Spare on the blueberries and tecfruit plate.

In what I believe was an old Pizza Hut, this Denny's doesn't live up to the high level of quality I expect from America's Diner. The service was fine, but there is an upcharge for blueberry in pancakes of which they add about 4, and there's an upcharge to get a "fruit cup" side which is basically grapes and a half an unsliced banana. So you end up paying more than you should for diner food from people who obviously didn't care. And the bathroom is one stall per gender. It just doesn't seem like enough when you are waiting for your turn. Most have 2 stalls for better turnover. The parking lot is pretty big, so I guess that's also a plus. That's about it.

Service was dreadful, but that's because they had poor girl working the front, and waitressing all by herself......we watched 3 other couples walk out after being seated. The food was pretty good I must say, but Dennys as a company, should be ashamed!

First ever Denny's experience! 3.5 rating, but as you all know, Yelp still doesn't offer half stars. There were very few people when I arrived, I sat at the first table by the front door. The host/server came over to take the order---he wasn't the most personable, but wasn't mean either. I went with the Pancakes, Fries with two eggs and turkey bacon. I informed him I didn't want the has browns, could I swap for something else (Grits or Fries). I was told they only have grits in the morning, I could swap for fries, for an upcharge. Despite only a couple people in there, the food took awhile. When the food arrived hash browns were on the plate, I mentioned to him I asked for the fries instead, and he appeared surprised. (-1). As I reached for the pepper I noticed a blatantly used jelly on the table, that should never happen, in my opinion (-1). The food itself was fine--the experience was just average. Hence, the three star rating.

I had to pay for a cup of fruit because they didn't have hashbrowns which was supposed to come with my order.

I went to eat at this Denny's restaurant on Saturday morning July 31, 2022, and I must say out of all the Denny's restaurants i have been to this particular one is hands down, the worst one i have ever been to hands down! My first question is why is there no manager at this franchise making sure that everything that needs to be done is being done? Service here is horrible! Hashbrowns which is something that is required to have in this type of a restaurant is non-existent. I had to have fruit instead and guess what they even charged me $4.00 dollars for it! On a number of occasions I had to get up to get utensils, sugar, pancake syrup, napkins. Why is that? those should be the first items that are already on the table when customers are seated. I would have even gotten up to get the coffee myself but I didn't know where the coffee pot was. I even offered to help the server with my own order because she seemed like she was a bit overwhelmed with customers. She politely told me that I did not have to help her. I waited close to an hour for my food (PANCAKES) to arrive ‍ As soon as you walk in the number of the general manager is posted at the front desk I attempted to contact the general manager left a message and was never contacted that shows you customer service is lacking big time at this place!

Got real medium rare meat and paid extra for bacon, mushrooms and cheese. Was offered raw or sautéed onions too got them cooked. My 1 criticism is there were no napkins included and I didn't think to ask for any. Messy, delicious burger! I recommend you check them out. I'll be back.

Driving in there is a hidden parking lot on the left side of the restaurant. Walking in it the host greeted us and asked us to sit anywhere we like. It is a cute place with plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. It was a bit humid out so we ate inside. When we sat, we were told that there is a coffee and tea bar. I thought that was cute and efficient. You get up, grab a mug and pour your own hot drink. I order the sampler which had a little of everything and my fiancé order the blueberry pancakes. We didn't know what to expect but the portions was huge. The French toast was good and the pancakes were normal nothing special. The home fries was a small portion on the plate. The bacon, eggs and sausage were good. To be honest I didn't need 4 slices of toast. Two max would have been good enough. My fiancé enjoy his blueberry pancakes. We didn't finished what we order cause it was so much. Overall great place if you want that diner style breakfast. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Would definitely come back.

