5/5 Love this old school diner Ambiance: This restaurant is clean. It can get rather busy on eh weekends but we have never waited more than 10 minutes. Service: All staff members are sweet and attentive. They Al's ways ask if we've dined with them before. (They ask this so they can recommend some dishes if it's your first time) Food: Everything we have gotten here has truly been great. No fuss or frills, just really nice diner food done the right way. Our favorite breakfast items are the country fried steak and eggs, and the linguica and eggs. Our favorite sandwiches are the club on toasted wheat, tuna sandwhich (that we get as a melt on toasted rye for $1 more), and the Philly cheese steak. We love to get the garlic fries. The crinkle cut fries are so crispy yet fluffy on the inside, and seasoned to perfection. Overall the portions are generous, delicious, and reasonably priced. read more

Solid restaurant. My wife and I went twice this week to have breakfast. Really enjoyed our meals. Service was great. Place is extremely clean. Very good atmosphere. You can see that the owners have their friends there and there is great banter and friendship. The mom is there with a huge smile and greeting. Just a friendly, happy place. They have very good iced tea and coffee. I like my hash browns really crispy and they delivered. Oh, and we can place Hot Spot keno while we enjoy our food, courtesy of the California Lottery. Went for breakfast before a doctors appointment. Three of us had three different things- Eggs Benedict was AWFUL! No flavor and sauce WAS SO GREASY! I hated it all. Husband had Breakfast Burrito- no flavor. So dry. AWFUL. Daughter had 2 egg combo- hated it. How do you ruin scrambled eggs and bacon?! At damn near $20 a plate it was such a waste of money! Tastey or WasteY???? Kind of a waste, if you're getting the lemon meringue Pie. I know they stopped making their pies for a while and then brought them back. The lemon meringue pie is clumpy. Twice now that we bought a lemon meringue meringue was deflated not fluffy at all. Maybe they need a new chef to make their pies. I haven't bought any other flavor other than the lemon meringue because it used to be my favorite... Now not so much. I took two bites and I will be getting rid of the rest of this $25 pie. read more

I've been working as a chef in the area for 12 years and I've never stopped inside. Today is a first. The bacon habanero burner is to die for, that first bite quite literally changed my life. I didn't expect that burger patty to be so hot and you can taste the char on it, it was a perfect medium temp. The hot honey made it perfect! Best burger I've had in a long, long time. The booths and bar seats are still nice but the blue diner chairs were replaced with hard yellow chairs. The yellow chairs do not match the aesthetic of a mid century diner, where people come for the retro ambiance. read more

I would have given this place better rating. However, this place is PRICEY. The three of us ended up $70. That's ALOT for my wallet. The food quality is above expectation but for me, once is enough. I would rather revisit a restaurant that's more of mom-n-pop than something "trendy" and expensive. We can't afford visiting this place. It'll break us before we can retire. Weekly specials and happy hour prices are hard to beat in the downtown area. What a cool dinner. It's an old school dinner in a cool old building. We were there for brunch on a Sunday around 11 and it was packed! Always a good sign. The service wasn't the quickest understandably, but they have the friendliest servers. They offer great breakfasts and sandwiches. My French dip was pretty decent and Amy's Denver omelet was delicious. Others in our party had a tasty chicken wrap, an awesome breakfast combo, Swedish thins and more. Went after a day downtown. My oldest got the chef salad, I got the shrimp Louie and youngest got fish and chips. Service and staff were all very nice. My daughter enjoyed her salad, but partially through mine, I noticed it was missing tomatoes and had to ask for them. My youngest ate her fries and Cole slaw, but didn't like the fish. Classic Turlock by lifetime Turlock residents. The Eggs Benedict are great we choose the country potatoes which were firm and cooked crispy. Eggs were poached and yolk was runny. Excellent flavor and fresh ingredients. County-fried Steak was a large portion. Came with country potatoes and a biscuit. Elected not to add gravy to the biscuit. The steak was awesome but the gravy was thicker than usual. (Still Delicious) The server kept our coffee cups warm and full. Food came at an average rate. Not fast food. Not overly extended like a kitchen that was unprepared. The best part is that this place is the same in 2024 as it was 40 years ago. This diner embodies the classic America that we love. The beautiful orange diner seats and classic counter feels so beautiful. Last I will say is that this place was recently purchased by the Pedretti's. A Retro Gem for Big Appetites! Took my grandma to Latif's, and honestly? So cute. It's been awhile since I've been back here and will definitely be back. Grandma got the Denver omelet with a biscuit and gravy (worth the extra $2), and I went for the breakfast combo with these amazing almond-y thin pancakes. Portions? HUGE. Like, we couldn't finish. The service was fantastic. Yasmin, our server, was super sweet, and the gentlemen that delivered our food, made sure we had everything we needed. It's clear they care about taking care of their guests. The retro diner vibes are spot on, giving off a nostalgic charm. It did get a bit loud due to a party in the back, but that only added to the lively energy of the place. Pricier for breakfast but portions make up for it. Only suggestion - bigger coffee cups! Very disappointed in this pie. I ordered a "Little Rank" lemon meringue, and it was nowhere near as good as the original Latif's lemon meringue pies I've had in the past. The lemon filling was clumpy and had an odd texture, which is unacceptable for a 25 dollar pie. Given the price and the long-standing reputation of this dessert, I expected much better. I genuinely hope the new owners take this feedback seriously and bring the quality back to what it used to be. read more

