We asked if they could do a special order: a burrito deconstructed, with over-easy eggs and the tortillas on the side. They were totally accommodating, and it was exactly what I was craving--fresh, filling, and seriously delicious. I went for the blueberry pancakes, and wow: they were enormous, fluffy, packed with real blueberries, and basically the perfect pre-hike fuel. And the coffee? Amazing, as always. I meant to take a picture of my food, but honestly I accidentally didn't--because everything looked so good that I dug in immediately. And even without the photo evidence, the presentation and plating were incredible, just like they always are. This place has my heart. I'd give it a hundred stars if I could--highly, highly recommend.

Biscuit and gravy reinforced the former impression, but again, hard to complain-- did the job. This place is super affordable and the overall verdict is a solid local place that's easy to appreciate but hard for me to say I would actually get excited about.

Entering the restaurant, the first thing that caught our attention was the dirty floor, littered with food and paper products throughout the restaurant. Coffee and water came out quickly but never had a refill on the coffee until I had finished my meal. Not because I didn't want any, but our server was busy with other tables and didn't get to us until we were almost done. My wife's meal was mostly ok, but the English Muffin was hard enough to use as hockey pucks. My chicken fried steak had a weird flavor and not sure if it was on the gravy or the seasoning used on the meat. But it was just so-so, nothing to write home about. Best thing was the eggs, done perfectly and hashbrowns were pretty decent. Biggest complaint was the slow service, probably due to it being grad weekend and they were pretty busy with families (according to the cashier), and the extremely dirty place. The bathroom was also dirty, obviously nobody had cleaned it for quite a while. I blame management for not planning ahead and having at least 1 or 2 extra servers/busboys on hand to handle the larger crowd. We decided to return to the Ceres location and call that our home for Hod Rod Diner food. As another recommendation, I suggest taking the carpet out and just having a plain floor; much easier to keep clean than a carpet.

Service: All staff members are sweet and attentive. They Al's ways ask if we've dined with them before. (They ask this so they can recommend some dishes if it's your first time) Food: Everything we have gotten here has truly been great. No fuss or frills, just really nice diner food done the right way. Our favorite breakfast items are the country fried steak and eggs, and the linguica and eggs. Our favorite sandwiches are the club on toasted wheat, tuna sandwhich (that we get as a melt on toasted rye for $1 more), and the Philly cheese steak. We love to get the garlic fries. The crinkle cut fries are so crispy yet fluffy on the inside, and seasoned to perfection. Overall the portions are generous, delicious, and reasonably priced.

Indoors and outdoors have a bunch of cool artwork that's inviting and warm. The staff were friendly, polite, and hard working. We started with the fried mozzarella and it was terrific. I ordered the creme brulee French toast and it was spectacular and better than I could have ever imagined. It was full of flavor and I'd order it again in a New York second. My wife opted for the chorizo sausage scramble and loved every bite. Our oldest had the chorizo scramble with my wife and really enjoyed it. Our youngest ordered the pancakes and loved them. It was a great experience and meal and we'll be back soon.

We moved out of state, and we still haven't found...and probably never will find...another place quite like Mel & Faye's. It's the food, the drinks, the service, but more than anything, it's the people. My go-to is the cranberry walnut salad with chicken (so good!), and Sean loves the sourdough burger. The food is always great, but honestly, we come back for the atmosphere and the people who make this place feel like family. Mary is always a hoot as our server, and we absolutely love the entire staff. Bart and Maura have created something really special here, and we appreciate them more than they know. Every time we come back to town, one of the things we look forward to most is walking through those doors, seeing familiar faces, catching up, and feeling right at home again. We miss everyone when we're away, but it makes our visits that much more special. Mel & Faye's will always be our home away from home.

I got the South of the Border Tri Tip sandwich with sweet potato fries. The sandwich was just alright, but I believe that's just a personal preference. To me, it felt a bit oily and did not have very much flavor. The sweet potato fries, on the other hand, were literally out of this world. They were crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. They had a great flavor too. They paired perfectly with their fresh and light ranch. The portion was quite large and on the affordable side. The server came by frequently to check on us and provide refills despite it being very busy and bustling. They were doing a fantastic job as they were practically running around to serve all the tables. My Garden Cafe looks like a very local mom and pop type of cafe despite having multiple locations throughout the valley. It is casual and very homey. The decor is super adorable and looks like a Hobby Lobby exploded inside of there. Despite being quite small, there is a ton of seating. And then she proceeded to be a little snobby towards us if we asked for something else. The food was great, but we will look for that server and we will not sit where she is working. They should be retrained to keep an eye out on who sits 1st. My breakfast was excellent and the pancakes were perfect size.
