a beautiful brunch spot and dinner supper club in mystic! i recently attended their newly launched supper club where you get 6-7 courses and unlimited wine/beer! It was peak strawberry season so we enjoyed strawberry rhubarb toast, salad, black rice arancini, cod, strawberry shortcake and more! all the food was fresh and well prepared and the owner, Pam, is such a sweet heart! for $65 a person you enjoy an amazing plated, multi course meal in Mystic!

I love this place so much. Perfect food, excellent service, bright pleasant atmosphere, private parking lot, something for everyone including vegan options, what more could a person want? They were so good with my kids and their bathroom was clean too. Perfect experience here. Strong recommendation from me!

This is exactly the kind of breakfast and lunch spot that keeps you coming back! Delicious food and super friendly staff. Their popovers are the star: light, airy, perfectly golden, with that crisp exterior and soft, buttery center. The stuffed steak and cheese popover is a must-order and packed with flavor in every bite. The house-made corned beef hash is delicious and clearly made with care. I also loved the loaded breakfast bowl complete with crispy potatoes topped with an egg, onions and peppers, melted cheese, guacamole, and sour cream.

What a find. Was in the area on Mother's Day looking for bite to eat. Lucky find, I couldn't believe it wasn't crowded. Staff super friendly and helpful. Place is nice has good amount of tables. Plenty parking. Busy area. Food was Amazing. Had nice variety of drinks, menu was interesting. Couldn't believe how good it was I ate mine and stared at my plate wanting more. Love finding different unique places. Definitely worth the try, we will def drive all the way back to this spot to have again. Thanks

Stopped here after a run to re-fuel. Did not have breakfast but appreciated that it has a parking lot (a plus in Mystic) and is a bit removed from the downtown Mystic area. Grabbed an iced americano and love that they use local Giv coffee. Also picked up a Morning Glory muffin which paired perfectly with it. Loved this muffin in their Simsbury location and was glad to see it in Mystic.

This was a very cute place in the area. Highly recommend if you're looking for a brunch spot. Food was good and service was friendly.

The pop over with the honey butter was delicious My hot honey iced latte was also delicious though I didn't taste too much spice and it was a little too sweet, but not overly so (for reference I typically just get an unflavored unsweetened latte). My pop over was good, but felt a little too savory. I wish I had ordered the pop over on the side rather than as the container for the veggie scrambled egg dish. Also, we ordered a specialty smoothie to support pride month, which was delicious as well. Our server was attentive and engaging. We loved our little table by the window. The atmosphere was bustling on a Saturday morning and I can see why. We had eaten at several hotel properties earlier this week at no cost (and could have had our breakfast included at the hotel today) but chose to make the trek this morning somewhere new and it was well worth the $50 breakfast for two.

Small and charming breakfast/lunch spot in Mystic! I had high hopes for trying the "pop overs" since I've never had one before. I tried the veggie popover and it was just okay (it looks exactly how it tastes, nothing bad by any means but also didn't blow my socks off!). I would definitely come back and try something else on the menu! The home fries were delicious and the blood orange aperol spritz was a hit!

Went to Pop Over eatery and had a delicious breakfast. My husband and I split the Veggie Pop (regular menu) and the Apple Pie Belgian Waffles (these were a special limited menu item). Both were fantastic, not overly salty (veggie pop) or sweet (waffles). The wait was a bit long, 30 min, considering it was not at capacity. But service was great. It's a casual eatery with a California vibe to it. Would go again for sure but would account for the longer wait.

Small casual breakfast/lunch restaurant with signature house made popovers stuffed with toppings from Nutella and fruit to scrambled eggs and breakfast items or topped with chili and cheese they all have some standard Breakfast fair options with their own twist. And you can even come for lunch and have salads, sandwiches etc. Nice selection of coffee and tea drinks as well. It's always hard to choose.....Eat in or Takeout.

My favorite thing about this place and why we chose it is the vegan options. It's overpriced but may not considering Mystic is overpriced in general. I wasn't the biggest fan. The hot drinks were great!! That's probably all I would return for. The food was mid. Parking on site. It can get busy on weekends. People are friendly.

My family of four went here today, and 3/4 of us were in love. The service was fantastic. I ordered the veggie pop with fried Brussels sprouts on the side and both were delicious. My hubby ordered a special - the Chicken pop pie. He was a happy camper. He had it with the fried cauliflower, which he liked. We had the buffalo sauce on the side. Our eldest liked her french toast, but did not like the side of steak tips she ordered at all. They seemed to be brined in a balsamic vinaigrette and the taste was off-putting. We all tried it and agreed. Our youngest was in heaven with her waffles and hot cocoa. She just wanted more fruit. The decor was joyfully seasonal. We look forward to coming again.

Wow, were they right…read more From the warm greeting at the door to the beautiful decor, the experience started strong. We were seated at a lovely table for two overlooking Main Street - watching people stroll by from that elevated perch behind glass felt almost cinematic. The real star of the show was the food, which is ultimately what you're there for, and it delivered. The menu offers plenty of options without being overwhelming. I started with the Crispy Pig's Head as an appetizer - a bold choice that turned out to be outstanding. For my entrée, the bucatini with seacoast mushrooms, sherry, parmesan, mushroom cream, and fine herbs was perfectly cooked, and carried a subtle but deeply flavorful sauce. And the housemade sourdough with poblano honey butter? Absolutely outstanding. To be fair, our server took a little time to warm up but found their footing and gave us everything we needed. Parking in Mystic on a busy weekend night can also be a challenge and expensive. Neither is reason enough to skip this one. Ship Wright's Daughter is exactly the kind of restaurant Mystic deserves. Don't wait for a special occasion -- just go.