No matter, we were there before 11AM so we were served breakfast. The server we had was excellent she was a former employee of the Coffee Break which was the old restaurant in this location. The place is LOUD. The decor is new and refreshed. There is NO WHEEL CHAIR ACCESS (which surprised me as they just renovated the place. One would think the Town of Clinton would have required it.) I had the Breakfast Wrap with sausage and american cheese. It was good and filling. $7.00 (in May 2026) My companion had the Quinoa Omelette pictured 1/2 eaten ($14.75 in May 2026) which was good. The home fries had a little too much salt but were otherwise excellent. Personally when there is salt actually on the table, I always wonder why the cook just lightly dusts with salt as I can add more. We also ordered a fresh fruit cup which had grapes purple and green, strawberries, and a few hard pieces of honey dew melon. $6.50 (May 2026) In May 2026 the hours are 0700-1430 MON - SAT 0700-1200 SUN ****WARNING**** They stop servicing breakfast items at 11AM They do take credit cards BUT... They used to take it right at the table now, they don't which means you wait to pay. Bad move on the owner's part. There is plenty of free parking. The parking lot is 'smallish' on the right side of the building and flows right to left in one direction, so be sure to look for the 'enter' sign. There are three steps up into the diner so be aware of that if you have difficulty using steps. Also, the restroom is tiny: like so small the sink is about a foot long by half as much wide, small. We stop in here on our trips out to Groton. Last visit we stopped for a late breakfast/early lunch. I ordered a coffee and it came in a nice big mug and is a mellow blend with a smooth finish. There are photo descriptions on the table of what your eggs will look like based on how you order it, so no surprises. What a great idea. The table holds napkins, hot sauces, salt & pepper, jellies, creamer and sugars. The staff are pleasant. Some are more chatty than others. There are definitely some regulars here each time we visit. The menu has lots of breakfast options but there are no substitutions so you may need to order al a carte or get a different 'meal' option and add-on an item. Just a heads up. They have plenty of toast options including English muffins. The lunch menu is a variety of sandwiches and burgers. Fries are tasty. Lettuce and tomato on your sandwiches are fresh. I can't think of a single disappointment we've had here. If you are in the area and enjoy a nice diner experience, stop in to Norm's.

Wow, were they right…read more From the warm greeting at the door to the beautiful decor, the experience started strong. We were seated at a lovely table for two overlooking Main Street - watching people stroll by from that elevated perch behind glass felt almost cinematic. The real star of the show was the food, which is ultimately what you're there for, and it delivered. The menu offers plenty of options without being overwhelming. I started with the Crispy Pig's Head as an appetizer - a bold choice that turned out to be outstanding. For my entrée, the bucatini with seacoast mushrooms, sherry, parmesan, mushroom cream, and fine herbs was perfectly cooked, and carried a subtle but deeply flavorful sauce. And the housemade sourdough with poblano honey butter? Absolutely outstanding. To be fair, our server took a little time to warm up but found their footing and gave us everything we needed. Parking in Mystic on a busy weekend night can also be a challenge and expensive. Neither is reason enough to skip this one. Ship Wright's Daughter is exactly the kind of restaurant Mystic deserves. Don't wait for a special occasion -- just go.

My husband and I got married last December. We decided we would hold off on celebrating with our family and invite everyone out from California to join us for a weekend full of activities in Connecticut and a special dinner at Shipwright's Daughter during Memorial Day weekend. We contacted the restaurant's events team to work out high level details starting in late January - to book a private room and hold a date and time. From the get go, the communication we received from the event staff was dismal to say the least. Not only did the events manager misquote the estimate for the room reservation, she came back and asked for a much higher price (up charging by an additional 30% of the original minimum fee) two months after we confirmed and discussed the date. She then explained it was due to the holiday weekend. Our date had never changed from the moment we inquired, so we would have appreciated knowing this upfront. Over the course of several months (and an absurd number of emails and a few calls), we tried to solidify the menu and wine selection and made multiple attempts before hearing back from the team. It was about two weeks before the big event when we were able to confirm a menu. It was about four days before the event that we heard back from the beverage director, but by then, my husband and I had already decided we would bring our own wine bottles, not wanting to leave it to chance with this team. I won't go into further details about the frustration we felt regarding their system for communications (they use an internal system that doesn't make it easy for guests to know who is copied on emails and who sees what). That is something I hope they will work out. When the big day came, I walked into the room and noticed there were a number of chairs missing, so I counted the chairs. They had an incorrect number of chairs for adults and not enough high chairs for the toddlers. We had requested a specific number of these chairs (weeks prior and mentioned it multiple times in writing), and I thought it was safe to assume that this was a basic checklist item for events set up. I was dumbfounded in the moment. I couldn't help but wonder what else they were going to miss or mess up that evening. It was disappointing to have our family members wait while the staff scrambled to pull other chairs into the room. From the time it took to take everyone's order from the set menu, the time between courses being served, and the attentiveness for pouring water and wine - all of it was a miss. The level of hospitality that we expected from a restaurant so recognized for its incredible food and approach to sustainable sourcing was completely overshadowed by the lack of attention and care by its staff - since day one of planning this event. Even a few of our family members commented on this during the dinner. At the end of the day, we felt like an obligation rather than welcomed guests, and that is mainly why I'm leaving this review. We had been patrons of Shipwright's a couple of times prior to this event, which is why we chose this establishment - to represent the best that Connecticut has to offer, when it comes to a dining experience we could vouch for. We no longer feel that we can recommend this restaurant. If you care about hospitality, I would recommend looking elsewhere.
