This was a very cute place in the area. Highly recommend if you're looking for a brunch spot. Food was good and service was friendly.

Stopped here after a run to re-fuel. Did not have breakfast but appreciated that it has a parking lot (a plus in Mystic) and is a bit removed from the downtown Mystic area. Grabbed an iced americano and love that they use local Giv coffee. Also picked up a Morning Glory muffin which paired perfectly with it. Loved this muffin in their Simsbury location and was glad to see it in Mystic.

The pop over with the honey butter was delicious My hot honey iced latte was also delicious though I didn't taste too much spice and it was a little too sweet, but not overly so (for reference I typically just get an unflavored unsweetened latte). My pop over was good, but felt a little too savory. I wish I had ordered the pop over on the side rather than as the container for the veggie scrambled egg dish. Also, we ordered a specialty smoothie to support pride month, which was delicious as well. Our server was attentive and engaging. We loved our little table by the window. The atmosphere was bustling on a Saturday morning and I can see why. We had eaten at several hotel properties earlier this week at no cost (and could have had our breakfast included at the hotel today) but chose to make the trek this morning somewhere new and it was well worth the $50 breakfast for two.

Servers and hosts are always friendly. They dont rush you but the food comes out quick and the specialty coffees are delicious. Many gluten free options!!

Small and charming breakfast/lunch spot in Mystic! I had high hopes for trying the "pop overs" since I've never had one before. I tried the veggie popover and it was just okay (it looks exactly how it tastes, nothing bad by any means but also didn't blow my socks off!). I would definitely come back and try something else on the menu! The home fries were delicious and the blood orange aperol spritz was a hit!

Went to Pop Over eatery and had a delicious breakfast. My husband and I split the Veggie Pop (regular menu) and the Apple Pie Belgian Waffles (these were a special limited menu item). Both were fantastic, not overly salty (veggie pop) or sweet (waffles). The wait was a bit long, 30 min, considering it was not at capacity. But service was great. It's a casual eatery with a California vibe to it. Would go again for sure but would account for the longer wait.

Chicken with waffles

Excellent from food to service. Popover with eggs and chicken with waffles were excellent. Service - very friendly and warm.

Small casual breakfast/lunch restaurant with signature house made popovers stuffed with toppings from Nutella and fruit to scrambled eggs and breakfast items or topped with chili and cheese they all have some standard Breakfast fair options with their own twist. And you can even come for lunch and have salads, sandwiches etc. Nice selection of coffee and tea drinks as well. It's always hard to choose.....Eat in or Takeout.

My favorite thing about this place and why we chose it is the vegan options. It's overpriced but may not considering Mystic is overpriced in general. I wasn't the biggest fan. The hot drinks were great!! That's probably all I would return for. The food was mid. Parking on site. It can get busy on weekends. People are friendly.

My family of four went here today, and 3/4 of us were in love. The service was fantastic. I ordered the veggie pop with fried Brussels sprouts on the side and both were delicious. My hubby ordered a special - the Chicken pop pie. He was a happy camper. He had it with the fried cauliflower, which he liked. We had the buffalo sauce on the side. Our eldest liked her french toast, but did not like the side of steak tips she ordered at all. They seemed to be brined in a balsamic vinaigrette and the taste was off-putting. We all tried it and agreed. Our youngest was in heaven with her waffles and hot cocoa. She just wanted more fruit. The decor was joyfully seasonal. We look forward to coming again.

I've been wanting to try their food ever since they opened in Mystic, mainly because of their extensive plant-based options on the menu. Recently, I finally got the chance. I placed a pickup order through their website, but the food was disappointing. The buffalo cauliflower sandwich was just okay (the best among what I ordered). The plain bean burger was literally just a patty with a piece of bread. The fries were mediocre, and the Brussels sprouts were a complete disaster -- all I could taste and see was oil (especially disappointing given the high price!).

My mom and I were so excited to try this place because we've loved popovers since having them at the Jordan Pond House in Acadia National Park. The wait was around 20 minutes and there's no room to wait inside. They do text you when the table is almost ready so you can walk around. My mom a popover with cheesy eggs, I got an eggs Benedict version. We also ordered a k pop to share. When our food arrived, it was completely cold. Not lukewarm or room temp, but cold. The cheese on my mom's meal wasn't even melted. My bacon and poached eggs seemed like they'd been sitting around. We asked our server to get a manager we could speak to. Our server didn't seem pleased about it. The manager admitted they were having kitchen issues and offered to bring us something else. I took a new order of potatoes and some plain scrambled eggs because I was starving and we had other plans for the rest of the day. No one ever refilled our beverages. The table next to us received popovers that were steaming hot when they opened them so I don't know what was going on. Serving eggs and breakfast meats that have been cooked and left to sit out seems dangerous from a food safety standpoint. And if the manager knew the kitchen was having issues, why wasn't she doing some quality control? The one good thing is we weren't charged for our meal and we didn't need to ask for this to happen. It only makes sense because the food was not edible. I feel the cute space and innovative restaurant idea will get tourists in. I personally would not eat here again nor recommend it.

