Went to Pop Over Eatery for breakfast on a weekday. It's a cute spot, with a counter for people ordering takeout, as well as many tables for dining in. Our waitress was knowledgeable about the menu, and friendly. She took our orders, and our food came out pretty quickly. We ordered the corned beef hash plate, the Shoreline Feast, and the Kpop. Shoreline feast was a standard breakfast plate of eggs, bacon, sausage, and home fries. I did like that croissant was one of their options for toast. The corned beef hash platter had the same eggs, home fries, and toast, but included an excellent corned beef hash that actually had fibers from the corned beef brisket. Got to try out a sample of their new summer supper club menus and what an experience it was! The overall meal was laid back---paper plates and plastic cups, but the experience was elevated. Food was served tasting menu styled in the form of 6 unique courses that all were delicious. Service was efficient and kept the meal moving at a good pace unlike other tasting menus I've done that dragged on. The meal included alcohol like canned cocktails or wine, but I also got to try their take on the coral dot cake latte too and it was very good! It was a nice experience to get to hear about the restaurant which is known for brunch and adding this summer supper club, to meet the chefs (one was graduating high school the next day and off to JWU in the fall!) and to hear the owners vision for this already amazing spot. I want to share how much we enjoyed our recent visit to this restaurant. After dining with you last year, we made it a point to return during our trip to Mystic for Mother's Day and my birthday. Despite being very busy on Mother's Day, the staff handled the crowd with great professionalism. My wife ordered the Veggie Pop popover and I had the breakfast burrito; both were excellent and just as high-quality as we remembered. It engenders good feelings to our stomachs. What a find. Was in the area on Mother's Day looking for bite to eat. Lucky find, I couldn't believe it wasn't crowded. Staff super friendly and helpful. Place is nice has good amount of tables. Stopped here after a run to re-fuel. Did not have breakfast but appreciated that it has a parking lot (a plus in Mystic) and is a bit removed from the downtown Mystic area. Grabbed an iced americano and love that they use local Giv coffee. Also picked up a Morning Glory muffin which paired perfectly with it. Loved this muffin in their Simsbury location and was glad to see it in Mystic. read more

The pop over with the honey butter was delicious My hot honey iced latte was also delicious though I didn't taste too much spice and it was a little too sweet, but not overly so (for reference I typically just get an unflavored unsweetened latte). My pop over was good, but felt a little too savory. I wish I had ordered the pop over on the side rather than as the container for the veggie scrambled egg dish. Also, we ordered a specialty smoothie to support pride month, which was delicious as well. Our server was attentive and engaging. We loved our little table by the window. The atmosphere was bustling on a Saturday morning and I can see why. Went to Pop Over eatery and had a delicious breakfast. My husband and I split the Veggie Pop (regular menu) and the Apple Pie Belgian Waffles (these were a special limited menu item). Both were fantastic, not overly salty (veggie pop) or sweet (waffles). The wait was a bit long, 30 min, considering it was not at capacity. But service was great. My family of four went here today, and 3/4 of us were in love. The service was fantastic. I ordered the veggie pop with fried Brussels sprouts on the side and both were delicious. My hubby ordered a special - the Chicken pop pie. He was a happy camper. He had it with the fried cauliflower, which he liked. We had the buffalo sauce on the side. Our eldest liked her french toast, but did not like the side of steak tips she ordered at all. They seemed to be brined in a balsamic vinaigrette and the taste was off-putting. We all tried it and agreed. Our youngest was in heaven with her waffles and hot cocoa. She just wanted more fruit. The decor was joyfully seasonal. We look forward to coming again. read more

A solid spot for breakfast! The interior is pleasant with a beachy feel, perfect for Mystic right by the bridge. Service was great and quick. Everyone was friendly while having to balance the busy morning. The food was amazing. We started the 'pop overs' which were eggy and tasty. They were served with a sweet butter which complimented the savory pastry. We also had the protein packed stuff popover (eggs, sausage, bacon, mushrooms, and cheese). All of that they stuffed into a popover which created an amazing dish. Finally, my wife had the French toast, eggs, and bacon. The bread was a good challah bread with a side of real maple syrup! The plain bean burger was literally just a patty with a piece of bread. My mom and I were so excited to try this place because we've loved popovers since having them at the Jordan Pond House in Acadia National Park. The wait was around 20 minutes and there's no room to wait inside. They do text you when the table is almost ready so you can walk around. My mom a popover with cheesy eggs, I got an eggs Benedict version. We also ordered a k pop to share. When our food arrived, it was completely cold. Not lukewarm or room temp, but cold. The cheese on my mom's meal wasn't even melted. My bacon and poached eggs seemed like they'd been sitting around. We asked our server to get a manager we could speak to. Our server didn't seem pleased about it. The manager admitted they were having kitchen issues and offered to bring us something else. I took a new order of potatoes and some plain scrambled eggs because I was starving and we had other plans for the rest of the day. No one ever refilled our beverages. The table next to us received popovers that were steaming hot when they opened them so I don't know what was going on. Serving eggs and breakfast meats that have been cooked and left to sit out seems dangerous from a food safety standpoint. And if the manager knew the kitchen was having issues, why wasn't she doing some quality control? The one good thing is we weren't charged for our meal and we didn't need to ask for this to happen. It only makes sense because the food was not edible. I feel the cute space and innovative restaurant idea will get tourists in. I personally would not eat here again nor recommend it. read more

My friends and I decided to try out this place for brunch and boy did it not disappoint!! Service was excellent, food was delicious and I can't wait to come back. Easy for eating in or take out. My friend and I decided to try their "Southern" fried chicken and Belgian waffles which is gluten free! At $17 I think the prices are high for a breakfast place. It is served with cheddar cheese, bacon, hot honey and maple syrup. I ordered mine without the cheese, just couldn't wrap my head around cheddar cheese and maple syrup together. My friend got hers with the cheese and said she wouldn't order it with cheese again. The chicken was crispy and the waffles were delicious and fluffy and pair perfectly with the maple syrup. I didn't use the hot honey, I prefer the classic flavors of the chicken and waffles. Our server was friendly and very helpful when my order arrived with cheese and hot honey on it. I was very specific in my order due to food allergies & when my order came out after a substantial wait the allergen was clearly in it so I sent it back. Apparently there was a new chef who was overwhelmed but no excuse, then don't take allergy orders. The server couldn't have been more apologetic and I noticed that the table next to us complained that their order was wrong too. Had some friends in town and they wanted to try Popover. We began with a jug of water they gave to us while had large chunks of food in it so we had to request new glasses and water. Immediately following, we ordered our coffees. The hot coffee came out in a clear mug with a piece of spinach draped over the side dipping into the coffee. We requested a new coffee. After that our food took some time to come out, no complaints on the food but hard to stomach any item after having various chunks of dirty food spread throughout our drinks. . I can only speak for the drinks! I ordered the maple cinnamon matcha but I was given a regular maple cinnamon latte with espresso. Not a huge deal, I could tell the guy was new. The latte was really good! My husband ordered the lightning charger and we were both PLEASANTLY surprised. The next day I went back and ordered the matcha maple cinnamon and received the right drink! Unfortunately, the matcha flavor was really lacking. Like, it was almost not matcha at all, which was a huge bummer. Nonetheless, glad the drinks from the day before were good! read more