I've liked the food there before. Today we waited for a table for 40 minutes. Then we sat down and they brought us water after 10 minutes. Then another half an hour passed. The restaurant has been busy when we first arrived, but an hour into our way there it was about half full. When I asked the waitress if we could order, she said our waitress was busy. Another 10 minutes past. At that point we had been at the restaurant for an hour and 10 minutes I left and didn't eat anything. read more

This is a cool spot in the downtown Turlock area. Drove past this place multiple times before deciding to stop in one morning. This inside gives off an old time dinner vibes. I have been here twice now and I'm not sure if I'm just coming at the right time but I have not had to wait for a table. Their menu is actually very big with a lot of items to choose from. All the servers are nice and helpful. Everything that my family and I have ordered has been not only tasty but the portions are large. I absolutely adore this retro diner just as much now that it's reopened as I did when I was a kid. I personally appreciate that they've kept the original charm of the place while giving it a slight makeover. I love Latif's for the vibe, food, music playlist, happy hour, and beer selection. My husband and I also appreciate that they have Bloody Mary's. The breakfast are straightforward and solid every time. I branched out the other day and had the Turkey club sandwich with pesto pasta and I absolutely love it! My husband loves their breakfast burritos and you can go wrong with their scrambles. Disappointing that this retro styled diner's new owner has no imagination. You should lean into the linage and aesthetic of the design. Instead we have all the entrapping of a Central Valley low brow bar. Big screen TV's on the wall playing sports. A Lotto screen displaying the numbers......oh boy. Whiskey bar and craft beer cans awkwardly out of place. If you wanted to open a bar you should of opened a bar. We had pies and coffee. The food was fine but not remarkable by any means. First time at Latifs-------Called in a breakfast order to go. Ordered breakfast sliders and chilaquiles breakfast quesadilla with Carnitas and a side of hash-browns. The woman who took our order was very sweet and told us it would be about 20 to 25 minutes as they have a big party in the restaurant. When we arrived 30 minutes later for our order. it was determined that the order was never taken back to the kitchen. It's understandable they were busy and had a big party. We returned and picked up our food. The breakfast sliders were a big portion and very yummy . I was a bit disappointed with the quesadilla as it was missing the eggs and the cojita cheese. I feel like with this the eggs make it. The hash-browns were very tasty. If you want Chilaquiles, go to La Mo. In this instance, I would call the dish that I ordered a breakfast Carnita quesadilla. Well, we moved out of state for 11 years and came back to a newly reopened Latifs. First, love that the interior remained the same. So many good memories in here. Second,sadly, the menu is NOT what it once was. Too bad too. Great place for really good comfort food and home style cooked meals. Now it's burgers and sandwiches and salads. So the Club was good but not what I came for. So we enjoyed the sandwiches and really hoped the pie was still awesome. But, it was not to be either. No pie. I miss the servers who wore aprons and white serving dresses. It was a cool retro style Cafe. It still has some of its charm but the food was disappointing a bit. Very clean and friendly staff. Food was about $15 a plate and was decent but it's just another burger/sandwiche shop. Sad. read more
