Our drink order for my husband a blood orange juice and myself an iced maple cinnamon latte. Both drinks beautifully refreshing after walking to Pop Over from our hotel over the drawbridge. For my breakfast I ordered the protein popover which was stuffed with eggs, bacon, turkey sausage and mushrooms. I for sure got my protein fill for the day. My husband ordered the French toast BLT which I was surprised about I don't generally take him for any sweetness with food. But he actually really loved the sweet and savory combo. Also, with our large meals we were each given a Pop Over with butter. The Pop Over was so airy, and warm and the creamy butter I can imagine it now'. I came in for lunch and got the kale Caesar salad. The salad was fine, itreally didn't have that much kale in it, and the Brussels were a bit too tough to cut or chew. From a gluten free perspective this place is good not great. We got the chicken and waffles and while the waffle was out of this world amazing!!!!!!!!!!! The chicken was overcooked, the cheese wasn't needed, the bacon and maple syrup were good though!! We also got a maple vanilla latte, and while the coffee itself was good, the flavoring was.... Non-existent?? Anyways. The gluten free waffles were a saving grace for them. Also - side note, the music was way way way too loud. We stopped into Popover Eatery after seeing all the great gluten free reviews on findmegf. I tried to get on the waitlist, as directed by the website, but it didn't work. There was about a fifteen minute wait when we arrived around 9 am. We opted to get takeout as the restaurant had very loud music inside and out. We ordered coffee and split the southerner. It's a waffle with cheese and bacon and chicken. The waffle was delicious. It was definitely a good call to split it, as it was plenty of food. The chicken was good but a little overcooked. Went to Pop Over Eatery for breakfast on a weekday. It's a cute spot, with a counter for people ordering takeout, as well as many tables for dining in. Our waitress was knowledgeable about the menu, and friendly. She took our orders, and our food came out pretty quickly. We ordered the corned beef hash plate, the Shoreline Feast, and the Kpop. Shoreline feast was a standard breakfast plate of eggs, bacon, sausage, and home fries. I did like that croissant was one of their options for toast. The corned beef hash platter had the same eggs, home fries, and toast, but included an excellent corned beef hash that actually had fibers from the corned beef brisket. Got to try out a sample of their new summer supper club menus and what an experience it was! The overall meal was laid back---paper plates and plastic cups, but the experience was elevated. Food was served tasting menu styled in the form of 6 unique courses that all were delicious. Service was efficient and kept the meal moving at a good pace unlike other tasting menus I've done that dragged on. The meal included alcohol like canned cocktails or wine, but I also got to try their take on the coral dot cake latte too and it was very good! It was a nice experience to get to hear about the restaurant which is known for brunch and adding this summer supper club, to meet the chefs (one was graduating high school the next day and off to JWU in the fall!) and to hear the owners vision for this already amazing spot. I want to share how much we enjoyed our recent visit to this restaurant. After dining with you last year, we made it a point to return during our trip to Mystic for Mother's Day and my birthday. Despite being very busy on Mother's Day, the staff handled the crowd with great professionalism. My pop over was good, but felt a little too savory. I wish I had ordered the pop over on the side rather than as the container for the veggie scrambled egg dish. Also, we ordered a specialty smoothie to support pride month, which was delicious as well. Our server was attentive and engaging. We loved our little table by the window. Went to Pop Over eatery and had a delicious breakfast. My husband and I split the Veggie Pop (regular menu) and the Apple Pie Belgian Waffles (these were a special limited menu item). Both were fantastic, not overly salty (veggie pop) or sweet (waffles). The wait was a bit long, 30 min, considering it was not at capacity. But service was great. My family of four went here today, and 3/4 of us were in love. The service was fantastic. I ordered the veggie pop with fried Brussels sprouts on the side and both were delicious. My hubby ordered a special - the Chicken pop pie. He was a happy camper. He had it with the fried cauliflower, which he liked. We had the buffalo sauce on the side. Our eldest liked her french toast, but did not like the side of steak tips she ordered at all. They seemed to be brined in a balsamic vinaigrette and the taste was off-putting. I placed a pickup order through their website, but the food was disappointing. The buffalo cauliflower sandwich was just okay (the best among what I ordered). A solid spot for breakfast! The interior is pleasant with a beachy feel, perfect for Mystic right by the bridge. Service was great and quick. Everyone was friendly while having to balance the busy morning. The food was amazing. We started the 'pop overs' which were eggy and tasty. They were served with a sweet butter which complimented the savory pastry. We also had the protein packed stuff popover (eggs, sausage, bacon, mushrooms, and cheese). My mom and I were so excited to try this place because we've loved popovers since having them at the Jordan Pond House in Acadia National Park. The wait was around 20 minutes and there's no room to wait inside. They do text you when the table is almost ready so you can walk around. My mom a popover with cheesy eggs, I got an eggs Benedict version. We also ordered a k pop to share. When our food arrived, it was completely cold. Not lukewarm or room temp, but cold. The cheese on my mom's meal wasn't even melted. My bacon and poached eggs seemed like they'd been sitting around. We asked our server to get a manager we could speak to. Our server didn't seem pleased about it. The manager admitted they were having kitchen issues and offered to bring us something else. I took a new order of potatoes and some plain scrambled eggs because I was starving and we had other plans for the rest of the day. No one ever refilled our beverages. The table next to us received popovers that were steaming hot when they opened them so I don't know what was going on. Serving eggs and breakfast meats that have been cooked and left to sit out seems dangerous from a food safety standpoint. And if the manager knew the kitchen was having issues, why wasn't she doing some quality control? The one good thing is we weren't charged for our meal and we didn't need to ask for this to happen. It only makes sense because the food was not edible. I feel the cute space and innovative restaurant idea will get tourists in. I personally would not eat here again nor recommend it. read more

My friend and I decided to try their "Southern" fried chicken and Belgian waffles which is gluten free! At $17 I think the prices are high for a breakfast place. It is served with cheddar cheese, bacon, hot honey and maple syrup. I ordered mine without the cheese, just couldn't wrap my head around cheddar cheese and maple syrup together. My friend got hers with the cheese and said she wouldn't order it with cheese again. The chicken was crispy and the waffles were delicious and fluffy and pair perfectly with the maple syrup. I didn't use the hot honey, I prefer the classic flavors of the chicken and waffles. Our server was friendly and very helpful when my order arrived with cheese and hot honey on it. I was very specific in my order due to food allergies & when my order came out after a substantial wait the allergen was clearly in it so I sent it back. Apparently there was a new chef who was overwhelmed but no excuse, then don't take allergy orders.
