I have not come to this Dennys in quite a bit as I thought they were still closed but I was pleasantly surprised to find out they were open again! I decided to treat myself there one night while out. There was a beautiful, kind hearted server named Kate (if I remember correctly) the store was quite busy and she was alone but she did not let that stop her positive energy and making sure each guest was prioritized. The food did take a little longer than I anticipated, however my server, Kate apologized for the wait and even mentioned beforehand that there might be a minor wait as the restaurant was busy and it was just her on for the night. About a half an hour later my food came out, and I have no complaints about the food other than the hashbrowns were a little undercooked other than that everything was excellent. Even though the food took a little while my server made up for it in every way! Made sure my cup was full without my asking and was just a very pleasant person to be around. If I were her in that situation I would have been so overwhelmed but she kept her cool and stayed so grounded and kind. We need more people like her overall my experience was good and I'll continue to go back as frequently as I can now to visit Kate and get my chicken bacon ranch that she suggested. OMG. I heard they opened again and things were better so we decided to try it out. 4 adults and 2 children (3 & 7). Boy was I wrong, and they won't be getting a repeat customer from us again. Good stuff: new and clean furniture. Clean menus. Bubbly and apologetic server, who said he was the only one working. Food was OK, except for notes below. Now why we won't be going back: 15 minutes to get our drinks, 45 minutes for the one appetizer - had to ask for plates to use with the appetizers. Main entrees came all at once, except they came an hour and a half after ordering. While waiting in a near empty restaurant we did make a lot of observations. I think they don't have a good system of cooking as they seemed to prioritize the online and phone orders instead of the seated customers. Not good when the server comes out at the hour point to say the cook is back from their break and was starting on our order! Food came out and looked nice but the medium steak was well done, broccoli had too much salt. And had I noticed this about the toast we would have sent the breakfast plate back, but my daughter did not say anything until the end of the meal. Toast was BLACK and burnt on one side, but they put that side facing down so you wouldn't notice. My son asked about the t-bone having meat on both sides of the bone. Which it did not. lol. Anyways, going to check out I signed up for their rewards program and it said 20% off the bill. I knew kids eat for free so I brought these up at the register. Was told I can only pick one so I picked 20% off our large bill. But they changed and said oh, up to a maximum of $10. 20% of the bill would have been $24. So they asked if I wanted to just use the kids eat free and seeing a line start to form to checkout I opted to just do the $10. But in retrospect, with waiting so long you would think they would have comped something or given more of a discount. I am not that type of customer to complain or try and get comps, only if the meal was horrendous, which the meal overall was decent. And I did leave an 18% gratuity tip for the server in case anyone was wondering. Just won't be going back, which is really sad as we enjoy the Dennys chain restaurants. Wow. The New London location need to hire a new cook. I ordered the biscuits and gravy. I was served a biscuit with cut up sausage links and a flavorless white "gravy" over it. Sent it back immediately. If you don't have sausage gravy, then say so don't pretend and serve something that is not what was ordered. no thank you I'll pass. In what I believe was an old Pizza Hut, this Denny's doesn't live up to the high level of quality I expect from America's Diner. The service was fine, but there is an upcharge for blueberry in pancakes of which they add about 4, and there's an upcharge to get a "fruit cup" side which is basically grapes and a half an unsliced banana. So you end up paying more than you should for diner food from people who obviously didn't care. And the bathroom is one stall per gender. It just doesn't seem like enough when you are waiting for your turn. Most have 2 stalls for better turnover. The parking lot is pretty big, so I guess that's also a plus. That's about it. read more

I ordered a build your own grand slam and never got the pancakes. We ended up just leaving and they were never taken off the bill. Seriously, 2 pancakes couldn't be made in the time it took the rest of my family to eat their meals. The waitress who was very nice was apologetic and offered to have the "just finished" pancakes to go, but what am I going to do? Eat them dry? Why did 2 pancakes take 45 to 60 minutes to cook? There was barely anyone in the restaurant as well, so you couldn't even blame it on being busy. I can't see myself coming back here. It was just too slow. I'm giving 2 stars because 3 out of the 4 of us had a complete meal that they seemed to think was "okay" then they sat and waited for me to get my food that never came. read more

We had decided to stop in for a hot meal on a very cold day..only one server was working and we had to wait because she was taking care of a party of 13..once seated the waitress (who I will say was very good and apologized for the inconvenience..she deserves 5 stars) ) came over and took our order only to come back to let me know that they were out of chicken tenders.. she offered me the menu again but I can honestly say nothing else appealed to me as the lunch choices were minimal at best. So I sat there while friend enjoyed her meal which she really enjoyed. They lied about being 24 hours, was looking forward to eating here in the middle of my 7 hour car ride but couldn't even do that.