My friends and I decided to try out this place for brunch and boy did it not disappoint!! Service was excellent, food was delicious and I can't wait to come back. Easy for eating in or take out. We tried their coffee, popovers, waffles, home fries and everything was so so good!!! our server was so friendly and detail oriented making us feel so comfortable and welcome. It gets busy so if you know ahead of time I recommend you make a reservation (we did). Such a fun little spot with an energetic buzz and a great place to meet up with friends! 10/10 would recommend

There were 6 of us for brunch and none of us had been here before. The Shipwright's Daughter rivals many excellent experiences we had and surpasses most. The staff was super friendly and did everything they could to make our experience memorable. The brunch menu offers a nice assortment of options as we had one member in our party who had some eating restrictions. We started off with both raw and roasted oysters, both of which, we some of the best we have ever had. I love Shashuka. I've never had it with tomatillos. This version is now my favorite. I enjoyed the play between savory and acid. I chose my eggs to be prepared over easy expecting the yolks to add the desired richness that tomatillos can handle without overpowering their bite. What set this version apart for me was the addition of the pickled vegetables. They greatly complimented the tomatillos with their own sweetness and acidity that made for a well balanced bite. Others in our party felt similarly, that their meals were so flavorful and so well execucted that it made for a superb dining experience.

They might be a tad bit under staffed cause we did wait a bit before someone got us a table and even to pay and get some of the bakery items was a bit of a wait, but it wouldn't stop me from going again. The food actually came out fairly quickly. The wife and I both got the grilled chicken sandwich with fries and my son got the French toast. I will admit, when my wife wanted to come here I really wasn't in the mood for anything I saw on the menu. We were on vacation and we weren't having much luck with food options the whole time so I was just being picky. That all changed tho when food arrived because that sandwich was excellent and really hit the spot. And the fries.....if you like McDonald's fries, you will like these even more because to me that's what they reminded of when their fries used to be good. My son enjoy his French toast. Will definitely go back. Price was reasonable as well. Oh!! Almost forgot about the bakery items. We got a chocolate chip cookie, a macadamia nut cookie and my son wanted macaroons. The cookies were awesome and I guess the macaroons were too cause my son ate them all and wouldn't share

During that time, we watched several other tables come in after us, get their food, and leave before we were even served. After our drinks were dropped off, our server never checked back in to update us on the delay. However she did check in after we got our food. I completely understand that things can get busy, but the restaurant was empty, and multiple staff members passed by our table without acknowledging us. Overall ambiance was very nice... the exposed brick, the cozy booths. But we won't be rushing back any time soon.

I really liked the ambiance of the space, it's quite comfortable and has a nautical aesthetic. We were sat in a cozy little corner by the window, a great spot for watching the bustling of the little seaside town. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable of the restaurant's offerings, noting in their introduction that the focus of the menu is on fresh local seafood, and that everything on the menu is freshly made in house. I was very eager to try a cup of the clam chowder for an appetizer since many other reviewers have said that it's some of the best they've ever tasted, and after trying it for myself I'm more than inclined to agree with them; it had a perfect consistency and excellent flavor. Boyfriend wanted the fried mozzarella so we got some of that, and that was pretty tasty as well. Boyfriend got the chicken parm sandwich for his meal and I got the fish and chips. I didn't end up trying the sandwich, but he said he liked it. My fish and chips plate was pretty good; the fish tasted just a tad under seasoned to me, however the flavorful tartar sauce helped with that and I could tell the fish itself was great quality. The hand cut fries were good, but I wasn't really a fan of the coleslaw. Overall we had a pleasant experience at The Mariner. A very good choice for fresh seafood and a relaxed vibe. I'm sure I'll be in town again at some point; if I come back to The Mariner, I'll make a point to get a bowl of the clam chowder instead of a cup, because that alone is absolutely worth returning for... but until then, I'll be dreaming about it.