I really didn't want to write this review, but potential patrons should know what they can expect…read morewhen working with the event staff at Shipwright's Daughter - if they plan to have a private dining experience and event there. My husband and I got married last December. We decided we would hold off on celebrating with our family and invite everyone out from California to join us for a weekend full of activities in Connecticut and a special dinner at Shipwright's Daughter during Memorial Day weekend. We contacted the restaurant's events team to work out high level details starting in late January - to book a private room and hold a date and time. From the get go, the communication we received from the event staff was dismal to say the least. Not only did the events manager misquote the estimate for the room reservation, she came back and asked for a much higher price (up charging by an additional 30% of the original minimum fee) two months after we confirmed and discussed the date. She then explained it was due to the holiday weekend. Our date had never changed from the moment we inquired, so we would have appreciated knowing this upfront. Over the course of several months (and an absurd number of emails and a few calls), we tried to solidify the menu and wine selection and made multiple attempts before hearing back from the team. It was about two weeks before the big event when we were able to confirm a menu. It was about four days before the event that we heard back from the beverage director, but by then, my husband and I had already decided we would bring our own wine bottles, not wanting to leave it to chance with this team. I won't go into further details about the frustration we felt regarding their system for communications (they use an internal system that doesn't make it easy for guests to know who is copied on emails and who sees what). That is something I hope they will work out. When the big day came, I walked into the room and noticed there were a number of chairs missing, so I counted the chairs. They had an incorrect number of chairs for adults and not enough high chairs for the toddlers. We had requested a specific number of these chairs (weeks prior and mentioned it multiple times in writing), and I thought it was safe to assume that this was a basic checklist item for events set up. I was dumbfounded in the moment. I couldn't help but wonder what else they were going to miss or mess up that evening. It was disappointing to have our family members wait while the staff scrambled to pull other chairs into the room. From the time it took to take everyone's order from the set menu, the time between courses being served, and the attentiveness for pouring water and wine - all of it was a miss. The level of hospitality that we expected from a restaurant so recognized for its incredible food and approach to sustainable sourcing was completely overshadowed by the lack of attention and care by its staff - since day one of planning this event. Even a few of our family members commented on this during the dinner. At the end of the day, we felt like an obligation rather than welcomed guests, and that is mainly why I'm leaving this review. We had been patrons of Shipwright's a couple of times prior to this event, which is why we chose this establishment - to represent the best that Connecticut has to offer, when it comes to a dining experience we could vouch for. We no longer feel that we can recommend this restaurant. If you care about hospitality, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

The chips appeared to be homemade, and they were tremendous along with the salsa Verde and Macha. There was a nice kick to the salsas and a perfect crunch from the chips. However, it just felt like the dish was mostly chips. I felt like more toppings could be added or an additional egg. The fried egg was also a little overcooked, guess when ordering, we could have specified how we wanted it to be cooked. The doughnut was okay. The sourdough base was very solid, but essentially just a lot of cheese on top. I was not sure what to expect regarding this type of doughnut, but this was the least optimal choice. Will I go back? Decor was, of course throwback with lots of nostalgic memorabilia adorning the walls. 80s music set the atmoshphere, faithful to the history. The pizza was great. Our rather large group of world travelers was impressed by the crust. It was cooked properly with light crispiness on the edges. I felt the flavors and combonations were well balanced. The sauce was not overwhelming like many pizza joints but flavorful. We opted for the Meatza Pizza, a pepperoni, and Yaiya's Secret. They were all very good. Usually I have a stand alone favorite- not this time. The Meatza was such that one could taste the individual flavors but as a very tasty medley. The Yaiya's was a pleasant surprise of a little sweet with a touch of heat. Even my daughter who seldom likes a "just cheese" pizza, found it out of the ordinary and really enjoyed it. The pepperoni was cooked the the way I like it, with that little bit of crispiness around the edges. For an extra touch, their own Mystic draft beer is a great refreshing pale ale. Sitting in the Mystic Marriott lobby, yelp pointed us to the Captain Daniel Packer Inne. What a find. Although the building was restored in 1979, it's origin dates to 1756. Everything seems to have been preserved -including the aura. As you would expect with a building older than the signing of the Declaration of Independence, it is small in size but large in hospitality. Without reservations, we did not stand much of a chance in the upstairs dinning area, but a flight of stairs down to the pub in the cellar... and we were seated in 20 minutes. Parking is always tricky, but we got a good spot in the lot and were very happy. The wait for the table was maybe 10 minutes which was not too bad. The waitress was very good and she took care of our water, drinks, and bread right away. The place was busy but we really were pleased with the service! I ordered the fish and chips. Most of the table ordered a steak, veggie, and mashed potatoes. Truffle fries was the appetizer that landed on my end of the table. They were not my favorite. Those who had the steak seemed happy with the meal. Both of us who had the fish and chips were not happy with the meal. We had fish and chips at Steak Loft the night before- and they did not compare. They were perfect. The order I had at Daniel Packard were heavy and filling but I was missing the light tempura batter, the crunch and soft fresh fish, and the great tartar sauce that is the standard for fish and chips! I didn't take my leftovers which is not the norm for me. I'll swing by in the winter for a pint in front of the fire no doubt, but I think another dinner is not in my future.