First ever Denny's experience! 3.5 rating, but as you all know, Yelp still doesn't offer half stars. There were very few people when I arrived, I sat at the first table by the front door. The host/server came over to take the order---he wasn't the most personable, but wasn't mean either. I went with the Pancakes, Fries with two eggs and turkey bacon. I informed him I didn't want the has browns, could I swap for something else (Grits or Fries). I was told they only have grits in the morning, I could swap for fries, for an upcharge. Despite only a couple people in there, the food took awhile. When the food arrived hash browns were on the plate, I mentioned to him I asked for the fries instead, and he appeared surprised. (-1). As I reached for the pepper I noticed a blatantly used jelly on the table, that should never happen, in my opinion (-1). The food itself was fine--the experience was just average. I went to eat at this Denny's restaurant on Saturday morning July 31, 2022, and I must say out of all the Denny's restaurants i have been to this particular one is hands down, the worst one i have ever been to hands down! My first question is why is there no manager at this franchise making sure that everything that needs to be done is being done? Service here is horrible! Hashbrowns which is something that is required to have in this type of a restaurant is non-existent. I had to have fruit instead and guess what they even charged me $4.00 dollars for it! On a number of occasions I had to get up to get utensils, sugar, pancake syrup, napkins. Why is that? those should be the first items that are already on the table when customers are seated. I would have even gotten up to get the coffee myself but I didn't know where the coffee pot was. I even offered to help the server with my own order because she seemed like she was a bit overwhelmed with customers. She politely told me that I did not have to help her. I waited close to an hour for my food (PANCAKES) to arrive ‍ As soon as you walk in the number of the general manager is posted at the front desk I attempted to contact the general manager left a message and was never contacted that shows you customer service is lacking big time at this place! read more

I might be erring on the high side for my rating , in that much of the basics are pretty good, and what do you expect from a Denny's: the facility is clean, including the bathrooms, waitstaff is courteous and professional, the menu is what it is, adequate Denny's fare, night or day. Atmosphere is pleasant for both dinner and breakfast, which is actually quite a challenge for a this king of place. They get demerits for some things that are not within the control of the local staff: Our Monday evening visit was met apologetically with no salmon, soup, or salad. That said, the brisket-and egg sandwiches absolutely delicious (and unique). The TV's in the corners, having been on continuously for in 10years or so, are barely watchable (blue, grainy) and the flush valve on the men's room urinal has been non-functional for three of the four visits I have had here in the last year or so. (Though it had been kept spotless, presumably by the staff dumping buckets of water into it regularly. ) No complaints about the senior menu in general, and certainly a good value, and tasty. The location is certainly easy access from northbound I95, not so much for southbound. But even though it isn't ideally located for my family (we live miles away and across the river) this will continue to be a regular stop for us. read more

I love Denny's! The food is always good, and the New London Denny's has D.J., aka Dejanirah, as a waitress. She is terrific! Or as my granddaughter told her, "You're fun!" The place seemed clean enough, I didn't notice any dirt. Did not use the restroom so can't speak to that. We'll be back, even though it is a half hour drive for us. read more

i ordered a milkshake and biscuit and gravy and I was informed when I got there, and there was only one worker that was the cook, the dishwasher, and the waiter, that they were out of biscuits. I wasn't offered a replacement and was just sort of hurried into leaving by being told that I would get a refund for it and to give it until the next morning to go back into my bank account. and I still haven't seen it, and that was a few weeks ago. the inside of the restaurant was just dirty and dark and I know things happen and at times there's not enough staff and i can appreciate the stress and hard work people in that industry endure, but it was enough for it to be my first and last time there. read more

