, and were fried to perfection. The chicken wings really surprised me! I would go as far as to say that they were on par with, and maybe even better than Wingstop. Overall, the service was great and quick, the food was immaculate, and I would absolutely recommend this spot to anybody who is in the area. The bathrooms are nice too. I forgot to mention that. Good bathrooms are very important.

Her burger was basic, nothing memorable and the lack of a seeded bun was a bit disappointing (3.5/5). The Sur Brighton was FANTASTIC! The fish was so soft and buttery, the batter, like the fries, was fried to absolute perfection! It was so crispy on the outside and it was served with big slices of lemon (4.9/5) and a pretty tasty tartar sauce (3.8/5). Overall, I rate this place a 4/5!

The sesame seed bun was soft, produce was fresh, cheese perfectly melted, and the patty was well-seasoned and decently juicy. That said, it needed more sauce and overall juiciness to really push it over the top. A little extra flavor punch would've made a big difference. The Elvis Burger (7.5/10) was similar: solid but not exceptional. It lacked the seasoning and moisture I was hoping for, and once again, more sauce would have helped bring everything together. Nothing bad, just left me wanting a bit more oomph. Now the good stuff, service and ambiance were excellent. Our server was friendly, upbeat, and genuinely seemed happy to be there, which made the whole experience better. The vibe of the place is awesome: retro '80s burger joint feel with fun music, books, games, and lots of greenery (major shoutout to the plants). When we arrived they had a small parking lot but busy because they do a lot of Door Dash and Uber Eats business. Once inside I took a quick look at the menu and saw they had breakfast burritos of either Chorizo-Sausage-Ham-Bacon or Veggie. I chose Chorizo breakfast burrito($10.39) The shop is run by the owner-he was the cashier and the cook. In talking to him,he was telling me that his family owns multiple Mexican small shops like this in the Juarez Mexico area and El Paso Texas area.Says that all the shops use the same recipe for their hot sauce that is served with the burritos. Once the burrito arrived,it was both heavy and warm.Once I cut it open,I was able to appreciate the craftsmanship of this burrito in all its chorizo, egg, potato and cheese glory-it was beautiful. As pretty as it was though,it tasted even better,I had planned on only eating half of it as I had a tee time in less than an hour but one bite led to another and then it was gone. I've had many breakfast burritos in my day and as unexpected as this is to say, this may have been the best breakfast burrito I've ever had. Also the aforementioned family-recipe hot sauce that came with the burrito was so spicy yet so tasty--perfect combo to a perfect burrito. Our server, Michael J., did a great job of greeting us, providing menus, and taking initial drink orders while we decided what to try. We decided to try BBQ honey wings, fried artichoke hearts, and onion rings for appetizers. The main courses were two orders of kids' cheese pizza and tater tots, a small dinner salad, a cup of New England-style clam chowder, and a NY Steak sandwich. The food came in a reasonable time, with appetizers and salad first, then the rest. The apps were good, but the onion rings were a bit greasy. The honey wings were well-liked, as well as the artichoke hearts, which, strangely, were not oily like the onion rings. Yummy! The cheese pizzas paired with tater tots were certainly different, but the pizza was more like a reheated frozen pizza. The tots were okay. The NY Steak sandwich was good as well, with a side of steak fries - obviously! Overall, we enjoyed the meal and would definitely consider dining here in the future when in town.

DONT OPEN THE 12 doors just walk away.... Not to mention they didn't even give me my damn truffle fries, didn't even have the heart to ask and wait another hour for them to fix it. Thanks for the strong drink, it was greatly needed!