Not my typical post or choice in dining, but honestly I was pleasantly suprised. I went in with one purpose, on January 30, 2020 Denny's was giving away their new Beyond burger with a drink purchase. I arrived and was greeted by Andrea who sat me at my table and was also my server. It was kinda quiet, not very busy. This Denny's is new and much smaller than the ones I went to when I was younger. It was clean and Andrea was an excellent server. I had a Diet Coke, french fries, and the Beyond burger cooked, no cheese, no sauce making it vegan, at least I hope it was vegan, I'm not too sure about the bun. I'll have to look that up later online. The french fries were great and the burger was cooked well. All the vegetables on the burger were fresh and the bun was soft and flavorful. Andrea stop to buy to refill my Diet Coke it's me how everything was going. When I got the bill and the $8.99 had been removed and all I paid for was the Diet Coke and fries for the promotion. Great quality food, I've had them delivered through ubereats multiple times and the order is always fresh and well prepared. Just came in for a Sunday morning breakfast. Coffee was a little bitter, but we came earlier before the crowd so it may just have been an old pot. The second cup was better. Pancakes, omelettes and grand slam were great. Service was pretty good, slacked off a bit before we left due to the crowd, but that's understandable. Overall better quality and more consistent than some of the other breakfast joints we've been to. Definitely one of the best Denny's I've been Update 6/17/2020 Not sure what happened to this location, food quality has gone down the drain. My latest order included pancakes that were overcooked on the outside but still raw in the middle, greasy, char flecks from a dirty griddle coated everything including my scrambled eggs. I went to this Dennys. Sat at the table for 20 minutes waiting for the waitress to take our order. We The waitress then comes over and says she had allergies, but didn't wear a mask. We then ordered our food, which took another 10 minutes to come. We asked if we can take our food take out, they said sure. We paid for our food to speed up the process. Then we saw the food preparers were not wearing gloves as they were directly touching the food. I even saw one touch their face and then touch the food. We then requested to speak to a manager. We told our concern to the manager Debbie who said she got a complaint about the same server before. We cancelled our order and Debbie said she would refund our money. She said it would take 5-10 business days, we are almost on day 14. I called corporate office who said they would look into it and notify me of their findings by email and phone. They have a chicken Parmesan with pasta dinner that is to die for! Humongous portion, everytime. Comes with delicious garlic bread and salad. They also have the best hamburgers with all the fixings and is exactly the way you want a burger to be. They also have a meatball grinder that melts in your mouth it's unbelievably good and all of these are consistent. It's not hit or miss! They Always have the same thing the same way and that is what people love in a restaurant. Prices are good and reasonable. I definitely recommend this to everyone including children. Staff was chipper and friendly and the food came out hot. Overall its acceptable chain diner food. Its not gourmet. The pancakes are the best chain pancakes though...(side-eye toward ihop). We were so excited when this place opened nearby. We came in with a party of six on a busy saturday, and saw that the place was packed. My dad was visiting from Michigan and looking forward to a Denny's breakfast. Manager and hostess were at the front but no one acknowledged we were there. It was obviously very busy, chaotic and overwhelming for staff, but we were patient. It would've been nice to be acknowledged. After 45 minutes with no acknowledgement, we left. It seems staff needs training and there needs to be better management of the staff, crowds and seating. The dining room is small, so there is not enough room for larger parties. Curious why this Denny's is smaller than most I've been in when there was clearly enough room to build a larger place. This experience just reinforces the idea that I need to continue to give business to the local mom and pop places. When Pigs Fly, the Shack, Smakosh and Somewhere in Time offer far superior food and service. Sorry New London Denny's, I gave it a shot!!!! read more

Service from Rebecca was great--she is happy, friendly, all the things you would like in a server. My corned beef was wonderful, and I ate it all (and tried to walk it off later). Husband's Moon over my Hammy - not so. The new cook only put in half the ham, and that was disappointing (especially since it is the title!). My dining experience at Denny's was great. 80% of my satisfaction goes to my server. It wasn't busy at the time so my server was acting hostess as well. She always made sure my cup of coffee was full and didn't rush me at all. I'm not from the area but it appeared to me that locals frequent this restaurant and that says a lot. I got the Grand Slam Slugger and it was awesome. Pancakes were very fluffy. My meal came with OJ and it was a very large glass. Enormous value, great service and great food. This is probably the worse Denny's I've ever been too! Considering it's a holiday one would think there would be enough staff scheduled, but clearly they were under staffed. Ordered pancakes which were rubbery and really flat. My friend ordered the chicken fried steak which was over cooked and dry and hard as hell. The waitress is so busy that she couldn't come back to check on us to see how the food was for over 15 minutes at which I had to stop her from going to another table to address the situation she informed us she will let the manager know and the manager will be over to see us. We waited no sight of a manager anywhere. She brings us the bill and informs us she will meet us at the register to adjust the bill. Still no manager in sight. Then at the register we explain to another staff member, that our waitress is going to take care of the bill or a manager our waitress comes over and gives us the AARP discount. I stated to her that's not going to work where's the manager she appears to be in the verge of a breakdown the place is getting busy now the line is out the door and all the tables are filled when we arrived there was us and 3 other tables. She proceeds to say never mind your all set and balls up the bill, and repeats it over about 3 to 4 times. I think the waitress is stressed to no end and clearly Denny's needs a better management, better staffing and a better cook. We attempted to go a few months ago and ended up leaving due to the staffing issues. Line was out the door and not enough staff we witnessed people walking out the restaurant not paying their bill because they were waiting so long to get their bill or waited long time for someone to come to the register so they can pay. So that night we left and went somewhere else to eat! Denny's really needs a good strong manager to get this place under wraps else the place won't last! The service sucks!
